Markiplier’s Gaming Setup: PC, Camera, Mic in 2024

markiplier setup tour

What gamer out there hasn’t heard of Markiplier? From his horror gameplays to his comedy skits to his YouTube special, A Heist With Markiplier, this sensational streamer knows what it takes to deliver quality videos to his over 30 million adoring subscribers!

We’re dying to know: what kind of equipment does Markiplier use to put together his gameplay videos? Luckily, he’s not shy about mentioning his gear.

So, let’s take a quick look at what camera, gear, and setup Markiplier uses for gaming.

Audial and Sound Gear

markiplier setup tour

Headset: Sennheiser HD 598 Cs

As someone whose entire career requires listening to music and game audio, Markiplier places comfort (see the most comfortable gaming headsets here), quality, and durability as his highest priorities in a headset. He doesn’t bother with fancy styles and flashing lights – he’s known to keep it simple.

These over-ear , open-back , special edition headsets feature luxurious velour ear padding and a leatherette-wrapped headband. I’ll bet you Markiplier forgets that he’s wearing these on occasion!

They are compatible with every audio device, and the best part — they’re durable! If you’ve ever seen Markiplier play Pogostuck , chances are you’ve seen him yeet his headset. (That game could enrage a saint, honestly!) These headsets can take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer no longer makes the Sennheiser HD 598 Cs. If you want to get your hands on something similar, try the Sennheiser HD 599 SE .

Microphone: Shure KSM44A Studio Microphone

Only proper studio-quality sound recording equipment can fully capture the lustrous timbre of Markiplier’s voice. The Shure Studio Microphone is serious business with its three-stage protection grille and high-end preamplifier.

This piece of equipment, coupled with the dual-axis, swivel-mounted RODE PSA1 Microphone Arm, allows him to record his podcast, Distractible, with crystal clarity.

Check this article if you are interested how much does a home recording studio cost .

Computer Gear

markiplier setup tour

Desktop computer: Corsair 330R Ultra-Silent Computer Case

To handle all of the content he puts out, Markiplier needs a computer worth its salt. Thus, he’s chosen the Corsair 330R Ultra-Silent Computer Case equipped with an Intel Core i9-7900X Processor .

He’s combined all this raw processing power along with an Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 1080 Ti FE Graphics Card to ensure he keeps on playing and recording at peak performance, while the Corsair’s integrated three-speed fan stays out of his audio.

Desktop monitor: AOC – 27″ Widescreen Monitor

Any gamer knows that spending countless hours in front of a digital screen risks damaging your eyes over time. For this reason, Markiplier uses a large 27″ AOC widescreen monitor. (Actually, he uses two screens – one to game on and the other to record.)

The AOC delivers accurate colors and rich detail, all flicker-free. It’s designed with LowBlue Mode Technology, cutting down on harmful blue light and reducing eye strain.

Take a note from Mark’s example – you can’t game if you can’t see!

Keyboard: Logitech G213 Gaming Keyboard

If Markiplier can teach us anything, it’s that your gear doesn’t have to be top-brand. It just needs to be functional and durable, especially if the user has the potential to shove their equipment across the desk in a knee-jerk rage reaction to a game gone wrong!

Mark’s Logitech G213 keyboard is simple and functional with dedicated media controls and a customizable gaming mode. It’s also conveniently spill-resistant.

Mouse: Razer DeathAdder Chroma Mouse

You can’t be as good at gaming as Markiplier without the right mouse! Mark gravitates from his simplistic style with his Razer DeathAdder (cool name, right?) gaming mouse, and for good reasons.

The DeathAdder’s comfortable, ergonomic design and rubberized side grips ensure his fingers stay right where he needs them. It has eight super-sensitive, programmable buttons for remapping and assigning different functions.

The mouse’s 20K DPI optical sensor reduces cursor drift by auto-calibrating during lift-off and landing. It’s unique Razor Speedflex cable eliminates drag, providing the same control as a wireless mouse.

Laptop: ASUS G751JY 17-Inch Gaming Laptop

Markiplier travels quite a bit, often to visit and record videos with his Korean mother, whom fans lovingly dubbed “Momiplier.” Mark has stated to his fans that he always strives to provide content, even if it’s a little delayed.

Therefore, when he is not at his desktop, he uses an ASUS G751JY 17-Inch Gaming Laptop. This laptop contains separate thermal modules for both the GPU and CPU, keeping the sensitive hardware nice and cool while running multiple games on its 1TB, 7200RPM hard drive.

Video Recording Software and Gear

Camera: sony a7 iii camera.

In every video, Markiplier greets his audience with a great big smile on his face. It doesn’t get there by way of some ordinary, cheesy webcam. Instead, Mark uses a Sony a7 professional Bluetooth digital camera.

This 35mm bad boy boasts a resolution most webcams can only dream about, as well as interchangeable lenses and a HOST of other features too numerous to mention here. The Sony a7 is the camera to have should you decide to follow in Mark’s footsteps.

Recording software: Camtasia Studio Software

It’s already a ton of work recording quality video. There’s no need to add more work with complicated software. Markiplier keeps things nice and simple by using Camtasia 2021 screen recorder and video editor for the PC or Mac.

Camtasia is user-friendly, easy to learn, and affordable. You don’t need to be a professional to use it or have natural editing talent. The 2021 edition offers improved performance and new visual effects over older versions.

