The tour is now underway

With the band now on tour, we decided to take a look at their set list, which is packed with some of S Club's biggest hits including 'Reach' and 'S Club Party'.

What is the set list for 'The Good Times Tour'?

Take a look at the full set list below:

This setlist is representative of one show on S Club's tour, and other gigs may differ.

How did S Club announce their tour?

S Club announced their reunion tour back in February 2023, originally called 'S Club 7 Reunited Tour', however, just weeks after S Club 7 announced their reunion tour would take place, the sad news came that Paul Cattermole had passed away at the age of 46 on 6th April.

Following this sad news, fans were wondering if their tour would go ahead, however on 14th May, the band confirmed it would in an emotional statement .

Tina Barrett, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara, Jon Lee and Rachel Stevens confirmed in an emotional video that they would be renaming the tour as 'The Good Times Tour'. This is named after the song that Paul was going to sing. Sadly Hannah Spearritt is also not joining them on tour, she has now been announced to take part in Dancing On Ice.

Revealing the exciting reunion news on Thursday 16th February they shared a throwback photo saying: 'GENERAL SALE LIVE at 10AM GMT tomorrow, Friday 17th February, with a SECOND LONDON SHOW at the O2 on 27th October! Who's ready?!?! 🪩🫶🏼'. (sic)

Speaking on reuniting, the band said: "After eight years it feels amazing to announce that we're reuniting and performing together again. We're so excited to bring the S Club Party back to our fans across the country to celebrate 25 years of S Club 7. We can't even believe it's been so long! Music and friendship have always been at the core of everything that we've ever done. We hope everyone can join us for one big party!!"

Will S Club be releasing new music?

Initially, S Club say they wouldn't be releasing new music before their tour, however, in July 2023, the band did release a new song, as a tribute to the late Paul Cattermole. The song ' These Are The Days ' was their first new music in more than 20 years.

Don't forget you can hear some great throwback songs on Hits Radio.

Take a look through some of the biggest pop comebacks:

Girls aloud.

Girls Aloud, made up of Cheryl Tweedy, Kimberley Walsh, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Nadine Coyle, were formed on ITV talent show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 and went on to become one of the UK's biggest girl groups, famous for songs 'The Promise', 'Sound Of The Underground' and 'Biology'. After reigning supreme at the top of the charts for a number of years, the girls decided to take a hiatus in 2009 to pursue solo projects and promised that they would reunite in 2010 to release another album. Girls Aloud briefly interrupted the hiatus to do two shows supporting Coldplay along with Jay-Z at Wembley Stadium. The studio album never happened, though, and it took three years for Girls Aloud to reunite for the group's 10th anniversary. In 2012, they released single 'Something New', a greatest hits album and a farewell tour called 'TEN'. After the tour, they announced that they had decided to split in a statement released on Twitter. Although the girls had plans to reunite for their 20th anniversary, Sarah Harding was diagnosed with cancer and sadly passed away in 2021, with the girls admitting at the time they were in the right mindset. In November 2023, Cheryl, Kimberley, Nicola and Nadine confirmed plans of a 2024, which will be 'celebration of Sarah'. The tour will see the band play dates in the UK and Ireland across May and June 2024.

In March 2023, Busted announced they would be reuniting to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Known for hits such as '3AM' and 'Crashed the Wedding', the band started in 2000, before having a hiatus between 2005 and 2015. Busted reunited in 2015, before starting another hiatus in 2019, but as of 2023 they are back with an arena tour planned in September 2023.

Even though Take That's split in 1996 caused many heartbroken fans to take the day off school (a helpline was also created), they DELIGHTED us all in 2005 when they confirmed that they will be 'back for good' with comeback single 'Patience'. Even though Robbie Williams has made a few appearances with the group since the comeback (he originally refused to come back after he left in 1995), Take That currently consists of Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Gary Barlow. Jason Orange also left the band for good in 2014. Take That are still very much together and their comeback is considered to be one of the most successful of all time.

