Princess Cruises Club Class Perks: 5 Amenities Worth the Splurge

Club Class was introduced on Emerald Princess when it debuted in December 2016. Since then, Princess Cruises has added the VIP cabin category – which includes benefits such as premium location mini-suites and an exclusive dining area – to its entire fleet. Club Class is available to full suite passengers plus those who book an elevated Club Class mini-suite category cabin. It cannot be purchased as an add-on.

Club Class fares can vary, but in general, these special mini-suite staterooms cost an extra A$50 to A$120 per day compared to a regular balcony. Booking a mini-suite does not automatically entitle you to the benefits below. Only some mini-suites are designated Club Class but, given the number of benefits, you would be crazy not to opt for one. The extra cost compared to a standard mini-suite can amount to as little as A$40 for an entire cruise, although this can change depending on the sailing.

So why should you upgrade to Club Class? Overall, you'll find an experience that's more upscale and personal, particularly when it comes to dining. In addition to the Club Class benefits listed below, not having to wait for things makes your cruise holiday more relaxing and enjoyable, plus you can't help but feel just a little bit special as you breeze past the main dining room queue. Club Class is the perfect choice for luxury lovers who want to feel pampered at a reasonable price. Foodies who enjoy Princess Cruises'cuisine but prefer an intimate dining experience will also appreciate this enhanced offering.

1. Premium location mini-suites

If you prefer a mini-suite that is mid-ship or in a highly coveted aft location, Club Class is for you. While you are welcome to choose your Club Class mini-suite location, any one is sure to be good. Club Class mini-suites also include the standard mini-suite benefits, such as a larger stateroom of up to 30 square metres with a balcony, separate seating area with sofa bed and coffee table, bathroom with combination tub and shower and a welcome glass of Champagne.

2. Priority embarkation and disembarkation

Your Club Class experience begins at the port as Club Class passengers board at their leisure. Disregard the suggested time on your boarding pass and arrive whenever you like. On disembarkation day, you can relax in an exclusive disembarkation lounge serving refreshments such as pastries, coffee and tea. If you have a preferred disembarkation time, this can usually be arranged in advance.

3. In-room wine set up

On arrival, a half bottle of white wine and a half bottle of red wine will be waiting in your stateroom (except for China voyages). We enjoyed one bottle during sailaway and kept the other until later in the cruise. The half-bottles can't be taken to the dining room but this doesn't matter as they're the perfect size for a pre-dinner drink on the balcony.

4. Evening canapes

Each day your stateroom attendant will provide a menu that can be filled out with your choice of cocktail snack such as seafood canapes or prosciutto-wrapped grissini, delivered at your preferred time the following day. We liked the way foods such as cured meats and seafood, which are best enjoyed cold and fresh, weren't left sitting in our room when we weren't there.

5. Club Class Dining

If you enjoy having the same wait staff but aren't keen on traditional dining's lack of flexibility, Club Class Dining will really float your boat. Club Class mini-suite and suite passengers dine in an exclusive section of the main dining room, with upgraded settings and a separate Club Class queue with no wait for a table. Speaking of tables, these are widely spaced with the majority set for two, creating an atmosphere that is more in keeping with an onboard specialty restaurant than the bustling main dining room.

Club Class dining is available daily for breakfast and dinner and for lunch on sea days, with the flexibility to dine whenever you wish (except on Pacific Princess, which doesn't offer Anytime Dining). While the menu is the same as the main dining room, there are some lovely additional touches such as a fresh fruit trolley that is wheeled to each table during breakfast and a daily special prepared gueridon-style. On Sea Princess, the debonair Italian Club Class maitre d' whipped up daily dishes from his home town of Genoa. Ask what each night's bespoke dishes are at the start of your cruise, so you can plan specialty dining around them. Whatever you do, don't miss formal night as there will almost certainly be a divine Club Class lobster dish.

One thing that didn't bother us but could be an issue for some passengers (or a major bonus, for those who would prefer not to eat with extended family each night): other passengers cannot dine in this area, even as invited guests, so Club Class may not suit if you're traveling as a group.

We heard that the evening menu at the Elite Platinum Lounge has changed or will change in 2018. Has anyone seen this happen yet? We'll be on the Ruby Princess in Alaska in April.

There will be an card with the location and the list of the appetizers each night in your cabin upon boarding. Which there should have been on each cruise since you became Platinum; the Platinum/Elite/Suite lounge started as a perk around 2010 if memory serves.

What has changed recently is that instead of one nightly drink special there is now a set menu of drinks at a slightly lower price than elsewhere on the ship. But beware that the base to each drink is apparently from a huge batch of pre-mix; in November on Royal Princess when the server saw I had the PBP he said "I'll get you a real Mojito" (or whatever I ordered).

The nightly appetizer was the same as in the past; on my five night cruise there was no sushi night though, but the formal night was still the shrimp tower. One other change is that the crudites (carrots, celery, olives) are portioned out rather than help-yourself; the cheese and crackers are still select what you wish.

On Regal Princess they should use Club 6, every night from 5PM to 7 PM except the night of the Captain's Circle party.

