Boat tour to Mount Athos from Ormos Panagias

The vessel “Agios Georgios” and “Profitis Ilias” depart at 9:30 from the port of Ormos Panagias to Mount Athos and Ammouliani island, the tour lasts approximately 7.5 hours. Embarkment starts at 8:30. It is wise that the visitors embark 1 hour before the embarkment. You can get your tickets from our official agencies in Ouranoupoli, online or on the vessel. During the summer months June, July and August we propose that you buy your tickets on time, because the number of passengers on each cruise is limited. As we depart from Ormos Panagias to Mount Athos and Ammouliani the schedule is announced from the speakers and there is an update on board. The route to the first monastery lasts 2.5 to 3 hours during which you can enjoy the cruise looking at both the Sithonia Peninsula and the Mount Athos one embracing the Siggitikos bay. If you have a look at the blue sea, you can spot dolphins which usually accompany us on our trip and at the same time you will learn about the history of Mount Athos through the guided tour which is head on board from the speakers. The way the trip takes place depends on the weather conditions. If the weather conditions are favorable, then the trip departs from Ormos Panagias heading to H.M. It is a remarkable place mixing the light blue and green colors which are equally attractive to many exotic destinations colored in turquoise. You will be able to relax there for 2 hours using sunbeds and under the shade of umbrellas, there is a beach bar where you can order anything you desire besides the menu you have already bought. The area is also ideal for those who love exploration and hiking since in its Southern part at the top of the mountain which is approximately 90m tall and 200m long of dirtroad, there is a spot were you will be surely speechless by the panoramic view of the island, the open sea the Sithonia and the Mount Athos peninsula. After 2 hours of relaxation, food and exploration the vessel departs for its last trip today, whose destination is Ormos Panagias and it will be reached in 1 hour and 30 minutes. During the trip our bouzouki player will play and sing for you traditional songs with a Greek aroma. He will be among you so that you will be able to take pictures with him and enjoy his music. Arrival at Ormos Panagias is due at about 17:00.

An exceptional day tour along Mount Athos.

The monastic state, located on the third and eastern peninsula of  Halkidiki , is a self-governing part of the Greek Orthodox Church and its monuments from the Byzantine period are enjoying worldwide fame and they worth to be visited. Since inception (7 to 9 century) women are not permitted to access.

Men can enter the Mount Athos only after obtaining a permit. The today existing 20 monasteries accommodate treasures of inestimable historical value and are infallible witnesses of the Byzantine Empire.

The traditional ship ”Agios Georgios or Prophet Elias” from Ormos Panagia’s port at 09.30 in the morning, it sails along the Sithonia’s bays until we reach our first destination which is Mount Athos at the south top and monastery of Saint Paul.

We continue with a sail along the coast heading to the North in order to see 8 more monasteries from nearest distance allowed without crossing the borders of Mount Athos.

After this trip we will arrive to the port of Ouranoupoli’s or the central port of Ammouliani’s Island (depends on the day) for a stop which will last about 1 hour and a half in order for you to be able to go for a walk, drink a coffee, have lunch in a restaurant of your choice or just for sightseeing around the area.

After an hour we will head to Ormos Panagias which is our last destination, during our return there is live bouzouki on board giving you the opportunity to dance traditional Greek dances,

Our arrival at our final destination Ormos Panagias will be at 17.30.
