What are the health check requirements?

In the best interest of fans and staff, the Event Organizer is monitoring local COVID-19 trends and will meet or exceed protocols mandated by local governments, local venues and tours. Michelle Obama announces six-city book tour for 'The Light We Carry'

Former First Lady Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama plans a six-city tour this fall in support of her new book , “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times,” beginning mid-November in Washington. D.C. and ending a month later in Los Angeles.

“I’m looking forward to making some new connections — and of course, seeing some familiar faces from the last tour,” the former first lady said in a joint statement Wednesday released through her publisher, Crown, and tour promoter Live Nation.

“This book means so much to me — it’s a collection of perspectives and practices I’ve used to keep me afloat amid uncertainty. On this tour, I’ll be sharing some personal stories and lessons that have helped me along my path, and I can’t wait to tell you more.”

Obama will open at the Warner Theatre in Washington on Nov. 15, the publication date for her book. She will then travel to Philadelphia’s The Met, Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, the Chicago Theatre and San Francisco’s Masonic, before closing at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles.

The venues have seating capacities ranging roughly from 2,000-6,500. The settings are far bigger than for most book events, but smaller than Obama’s stops on the first leg of her tour for the 2018 memoir “Becoming,” when she appeared at the United Center in Chicago and other arenas holding 15,000 or more.

“ Becoming ” was a near-instant million seller and went on to sell more than 17 million copies worldwide, making it the most popular book in modern times written by a former White House resident.

As with “Becoming,” Obama will speak at each city with guest moderators, to be announced later. Oprah Winfrey, Tracee Ellis Ross and Sarah Jessica Parker were among those who joined her for “Becoming.” In partnership with Live Nation, Obama will also set aside tickets at each venue for a select number of community members.

Michelle Obama’s memoir, “Becoming,” was an instant No. 1 New York Times bestseller and became one of the bestselling memoirs of all time after it was released in 2018, accompanied as it was by a sold-out world tour by the former first lady and a star-studded roster of hosts. It was also well-timed for holiday gifting, debuting in mid-November of that year.

This year, Random House imprint Crown, in partnership with live event juggernaut Live Nation, is attempting to re-harness that “Forever First Lady” magic. Fittingly, Nov. 15 will mark the release date of Mrs. Obama’s highly anticipated follow-up, “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times,” along with the launch of a six-city tour.

“I am so excited to share that I will be heading across the country soon to talk with you all about my new book, ‘The Light We Carry,’” said Mrs. Obama in a statement. “I’m looking forward to making some new connections — and of course, seeing some familiar faces from the last tour.”

As described in the advance press for Mrs. Obama’s sophomore effort:

In The Light We Carry , she opens a frank and honest dialogue with readers, considering the questions many of us wrestle with: How do we build enduring and honest relationships? How can we discover strength and community inside our differences? What tools do we use to address feelings of self-doubt or helplessness? What do we do when it all starts to feel like too much? Michelle Obama announces second book, ‘The Light We Carry,’ will be published in November

“This book means so much to me — it’s a collection of perspectives and practices I’ve used to keep me afloat amid uncertainty,” said Mrs. Obama. “On this tour, I’ll be sharing some personal stories and lessons that have helped me along my path, and I can’t wait to tell you more.”

Kicking off the tour on the book’s release day at Washington’s Warner Theatre, Mrs. Obama will also make stops in Philadelphia, Atlanta, her native Chicago and San Francisco before wrapping up the inaugural leg of the tour on Dec. 13 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles.

According to a press release, to accommodate accessibility, those desiring to attend the tour can register for presale on Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan platform now through Sept. 26.

The release also noted: “Verified Fans who receive a code will have access to purchase tickets before the general public on Wednesday, September 28, at 10:00 AM local time. Only fans that have received a unique code will have the chance to purchase tickets on a first come, first served basis. All tickets will be made available during the Verified Fan presale.” All remaining tickets will be sold to the general public beginning Friday, September 30, at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Live Nation and the Crown Publishing Group, a division of Penguin Random House, have announced dates for Michelle Obama ’s fall book tour. The former first lady will kick off the 10-city U.S. tour in her hometown of Chicago on Nov. 13.

Obama will hit major markets across the country including Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Philadelphia and Detroit in support of her memoir, Becoming , which is set to be released on Nov. 13.

“I’ve spent the last year and a half reflecting on my story as deeply and honestly as I could, and now I’m thrilled to travel the country and do the same with readers this fall,” Obama said about her upcoming tour in a release. “I hope that this tour will inspire others to reflect upon and share their own stories — all the joys and sorrows, all the scars and renewals — so that together, we can better recognize that each of us, in our own way, is in a constant process of becoming.”

Attendees will be treated with intimate and honest conversations between the former first lady and a selection of to-be-announced moderators. Becoming: An Intimate Conversation with Michelle Obama will feature her reflections on the extraordinary stories shared in the wide-ranging chapters of her new book.

In a video released on her social media channels, Obama said of the book, “It is totally and utterly me. So I am also a little frightened because it is so candid and honest and open. But I can’t wait to share it with the world.”

Throughout the book and for her live audience, Obama will share the stories that have shaped her from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive, as well as discussing the eight years she spent in the White House. Without an example to follow, Obama will detail her role as the first African American first lady and how she used her position for inclusively and the empowerment of women and girls.