Irish boyband Boyzone made their way into our hearts when they were formed in 1993, but it was single 'Love Me For A Reason', released in 1994, that broke them into the British charts. The band was originally made up of Keith Duffy alongside Michael Graham, Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch and the late Stephen Gately – who sadly died in 2009 aged 33. Boyzone split in 1999 to pursue solo projects. They did a brief tour in Ireland in early January 2000 before going their separate ways. They reformed in 2007, announcing a tour for the following year. Boyzone toured again in 2009, their last as a five. In 2018, Boyzone released album 'Thank You and Goodnight' with artists Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran writing for the band's final album which also marked their 25-year anniversary. Despite the band saying they will be splitting for good following their 'Thank You and Goodnight' tour, lead singer Ronan Keating has admitted that the Boyzone book will never be fully closed and there's even talk of a Boyzone movie!

Jonas Brothers

Disney channel favourites the Jonas Brothers, made up of Joe, Nick and Kevin, enjoyed HUGE success when they burst on the pop/rock scene in 2005 but they also endured a lot of drama. In 2013, brothers Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas decided to take a hiatus from the group and cancelled 23 tour dates between October and December, citing a "deep rift within the band" over "creative differences." Then in February 2019, the Jonas Brothers announced their comeback via social media and released single 'Sucker'. Jonas Brothers have continued to release music since reforming and in 2023 they are set to perform a one-off gig in London for fans called One Night Only Jonas Brothers.

Spice Girls

Girl Power ruled the 90s, didn't it? The Spice Girls, made up of Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham, ruled the charts until 1998 when Geri decided to leave citing exhaustion and creative differences. The group's final album, 'Forever' was released in 2000. The band have made three comebacks since, first in 2007 and 2012 with Victoria Beckham and again in 2019 without her. To mark the 25th anniversary of debut single 'Wannabe', an EP was released in July 2021 that included previously unreleased demos. The Spice Girls then released 'Spice25', a deluxe reissue of Spice featuring previously unreleased demos and remixes.

Steps, made up of Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Ian 'H' Watkins, Lee Latchford-Evans and Lisa Scott-Lee, delighted fans in 2020 when they announced their comeback - 23 years after their music debut. The band exploded onto the pop music scene in 1997 with hits such as 'Tragedy' and '5,6,7,8'. They even supported Britney Spears on tour in the US in 1999. However, the band shocked everyone on Boxing Day in 2001 when they announced that they had split. They briefly reunited in 2011 and 2012 to perform a 12-date arena tour. They then promised fans that there was new music to come. It took a few years, but the band released their fifth studio album, Tears on the Dancefloor, on 21st April 2017. The group are now back having released seven studio albums to date.

Known for songs 'Swear It Again', 'If I Let You Go' and 'Flying Without Wings', Irish group Westlife, who were originally made up of Nicky Byrne, Brian McFadden, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, and Shane Filan formed in 1998. However, in 2004, Brian decided to leave the band to spend more time with his family and has no plans to rejoin the group despite being on 'good terms' with the boys. Before their split in 2011, the group released 13 albums, embarked on 12 world tours, earned 28 platinum discs and sold more than 55 million records across the globe. In October 2018, Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, and Shane Filan reunited on the band's 20th anniversary and released comeback album 'Spectrum' with the help of Ed Sheeran. They also announced a huge tour including two Belfast dates and a massive gig at Croke Park. In November 2021, the boys released their album 'Wild Dreams' before going on tour in 2022.

Swedish pop legends ABBA never actually split, but they 'parted ways' after winning Eurovision with 'Waterloo' in 1974 and quickly rising to global stardom. In 2018, the band announced they were going to be releasing brand new music for the first time in 35 years. The band, made up of Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, announced the exciting news on Instagram. In 2021, the new music was finally released and named a new project 'ABBA Voyage'. The band released an album called 'Voyage' on 5th November 2021, with tracks 'I Still Have Faith In You' and 'Don't Shut Me Down'.

