Klook Ferry Cruise review

klook singapore island cruise

As an avid fan of ferry rides, I was eager to experience the Klook Singapore Island Ferry Cruise . This unique 4-hour tour takes passengers on a scenic journey to islands south of mainland Singapore like St John’s, Kusu, and Lazarus by comfortable ferry.

Gliding through the straits and exploring the islands made for a relaxing mini island hopping escape from bustling Singapore.

Table of Contents

All Aboard at Marina South Pier

I redeemed my mobile voucher at the Marina South Pier for the 10am Sunday cruise. After collecting my ticket, I walked aboard the double decker ferry minutes before departure. The upper open-air deck offered the best views, so I grabbed a seat there. Soon, we smoothly set sail out into the scenic straits.

Leisurely Sailing to St John’s Island

As we left the Marina Coastal Drive, it felt like I was already getting away from the city as greenery-lined islands came into sight. After 30 minutes, we pulled into the jetty at St John’s Island, a popular recreational spot for Singaporeans.

I climbed to the top of the hillside for panoramic views and snapshots with the isle’s iconic lighthouse before reboarding.

Stopping by Kusu Island

Another hour cruise through the busy shipping lanes brought us to the next stop – Kusu Island. Stepping onto the tranquil island, I immediately spotted the colorful Taoist temples where locals come to make offerings and pray for good fortune.

I even shook a bamboo canister filled with fortune sticks for an auspicious fortune to place in the prayer urn.

Passing the former Quarantine Station

On the return leg, we sailed past the unique ziggurat structures of the tiny and now abandoned Lazarus Island, which formerly served as a quarantine station.

Crumbling but still standing, these historic buildings looked like something out of ancient Mesopotamia rising out of the sea. An intriguing sight!

Disembarking at Sentosa

Finally, we concluded our island hopping cruise back at Sentosa. Along the way, I spotted tankers waiting at the anchorage and tiny Pulau Bukom’s oil refineries across the strait. After admiring Singapore’s industry up close from the sea, I stepped onto shore after the satisfying 4-hour tour.

With its leisurely pace and gorgeous sea views, the Klook ferry cruise made for a perfect low-key weekend escape. Island hopping by sea gave me a new appreciation of Singapore beyond just its famous skyline.

“Very professional, safe, reliable ferry services to Southern Islands!!!”

After doing considerable research, we settled on Marina South Ferries to visit Kusu and St. John's (including Lazarus) Islands. We were not disappointed with our choice as the ferry was on time, comfortable and had good service standards. Their ferries has an open upper deck to enjoy the views of Singapore skyline etc and an air conditioned lower deck. The ferry looked newer compared to other ferries plying the route.

“The family had a blast. MSF has won our hearts. Thanks for the great experience.”

A year ago, they dished out balloons to my kids and introduced their ferry services to us friendly and patiently and say we can consider bring the kids to the islands next time. We were already v impressed with them.

Today decided to go island hopping and we went direct to them instead of thru a booking platform. No regrets as their service was really top-notched.

They made provisions for us despite my carelessness in leaving my tickets in the car. They also helped facilitate our visit to both Kusu and St John though it was already late afternoon.

The double-decked ferries were really comfy and steady.

The family had a blast. MSF has won our hearts. Thanks for the great experience.

“Fantastic service and would definitely recommend Marina South Ferries.”

We took their ferries to Kusu Island and at John island during the National Day. It was Super crowded and I’m traveling with old folks and baby. The crew make sure we are well taken care of and make sure we are the first batch to the enter the ferries.

No regret choosing Marina South Ferries over the other ferry provider as I seen very Long queue from the other provider while our boarding and unboarding is a breeze!

“I personally [have] never seen such a great service attitude.”

We recently used the Ferries service for a Big group of people(40+ pax and 15 bicycles) . We were astonished by the Friendly service by Director Mr Eric. He went way beyond his scope to make our trip a very enjoyable and comfortable. I personally never seen such a great service attitude. Hats off to him and his crew. Cheers

“It was a great experience with Marina South Ferries from the start of redemption of the ferry tickets to the boarding and sailing of the ferry.”

