Hose Reel Traveler Irrigation
Keeping it reel.
Advantages of hose reel traveler irrigation.
Traveling sprinklers were developed as an affordable means to significantly reduce labor and increase irrigation uniformity, especially for odd shaped fields. The primary advantages include:
- Continuous movement contributes to uniformity
- Adaptable to irregular fields, obstructions, and undulating terrain
- Low labor requirement
- Extremely portable and storable
- Irrigate a wide range of crops
Nelson Big Gun® Sprinklers are ideally suited for hose reel traveler irrigation for a number of reasons including:
- Durability for long-lasting, reliable operation
- Flexibility with a variety of nozzle sizes and types
- Reparability: Easy to repair with readily available parts.
The premium performance of Big Gun® Sprinklers
The sprinkler size, trajectory, and nozzle options from Nelson provide a customizable solution for your hose reel traveler. The most popular Big Gun Sprinklers for hose reel traveler irrigation are the 100 Series and 150 Series. These water cannons pair to the most common hose reel machines for application rate, flow, and operating pressure. For smaller machines, the 75 Series may be better suited. The 200 Series Big Gun is best suited for the largest hose reel traveler machines and its high volume and long radius of throw are as impressive as they are effective.
Sprinklers with 21° trajectory are most commonly used on hose reel travelers because they offer the best balance of throw distance and wind resistance. Higher trajectories (24° and 27°) are also available to maximize the distance of throw in calm conditions.
Precision engineered for irrigation and wastewater applications.
The Big Gun's efficient taper ring nozzles provide an excellent balance between stream diffusion and throw distance. They are interchangeable to simplify the customization of the sprinkler flow rate to the crop needs. The new 100 and 150 Series plastic nozzles are an economical alternative to aluminum and are made from the same field-proven material as Nelson pivot sprinkler nozzles.
Hose reel travelers featuring Nelson Big Gun water cannons are also a useful solution for eliminating wastewater. The Big Gun’s large nozzle sizes reduce the level of waste treatment or filtration required, and their large throw diameters reduce the application rate. Low-trajectory options can reduce susceptibility to drift and evaporation.
Automatically change the SR150 arc on hose reel travelers to keep irrigation water within the boundaries of the field.
The industry standard and most versatile high volume sprinkler.

Compact and effective reel sprinkler! The MR25 connects to a standard ¾ inch garden hose to operate totally unattended, with flows ranging from 3 to 10 gallons per minute. The sheer ease of setup and operation makes the MR25 very popular with homeowners for watering large lawns and gardens.
The MR32 combines heavy duty, quality steel frame and reel construction with the simple, yet maneuverable two wheel design like it's smaller counterpart-the MR25. Build to withstand heavy use, the MR32 operates from a 1 inch line (or 3/4" hose if flow and pressure is adequate) and allows irrigated areas up to 300 feet long and 120 feet wide for sports fields, horse arenas, hobby farms, or any area up to 4 acres.
The MR43 is one of our most popular machines and meets a variety of irrigation needs including single pass coverage on football fields, large riding arenas, small acreage irrigation, and much more! Built with a three wheel chassis design and integrated stabilizer hitch, the MR43 has a flow range from 15 to 60 gallons per minute and a 393 feet hose length. The MR43 can effectively water up to 1.5 acres in a single pull!
The MR50, 58, and 63 utilize the same chassis and drum size in our large line, and feature automatic cart lift at the completion of a run. The 558 feet hose length on the MR50 is convenient for irrigating longer runs with wetted lengths up to 650 feet. A 5.5 or 9 HP booster kit may be added to increase pressure and performance.
The MR58 carries 460 feet of tube length, and is a good fit for many applications. With flows up to 100 gallons per minute, the MR 58 is capable of watering up to 2 acres in a single pass! This model is widely used for larger sports fields, hobby farms, parks, polo fields, and more. A powerful 9 HP booster kit may be added for attaining maximum coverage.
The MR58RL is equipped with all of the great features of the Micro Rain line, and also includes a rotating base and heavy galvanized frame and chassis.
The MR63 is capable of delivering the largest volumes in Micro Rain line! This model boasts a large diameter 2.1 inch hose that is 328 feet in length. If large amounts of water are available for use, the MR63 can utilize up to 140 gallons per minute for the serious irrigator. Uses for the MR63 include football fields with both natural and artificial surfaces where large amounts of water need to be applied in a short amount of time.

