The historic Stanley Hotel has begun to safely reopen its doors to the world and tucked behind the allure of the famous lodging and incredible dining sit the hidden gems that are the memorable walking tours.

Immerse yourself in the rich story of the historic Stanley Hotel with a 75-minute walking tour that will introduce you to the original owner Mr. F.O. Stanley, his wife Flora, Stephen King, and other noteworthy visitors of last 110 years.

The Stanley Day Tour is a unique way to experience the hotel’s history, architecture, folklore, and pop culture while being guided by a knowledgeable storyteller. Each tour offers you opportunities to explore, ask questions, and perhaps leave with a few stories of your own.

The Day Tour is currently limited to 10 people and, for the safety of all guests and employees, masks will be required under Larimer County guidelines.

The cost of admission is $23 per person, $20 for hotel guests, $17 for anyone under the age of 17, and $20 for AAA members, Military members and seniors.

Children under the age of eight are not permitted on the Day Tour but are encouraged to check out the Family and Friends Tour. This interactive tour is geared toward kids eight and under, but is great for the whole family.  The experience takes a different approach to learning about F.O. Stanley as participants try their eye at a special I-spy game during the tour.

The Family and Friends Tour is limited to 15 people and last between 50-60 minutes. Price of admission for adults is $15 per person, $12 for guests of the hotel and $10 per child between the ages of 5-12, $7 for hotel guests.

Operation of the Family and Friends Tour is currently suspended but will be back in action this summer.

Not only is the grand Stanley Hotel a member of the Historic Hotels of America, but it's also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel opened in 1909 to provide a luxurious retreat for East Coast vacationers making a pilgrimage to Estes Park. Electric lights, telephones and automobiles all welcomed visitors, and the surrounding town developed rapidly in the Stanley Hotel's wake. Aside from its historic accolades, the property boasts another claim to fame as the inspiration behind the Overlook Hotel in Stephen King's "The Shining." As if its association with the horror novel weren't enough, the hotel also touts its own history of paranormal activity . To learn more, visitors can take one of two tours – a daytime tour that focuses more on pop culture and a night tour that concentrates on the property's ghost lore.

Whether day or night, past travelers said the tour guides are fantastic storytellers and that they impart a bevy of interesting tidbits.

Standard tickets cost between $23 and $28 per adult for those not staying at the hotel (hotel guests are granted discounted tickets). Day tours run from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily, and night tours run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. daily. Both tours depart on 30-minute intervals and last one hour. Rocky Mountain National Park encompasses more than 250,000 acres and boasts 124 named mountain peaks. For a more manageable hike, visitors suggest the roughly 3-mile Emerald Lake Trail . If you choose to tackle this trail, plan to arrive early in the day to beat the daily crowds that descend on the trail. For first-time hikers, travelers recommend the 2-mile Dream Lake Trail, a scenic out-and-back route that will prove manageable for most fitness levels.

2024 NHL Playoffs bracket: Stanley Cup Playoffs schedule, start times, games, TV channels for Round 1

The 2024 nhl postseason is in full swing.

The 2024 NHL Playoffs have officially arrived, providing some of the most heart-pounding action in the sports world. With the Vegas Golden Knights set to defend their title, the chase for Lord Stanley's Cup is underway. 

The New York Rangers captured the Presidents' Trophy with the best record throughout the 2023-24 regular season. When the regular season concluded, the Rangers finished with a 55-23-4 record (114 points) as they just edged out the Dallas Stars for that honor.

The structure of the playoffs is as follows:

• The division winner with the most points in each conference will face the second Wild Card team in the first round. The division winner with fewer points in each conference will match up with the top Wild Card team in the first round.
• Each series will be a best-of-seven format.
• Home-ice advantage goes to the team with the top seed in the first two rounds of the playoffs. The team with the most points in the regular season has home-ice advantage in the conference finals and Stanley Cup Final.
• The Stanley Cup Playoffs will begin on April 20 with a matchup between the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Islanders .