Editing software: Adobe Premiere Pro

In recent years, Markiplier enlists the aid of professional editor, Lixian – who often appears on-screen as a handsome and charismatic cartoon to interact with Mark – to format his videos.

Pre-Lixian, Mark used Adobe Premiere Pro. Why? Because every professional worth two cents uses Adobe. It’s a brand that professionals have trusted for decades for its familiarity, functionality, and high-quality output.

Adobe may cost a pretty penny, but if you’re serious about getting into editing, this software will not fail you.

Comfort Equipment

Gaming chair: markus swivel chair.

One often-overlooked but essential piece of gamer equipment is the chair. Markiplier spends countless hours sitting in his Markus swivel chair.

True to his style, it’s not a fancy, high-end gaming chair. The Markus is simplistic, offers all the necessary back support, and most importantly, it’s rugged.

Mark’s chair has been the victim of one of his gamer-rage episodes, and he has sent it flying off-screen at least once. Do you know what? It is still in one piece, and he still uses it.

The Markus swivel chair is “Yeet Tested, Markiplier Approved.”

Ever wondered what gear and software famous gaming YouTuber Markilplier uses to create his stunning content? In this article, I’ve covered all the equipment, gear, and software he currently uses (aside from his editor, Lixian).

To briefly recap, here are a few of the tools he uses, along with why:

Headset: Sennheiser HD 598 Cs – To-die-for comfort, rugged durability.

Microphone: Shure KSM44A Studio Microphone – Flawless, crystal-clear audio recording.

Desktop Computer: Corsair 330R Ultra-Silent Computer Case – Paired with an Intel Core i9-7900X processor and Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 1080 Ti FE Graphics Card.

Laptop: ASUS G751JY 17-Inch Gaming Laptop – Power to multi-game on the go.

Mouse: Razer DeathAdder Chroma – 8 programmable buttons and split-second response time.

Camera: Sony a7 III Camera – Performance that outshines any webcam.

Recording Software: Camtasia Studio – User-friendly and affordable.

Markiplier’s Camera and Gaming Setup

Featured image for “Markiplier’s Camera and Gaming Setup”

If you’re one of his fans or a creator aspiring to reach Markiplier’s level , then you’ll to know our intel and check out below some of his gear that he uses for his gaming setup.

In today’s article, we’re showcasing the 34th most-popular YouTuber/ influencer Markiplier, and give you some of the equipment that he uses to film his videos.

First, let’s take a look at camera that Markiplier uses:

1. Markiplier’s Camera: Sony a7R II Camera

Sony a7R II

Quality = 95%

Affordability = 85%

  • 35mm sensor
  • 42.4MP camera
  • Built-in XGA OLED viewfinder
  • Bionz X processing engine
  • Hyper-fast autofocus and 399-point phase detection
  • 5-axis image stabilization
  • Magnesium alloy outer body
  • Films in 4K video quality

Also Used By: jacksepticeye and FunForLouis

This camera is expensive .

At just under $2,000 it’s a bit above many first-time vloggers’ price range.

However, if you’ve already got some traction, experience, and followers under your belt, you should consider upgrading to a high-quality camera like the Sony a7R II to ensure that you continue to produce ultra-high-quality content for your viewers.

This camera has the world’s first back-illuminated CMOS image sensor which increases the camera’s ability to collect light, expands the circuitry scale, and minimizes the noise to increase focus on the image details.

The image sensor works inline with the Bionz X processor to output image data 3.5 times faster than the Mark I a7R camera.

The 399-point autofocus system is nothing short of incredible either. It’s perfect for fast-paced vlogging and can record high-speed videos with razor-sharp clarity.

Although the average LP vlogger may not need all of these extra features, outdoor vloggers or those who are constantly filming on-the-go will definitely appreciate it.

2. Markiplier’s Lighting: Neewer Camera Ring Light

Neewer Ring Light

Quality = 92%

Affordability = 87%

  • 18-inch ring light
  • Fully dimmable 55W, 5500K lumen LED
  • 61-inch tripod stand
  • White and orange color filter tubes
  • Hot shoe adapter compatible with most cameras

Used By YouTubers : jacksepticeye, PewDiePie and Jesse Wellens

If you really want your vlogs to have a professional appearance and appeal, then you’ll eventually want to find a source of lighting other than the lamp on your desk or the screen light.

This is especially true when you’re talking about filming in low-light conditions.

Since Markiplier is almost always shooting his point-of-view video game vlogs in a dimly-lit room, he makes use of this Neewer camera ring light on an everyday basis .

The best thing about this stand is how simple and versatile that it is. The hot shoe adapter sits right in the middle of the ring and slightly behind the light.

You can then adjust the angle of the ring and use the remote to control the brightness of the lighting to ensure that you’re setting the perfect mood.

The base model comes with two color filter tubes (orange and white) which can be placed over the LED’s to produce warmer, more natural colors as well.

When you’re finished, simply disassemble the ring, fold up the tripod, and place the unit in the handy carrying case!

3. Markiplier’s Headphones: Sennheiser HD 598 Cs

Sennheiser HD 598 CS

  • Over-ear, open-back design fits naturally and comfortably
  • Padded leather headband
  • Velour ear pads for extended comfort
  • Ergonomic Acoustic Refinement (E.A.R) technology
  • SYS 38 transducers for dynamic, low distortion audio
  • 1.2m 3.5mm cable

Sennheiser has long been one of the most respected names in the music industry when it comes to overall audio quality, but the one con that has always seemed to be an issue among their fans has been the fact that a lot of their headphones just don’t look very nice.