It is still one of our favorite places to have a cocktail or two before dinner. The setting is different depending on the class of ship, so it could be in Club 6 on the Royal class ships, Skywalkers on the Grand/Caribbean/Emerald/etc. or one of the lounges on the other ships.

We enjoy meeting new people and have developed continuing friendships. What we don't enjoy is the way the lounge has evolved into a "bean-counters" area where the appetizers have been reduced and the drinks have increased in price while removing the classic favorites from the menu of those that have the special of the day price. The number of people in the lounge tends to reduce during the cruise because of this in the opinion of the bar staff.

Can you use the PBP in the lounge?

Let me add that we skipped this for the 1st time in a doz+ cruises. We don't like the new drinks. We enjoyed free drinks on our balcony from the mini bar. If they bring back the old selection we go back. Did miss the chit chat before dinner. We walked through several times and it seemed like it was a poor turnout for a cruise with 1200 that were qualified to attend.

The Platinum/Elite/Suite lounge on the Regal Princess is held in Club 6. This is a different event from the Captains' Circle party event that is held in the big lounge at the aft end of deck 7.

Does anyone recall what the 'new' drink selection consists of?

On the Regal now, there are about 8-10 drinks for $6.50.

Mayan Mule, like a Moscow mule but with tequila, Mojito, a blue Martini, and some other very sweet sounding drinks. For 50 cents more I can have Absolute on the rocks! Really miss the old drinks, especially the Chairman of the Board!

Please tell my wife the Mojito is not from a mix...:cool:

On the Royal's December 10 cruise, the event was held in the Vista Lounge due to the number of Platinum and Elite passengers. I'm hoping that next month on Royal it will be in Club 6.

No Chairman of the Board? Say it isn't so!!!

On one of our Regal sailings, PES event was held in Vista Lounge due to number of PE onboard (suite amounts don't change obviously).

On another Regal sailing, it was in Club 6.

Same goes for Royal, either Club 6 or Vista Lounge depending in how many Elite and Platinums onboard...

Only way I know of to get a Chairman is to go to Crooners. Even there, it's not on the menu, but if you ask for it they'll make it ... for $9.50.

A Chairman of the Board is a shot each of Vodka, Gin and Cointreau - have one or two and you may forget to go to dinner....

Chairman of the Board is still on the cocktail menus - the ones that list Vodka Cocktsils, Gin Cocktails, Rum Cocktails, etc. Under Gin page, under Gin martinis at the bottom... Listed with the Vespa, 007 Classic Tanqueray, Very Berry, etc.

Had it made at Mermaid's Bar on pool deck, Crooner's, Club 6, etc - basically all around the ship on Royal...

I have never bothered to go to the Elite Cocktail Party. I get enough food on the ship without having to attend this "party" for a limited selection of appetizers. But I also skip the Captain's Cocktail Party, the Champagne Waterfall, ...

Only way I know of to get a Chairman is to go to Crooners. Even there, it's not on the menu, but if you ask for it they'll make it ... for $9.50.   Jim

If you go to the Captains Circle Party you can ask for a Chairman of the Board when they offer you the rum punch or cheap ship champagne. It might take 5 minutes, but they will bring it. Worth the wait.

Princess Cruises Announces VIP Package for ‘The Love Boat’ Cruise

Princess Cruises announced an exclusive VIP package for its second Love Boat-themed cruise featuring the show’s characters – Doc, Gopher, Isaac, and Vicki Stubing.

Princess Cruises Celebrations Ambassador Jill Whelan (aka Vicki) will join Love Boat cast members including Bernie Kopell (Doc), Fred Grandy (Gopher) and Ted Lange (Isaac) for the second themed cruise, sailing aboard the Enchanted Princess to Canada/New England, August 31-Sept. 7, 2024, according to a press release. 

Ezra Freeman, the bartender from “The Real Love Boat” reality dating series on CBS and Paramount+, will also join the lineup.

“After the tremendous outpouring of love on the first themed cruise, we knew we had to create an exclusive experience for our super fans on the upcoming voyage,” said Whelan. “My castmates and I are highly anticipating the upcoming cruise, where we’ll be able to spend more time with these passionate cruisers and fans and we can’t wait to hear how the show impacted their lives.”

The new Love Boat VIP Package with exclusive access to the cast includes:

• Exclusive Cast Cocktail Party – practice the Isaac finger-point
• Reserved seating at the Q&A in the Princess Theater – hear the cast members share their favorite show-related stories, with premier seating

Ultimate Guide to Princess Cruises Drinks Prices & Menus

In this post you’ll find the  Princess Cruises drinks menus and prices , correct as of 2022. Is a drinks package worth it? Making a decision about purchasing a drinks package can be difficult, so this post is designed to help you.

I was fortunate to sail on Sky Princess in August 2021 and April 2022. I took photos of the Princess Cruises drinks menus with prices whilst onboard to help you to plan your budget.

Princess Cruises Drinks Guide

On Princess, drinks can be purchased individually or with a drinks package. Princess Cruises drinks packages can be purchased in advance or within the first two days of getting onboard. If you decide to wait until you get onboard, the beverage package price is added to your onboard account and paid at the end of your cruise.

