Journey has no text aside from the title screen and the credits, so you can only communicate by “singing.” Despite its short length and lack of harder gameplay elements , though, Journey won several awards after its release, praised for its evocative silent story and breathtaking soundtrack . This is a highly recommend title to try on your phone.

For the month of June, we are excited to let you in on details about the latest updates we have made to Journey on iOS, Mac, and Android! Now, Journey across all 3 platforms come with a new plugin that allows you to make your own custom templates. Read on to find out more!

This June, we are thrilled to announce some latest additions we have made to Journey across the iOS app, Mac, and Android. Along with the recent revamped design , new color palette, and updates we made to the app's interface, Journey on iOS, Mac, and Android now have a brand-new plugin; " Custom Templates ". Read on to find out more about how this tool can further improve your Journaling experience on these platforms.

Add Custom Templates

With the plugin, you can now create your very own templates on Journey. Being able to make custom templates on Journey allows you to tailor your journaling experience to suit your specific needs and preferences. You can design templates that resonate with your unique goals, challenges, and areas of focus.

By incorporating elements that are meaningful to you to already existing templates on Journey, such as adding more prompts, including additional questions, or sections dedicated to specific topics, or even making one entirely from scratch about a topic that you wish to work on, you create a journaling experience that feels personalized and relevant.

To add a custom template on iOS, Mac, and Android:

• Open up a new entry from your timeline, or open up a template you would like to edit by clicking "+New".
• After creating your own template or editing an existing template from Journey, select "Save as a Template" from the top right of your editor (click the icon next to the editing Pencil icon and select the "Save as a template" option from the drop-down menu)
• Name your template in the dialog box that opens and click "Save".

If you would like to access your custom templates again on either iOS, Mac, 0r Android:

• Open up a new entry from your timeline by clicking "+New"
• Select "Template" from the editor.
• Scroll down the dialog box that opens to reveal the list of "Custom Templates" at the bottom.
• Open up the custom template that you need.

Delete Custom Templates

If you've made a custom template that you would like to delete, you will need to delete them in the web app.

To delete your custom template:

• Go to Journey.Cloud web app.
• Open up a new entry from your timeline by clicking "+New".
• Select "Template".
• Scroll down the dialog box that opens up to reveal the list of "Custom Templates" at the bottom.
• Click the delete button on the right of the list of templates to delete a specific template.

With custom templates, you have the flexibility to adapt and refine your journaling practice as your needs change over time. You can modify or create new templates to reflect your evolving goals, challenges, or interests. This adaptability ensures that your journaling experience remains relevant and supportive of your growth and self-care journey.

Duplicate Entries

If you've created a custom template that you would like to re-use or an entry that you want to expand on or edit for another day, duplicate them and amend them as you please.

To duplicate your journal entries or custom templates on Mac and Android:

• Open up a template or entry you've created and saved from your timeline.
• Select "Duplicate" from the top right of your editor (click the icon next to the editing Pencil icon and select the "Duplicate" option from the drop-down menu)
• Edit the template or entry that opens up however you please.
• Click save at the top left corner of your editor; the green "tick" button, and the edited template will be saved as a new entry in your timeline.

On iOS, you can follow the above steps to duplicate your entries or custom templates, or the following steps that take no more than 2 clicks:

• Open up your Journey timeline.
• Press and hold the journal entry you would like to duplicate.
• Click "Duplicate" from the dialog that appears once you press and hold.

We hope that this latest addition to Journey across these 3 platforms better serve you as an all-encompassing journaling and self-care companion, that you feel safe and comfortable using.

With the " Custom Templates " plugin, you can now create, access, delete, or duplicate custom templates with ease. Create templates that will serve your journaling needs by building on already existing templates from Journey, or by building one from scratch.

Utilizing musical chimes gives color to the cloth scraps collected in the game, as well as changing the world and progress to further levels. Reaching the ending will reveal the players’ names.

The latest iPhone software update is now live, landing on Monday, May 13. Normally, I’d have posted this analysis of how the new release has been received sooner but, as we’ll see, there’s already been one curious effect for some users, who have complained that long-deleted photos have been popping back into view.