This headset is incredibly comfortable and offer an open ear design where the headband curves around behind the ear and over the head.

This design relieves pressure from the ears and sides of the head while still providing a snug fit.

The velour earpads also contribute to an incredibly comfortable fit. They softly cup your ear and ensure that you won’t feel any residual soreness even after hours of wearing them.

Aside from the incredible comfort and attractive style, however, they also have perfectly balanced sound . This is due to Sennheiser’s E.A.R technology.

It stands for Ergonomic Acoustic Refinement and utilizes the dynamic transistors along with the rounded cup design around the ears to produce high-fidelity, balanced sound which is perfect for live monitoring situations.

4. Markiplier’s Microphone: Rode NT1

Rode NT1 KIT

Quality = 98%

Affordability = 84%

  • Microphone dust cover
  • Pressure gradient
  • Cardioid polar pattern
  • JFET impedance converter
  • Rode SMR shock mount
  • Removable all-metal pop filter

The Rode NT1 is one of the most popular condenser mics among vloggers, amateur musicians, and podcasters alike.

It’s a well-rounded, balanced, and sturdily built little unit that’s perfect for almost any application. One of the reasons it provides such balanced sound is its double-Lyre suspension system that minimizes vibrational distortion.

This works in congruence with the durable all-metal pop filter to reduce pops that come from sharp consonant sounds such as T’s and P’s.

The Rode NT1 is also an incredibly quiet microphone. It has very little operational noise which is excellent for vlogging and podcasting applications where you’re not going to have a lot of background noise to begin with.

It has a cardioid polar pattern which absorbs sound from the side and works best when it’s hung about 8 to 12 inches away from your mouth.

It has a wonderful mid-range response which is perfect for vocal commentary. The high-end frequencies are smoothly leveled out, and the bass response is rich, silky, and non-dominating.

All of these work together to produce a very even and balanced sound.

No wonder Markiplier uses this microphone.

5. Markiplier’s Microphone Arm: Rode PSA1 Arm

Rode PSA1 Boom Arm

Affordability = 91%

  • 360-degree rotation
  • Supports all Rode microphones
  • Built-in shock mount
  • 33-inch vertical reach
  • 32.5-inch horizontal reach
  • Features desk clamp and desk insert style attachments

Of course, a condenser mic isn’t much good on its own . You’ll need to have an arm to properly support it and position it at the right angle and distance from your face.

The Rode PSA1 arm is designed to work with just about every Rode condenser mic (including the previously mentioned Rode NT1), as well as with several other popular microphone brands.

The thing that makes this arm better than a lot of others is its feedback. It moves very smooth, and you won’t have to spend a lot of time trying to get it in the right position.

You can fine-tune everything from the height to the angle, and once the arm is in place, you won’t have to worry about it falling out of place.

Another feature that makes the Rode PSA1 extension arm a great addition to your condenser mic is the fact that it helps to further isolate sound and reduce outside noise interference that often comes from loud environments, vocal vibrations, and other gear.

The built-in shock mount ensures that vibrations don’t travel through the arm and into the microphone itself which can cause distortion or popping in the playback.

6. Markiplier’s Recording Software

OBS

Affordability = 100%

  • Real-time audio and video capturing
  • Setup unlimited scenes to transition between
  • A wide array of personal configuration settings available
  • Modular, rearrangeable user interface
  • Built-in mixer

If you’re going to be doing a little bit of Let’s Play style vlogging, then you’re going to need a means of recording your screen and playing it back to your viewers. Various pieces of software can perform these, and many of them can cost hundreds of dollars.

However, Markiplier is keeping things simple with this particular item.

OBS streaming and recording is an open source project that is entirely free for all users and operates seamlessly on Mac, Windows, and Linux. It features a wide array of available settings that allow you to do fine tune your recording and come up with a well-balanced audio recording.

OBS also gives users the ability to record and stream through an unlimited number of scenes which provides you with plenty of creative control over how you want to stream back your video and allows you to skip the boring scenes that aren’t commentary worth

7. Markiplier’s Recording Software

Adobe Premiere Pro

Quality = 94%

Affordability = 80%

  • High-performance video editing software
  • Plenty of official tutorial videos and free educational material
  • Apply a wide range of pre-set color gradients to your clips
  • Advanced audio mixer built-in
  • Closed captioning editing available
  • Shortcuts allow you to quickly slide through your clips

When you’re as big of a YouTube star as Markiplier is, you can’t afford to produce subpar or average-quality videos. You’re going to need every production to appear as streamlined and professional as possible.

To accomplish this, an industry standard video editing software is usually required.

Adobe Premiere Pro is loaded with features that allow you to scroll through your clips and still shots frame-by-frame and add all of the editing effects that you could ever need precisely where they need to be.

From pre-set color gradients to a fully customizable palette, you can control the mood and temperature of every scene.

There’s even an option that allows you to add closed captioning to any video of your choice.

About Markiplier :

markiplier

His YouTube channel has over 9 billion views and boasts over 21 million fans and subscribers.

The majority of his videos are shot from home and simply feature his irreverent gaming commentary (complete with plenty of yelling and unfiltered profanity) during his gameplay of some of today’s most popular video games.

He wasn’t initially very popular with the YouTube admins when he first started in 2012. After years of persistence, however, he built a steady following and even appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2014.

Since then he’s stayed in the headlines of gaming news with his charity work, hosting the South x Southwest Gaming Awards, and more.