There are no advantages to waiting until you get on your cruise to buy the drinks package. The price is the same whether you purchase in advance or on embarkation day.

Instead of a beverage package, you may want to consider Princess Plus or Princess Premier. In almost all cases, Princess Plus offers the best value to cruisers as it includes a drinks package along with WiFi and crew gratuities/incentives.

Princess Premier is a new package that has been introduced in 2022 so I’d recommend taking a look at my breakdown of what’s included in the Princess Premier Package to see if it’s worth it.

This Princess Cruises drinks guide provides you with the individual prices, sourced from bar menus onboard. Although these prices are from Sky Princess, the prices seem to be the same across all Princess Cruises’ ships.

The Plus Beverage Package includes all drinks up to $12, the Premier Beverage Package includes all drinks up to $18. all alcoholic drinks by the glass

If you choose a drink that is greater than the beverage package limit, you must pay the individual drink’s price in full (new change to package rules).

Beer on Princess Cruises

There’s only one non-alcoholic lager available – Heineken 0.0 at $5.50.

Princess Cruises Drinks Menu: Ciders

There are only two ciders available on Princess ships. There are no berry fruit ciders at present on any of the menus.

White Wine List on Princess Cruises

Most of the wine on Princess Cruises can be purchased from the bars by the glass or by the bottle. If you have the Plus or Premier Beverage Packages, wine by the glass is included but you can only get a 25% discount when buying a bottle.

Princess Cruises Drinks Menu: Red Wine List

The best place to enjoy wine on Princess ships is at Vines Wine Bar, usually located on Deck 5 of the Piazza. Here you have access to wines you cannot find anywhere else on the ship.

Red wine prices range from $9 to $21 per glass.

Princess Wine List: Rose Wine

If you like to taste a range of different wines, wine flights are available from Vines Wine Bar in the Piazza. Wine flights are not part of the exclusions from the beverage packages are therefore are included in the Plus Package (up to $12) and Premier Package (up to $18).

The Norman Love Wine Flight pairs wine with chocolate for those who love both!

Champagne and Sparkling Wines

Champagne Cocktails

In certain bars you will be able to order Champagne cocktails. It’s more likely the inside bars will do these such as Take Five, Bellini’s and Vines.

Remember, the Plus Beverage Package covers drinks up to $12 and the Premier Beverage Package covers drinks up to $18.

Different venues around the ship will offer signature cocktails and therefore not every bar offers the same menu but there are classic cocktails you can get pretty much everywhere.

Many of the following cocktails can be found in the Crown Grill Bar . You don’t need a reservation in the Crown Grill to use this bar.

Cocktails in Take Five

Take Five is the jazz lounge on Sky Princess and is a great venue to enjoy a drink and jazz music every evening.

Princess Cruises Martini List

The widest selection of martinis can be found in the Crown Grill Bar, Take Five and Crooners.

Mocktails on Princess Cruises

The Princess Cruises drinks list is limited but it’s worth asking the bar staff if you can make a cocktail alcohol free e.g. Virgin Pina Colada, Virgin Bloody Mary.

Mocktails are included in the following beverage packages:

• Premier Beverage Package  ($79.99 USD pppd incl. 18% gratuities)
• Plus Beverage Package  ($70.79 USD pppd incl. 18% gratuities)
• Premier Coffee and Soda Package  ($23.59 USD pppd incl. 18% gratuities)
• Classic Soda Package  ($11.79 USD pppd incl. 18% gratuities)

Scotch Menu on Princess Cruises

The Plus Beverage Package includes all drinks up to $12, the Premier Beverage Package includes all drinks up to $18.

If you choose a drink that is greater than the drinks package limit, you simply pay the difference.

The sodas onboard Princess ships are fountain or cans. Fountain sodas are included in the following beverages packages:

If you have one of these packages, cans of soda are not included but you can get a 25% discount on them.

Bottled Water

Bottled water may or may not be included in your drinks package depending on the size of bottle and the package you have.

A 500ml bottle of natural spring water is included in the Premier and Plus Beverage Packages but is not included in the non-alcoholic beverage packages (a 25% discount is included).

If you choose the Plus or Premier Beverage Package you have a 25% discount on 1 litre bottles of natural spring water.

Coffee and Tea Prices on Princess Cruises

The biggest selection of coffee and tea can be found at the International Cafe in the Piazza. There is a small choice of coffee and tea in the buffet.

These can be ordered in small or large sizes.

Final Thoughts on Princess Cruises Drinks

These  Princess Cruises drinks menus and prices , will hopefully give you a useful way to calculate whether a drinks package is needed.

The majority of the drinks are covered in the Plus Beverage Package and the cheapest option is purchase the Princess Plus add-on package , which includes drinks up to $12, unlimited WiFi and crew appreciation (tips) for $50 / £40 per person per day.

If you don’t plan to drink more than 5 or 6 alcoholic drinks a day you may be better off paying for drinks individually – it all depends on what you like to drink.