Backstreet Boys

American boy band Backstreet Boys, made up of Nick Carter, A.J. McLean, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell and Howie Dorough, ruled the charts in the late 90s with hits such as 'I Want It That Way' and 'Everybody'. In 2006, Kevin decided to leave the band to pursue other interests and although the band continued without him, it took until 2012 for Kevin to rejoin them. The group enjoyed another stint at the top of the charts when they celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2013 and have since made surprise comebacks every few years to the delight of their fans. In 2023, the boys are on their 'DNA' tour.

Destiny's Child

Made up Beyoncé Knowles, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, Destiny's Child's biggest hits included 'Survivor', 'Say My Name' and 'Bills, Bills, Bills'. The group went their separate ways following a farewell performance at the 2006 NBA All-Star Game and went on to have solo careers. However, the girls are still close and have reunited a couple of times over the years, including at Beyonce's 2013 Super Bowl performance and again at Coachella in 2018. Speaking about the group's unbreakable bond, Beyoncé told Entertainment Tonight: "It's 20 years. We've known each other for so long and the industry doesn't really make friendships. It's the nature of it, and we still have each other after all these years."

With Number 1 songs like 'C'est la Vie', 'Rollercoaster', 'To You I Belong' and 'Blame It on the Weatherman', Irish girl group B*Witched enjoyed a huge amount of success in the 90s. 25 years later twin sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch, along with Lindsay Armaou and Sinéad O'Carroll, announced they would be reuniting to celebrate their 25th anniversary and releasing a new song called 'Birthday'.

The X Factor has produced some pretty impressive groups over the years. In 2008, all singing and dancing JLS, consisting of Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Oritse Williams and JB Gill, were born. The four-piece enjoyed huge success with singles 'Beat Again' and 'Everybody in Love' but announced their intention to split in 2013 with a farewell tour and compilation album. The boys delighted fans in 2020 when they revealed plans to reunite after seven years apart. However, their comeback 'Beat Again' tour was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic and was rescheduled to October 2021. The band have now announced another tour called: 'EVERYBODY SAY JLS: The Hits Tour'.

Back in the late 90s and early 2000s seven-piece pop group S Club 7, made up of Rachel Stevens, Hannah Spearritt, Tina Barrett, Jo O'Meara, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh and the late Paul Cattermole, ruled the charts. The band defined late '90s to early '00 pop music but sadly announced that they were splitting in 2003 (live on stage). The group reunited for a brief tour in 2015, during which they released the previously unheard song 'Rain' but we've had no new music since. Then, in 2020, Tina hinted that the band are "up for" getting back together after she thought that Giovanna Fletcher's choice to play the band's hit song 'Reach' as her luxury item on this years I'm A Celebrity was a "sign". In February 2023, the news that fans have been waiting for was confirmed, with the original line-up would be reuniting for a reunion tour set to take place in October 2023. Sadly in April it was announced that Paul had died, at present the band have not released a statement about their tour.

Atomic Kitten

Girl band Atomic Kitten were a regular feature in the charts in the 90s and 00s, with hits like 'Whole Again' and 'The Tide Is High'. The line-up changed over the years, but has included Liz McClarnon, Natasha Hamilton, Jenny Frost, Kerry Katona and Heidi Range. Kerry made headlines in 2002 when she announced that she would be leaving the band to focus on marriage and family. They officially split in 2004, but came back on stage for a reunion in 2014. In 2020, band members Natasha and Liz delighted England football fans during the World Cup with their rendition of 'Whole Again', changing the lyrics in praise of manager Gareth Southgate. The lyrics were changed to: "Looking back on when we first met / I cannot escape and I cannot forget / Southgate, you're the one / You still turn me on / Football's coming home again". They released the song as a single and even performed it at Boxpark in London to fans.

Original Sugababes members Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Doherty formed in the 90s and the group continued releasing hits throughout the 00s, until each of the original woman had left the band and was replaced by someone else. Keisha, Mutya and Siobhan reunited to form a band called MKS but sadly it never took off, and they have focused on their solo careers since. But all these years later they took to Instagram to announce they were getting back together! The group announced that they are reuniting for the first time in 21 years to play at Glastonbury festival 2022.