Over the years, he’s experienced both personal loss and success but has kept his head high through it all. His current awards include “Celebrity of the Year” by the Make-A-Wish Foundation for his charity work and the Golden Joystick Award for “Best Streamer/Broadcaster of the Year.”

Conclusion!

There you have it!

If you’ve never heard of Markiplier and you’re a gamer or somebody who just appreciates rough humor from a friendly character, then check out his channel. You won’t be disappointed.

While some of these items such as his mirrorless camera for vlogging are definitely on the more expensive side, his OBS screen recording is entirely free to use.

At the end of the day, you’re going to have a wide variety of personal preferences and needs that affect your choice of gear.

However, it never hurts to take some recommendations from the pros, so make sure to check out other YouTubers we reviewed like Sam Kolder’s gear and David Dobrik’s cameras .

Equipment Analysis

Markiplier’s Mouse – Marikiplier is using the Razer DeathAdder Chroma as his mouse of choice. The DeathAdder chroma is one of Razer’s best selling products and the absolute best when it comes to combining design and performance. We highly recommend it to those of you who play FPS games or MOBAs such as LoLl, HOTS and Dota 2

Markiplier’s Microphone  – Markiplier is using the Rode NT1 to create his videos. Rode is probably the best microphone manufacturer for normal vocals (Videos, Podcasts) And we see many top content creators using one of their products. The NT1 is a great choice for all of you aspiring content creators who demand a high quality sound at a reasonable price.

Markiplier’s Camera – All of Markiplier’s videos are captured with the Canon EOS 70D. Canon is the largest camera manufacturer in the world and is known for its cameras’ high quality. The Canon EOS 70D is very popular among content creators and we are sure you have watched dozens of videos made with the Canon EOS 70D. We highly recommend it to content creators who already own a starter level camera and want to take their content to a professional level.

Markiplier’s Keyboard – Markiplier is using yet another Razer product as his keyboard. The DeathStalker Chroma is one of Razer’s new keyboards, the DeathStalker is a Membrane keyboard. Membrane keyboards offer a happy medium between normal Keyboards and mechanical keyboards and we highly encourage you to get the DeathStalker if you don’t like the fell of mechanical keyboards.

Markiplier’s Headphones – Markiplier’s headphones are the Sennheiser HD 598 Cs. We don’t need to tell you about how great Sennheiser is and we believe Sennheiser is the number 1 brand for people who actually care about sound quality. The HD 598Cs are some of the best sounding headphones we have ever tested! Even though the 598Cs are not gamer focused headphones they include a microphone and very comfortable ear cups that will allow you to game for hours on end!

Markiplier’s Monitor – Markiplier’s monitor is the AOC 27” I2757FH IPS LED Monitor. As the name suggests the monitor is a 27″ IPS monitor. 27″ IPS monitors at that price are very hard to find and from our research, this is the best looking monitor at its price category. With that being said, the monitor is not specifically geared towards gamers and its response time is 5ms which is not ideal for gamers. We recommend this monitor to those of you who do graphic design.

Markiplier’s Chair – Markiplier’s is using an IKEA chair! This is quite surprising to us and we wouldn’t recommend buying a gaming chair from IKEA. However, Markiplier’s MARKUS Swivel chair is a great option for those of you who are looking for an office chair at a decent price.

Markiplier’s Laptop  – Markiplier’s laptop is an ASUS ROG laptop with a 4GB GTX980, a powerful Intel i7 CPU and 24GB of DDR3 memory. As you can see, Markiplier’s laptop is very powerful and will be more than enough for any game or editing task you will throw at it.

Madonna’s hits-filled celebration tour, dissected.

Hear five standouts from the set, and six we wish she’d played.

A magenta dotted line.

By Caryn Ganz

Dear listeners,

Lindsay is desperately seeking some time off this week, so I am the first of your guest playlisters: Caryn, the pop music editor. I’m going to tell you a secret — you could consider it one of my confessions on a dance floor. I saw Madonna’s Celebration Tour seven times; eight if you include the livestream from Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night, where the Queen of Pop wrapped her first-ever retrospective with a free show before an estimated 1.6 million people on Copacabana Beach.

Some have asked why, so a brief explanation: I believe Madonna is the most important and influential solo figure in pop history, and I don’t skip opportunities to see her onstage, where she has innovated and thrilled throughout her four-decade career. (If you’re wondering who was behind “ 60 Times Madonna Changed Our Culture ,” wonder no more.) I was too young to catch the Virgin or Who’s That Girl tours — and nobody took me to Blond Ambition or the Girlie Show (ahem, parents) — so my live history begins with Drowned World in 2001 and I have done my best to catch up.

The Confessions Tour from 2006 is the best I’ve seen in person, the Tears of a Clown revival at Art Basel in 2016 was the zaniest, and Celebration is the first one I’ve reviewed (on its U.S. leg’s opening night in October). Repeated viewings haven’t changed my initial critical overview, though some parts of the show grew on me, some vocal performances sharpened up, and some of the extemporaneous speeches Madonna gave during the two breaks each night designed for them were stunningly raw and moving. (See Bonus Tracks below for more on that.)

But the point of today’s playlist is to take a deeper (and deeper) look at the songs Madonna did — and didn’t — select for the tour. The first five tracks are my favorites from the show, which has a lot to do with how she staged them. The second six are songs that were sorely missed, so should you ever do a Celebration 2, M, please consider them official requests.

