Planet Zoo recently released version 1.12 of the game on December 13, 2022 . The update comes with various fixes and some of the game’s new QoL (Quality of Life) tools, like Diorama Mode, Bulldozer Tool, and Guided Tours . If you don’t want to miss out on these important changes in your favorite game, this article will guide you.
Planet Zoo Update 1.12 | Guided Tours Tutorial & Overview
Planet Zoo is a simulation video game that’s similar to the Sims . This game allows you to build your park and maintain it as the number one tourist destination. The latest update makes the game more enjoyable and easier to play.
One of the features worth noting in Planet Zoo is the Bulldozer Tool which could remove large amounts of obstructions in your park. This tool aims to make building and to rebuild faster and more satisfying. The Diorama Mode , on the other hand, allows players to create a diorama of their zoo and share it with the rest of the game’s community via Steam Workshop .
Guided Tours
Guided Tours is the latest addition to the game that allows players to offer a more informative tour about their zoo. Players can completely customized and plan out their guests’ journey through your park by making use of a new Facility: Tour Points .
Tour Points can help players plot the destination and activities of their guests in the zoo. It can easily be done by Tour Points throughout the map. Putting them in an open space or tourist hot spots is highly recommended.
Once you’re done setting all your Tour Points, it’s time for the next step. Click on the Tour Point and go to the Tour Manager . From here, you can fully customized your Guided Tours and see any missing requirements for your tour to start.
The first requirement is selecting a starting point and is usually done on Tour Points near your zoo’s entrance. Once done, you are needed to click each Tour Points to plot the tour route for the 2 nd requirement.
Next requirement would be setting up a Tour Point where the tour route will end . You can put it behind your starting point if you want to put it that way.
To complete your Guided Tour requirement, you will need to assign species in some Tour Points you’ve added to the map. How it works is that your assigned guide will talk about the specific specie you’ve set in a given Tour Point.

How to make profit from rides?

Every time I instal some kind of ride or tour in my zoo, it ends up with negaive income. It happened for gondola, boat, train, every time... Is there a way to make them at least a little profitable? How? Or is it game design that forces players to ensure their income first before adding them into the zoo?
Raise ticket price. My rides are all usually 3 to 4k profit a year, if not more.

The visitors are entitled to such a trip and this involves more than just driving in a circle without anything to see or use. Please don't take it badly, only I noticed that people who built just such a "useless" route and were surprised that it is empty.

I just made a zoo centered around a train ride, see screen shot. It goes through 3 different habitats and only one station for now. The queue is always full and I believe ticket prices are up to $20.

You modify ticket price on each station, the general ride menu doesn't give the option.
The default ticket price is $1 per section, which is nowhere near enough to be profitable. My own Franchise Zoo train is a money pit, losing $4,000 per year. I've kept the $1 ticket price at all stations. I don't really care, as the rest of the zoo more than makes up for the loss, and I want the train primarily to be a people pump, shuttling guests away from the main concourse out to the far corners of the zoo where very few people seem to want to walk all the way over from the main gate.

My answer: Yes. ;) No, really, those are all good strategies that you mentioned. Start with a cheap ticket at each station ($5) or a bit more ($10-15) near the entrance. Then check on the finances of the ride as time goes on.