Please note I’ll be updating this post in a week, on Thursday, May 23, with a final thought on whether you should upgrade.

The zombie photo issue discussed below is becoming more complicated. As you’ll read, it concerns photos which users have deleted suddenly coming back to life and appearing again in users’ photo streams. As reported by MacRumors , issues have now been reported by iPad users as well as iPhone and one Redditor has found a particularly stinging example of it. They had wiped their iPad in September 2023 and then sold it to a friend. That friend updated to iPadOS 17.5 this week and begin to see old photos reappear. Well, it’s lucky that the buyer was a friend or the seller might never have known about the issue.

So, what’s going on? Well, Apple still hasn’t made any comment, so we don’t know. However, what we do know about electronic storage is that when you delete a file, photo or other item, in most cases the data is not overwritten, rather the connection to that data is cut. As the storage fills up it would in the end overwrite that section when it’s needed.

It seems likely that those photos which are reappearing now were ones where the data wasn’t overwritten and somehow the new software, perhaps in an indexation procedure, has revived them.

What’s more concerning about the new report is that photos belonging to one user are now showing up on a device which now belongs to someone else, with a separate Apple ID.

All that said, my interim verdict is still to upgrade (with final comments to follow on Thursday, May 23). At best, you’ll see no evidence of this issue, and it’s certainly not yet clear that it’s widespread. At worst, you may see photos you don’t want and have to delete them again. If you bought your iPhone or iPad second-hand, be on the look out for unexpected images but, again, the chances seem at this stage to be slim.

Who Is It For And How Do You Get It?

As with other iOS 17 releases, it’s compatible with all iPhones launched in 2018 or later. To wit: iPhone XS, iPhone XR, plus all models of the following series: iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and the latest iPhone 15. It also includes the iPhone SE second-and third-generation phones. If you have automatic updates turned on, it’ll arrive in due course, but you will likely get it sooner if you click on the Settings app, then opt for General, then Software Update.

What It’s About

There are new features in this update. As is becoming increasingly the case, there are some changes which only apply to users in the European Union, in this case making it possible to download apps to the iPhone from the web.

For all users, as the notes from Apple point out, there are improvements to tracking notifications, so that if someone puts a compatible Bluetooth tracker in your bag, for instance, unbeknown to you, you’ll be told. Previously this applied only to hidden AirTags. There are also new offline features for News+, including games, though these are not available everywhere yet.

There are 15 security vulnerabilities fixed in this update, of varying levels of seriousness. As fellow Forbes contributor Kate O’Flaherty explains here , these include an issue with the heart of the iPhone OS, called the Kernel, and a vulnerability in Voice Control.

Initial Reactions

At first, reactions were positive to this upgrade with one user saying “all in all, fantastic performance from iOS 17.5,” though there were also multiple mentions of issues with battery life. And then, out of nowhere, came reports of photographs being raised from the dead. Multiple users have commented in the last hours of images deleted months or even years ago reappearing. The reason is still not clear, though it could be that the photos weren’t properly deleted from the device (through an earlier bug) and some process in the new update, such as re-indexing, perhaps, which revealed them anew.

Apple iOS 17.5 Initial Verdict: Upgrade

The security fixes are the reason to suggest upgrading straight away. True, there’s the curious bug that has seen some photos reappear, but it’s not clear that it’s widespread. It’s certainly worth watching out for but it’s not that valuable photographs are being deleted, quite the reverse. But despite this, the seriousness of the security vulnerabilities makes this an urgent fix.

A pple has just released a new security update, iOS 17.4.1. This comes a little over two weeks after iOS 17.4 , which was a big update. iOS 17.4.1 doesn’t add any new features, but it’s still an important update you’ll want to download as soon as you can.

With iOS 17.4.1, Apple states that the update “provides important bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users.” Apple doesn’t mention any specifics of these bug fixes, but more details on what this security update addresses may be revealed at a later date.

It’s always important to keep your iPhone software up to date, as security patches like this can address vulnerabilities from previous software versions that can lead to security exploits. Even if Apple hasn’t said exactly what  bugs iOS 17.4.1 fixes, it’s still a good idea to grab the update sooner rather than later.