Crazy for you,

Listen along while you read.

1. “like a prayer”.

The Celebration Tour stage encompassed 4,400 square feet, including a spinning circular platform that was the focal point for several songs — including this standout, performed on a carousel that rose into the air as shirtless dancers in loincloths and masks draped themselves in crucifixion-like poses. The entire show was set to backing tracks rather than a live band, and for this 1989 hit, it was a remix featuring booming bass and a few seconds of Sam Smith and Kim Petras’s “Unholy” at the beginning and end. (The precise mix isn’t available, but the “7” Remix” edit gets you close.) Chills, I tell you! ▶ Listen on Spotify , Apple Music or YouTube

2. “Live to Tell”

Much has been written about the stunning performance of this 1986 song, which Madonna staged as a tribute to victims of AIDS. She floated above the crowd in a rectangular box gazing at black-and-white portraits of those lost to the disease (including many of her friends and collaborators) on massive screens around her, which multiplied to demonstrate the scale of the epidemic. Each night I saw the show, she had a genuine emotional response and delivered her strongest vocals here.

3. “Nothing Really Matters”

Madonna started the show with this song from “Ray of Light” (1998), using it as a table setter before she went back in time and revisited the story of her career. It was a striking entrance: She held a few poses on the spinning platform at the base of the stage, and slowly rotated out toward the audience in a black kimono and halo headpiece. As a song choice, it was a pointed opening statement about maturing, life choices, different kinds of love, and beginnings and endings.

4. “Don’t Tell Me”

The videos for “Don’t Tell Me” and “Hung Up” feature my favorite Madonna choreography, and while I was extremely happy to get them both live on this tour, they were both abbreviated! (So were a lot of other songs, but these felt especially egregious.) Still: I love this one’s stubborn message, and it was a blast to see the group number recreated on the Celebration stage — and a reminder that Madonna, always ahead of the curve, went cowboy chic back in 2000.

5. “Open Your Heart”

The section of the show dedicated to Madonna’s early days in New York and her first hits underscored the grit it took to get noticed and the glee she took in escaping on the dance floor. “Everybody” and “Holiday” were delightful, but her live performance of “Open Your Heart” made me discover the song anew: beautifully constructed, simple and still dramatic in the best ways, a real piece of pop perfection.

OK, now for the requests: This 2000 song joined the set list for the finale in Rio, but it should have been there the whole time! It’s a statement of purpose that encapsulates Madonna’s entire career. It is electrifying heard over the speakers of an arena — we know this, because it was the centerpiece of her Confessions Tour, when she performed it as an ecstatic roller disco in a crisp white suit.

7. “Secret”

Personally, I would have traded “Human Nature” for this “Bedtime Stories” single, which has one of the more unusual chord progressions in the Madonna catalog — a satisfying blend of major and minor that actually sounds mysterious and alluring.

8. “Oh Father”

Motherhood was the defining theme of the Celebration show, a thread that ran from the opener “Nother Really Matters” through the many moments featuring Madonna’s children (four of them went on the road and appeared each night). She performed “Mother and Father,” a song about loss from her 2003 album “American Life,” with her son David, and it did grow on me as a result. (I would have preferred “Hollywood,” but that’s a whole other mood.) Still, I missed “Oh Father,” the dramatic ballad from “Like a Prayer” that was a highlight of Blond Ambition.

9. “Material Girl”

We had a lot of early hits in the show, so I get why it didn’t make the cut, but I will say this: Someone was playing this 1985 smash on a sound system outside of Barclays Center after the second show I saw in Brooklyn, and watching the crowd dance and shout along, I realized I missed this moment during the concert. Still a certified banger!

10. “Beautiful Stranger”

Some of Madonna’s best songs have arrived on soundtracks (that’s where we got “Vogue”!) and I have an enduring love of this kicky little tune from the 1999 album that accompanied “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.”

11. “Frozen”

Madonna performed “Frozen” a handful of times on Celebration, subbing it in for “Rain,” but I got “Rain” all seven times and was thirsty for this “Ray of Light” track instead. It’s a masterpiece of downtempo electro with a beautiful vocal and ear-tickling synth flourishes. It brings the drama we crave! Next time, Madonna, please?

The Amplifier Playlist

“Madonna’s Hits-Filled Celebration Tour, Dissected” track list Track 1: “Like a Prayer” Track 2: “Live to Tell” Track 3: “Nothing Really Matters” Track 4: “Don’t Tell Me” Track 5: “Open your Heart” Track 6: “Music" Track 7: “Secret” Track 8: “Oh Father” Track 9: “Material Girl” Track 10: “Beautiful Stranger” Track 11: “Frozen”

Bonus Tracks

As I mentioned above, Madonna addressed the audience for two extended periods during each show. On Jan. 23 at Madison Square Garden, she spoke about AIDS in New York in the 1980s, singling out Ellen Matzer and Valery Hughes in the audience — two nurses, “heroes,” she said, on the front lines of the epidemic, working in wards where “there were no visitors.” She went on, describing her own stop in a hospital room where she encountered a young man on the brink of death. “I laid down on the bed next to him, and he held my hand and he said, ‘Mother, thank you for coming,’” she said, her voice starting to break. “And it just made me think, these women here tonight, they did this every [expletive] day. And they got no thanks. So please say thank you to them right now.” It was a moment of gratitude that had most of the arena in tears.