The staff were helpful and direct clearly where to go. They gave out the ferry schedule timing sheet which was clear. Though it was raining heavily when we went but the staff did advise us on whether we should proceed from St John's Island to Sisters' island. The ticket serves unlimited rides and there were a few timings to the different islands. It is good to use on a sunny weather for island hopping.

Has Anyone Used Klook for Singapore Attractions?

We are arriving in Singapore 5 days prior to our cruise and want to make the most of our time there. Does anyone have experience using Klook, specifically the Singapore pass which gives you entry into multiple attractions for a discount (hoping to do Gardens by the Bay, Art & Science Museum, Night Safari, Cable Car on Sentosa). Is this the best way to purchase tickets for attractions  (or direct or another site)? Does anyone have any experience or tips to share?

I was in Singapore in January.  We used the Hop On/Hop Off bus to get around.  The Gardens are free except for the special exhibits.  (To be fair we were too tired to do much b/c we had just finished a 2 week trip in Australia/NZ, but we did enjoy the famous food hall, and seeing an overview of the city via the bus) We got off the bus near the Merlion, and walked back to our hotel next to Suntec City mall.   We did not get over to Sentosa, so I can't comment on that.

I have used Klook several times in different countries in Asia for different types of tours, it's kind of like the Asian version of Viator but more popular in that area of the world.

I can't make a comment on the Singapore Pass though, as I did not purchase that. I did a Hop On/Hop Off bus in Singapore, and a food tour, and then walked a lot.

Klook is a nice tool for booking hotels and attractions. Super easy and much cheaper than booking to the direct site. I've used this tool for all of my travels. I've never experienced a problem using the tool, either.

I bought a GoCity Pass to use in Singapore. 3 activities. Sounds similar to Klook. I used GoCity in Dublin this summer and it was great.

Sights Covered

Kusu Island

Kusu Island

Located about 5.6 kilometers from Singapore, Kusu Island is one of the southern islands of the country. Kusu translates to ‘turtle’ or ‘tortoise’ in Chinese, owing to an old legend. The legend goes that a giant tortoise turned itself into an island to save the lives of two shipwrecked sailors. After being rescued, they returned to thank the tortoise., and built a kramat and shrine in its memory. The tranquil landscape and pristine beaches are incredibly popular among visitors, making it the perfect spot for a picnic.

St. John's Island

St John’s Island

St John’s Island was formerly used as a quarantine center for people suffering from cholera. By 1930, it was a well known screening center for immigrants and pilgrims who were returning from Mecca. Currently, St John’s island is the perfect getaway from the bustling metropolis, owing to its non commercial setting and rustic vibe. It is another perfect spot for a relaxing swim in its beaches or a picnic. The Sisters Island Marine Park Public Gallery and St John’s Island Trial are worth visiting here. Fishing is also a popular activity on the island.

Lazarus Island

Lazarus Island

Lazarus Island is connected to St John’s island through a causeway. Originally used as a prison, Lazarus Island was left abandoned when a prisoner escaped from the island. Fires that broke out in 1902 and 1914 burned away all the vegetation, and the island was left mostly unused. Currently, the C-shaped lagoon is renowned for its white and sandy beach and has been called one of Singapore’s best kept secrets. Picnics with our family and friends and swimming are two activities that are a must-try on the island. Lazarus Island is also home to dozens of stray cats that you can play with.

Klook Pass Singapore: Price, How to Use & Is It Worth It?

Klook Pass Singapore: Price, How to Use & Is It Worth It?

Singapore is well-known for its high cost of living, and attraction tickets can be quite expensive. One effective strategy to cut travel expenses is purchasing a city pass, which bundles entry to multiple attractions at a reduced rate.

The Klook Pass Singapore , also called the Singapore Multi-Attraction Pass, was introduced in 2022 and has quickly gained popularity.

If you're debating whether this pass is worth it and want to know how to get the most out of it, this article will provide my insights and recommendations.