To get iOS 17.4.1, just go to Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone. The update can be applied over the air, so you don’t even need to connect your iPhone to your computer to download. For those who aren’t yet on iOS 17, Apple also released a security patch for iOS 16 users. This would be iOS 16.7.7, and it would also be available by going to Settings > General > Software Update on devices running iOS 16.

If you aren’t seeing these updates yet, it may take some time to roll out to your device. So, if it’s not showing up just yet, keep checking — it will become available shortly.

iOS 17.4 was a big update that brought some major changes to iOS 17. It added Stolen Device Protection, new emojis, and transcripts in the Podcasts app . It also allows users in the European Union to access third-party app stores and change default web browsers

Now that Apple has released iOS 17.4.1, we should expect the first betas for iOS 17.5 to come soon. It’s expected to drop as early as two weeks from now. And while it’s still a ways off, there may be even bigger changes coming to iOS 18 this year, which should be revealed during WWDC 2024 later this summer.

Apple has officially released iOS 17.5 to the general public. The update brings a handful of new features and changes for iPhone users. Head below for everything we know right now.

iOS 17.5 is now available to the public. You can head to the Settings app on your device, then choose General, then Software Update to install the update.

What’s new in iOS 17.5?

While iOS 17.5 isn’t quite as big of an update as other iOS 17 updates, it still includes its fair share of new features and updates.

Within the European Union, the latest iOS 17.5 update introduces the capability to install applications directly from a developer’s website. Apple unveiled this new “Web Distribution” feature last month, explaining that it allows developers to distribute their iOS apps straight from their own websites.

To utilize this functionality, developers must opt into the updated App Store business terms, which requires paying a Core Technology Fee of €0.50 for every first annual installation exceeding one million in the preceding 12 months.

Any application disseminated through the web will still need to adhere to Apple’s notarization guidelines. Apps can only be installed from a website domain that the developer has registered in App Store Connect. Apple will also provide a range of APIs for developers to integrate with system functionality.

In the Apple News app, Apple News+ subscribers in the United States and Canada will find a new “Quartiles” word game after updating to iOS 17.5. The game prompts players to select from a grid of tiles to form words.

Quartiles is the third game to come to Apple News+, following the addition of daily crossword and crossword mini-games that were added last year.

iOS 17.5 also adds Game Center integration to all three of the Apple News+ games. With this feature, you can now see leaderboards for each of the three games for Daily Solve Time and Daily Score stats.

Also for Apple News+ subscribers, iOS 17.5 introduces a new “Offline Mode.” This feature “makes it easy to access the hundreds of magazines, newspapers, narrated articles, and more included in a News+ subscription — no matter where you are,” according to Apple.

Apple News+ subscribers can now enjoy Offline Mode on iPhone and iPad to automatically download Top Stories, Apple News Today audio briefings, full magazine issues and narrated articles from News+ publishers, and puzzles to access later, without Wi-Fi or a cellular connection. When the device is back online, downloaded content will automatically refresh, and downloads will be optimized to maximize space on the device.

iOS 17.5 also includes a few small design changes that are worth pointing out:

• The Podcasts widget has been updated to have a new dynamic color that changes based on the artwork of the podcast you’re currently playing.

• In the Apple Books app, Apple has redesigned the “Reading Goal” icon in top navigation bar.

• In the Settings app, there is a new glyph for the “Passkeys Access for Web Browsers” menu under “Privacy & Security.”

iOS 17.5 also includes a new Pride Collection of wallpapers for iPhone and iPad users, as is tradition. The new dynamic wallpapers come as part of Apple’s goal to “champion global movements to protect and advance equality for LGBTQ+ communities.”

watchOS 10.5 also includes a new Pride watch face, and there’s an Apple Watch Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop available for Apple Watch as well.

As explained by Apple, iOS 17.5 includes a new system centered around anti-stalking capabilities for accessories like AirTags. This development follows Apple’s announcement last year of a partnership with Google to collaborate on a new “industry specification to combat unwanted tracking.”

Strings added to the Find My app reveal that iOS will be able to identify tracking accessories, even those that are not Apple or Find My certified, and assist users in disabling them.