Also, Madonna used “I Don’t Search I Find” as the soundtrack to a spectacular video montage near the end of the show that captured what made her inescapable — and irresistible to the media — throughout her career. It’s the best song from her most recent studio album, “Madame X,” and I recommend it.

Johnny Marr rocks out on guitar.

Manchester will be united in the States this year.

Johnny Marr and James — both natives of the aforementioned England city — are embarking on a 20-concert North American co-headlining tour this fall.

Along the way, the pair will stop in for one night at Brooklyn’s newly opened Paramount Theatre on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

This won’t be their first time touring together either; James opened for Marr’s band The Smiths on the group’s 1985 ‘Meat Is Murder Tour.’

“We admired them and even did one of their songs in our set,” Marr said recalling the tour in a press release. “I’ve been a fan of theirs ever since and being out on tour again after 40 years is a really great thing.”

We look forward to making magic together,” James’ lead singer Tim Booth added.

And if you can’t wait to see these ’80s icons reunited, tickets for all Marr and James shows can be scooped up as early as today.

Fans can now purchase tickets on sites like Vivid Seats ; the official on-sale is Friday, May 10.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Most recently, Marr took his ‘The Spirit Power Tour’ to Nottingham on April 14.

Here’s what he brought to the stage that night, courtesy of Set List FM :

01.) “Sensory Street” 02.) “Panic” (The Smiths song) 03.) “Generate! Generate!” 04.) “Spirit Power and Soul” 05.) “New Town Velocity” 06.) “This Charming Man” (The Smiths song) 07.) “Somewhere” 08.) “Walk Into the Sea” 09.) “The Answer” 10.) “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want” (The Smiths song) 11.) “Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before” (The Smiths song) 12.) “Get the Message” (Electronic song) 13.) “Bigmouth Strikes Again” (The Smiths song) 14.) “Hi Hello” 15.) “How Soon Is Now?” (The Smiths song) 16.) “Easy Money” 17.) “Getting Away With It” (Electronic song)

James set list

In late October 2023, James headlined at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

According to Set List FM , here are the 15 tracks the band played that evening.

01.) “Sound” 02.) “Ring the Bells” 03.) “Curse Curse” 04.) “Walk Like You” 05.) “Interrogation” 06.) “Tomorrow” 07.) “Come Home” 08.) “She’s a Star” 09.) “Johnny Yen” 10.) “All Good Boys” 11.) “Sit Down” 12.) “Beautiful Beaches” 13.) “Getting Away With It (All Messed Up)” 14.) “Sometimes (Lester Piggott)” 15.) “Laid”

Johnny Marr new music

Last year, Marr dropped a Best Of compilation featuring all the hits from his storied career.

What we’re most interested in though is his 2022 release “Fever Dreams Pts 1-4.”

Comprised of 16 pulsing tracks, Marr shows off his gifts for straddling the line between hard rock and jangle pop.

While the record is “no skip” level good, we can’t help but recommend three standout tracks that showcase Marr’s musicianship- the soaring “Lightning People,” the rocking yet danceable “Sensory Street” and nimble, poppy “Night And Day.”

Don’t sleep on the opening track “Spirit Power and Soul” either; it’d fit right in at a haunted house/crossfit hybrid if that makes sense.

Want to hear for yourself?

You can find “Fever Dreams Pts 1-4” in its entirety here .

James new music

Just this year, James released their 18th studio album “Yummy.”

Unsurprisingly, the veteran rockers haven’t lost a step.

Album opener “Is This Love” is a feel good singalong that sets the tone for an inventive, dreamy, atmospheric record that sounds like a bizarro world version of The Killers.

Piano heavy “Shadow Of A Giant” is a surprise diversion from the band’s straightforward indie pop sound as they land on something that sounds brand new and familiar all at once; “Mobile God” evokes otherworldly bombasity.

Make sure to stick around for the album closer “Folks,” too. It’s the perfect melancholy capper to the unpredictable yet always satisfying “Yummy.”

HOUSTON (AP) — Time marches on and all good things must come to an end. But don’t tell that to The Rolling Stones .

What many believe to be the greatest rock ’n’ roll band in the world showed no signs of slowing down anytime soon as they kicked off their latest tour Sunday night at Houston’s NRG Stadium.

The Stones have been touring for more than 60 years. Frontman Mick Jagger and lead guitarist Keith Richards are both 80, with guitarist Ronnie Wood not far behind at 76. Their tour is being sponsored in part by AARP.

But during a vibrant two-hour show, the Stones played with the energy of band that was on tour for the first time.

“It’s great to be back in the Lone Star State,” Jagger told the packed stadium, filled with longtime fans, many wearing faded concert shirts from previous tours.

Jagger often strutted up and down the stage with seemingly boundless energy while Richards and Wood played many familiar guitar riffs beloved by fans. Jagger often led the audience in sing-alongs.

“The energy level is up and it’s always up with them. The age doesn’t show,” Dale Skjerseth, the Stones’ production director, said Friday before the concert.

The Stones have hit the road to support the release of their latest album, “Hackney Diamonds,” the band’s first record of original music since 2005.

Houston was the first stop on the band’s 16-city tour across the U.S. and Canada. Other cities on the tour include New Orleans, Philadelphia and Vancouver, British Columbia. The tour ends on July 17 in Santa Clara, California.

During Sunday’s 18-song concert set list, the Stones played several tracks off the new record, including lead single “Angry.” They also played classics including “Sympathy for the Devil,” “Gimme Shelter,” Honky Tonk Women” and “Start Me Up.”