Cheeky Girls

The Cheeky Girls were big in the early 00s with songs like 'The Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)', 'Hooray! Hooray! It's a Cheeky Holiday' and 'Take Your Shoes Off', but it all went quiet after 2007 and they stopped making music together. To everyone's surprise the twins announced in April 2022 that they were back with a brand new single called 'Let's Have Fun'!

Blue became household names back in the early 00s with hits like 'All Rise', 'One Love' and 'Fly By' - however the band, consisting of Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe, left fans gutted when they announced a hiatus in late 2004. However, in May 2022, fans were buzzing when they boys announced they were getting back together. With comeback track 'Haven't Found You Yet', featuring on their new album 'Heart & Soul', Blue also went on tour in 2022!

NSYNC were best-known for their huge hits, 'I Want You Back', 'Bye Bye Bye' and 'Girlfriend' with Nelly, the group officially split in 2007, however they have reformed occasionally for special events. In September 2023 they released their first new music in more than 20 years. The song was called 'Better Place' and features on the new Trolls movie, Trolls Band Together.

What are the band's favourite S Club songs?

During their reunion press conference, S Club revealed some of their favourite songs. Hannah revealed she loved 'Don't Stop Moving', but to perform her favourite would be 'Reach'.

'Reach' was also Tina's favourite, whereas Jo chose 'Bring It all Back' and Rachel said 'Never Had Dream Come True' was her favourite.

What songs have S Club released?

'Bring It All Back' was just the start of many very popular songs from the group, including 'S Club Party', 'Two in a Million', 'You're My Number One', 'Reach', and four Number 1s including their debut 'Bring It All Back', 'Never Had a Dream Come True', 'Don't Stop Movin'' and 'Have You Ever'.

When were S Club created?

Featuring the original line-up of Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O'Meara, Jon Lee, Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett and the late Paul Cattermole, S Club 7 was formed by the Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller back in 1998.

The band first appeared on the BBC TV Show Miami 7, where they performed music which was featured on their first album 'S Club', released in 1999.

S club 7 reunited tour setlist 2023: what songs can we expect.

While we obviously don’t know details of the group’s upcoming tour setlist, we’re certain you can expect all the hits (and a few surprises). Let’s remind ourselves of S Club’s Bring It All Back 2015 tour setlist:

Bring The House Down

Will S Club 7 release new music in 2023?

Asked if we can expect some new S Club tunes on the BRITs red carpet, Jo said: "Wait till Monday!"

Then, at the group's press conference hosted by BBC Radio 2's Scott Mills, Jon said: "It's something we have spoken about and something we'd all definitely be up for, but at the moment we're just seeing how the tour goes."

Will S Club Juniors be going on tour with S Club 7 as support act?

Eagle-eyed fans have spotted that the official S Club 7 Instagram account follows only Simon Fuller’s XIX Entertainment, the band members and S Club Juniors ’ Frankie Bridge, Rochelle Humes, Aaron Renfree, Calvin Goldspink, Jay Perry, Hannah Richings, Stacey Franks and Daisy Shelvey.

Why’s that, then?

Speaking to us on the BRITs red carpet, the group said: “We’re all S Clubbers, aren’t we? You’ve got to have the S!”

Interesting...

At the group's press conference, Jo addressed speculation saying: "We're [keeping it] open. It'd be lovely to get somebody who's not done it before; somebody new and fresh. It'd be nice to open up a career to somebody else, but you never know."

When did S Club 7 last reunite?

In November 2014, the group reformed to announce a twelve-date 2015 UK arena. The band also reissued their Best: The Greatest Hits of S Club 7 collection with a previously-unreleased fan favourite track, Rain.

S Club on stage at the AO Arena in Manchester.