Testimonials
"We were able to apply manure to our hay crop in early spring using Kifco, which enabled us to get into our 3rd cutting by mid-July. We could’ve never done that using tankers." -John Patterson
"The great thing about Kifco Water-Reels is that I can irrigate my hay meadows, easily move the machine a few hundred feet, and then irrigate my pastures so that my animals can graze on healthy grass and then move it back to the meadow or wherever else I need water. It’s so simple." -Everard Droemer, Giddings, TX
Traveling Guns
Passionate – Experienced – Professional
Traveling guns are used to spread manure, irrigate pastures, or water row crops.
How They Work
Traveling guns are easy to operate. Use the hydraulic controls to set the reel in place for added stability. Attach the water source, then pull the gun cart to the length of the high-strength hose on the cart using a tractor or truck. Next, turn on your pump and the turbine on the reel or a small motor will slowly pull the cart in as it pumps. Once the cart is back at the reel, the turbine or motor is disengaged and the unit can be moved to the next location.

Aqua Lawn, Inc. is a local, family owned business that has been servicing the Washington & Idaho Palouse for over 20 years! It was founded back in 1995 By Dave & Gayle Marsh who saw a need for an irrigation company in the area & decided to fill that need. In 1997 the current owner Brandon Briggs moved to the Moscow, ID area to attend college & began working at Aqua Lawn as a summer job through his college years. After taking a break from school & working at Aqua Lawn full-time for a couple of seasons Brandon returned to finish his degree at the University of Idaho in 2004 with an emphasis in Landscape Architecture & Business. Upon his graduation he was offered a partnership with Dave & Gayle and with his already adept ability running the day to day operations he blossomed into a key role for the company. In 2006 Dave & Gayle approached Brandon & his wife Harmony about buying them out of the business so they could pursue their dreams of living in a warmer climate & following their drive to serve their Lord in new avenues in Phoenix, AZ. Brandon & Harmony officially took over the business in January of 2007. Harmony, having grown up on the Palouse in a farm family soon quit her job working in elementary education & took over running the office full-time.
In the winter of 2007, Brandon took the courses required to become a Select Contractor recognized by the RainBird Corporation as one of the industry’s leading pacesetters in irrigation design & installation. RainBird is known for its innovative and water-efficient products used to design the most ecologically aware sprinkler systems to date. Brandon went on to obtain his EPA Water Sense Certification and through further study was recognized by the national Irrigation Association as a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor. Aqua Lawn is also a member of the National Association of Home Builders and the Building Industry Association of Washington.
In 2008 another local company YardQuick Landscaping, with which Aqua Lawn had worked closely for many years, approached the couple for a buyout and soon hydroseeding & fertilizer enhanced the day to day services provided by the company. Brandon’s skill in landscaping soon brought the company into full-scale landscape construction mode as Aqua Lawn became a power-house in the local landscaping arena.
Brandon has been asked to speak at the local Palouse Basin Water Summit and is dedicated to environmental awareness in collaboration with the landscaping industry. He has been handpicked by the City of Moscow to spearhead the irrigation design & installation on all of the city’s “Wisescape” Projects including the City Water Dept. & the newly renovated City Hall. In collaboration with the University of Idaho and Palouse Clearwater Environmental Institute Aqua Lawn lead the irrigation for the Army Corps of Engineers Relocation of Paradise Creek in 2010.
Twelve years later the couple has grown the company from its small beginnings to one of the leading area irrigation & landscape service providers. Their roots on the Palouse run deep & they are committed to bringing quality products & services to their customers far & wide. With a working radius of 80 miles from their Pullman location they have been meeting the needs of their residential & commercial customers for over a decade and will continue to pass along new ideas & innovations in landscaping & irrigation as these advances hit the market.

Crop Circles on Moscow Map?
By TG-55Panthercules March 28, 2017 in General Discussion

Tg-55panthercules.
The thread about which map had better terrain/airfields got me thinking, and I realized most of my test runs in QMB have been using the Stalingrad maps, so I went in and did some free-flying QMB on the Moscow Autumn map. I was puzzled by what appeared to be circles of some sort (see below). I thought at first that they might be some sort of gun emplacement areas, but they didn't appear to be that when I zoomed in on them. They looked a bit like what I've seen flying over the midwest USA when farmers are using a certain kind of irrigation equipment (that pivots around a central hub and waters in circles) - was that a thing in 1940s Russian agriculture? Or maybe they're crop circles? (Was that a thing in 1940s Russian ufology?)
Any ideas what these are? (my best guess - I had all the target options like artillery and stuff turned off in the QMB so I could just fly around unmolested - does the QMB put the emplacement areas on the map even though it isn't going to put the guns in them for the mission?)