“We are honored to be part of these special events with former First Lady Michelle Obama,” said Tara Traub , senior vice president of Live Nation Touring, in a release. “Hearing her share her story in person will be a memorable life experience for attendees of the Becoming tour and one that will help encourage people to find their own voice and pursue their dreams for a better future — for themselves, their families, and their communities.”

Michelle Obama Is Playing Stadiums On Her New Tour Like the Beyoncé of Books

First Lady Michelle Obama Hosts Event For Spouses Of Government Leaders During UN General Assembly

Michelle Obama, former first lady, and everyone's favorite person, announced the dates and stops for her upcoming book tour and honey, your kween is hitting stadiums. STADIUMS. Like some kind Beyoncé of Books.

Y'all better get ready to run into Michelle stan George W. Bush in the mosh pit. Michelle Obama is playing two dates at the Barclay Center. Two . On the Run tour done ran.

I am obsessed with Michelle Obama, objectively the best American, going on a tour of the nation's largest arenas to promote her upcoming book, Becoming , like the absolute rock star that she is. Can this happen all the time? Can we get Celeste Ng some lasers? I want to see Alexander Chee rappelling down on silks like a Pink concert. Every Samantha Irby reading should begin with her popping out of a trap door in the middle of the stage. We can make this happen!

I think it's time to acknowledge that books are so in right now.

This was just yesterday:

"Hi, I'm Michelle Obama and I'm about to make you do the wave for the written word."

Here's actual footage of me getting my entire life to Michelle Obama calmly and engagingly reading a page from her book while standing at a lectern.

Wild times.

Question: Will they be selling souvenir t-shirts, concert books, hats, onesies, and shot glasses with Michelle Obama's face on them? Should we pre-game in the parking lot? How many wind machines will she be using?

I would not be surprised if a Prince hologram showed up at this event. Not even as part of the performance; just a hologram of Prince in the audience, trying to catch some of Mrs. Obama's wisdom.

You have to respect the audacity of calling this tour "An Intimate Conversation with Michelle Obama." Chicago's United Center holds 23,500 people! I mean, I guess it's more intimate than Michelle Obama flying over Kansas shouting truisms through a megaphone, but really.

That said, I'm not sure what else Mrs. Obama is supposed to do. The people want to see her. Personally, I'm cancelling all of my fall plans so that I can follow her around like a groupie. I'll be like one of those people who dedicated their lives to traveling with the Grateful Dead. Call me the Grateful Getting My Entire Life. See you soon, Michelle! I can't wait to scream until I'm hoarse while you read words at a normal volume in a venue that normally holds hockey games and Taylor Swift concerts. THIS IS LIVING.

NEW YORK (AP) — Michelle Obama plans a six-city tour this fall in support of her new book , “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times,” beginning mid-November in Washington. D.C. and ending a month later in Los Angeles.

“Becoming” was a near-instant million seller and went on to sell more than 17 million copies worldwide, making it the most popular book in modern times written by a former White House resident.

Fans can begin registering from Wednesday through Sept. 26 through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan Platform, https://verifiedfan.ticketmaster.com/michelleobama . Any unsold tickets will be available to the general public starting Sept. 30.

In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most iconic and compelling women of our era. As First Lady of the United States of America—the first African American to serve in that role—she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history, while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the U.S. and around the world, dramatically changing the ways that families pursue healthier and more active lives, and standing with her husband as he led America through some of its most harrowing moments. Along the way, she showed us a few dance moves, crushed Carpool Karaoke, and raised two down-to-earth daughters under an unforgiving media glare.

In her memoir, now available in paperback and as a Young Readers edition, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.

Our Forever FLOTUS Michelle Obama Is Going On A Book Tour—Here's How You Can Attend

In 2018, former first lady Michelle Obama broke countless records with her debut memoir Becoming . Now, it looks like she’s poised to do it all over again.

In a news release shared with ESSENCE, Live Nation and Crown, an imprint of Random House, announced new dates to Mrs. Obama’s upcoming U.S. book tour in support of The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times.

Kicking off in Washington, D.C. on November 15th through Thursday, November 17th, the tour will be riddled with star moderators including Ellen DeGeneres (11/15-11/17), Elizabeth Alexander, Gayle King (11/18), Hoda Kotb (11/19), Tyler Perry (12/2 + 12/3), David Letterman (12/5), Heather McGhee (12/6), Conan O’Brien (12/9), Tracee Ellis Ross (12/10), Michele Norris (12/11), and Oprah Winfrey (12/13).

“For me,  The Light We Carry  book tour will be about starting important conversations and digging deeper into the questions that all of us are grappling with as we live through uncertain times,” Mrs. Obama said in a statement. “I can’t wait to get back on the road and dive into it with such a thoughtful, impressive group of moderators.”

The book The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times will be available on November 15th, which features her “practical wisdom and powerful strategies for staying hopeful and balanced in today’s highly uncertain world.”

This comes on the heels of her highly successful debut, Becoming, which was the highest-selling memoir of all time. Back in 2020, two years after it was published, Bloomberg  reported that nearly 10 million copies had been sold, bringing its publisher Penguin Random House $20 billion in revenue. As of July 2022, the total number of copies sold sits at 17 million.