What is the Klook Pass?

The Klook Pass Singapore is a multi-attraction pass that allows travelers to access various attractions and activities within Singapore. Klook Pass allows you to visit 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 10 attractions of your choice. There are currently 29 attractions to select from. By purchasing this pass, you can save both time and money, as it bundles popular attractions into a single, discounted package.

Whether you're interested in thrilling amusement parks, serene gardens, or educational museums, the Klook Pass has something for everyone.

Pricing of the Klook Pass Singapore

The Klook Pass Singapore is available in different types to suit various preferences and budgets. But the prices have gone up a lot over time. Here are the prices of the different types of passes as of June 2024.

The prices shown above could change at any time. Click on this link to see the most recent price.

The general entry to all of your preferred Singapore attractions is included with this pass, which also includes tickets to Skyhelix Sentosa, Gardens by Bay Singapore, Universal Studios Singapore (available as a premium add-on) , Singapore Flyer, Singapore Zoo, Singapore River Cruise, Big Bus Singapore tour, and many more!

Klook Pass: Singapore attractions

Individual Attractions Price

If you are planning a Singapore trip and you should add the below Attractions to your itinerary, here's how much it will cost:

  • Universal Studios Singapore - S$78
  • Gardens by the Bay - S$56
  • E.A. Aquarium™ - S$43
  • Skyline Luge Singapore - S$31
  • Singapore Zoo - S$50
  • Singapore Cable Car - S$43
  • Night Safari - S$52
  • Singapore Flyer - S$42

TOTAL : S$396

If you visit each attraction in Singapore without a Klook Pass, the average cost is around S$49. However, with a Klook Pass that provides access to 2, 5, or 8 attractions, the average cost per attraction decreases to only $39, $35, and S$34, respectively!

How to Use the Klook Pass Singapore

Using the Klook Pass Singapore is straightforward:

  • Purchase Your Pass : Buy the pass online through the Klook website or app. Choose the pass type that best suits your travel plans.
  • Receive Confirmation : After purchase, you'll receive an email with a digital pass containing a unique QR code.
  • Plan Your Itinerary : Decide which attractions you want to visit. The pass gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace within the 30-day validity period.
  • Present Your Pass : At each attraction, simply present your digital pass (QR code) for entry. No need to buy separate tickets.

Who Should Consider the Klook Pass?

  • First-Time Visitors : It's a fantastic way to experience Singapore's must-see attractions without the hassle of buying individual tickets.
  • Families : The pass offers activities suitable for all ages, making it a great choice for family vacations.
  • Budget-Conscious Travelers : If you plan your itinerary well, the Klook Pass can save you money compared to purchasing separate tickets.

Who Might Not Benefit?

  • Slow-Paced Travelers : If you prefer to spend more time at each attraction, you might not maximize the pass's value.
  • Repeat Visitors : You may have already seen some of the attractions included in the pass.
  • Singaporeans : If you live in Singapore and the attraction you want to visit offers locals a lower price, then.
However, selecting attractions solely based on cost isn't the best approach. While saving money is important, your enjoyment and happiness matter more. Therefore, I recommend choosing attractions that genuinely interest you rather than focusing only on the price.

Klook Pass: Pros and Cons

  • Convenience: Easy booking and entry to attractions.
  • Potential Savings: Save up to 44% compared to buying individual tickets.
  • Wide Variety: A broad selection of attractions to choose from.
  • Time Pressure: The validity period might feel rushed for some.
  • Limited Flexibility: You can't change your attraction choices once the pass is activated.
  • Not for Everyone: Might not suit all travel styles.

Is the Klook Singapore Pass Worth It?

It depends on your travel style and priorities. If you want a hassle-free way to experience multiple attractions and potentially save money, the Klook Pass can be a great option. However, weigh the pros and cons carefully to ensure it aligns with your itinerary and preferences.

Klook's Singapore Multi-Attraction Pass can significantly reduce your expenses if used effectively. However, it's crucial to know your preferences and compare the costs of individual attraction tickets with the pass to maximize your savings.
