HS Radamis II - never again

As part of our Egypt experience we had a 7 night cruise from Luxor to Aswan and back on this boat. Far from luxury. The boat was the most disappointing part of the entire trip. Whilst the staff were fabulous the decor was exhausted and the cleaning virtually non existent. Bathrooms definitely not cleaned. Indeed more detritus seemed to be brought in on a daily basis.. neither my partner nor i have long black hair but there seemed to be a never ending supply in the bathroom. Crockery was smeared and chipped and despite all the anti- bac and precautions in the world all 6 in our party experienced some sort of upset stomach issues..generally of the unexpected explosive kind. Not a boat I would recommend at all.

Setting in a quiet place with or without quite music, watch the view all around you small boats goes by creating rebels on the shining service. You would not want to be disturbed, you loose track of time. You think about the millions of people and boats went thru the past thousands of years.

Sailed on Ms Darakum with Riviera Travel. Ship spotless, nothing too much trouble for the crew. Excellent food, pastries at breakfast outstanding. Guides Youssef and Marco spoke excellent English and knew there subjects well. Cabins and towels cleaned twice daily. Riviera have umbrellas at reception , also can exchange sterling for Egyptian money. Good idea to take earplugs, although ship quiet, sometimes have to tie up at mildly noisy quays. Cookery lessons, Egyptian music, talks etc arranged at no extra cost. Would recommend this holiday ,

We just returned after 12 days in Egypt with Uniworld River Cruises. The trip included 4 days at Cairo and 7 days on the Nile with River Tosco, Uniworld ship. The trip was great. Egypt is full of ancient history and one definitely needs to go with a tour guide. If you go to Egypt, do not stop with Cairo (and Pyramids) but do travel to Abu Simbel and Luxor. We had Hatem as our Egyptologist who was fantastic.. the best tour guide we have ever had.

Originating from Victoria Lake and Ethiopia, Nile runs for thousands of miles cutting across mounds of sands and countries. Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor is wonderful.

hs radamis ii nile cruise reviews

On Steigenberger Minerva Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor. Great selection for food, taste was ok, at station where chef cook the food typically runs out pretty quickly. Housekeeping staff - very friendly and keeps cleaning the room when I am outside 20LE for large bottle of water and 10LE for a small bottle. There's no water kettle or coffee maker in the room, so I wasn't able to make my own tea. I guess they want you to buy it from the cruise. Juice, tea, coffee was included for breakfast only. Had my blouse, pants and dress washed with them ($2-$3 a piece for large items, less for smaller items) The only suggestion I would make is that housekeeping use different towels for the towel animals. Didn't like how they mix the towels that I would be using to dry my body was the same as the towel animals that was made with the cushions and covers. Clean towels belongs on the rack and not be touched by other stuff.

Its name meant both 'elephant' and 'ivory' in ancient Egyptian, a reminder of the important role the island once played in the ivory trade. Elephantine was considered as cult center for god Khnum. During your boat ride, you will witness also the island where Lord Kitchener’s Botanical Gardens are located. It’s  peaceful paradise, full of shady trees, beautiful flowers and unusual plants. The island is a haven for rare exotic birds of many kinds and their colorful plumage can be glimpsed in the branches of most of the trees. Also you can notice and take some photos to the nearby famous Mausoleum of Aga Khan.

In the early morning, ( Note: You will request a Breakfast box to take it on the go before starting the tour ), You will be picked up from your Nile Cruise in Aswan by the modern air conditioned vehicle with your Egytologist tour guide to start your trip towards Abu Simbel (around 3 Hrs. Driving) where you will visit the breathtaking two temples which were originally cut into a solid rock cliff, and built by the Great Egyptian King Ramses II. The relocation of the temples was a historic event in the 1960's. At that time, the temples were threatened by submersion in Lake Nasser when the High Dam was constructed. The Egyptian government with the support of UNESCO launched a world wide appeal to save these colossal landmarks. They were successfully dismantled and relocated to a spot 60 meters above the cliff where they had been initially built. The more famous of the two temples is dedicated to Ramses II and the smaller one to his favorite wife Nefertari . They were both built by Ramses II in the 13th century BC.

Driving) , and upon arrival afternoon, you will be dropped off at the floating hotel to take some rest and have your lunch on board. Kom-Ombo Temple which is an unusual double temple constructed during the Ptolemaic period; due to the conflict between Sobek and Horus, the ancient Egyptians felt it necessary to separate their temple spaces within one temple. The Kom Ombo temple has two entrances, two courts, two colonnades, two Hypostyle halls and two sanctuaries, one side for each god, The Southern part for the Falcon god "Haroeris ", while the northern part for the Crocodile god "Sobek ". The reliefs showing the medical tools (surgical instruments) is among the most intriguing features of the temple. It can be found in the building’s rear, in the passageway that surrounds the main area.. At the time the relief was carved, Egyptian medical science was almost certainly the most advanced in the world.

