UPDATE Wednesday, June 14 8:24 pm – A local participant in the HOT ROD Power Tour has provided WataugaOnline with updates to the tour route.
Greg Tibbett, a Vilas resident taking part in the tour, tells WataugaOnline that “the tour is not escorted (by LEO) at all. People stop when they want, get gas, eat, whatever. It's a cruise from point a to point b with an official route.”

The 29th Anniversary of the HOT ROD Power Tour will make its way through Boone and portions of Watauga County on Friday.
“It is regarded as the largest traveling car show, with 6,000 cars and trucks from all generations and tens of thousands of fans participating over a five-day road trip.”, according to MotorTrend Magazine. On Wednesday the tour leaves Columbia heading to Rockingham Speedway. On Thursday from Rockingham Speedway to zMAX Dragway in Concord.
The final leg of the tour will come through Watauga County en route to Bristol MotorSpeedway on Friday (June 16, 2023). Leaving Charlotte at 7:30 am, it is expected to be in Watauga somewhere in the 9 am-9:30 am time frame.
The Watauga County portion brings the tour up 321 from Hickory, turning left onto 105 (at the big light in Boone), turning right onto the 105 bypass, turning left onto 321/421 (Boone Mountain), and then turning left onto 321 (at SkateWorld) as it winds it way to Tennessee.

MoPowered Tour 2022 Update!
Well the time is almost upon us. Here is the final breakdown on everything that has been worked out.
I added a new stop, Columbia Motor Alley on the first travel day. It is a restored car dealership and gas station. It has been seen a bunch on ‘American Pickers’.
Also I’ve added all the morning breakfast meetup spots. All look interesting and unique! Excited to try a bunch of new places.
The powers that be released the actual Power Tour route a few weeks ago. I tweaked it for out purposes. Here you can get the information on the original route.
https://www.motortrend.com/events/hot-rod-power-tour-2022-dates-locations/
And here is the modified Map I created with the additional stops.
Don’t forget that on Friday I am peeling off, but will end up at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the end of the Tour. It’s a long slog, so best thought is to cannonball there.

The MoPowered Tour 2022!
That’s right, we’re back!
The Hot Rod Power Tour is back on for June, but 5 days again like in 2021.
Here is all the information on the actual Hot Rod Power Tour, including registering for the actual tour. I do recommend it!
This is where our party comes together. I’ve planned so far a few stops, and there is one change for the end. The last day, it is a long one, 5 hours without any detours or such. There is nothing on Saturday anymore, so once you are done on Friday, that is it. Also I have an old friend who lives off the route I plan on seeing before they get deployed. So the MoPowered Tour will be Monday through Thursday, and I’ll catch up with you guys at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

MoPowered Tour 2021?!
Well hello fellow Mopar Peeps! Two years! How crazy is that?!
I did not know if anyone was following, but the Hot Rod Power Tour is proceeding, later in the years and at a reduced size. Here’s the dates and locations of the Tour.
https://www.hotrod.com/events/power-tour/
HOT ROD POWER TOUR 2021 SCHEDULE KICKOFF / Day 1: Monday, Aug. 23 – Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio Day 2: Tuesday, Aug. 24 – Montgomery County Fairgrounds, Dayton, Ohio Day 3: Wednesday, Aug. 25 – Lucas Oil Raceway, Indianapolis Day 4: Thursday, Aug. 26 – World Wide Technology Raceway, St. Louis, Missouri Day 5: Friday, Aug. 27 – State Farm Center, Champaign, Illinois
Fortunately the Woodward Dream Cruise is the Saturday right before the Power Tour in Detroit, so I’ll be there and then leave Sunday to check in over at Norwalk.
I’m not exactly sure how things are going to go this year. I’m going to do my rough plan for the Tour, see some cool stuff, eat at some neat locations. If you have any recommendations, please let me know!
Fortunately, the last two stops for me, I do not need hotel rooms. But here is what I have for the first three days.

That’s all I have right now, I’ll update things as I get through them. If you have any questions you can of course email me at [email protected] or any of my social media.
MoPowered Tour Maps and Full Itinerary
I went through and put together Turn By Turn maps for the MoPowered Tour and our off road excursions. Still waiting to hear back on one of the stops. It’s the only day we don’t have anything special going on. I’ve also added in another railroad museum, the Mad River & NKP Museum. It is a block off the Power Tour route on the last day. It isn’t huge, so it should be a nice quick stop before the end.
Here is the full Google Map for the MoPowered Tour. I’m not doing turn by turn directions this year, I never followed them last year and nobody on the tour did I believe as well. If you want them, let me know though.
MoPowered Tour Google Map!
And here is where I will be posting updates, GLYMPSE links and any other quick updates too. Even if you don’t have Facebook, it is a public page so you can still view the group and click links.