After playing “Beast of Burden,” Jagger said that concertgoers in Houston had voted to include it on the set list.

“You can’t go wrong with that,” one man in the audience could be heard screaming.

The Stones also played some unexpected choices, including “Rocks Off,” from their 1972 double album “Exile on Main St.” and “Out of Time,” a 1966 song that Jagger said during the concert had not ever been played by the band in the U.S.

With the 2021 death of drummer Charlie Watts , the Stones are now comprised of the core trio of Jagger, Richards and Wood. On Sunday, they were backed by various musicians including two keyboardists, a new drummer, backup singers and a brass section.

While the stage was surrounded by a large collection of video screens projecting images throughout the show, the main focus of the concert was the band and their songs

Before Sunday’s concert, Jagger spent time on Friday touring NASA’s Johnson Space Center in suburban Houston, posting photos on his Instagram account of him with astronauts inside Mission Control.

“I had an amazing trip to the space center,” Jagger said.

When asked if the band might be thinking about retiring, Skjerseth said he doubts that will happen.

“This is not the end. They’re very enthused,” he said.

This story has been updated to correct a song title to “Gimme Shelter,” not “Gimmer Shelter.”

Rickie Fowler to switch into standard-length, custom orange Jailbird putter

Change Text Size

GolfWRX.com

Rickie Fowler, the undisputed Odyssey Jailbird king of 2023, is likely making a major switch-up to his popular putter setup this week at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.

First, a brief recap of how we got here.

Fowler was struggling with his putting leading into 2023, but the elongated putter and Jailbird mallet head helped quell his issues.

“I was very shocked, because I never really looked into anything that was longer, counterbalanced, or anything like that,” Fowler said in 2023. “It’s very interesting, but it’s kind of freeing me up in a way. I’m not changing stroke-wise, or setup, not gripping anything differently than my normal length putter. I just feel like it’s, I don’t know, kind of helping me do some things, and I don’t have to think about it.”

After the putter switch was proven effective, his fellow PGA TOUR players started to take notice, and some even switched into a replica putter for themselves. Most famously, Wyndham Clark used the Fowler-esque Jailbird putter setup to win the 2023 U.S. Open, and the Jailbird went onto become a top-10 equipment story of 2023 .

In response to the Jailbird craze, Odyssey has released a limited-edition Jailbird 380 putter , and has included various Jailbird profile options into its new Ai-ONE series of putters.

The Jailbird craze hasn’t really slowed down in 2024, either. According to Odyssey rep Joe Toulon, there are about 18-20 Jailbird putter users on the PGA TOUR.

Most recently, Akshay Bhatia won the 2024 Valero Texas Open using a broomstick style Odyssey Jailbird 380 putter and Webb Simpson is switching into a replica of that putter at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.

Now, Fowler, who essentially started the whole Jailbird craze, is making a significant change to his putter setup.

Rickie Fowler started experimenting with a new, custom-orange Jailbird 380 head that’s equipped with a standard 35-inch putter build, rather than his previous 38-inch counter-balanced setup. (Courtesy GolfWRX)

Fowler, who has had a couple weeks off since the 2024 RBC Heritage, started experimenting with a new, custom-orange Jailbird 380 head that’s equipped with a standard 35-inch putter build, rather than his previous 38-inch counter-balanced setup.

According to Fowler, while he still likes the look and forgiveness of his Jailbird putter head, he’s looking to re-incorporate more feel into his hands during the putting stroke.

He told GolfWRX.com on Tuesday at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship that the 38-inch counterbalanced setup “served its purpose” by helping him to neutralize his hands during the stroke, but now it’s time to try the standard-length putter with a standard-size SuperStroke Pistol Tour grip to help with his feel and speed control.

Although Fowler was also spotted testing standard-length mallets from L.A.B. Golf and Axis1 on Tuesday, he confirmed that the custom Odyssey Jailbird 380 is the putter he’ll use this week at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.

We’ll keep an eye on Fowler going forward to see how the change works, and any further testing he conducts, but for now, Fowler is back into a standard-length putter.

2024 Myrtle Beach Classic odds, field: Surprising PGA picks, predictions by model that's nailed 11 majors

Sportsline's proven model simulated the myrtle beach classic 2024 10,000 times and revealed its pga golf picks.

ben-griffin-pga-golf-usatsi.jpg

The PGA Tour has two events in action this week, including the inaugural edition of the Myrtle Beach Classic at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club. The course is nestled right up on the beach in South Carolina, so wind is expected to come in off the ocean and create some potentially tricky situations for the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic field. Matt Wallace is coming off a strong showing at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, and he will be looking to build on that T4 finish against a weaker field this week. Wallace ranks inside the top 25 on the PGA Tour in scoring average, which is why he is among the top golfers on the PGA odds board for the Myrtle Beach Classic at 35-1.

Erik van Rooyen is the 25-1 favorite in the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic odds, followed by Ben Griffin (28-1) and Doug Ghim (30-1). Which golfers should you back with your 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic bets? Before making any 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .

SportsLine's proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model correctly predicted Scottie Scheffler would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, and the RBC Heritage this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,000.

The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 11 majors entering the weekend and hit the Masters three straight years. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the Myrtle Beach Classic 2024 field is finalized, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard .

Top 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the Myrtle Beach Classic 2024: Griffin, who is listed second in the odds this week, stumbles and doesn't even crack the top five. Griffin finished T13 in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson last week after missing the cut in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. He has finished inside the top 40 in five of his last six tournaments, but he has not posted a top-10 finish during that stretch.

In fact, his only top-10 of the season came in The American Express in January when he finished T9 at 24-under. He ranks outside the top 160 on the PGA Tour in total driving and outside the top 120 in GIR percentage. The model does not think he has the tools to put four strong rounds together this week, making him a golfer to avoid with Myrtle Beach Classic bets.

Another surprise: Andrew Novak, a 40-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Novak missed the cut in his first three tournaments of the season, but he has responded with an outstanding stretch of play.

He has made the cut in eight of his last nine events, including top-10 finishes at the WM Phoenix Open, Mexico Open and Cognizant Classic. Novak finished T23 in the Zurich Classic before carding a T30 finish in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson last week. He ranks eighth on the PGA Tour in sand save percentage, which sets him up for success at a beach course that features plenty of bunkers.  See who else to pick here .

How to make 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic picks

The model is also targeting three other golfers with odds of 35-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's picks here .

Who will win the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic, and which longshots will stun the golfing world? James Taylor talks koalas, the 'gravitational attraction' of touring and Taylor Swift

markiplier setup tour

It’s nearly midnight in Australia when James Taylor pops onto the screen , casual in a T-shirt and omnipresent baseball cap.

He’s in the midst of a tour of the country – which he’s visiting for the first time in seven years – and indulges immediate questions not about his legendary career, mellifluous songs, or his upcoming U.S. tour. It's about koalas.

A photo on his Instagram page showcased the soft-spoken Taylor cuddling a native marsupial and he was, indeed, smitten.

“They give off a very calm vibe,” Taylor says. “They’re lovely little critters, and they eat one food. One plant. That’s it. It’s very dialed down.”

Given the soothing tone of so many of Taylor’s staples – “Fire and Rain,” “Your Smiling Face,” “How Sweet It Is” and his signature rendition of Carole King’s “You’ve Got a Friend” – it’s not surprising he found a kindred spirit in a placid (this one, domesticated) koala.

Taylor and his All-Star Band will leave Oz for a summer run in America, starting May 29 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and traveling through cities including Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, Denver and Lenox, Massachusetts, for 50 th anniversary performances July 3-4 at Tanglewood.

The gregarious Taylor , 76, happily eschewed sleep to talk about the “gravitational attraction” of touring, what music he turns to for comfort and the “little scraps of music” that will likely morph into songs for his next album.

Question: When “American Standard” came out in 2020, you became the first act to have a Top 10 album in each of the last six decades and it won your sixth Grammy. Does it stun you when things like that happen at this stage of your career? Answer : Yeah, to me it feels like just continuing and carrying on. I feel as if I’m always in the process of learning how to do this, how to make records, how to tour and how to best do this kind of work and live this kind of life. The unusual thing is it’s been so consistent. Partially when something works, you don’t tend to change it. My evolution has been slow and steady.

On that album, you tackled songs from the American standards canon. Is there another period of music that you would like to do? I keep recorded notes, little scraps of music and ideas and when I get into a pre-writing phase, I’ll start pushing those around. And I’m due for one of those sessions. I’d like to think there is another batch of songs in there. And of course, it used to be that musicians like me, composers like me, would write in batches of 10 or 12 songs and that would make up an album. But now it’s altogether possible to work up five or six songs and let that be it. It’s funny – it used to be that a record deal was necessary to have a career and you used to do all you could to get in the door. Now it’s easy to get in the door, but once you walk through, there are a million people in the room.

I think most people would say they find comfort in your music. What or who do you listen to for comfort? My comfort music is still Brazilian music. I love choral music and since I met (wife) Kim, I’ve had a renewed exposure to classical music and that was an eye-opener for me too. I still have my old favorites that I still love to pieces, Ray Charles is still my favorite, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin , Ry Cooder and Bonnie Raitt. I love salsa and Eddie Palmieri and the Cuban musician Arsenio Rodríguez. I’m still very connected with the musicians who influence me. I happened across a great record the other day by The Coasters – “Shopping for Clothes.” It’s fantastic.

With this tour coming up, do you have to psych yourself up to go on the road or is it just part of your DNA? I think both. It’s familiar. I feel the gravitational attraction of a tour and feel it grab hold. As I approach it, there is some anxiety and you need to prepare yourself physically and emotionally for it. I work on my voice for about a month ahead of time. I’ll pick up my guitar and start playing every day and try to get my chops and technique back and then we start looking at the set and how we might want to change it from the last time we played that city.

Have you ever had a conversation with Taylor Swift about her being named after you?

Yeah, I met her perhaps it was 15-16 years ago. We did a benefit for (the Candie’s Foundation), an organization that tries to help with teenage pregnancy, and it was interesting. We were both just there with guitars and played a couple of songs. I was performing with my wife and may have had a friend of ours playing cello and Taylor was there just playing by herself. She was just a teen. She told me she had listened to my music a lot and that her folks had named her with me in mind.

I know you had a documentary with Carole King a couple of years ago (“Just Call Out My Name”). But will we ever see a definitive James Taylor documentary? I did an autobiographical piece for Audible (“Break Shot: My First 21 Years”) a few years ago and it covers my experience up until getting signed with Apple and then moving on to Warner Bros. It’s just an audiobook, really. I sort of feel as if everything after that has been so public that there is nothing left to share.