During the Christian era, the temple’s hypostyle hall was converted into a Christian church, and the remains of another Coptic church can be seen to the west.

Radamis 1 Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan was perfection afloat

We loved everything about the cruise boat Radamis 1 -- the rooms with picture windows and good bathrooms, the other facilities, the sundeck where they served tea and biscuits, the really great good. But above all the service: even to the extent of getting us two rooms when we'd only pre-booked one, and always someone available to help with anything. I had a 'part-time' wheelchair that was accommodated near the entrance [note: different decks are accessible via stairs, no lift]. Our waiter was both helpful and friendly and learned our drink preferences quickly. The cleaner made delightful 'sculptures' with towels and kept everything clean and neat. This isn't the most luxurious or expensive boat on the Nile, but for comfort and service and food you can't beat it.

I went for a 5 nights cruise on board the Royal Ruby ship. It was simply amazing. It is a good value for money; so clean and the crew were so friendly and professional. The experience was great as each day it sails to somewhere else so you enjoy a beautiful view. The reception were always there to help immediately. The food was great. I recommend a nile cruise on board that ship.

Dear \Anette Thanks for your review we hope to see you back soon

We decided to go on a Nile River Boat Cruise Feb 2017. The company we chose was Discover Egypt. We sailed on the Mayflower Boat. We highly recommend this holiday. The boat was beautiful the food amazing every meal was a delight. The staff was so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. They anticipated our needs the cabins where comfortable with lovely toiletries better than I have experienced in some of the best Hotels. Our guide Omar was very knowledgeable and made every Temple and place come to life for us. The people we met was very friendly and we never felt threatened. The security at the Airport was excellent and we shall certainly return. We took the option of a extra week at the Grand Plaza Hurghada we had a lovely week the Hotel and its grounds are lovely and are kept spotless. It had its own beach and once again the staff could not do enough for you. Special thanks to the team in the Spa and Gym for a lovely massage. On the day we left Mohamed (Nicknamed Mandela) collected us from the Hotel to take us to the Airport. He checked in our luggage and collected our Boarding Cards then saw us through as far as he could go through customs. He made the whole experience seamless. The security at the Airport was first class. I would never worry again about visiting Egypt.

Dear \Kath. Thanks so much for your review We all in Nile Cruised travel agency highly appreciate time and effort you spent to choose those beautiful words in your Nile cruise review.

We went on our Nile Cruise on "Minerva" -[booked through a Classic Holidays - Co-op] in January. We flew from Cairo to Luxor and were met at the Airport by a Representative, who escorted us to the boat. The boat was rated 5 star de-lux, but nearly all boats are so rated! It was clean and the cabin accommodated all our luggage. We had a seven day cruise to Aswan and back. There were just four of us from the UK, all the others were mainly German and Mid Eastern, especially from Egypt, as it was School holidays. The children were reasonably well behaved. A number were from Taiwan and other Far East countries. This was an interesting and enjoyable mix - meeting them. The boat was at its busiest was 2/3 full so there was plenty of space and loungers on deck. The drinks were included in our package and the wine choice was just white, red or rose. Beers and spirits also available. The food was quite good and a reasonable choice available from a large self service area. It varied from day to day. No one suffered any stomach problems. The Minerva was about the same size as most of the Nile boats. It had a pleasant atmosphere and is German owned by the Steigenberger Group. At some ports of call we had to walk through other boats foyers and noticed that it was slightly better than most. Do not travel with too many duplicated clothes, as the boats laundry was so cheap and returned as new. Our Egyptologist tour guide was very polite and knowledgeable. He did not saturate us with too much information, that we have had on previous visits. However, we were denied a visit into Tutankhamen's tomb, as it would have added time to his arrangements. This we found disappointing, even though an extra fee and the usual backhander would have been involved. Previous visits prepared us to bargain politely and very hard to agree on any item wherever sold. 25% is about the final price to pay. If hiring a horse and carriage, do this and agree that the payment agreed - included everything including a tip and horse feed. Similarly with taxi drivers. Do not be taken in by anyone who approaches you in the street after leaving the boat who claims to work on the boat. This is a usual con and they offer to take you to various places as a friend. Do quiz them, as they claim to have served you on the boat so, ask detailed questions on items on the boat that you know and layout etc. They are liable to take you to various contacts who persuade you to buy things that are available anywhere at vastly inflated prices. They can be very convincing. Security was of concern to us but the Egyptian Government has made a big effort in protecting visitors at all tourist sites and Towns. So armed soldiers and police are very common and highly visible. The most picturesque are those on camel back. Do not photograph them or sensitive sites. Always ask. Many take baksheesh and agree! We were sorry to leave the boat.