Maybe it's caused by irrigation equipment, but similar circles can develop when prehistoric burial mounts are flattened by modern ploughing. I've often seen such structures on aerial photos from central Europe.
=ARTOA=Bombenleger
those crop circles where made by aliens in Yak 3Ps! :D
That is strange! It could be harvesting done in a traditional way. I saw a technique once that looked a bit like this. You would start out cutting the grain either with scythe or more modern equipment, and pile the grain in the middle as you move outwards.
There isn't a Moscow map in Cliffs of Dover?
A graphic anomoly. I doubt it`s burial mounds or the mythical crop circles unless these are photographic textures taken from the real thing.
Or an Easter egg joke by the devs, but I doubt it.
II/JG17_HerrMurf
Saw that for the first time today. Didn't think much of it and assumed it was irrigation circles like in the US heartland.
Cloning tool usage gone wrong.
When I first saw them, I thought they were shell craters from the Battle of Borodino (1812), but they're all over the place, so that can't be it.
Well, it isn't what I suspected - I went in and flew another QMB mission with all the ground targets turned on, and there's still nothing in those circles.
I hope maybe the devs could shed some light on this?
I suspect that in actual fact it could be old craters from artillery/bombing attacks that have now become overgrown. That's not as interesting as some of the other suggestions though.
ShamrockOneFive
I always thought they were irrigation circles personally. But I don't know if that's actually the case.
BlitzPig_EL
No way it's irrigation.
Center-pivot irrigation was invented in 1940 [4] by farmer Frank Zybach, [5] who lived in Strasburg, Colorado . [4] It was recognized as a method to improve water distribution to fields. [3]
No way it's irrigation. From Wiki:
You don't think it's possible for the Russians to have copied it, at least on a limited basis, by 1941? It didn't take them that much longer to copy the B-29, and that was waaayyy more complicated than circular irrigation would have been.
SCG_Space_Ghost
This is a terrible way to try to validate that it doesn't have anything to do with irrigation.
"The American's invented it a whole year before the battle so there's no way that technology could have ended up on the steppe a year later!"
Guys remember your history. Its lend lease irrigation equipment duh. It even came with made-in-USA 100 octane fuel.
Irrigation began about 5000 years ago. You`re telling me that it took till 1940 before someone figured out a way to have the water spray out in a circle on a field? That`s hard to believe.
It may not be documented, but it could have easily been around before the official invented date. Also don`t rely on wikipedia for anything concrete.
Its well known:Space Aliens have taken the city, that's why there is a force field saround the city that prevents us from flying over the captive area...

I think you hit the nail!

Lazyness in use of terrain paintbrush / Artifact from terrain texture conversion.
Now that is picture of one of the great cinema moments. Nowhere near as scary as the remake though.
Is not that circles made by pilots trying taxi their planes like in MP servers?
LOL easily could have been me then. Sorry about that folks! :D

Panther + Hercules ?!?!?!
Now that is picture of one of the great cinema moments. Nowhere near as scary as the remake though. Von Tom
Ok just for you , here's an updated pic, this craft certainly was big enough to create the Crop Circles & create the force field around Moscow! :
( But the original, had a better script & better direction & scarier music...I will admit James Arness as the thing was a bit of a let down, but it was an earlier time..)
Yep - it was the nick I was using playing one of those Greek city-building games (Zeus: Master of Olympus, IIRC) way back when, and just stuck with it ever since.
Well, I'm not saying it was aliens....
.... but it was aliens.

If it is on the Moscow map it is not steppe - steppe does not start until hundreds of kms further south. Moscow area has plenty of precipitation during the growing season, irrigation not required. If anything, drainage is a much more important requirement.
I like the ancient burial mound suggestion best, but I fear that the texture artifact explanation, though mundane, must surely be right.

I'm not assessing what the circles actually are, just pointing out that the statement I was responding to didn't make sense.
"X was invented in 1940... There's no way they'd have that in 1941!"
Well Space_Ghost, you need to place yourself in the middle of the US as a farmer in 1940 for a start.
No internet, no TV, no rapid dissemination of information... Just a man on a farm that figures out a good way to efficiently use the water resources at hand. The industry to manufacture the thing didn't spring up over night, especially in 1940 as the US was still in the tail of the Great Depression.
So how did the Russians get the stuff up and running on the other side of the planet a year later?
How did they even find out about it? A spy behind every bush in the middle of the corn belt of the US in 1940?

Surface irrigation, also called "gravity irrigation," is the oldest form and is still widely used around the world. The technique involves water seeping into the soil as it flows down slopes or hills across the surface. Sprinkler irrigation types include fuel- and electric-powered center-pivot and linear-move systems.