One of the new strings states, “This item lacks certification on the Apple Find My network. You have the option to disable this item and prevent it from sharing its location with the owner. To proceed, follow the instructions provided on a website by the manufacturer of this item.”

These changes come as Google started rolling out its new Find My Device network for Android on April 8.

Also in iOS 17.5, Apple has added a new “Repair State” feature to Find My. This feature lets users confirm with their Apple ID and password that they’re about to send their iPhone in for a repair. As a result, Apple technicians can confirm that the person owns the iPhone and then proceed with the repair without the need to turn off Stolen Device Protection and Find My.

Essentially, this ensures that users can still track their device using Find My while it’s being repaired. Previous, Apple required users to disabled Find My altogether.

Finally, in addition to all the new features and changes, iOS 17.5 also includes 15 notable security patches for iPhone users. Notably, none of the 15 vulnerabilities were reported as previously exploited.

Can’t stop playing!!!!

Since I loaded this app about a week and a half ago I have pretty much forgotten about all other apps and/or games on my phone!!!! I love it.... for too many reasons to even list (but I will try).... First, the game itself is fun, addictive, colorful, full of surprises and all around entertaining!! You get plenty of options and opportunities to earn all the coins and energy that you need to continue playing. Even though I’ve only been playing for a short time, it seems there are a lot of extra little challenges as well (for like holidays, etc..) where you earn great prizes!! There are SO MANY different decorative items to jazz up your island however you like!! And one of the VERY TOP of my favorite things about this game is the adds that you have to watch.... THERE ARE NONE!! So far I have not been forced to watch a single add in order to continue playing!! The only time an add has been presented to me, I was not required to view it. I am given the option to watch an add in order to receive a reward!!!! THAT IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!! Most free apps/games out there force you to watch adds in order to keep playing and many FORCE you to watch adds constantly which I’m sure we all hate!! To sum it up.... I obviously love this game and the way it is set up. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone, young or old, male or female!! I can’t wait to see what else is in store for me as I move through the levels.... gotta go.... I must play!!!! 😁Lisa

I have been playing this game for a while and I love playing. I’ve shared with friends and family how fun this game is. I like that there is a story with the hidden object scenes. Recently I started listening to the podcast as well and it’s a good addition to the game. There are options to buy diamonds, decorations, etc in the game however the developers have created it so that purchase isn’t a must which is nice. I do opt to watch the ads so that I don’t use as much energy per game play. The decorations are nice. At first I didn’t understand the benefits from having the decorations however after playing for a little while I slowly began to understand. It has become just as much fun to decorate the island as it is to play the scenes. The one thing that is bothersome a little is the time it takes to watch the ads and for the ads to load. It takes 30 seconds for some ads to just load and that doesn’t include the watch time for the ads. Sometimes the ads won’t load it will just sit and spin. I have also encountered a few times that the ads did not load and it went on for me to start playing the scene once I start the playing then the ad will pop up kicking me out of playing the scene. This causes a lose of energy which is frustrating. The only other concern I have is the occasional foul language in the story. I don’t like those types of words and feel that hey are not needed because it takes away from the quality of the game. Other than that a great game.

I’ve been playing this game since its development

There are way too many great things I can say about JJ. I have been playing since year 1 so I have all 6 awards for playing since the 6th anniversary just took place. Speaking of anniversaries, there are always tons of giveaways especially around the JJ anniversary. Not many other games give you free prizes just for loving their game. This year the game actually had a real life murder mystery game you to could enter to participate in. They threw a party in Berlin for the anniversary and streamed it so players could watch. During the watch party we received more free gifts for our games. What other game do you know does all of this. I can’t think of a legitimate con to playing this game besides it’s addictive. the entire concept is you help June solve different mysteries while simultaneously building your land. The land you are building is not like other games where you fix up the property, no you actually buy monthly themed land marks and create your own islands. Once your island is built another island will become available. You get to be a designer, this month is October so we have a Halloween theme this month. It’s rad and you get to built your cemetery and other themed land marks in your town, each month it’s something new which keeps it exciting to see what’s next. If you play no other game Junes Journey is the ultimate game for all people of all ages, don’t delay download today.