My wife and I took a 7 day cruise on the Oberoi Zahra down the Nile in mid-January. We booked the cruise through Memphis Tours and other than Memphis Tours touting it as part of their “luxury” package, we didn’t know what to expect other than that we had stayed in Oberoi properties in India and found them to be of the highest quality in terms of their physical plant and appearance as well as the level of service provided. The Zahra and its staff matched and exceeded anything we had stayed at before, whether it was any other Oberoi, a Four Seasons, a Ritz-Carlton, or a Luxury Collection hotel. To start, the boat manager, Mamdou Milad, is a manager par excellence. As an example, I noted seemingly in passing, that the Wi-Fi in my room seemed to be slow while the speed was fine in the public areas of the boat. After a few hours when we were out on tour we returned to our room and a router was in our room that resulted in high speed internet in our room. Separately, I had booked a car tour to Abu Simbel without realizing the time required to get there from Aswan. Mr. Mamdou arranged at the last minute to book us on a flight that reduced our travel time thereby increasing our touring time significantly while canceling the car tour. The seamless manner in which he did this, coordinating with Memphis Tours, arranging for the transportation to the airport and return, could not have been better. The dining room staff, after the first day, knew what my wife and I wanted without us having to ask for it. They knew what we liked after the second day and started to provide us with those items, again without us having to ask. A schedule was printed for each day listing the day’s activities and delivered to each room for us to partake as we saw fit. The Egyptologist employed, while a “contractor” was knowledgeable, patient, and courteous. The food was well prepared and delicious and the activities were well designed. The boat has a total of 25 rooms. On our cruise, only three rooms were occupied, although I understand two weeks before, the boat was full. While calling this ship a “boat” is a bit of a misnomer as a check on the boat’s website will show that it is more like a very large yacht. Anyway, because the small number of guests, we had the run of the ship with me feeling like a Russian oligarch with a dedicated staff at the ready. Egypt is dying for tourists. While it is somewhat understandable given the news out of the Middle East and even I had some trepidation after last December’s bombing of a Coptic Church, in all of the time we were in Egypt, which was 10 days, we always felt safe and the people were very friendly. (I would say that as an American, the only thing I was not quite used to was the amount of smoking though it there was no smoking on the ship. I haven’t seen that level of smoking since the early 70s in the U.S.) Every site we visited, the number of tourists was nominal and in a few, we were the only people there! While it is horrible for the economy of Egypt, it is wonderful for visitors like us, especially when there is a personal guide to lead us around and understand the deep history a country like Egypt has to offer. So, if you go on a Nile cruise, the Zahra is the ship to go on. The amenities, the management, the crew, are second to none.

We flew Egyptair from Heathrow to Luxor & return for a week's cruise on the Nile. We travelled with Discover Eqypt on the MS Mayfair which was a well fitted, comfortable and very friendly boat. We had a cabin on the highest (4th) Bel Air deck with a small balcony. It was near the back of the boat so there was quite a bit of engine noise while cruising and especially when manoeuvring in ports. The bar, lounges and dining room were comfortable and welcoming and there is a lovely sun deck on the top of the boat. The cruise was full board and the choice of food was very good and was generally international cuisine but it would have been nice to be able to choose to try some more local food. The breads in particular were lovely and all cooked on board. All the crew, waiting, bar and cabin stewards were excellent - they were very helpful and friendly and spoke very good English. We had the services of a dedicated Discover Egypt Egyptologist and tour guide for the whole week. All the tours to the Valley of the Kings, major temples of Hatchepsut, Edfu, Phillea, Kom Ombo, Luxor & Carnak, Aswan Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk were all included in the price of the cruise. Other places of interest were also included in the trips such as the Crocodile Mummification Museum at Kom Ombo and shops selling papyrus, essential oils and alabaster products. Additional tours could be booked at extra cost such as Abu Simbel temple and the sound & light show at Carnak and it was extra to visit the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings (about £5 each and well worth it!). It is quite a busy week with lots of early starts to get to the sites before the rush! Our guide Islam was excellent - friendly and very knowledgeable. Haggling with the locals is interesting and fun and the security at all the sites was very impressive making us feel safe and secure.