S Club review – poignant posthumous tour is comfortingly nostalgic

AO Arena, Manchester Shadows from the recent death of Paul Cattermole are acknowledged but do not hamper the bright, bouncy fun

P op music rarely makes us think about mortality. But it’s something that hangs heavily over S Club tonight, the teenage pop group who came to prominence as S Club 7 on the 90s kids TV show Miami 7, who now return after the sudden death of member Paul Cattermole at 46 earlier this year.

With Hannah Spearritt leaving the group, S Club come back as five, stepping out in glittery bright outfits with each member in blue, red, yellow, pink and green – almost recalling the Power Rangers. Which feels apt, because this is very much a plunge back in time to the era of Saturday morning kids TV as pop phenomenon.

The opening S Club Party reminds us there’s no party like an S Club party but it’s one that’s feeling a little dated and tired. The choreographed dance moves are very old school and there’s lots of gesturing, waving and blowing kisses to the audience, while it becomes clear the backing track they all sing on top of is going to be doing a hell of a lot of heavy lifting.

Reach for the stars … Rachel Stevens, Jo O'Meara, and Tina Barrett.

There are plenty of moments of bright, bubbly, bouncy fun; be it the 60s girl group swing of You’re My Number One, the funk-pop of Bring the House Down, or the disco-indebted Don’t Stop Movin’ – which acts as a potent reminder of its once inescapable ubiquity.

An extensive video tribute to Cattermole marks the halfway point as S Club return dressed in black. “We miss you every single day,” says Bradley McIntosh, holding back tears, before they “bring it back for Paul” via the school disco anthem Bring It All Back.

Production-wise, this isn’t a blockbuster pop show. There’s a staircase the band walk up and down a bit, a sliding door they enter in and out of, and some fairly basic visuals and lights. It’s not explosive, dynamic or unpredictable but familiar, safe, and reliable. But perhaps this is intentional. Existing to soothe and comfort, and to reinstate a feeling of vigour, hope and optimism after a period, for fans and members, of turbulence and loss.

Nineties pop stars S Club 7 are reuniting for a 25th anniversary tour, the group announced on social media today (Feb. 13).

Said the group in announcing its return: “After eight years it feels amazing to announce that we’re reuniting and performing together again. We’re so excited to bring the S Club Party back to our fans across the country to celebrate 25 years of S Club 7. We can’t even believe it’s been so long! S Club Opens Reunion Tour With Paul Cattermole Tribute: ‘You’ll Never Be Forgotten’

  • By Larisha Paul

The opening show of S Club ‘s long-awaited 25th-anniversary reunion tour was as much a celebration of their time together as it was a celebration of Paul Cattermole, the longtime member of the British pop group who died earlier this year from an underlying heart condition at the age of 46.

Kicking off the tour in Manchester at AO Arena, the group — now a five-piece following the death of Cattermole in April and the departure of singer Hannah Spearrit — reunited for the first time in eight years. On stage, they took stock of how much has changed in just the last six months.

“That’s our brother right there, man,” Bradley McIntosh said at the show, glancing up at the emotion-stirring montage of images highlighting Cattermole throughout his life. “Gone, but you’ll never be forgotten. We miss you every single day.”

McIntosh performed throughout the night alongside his group mates Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Jo O’Meara, and Rachel Stevens. The montage played during their performance of “Good Times” and featured footage of Cattermole singing the deep cut from 2001’s Sunshine .

In her tribute to Cattermole, O’Meara added: “Thank you so much [for] all the messages and love and support you’ve all shown all of us and to Paul’s family. We are so grateful for every single one of you.” Before playing their debut single “Bring It All Back,” Barrett thanked the crowd, saying: “Thank you so much Manchester. Tonight is a celebration so let’s bring it all back for Paul.”

For Stevens, it was all a display of how far they’ve come and all that they have built over the past 25 years. “Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support, all the incredible messages you’ve sent through this time, and all your support always,” she said. “We love you so much.”

It's a dream come true for S Club 7 fans — they're reuniting for a tour!

S Club 7

One of the hottest bands of the early 2000s is reuniting to prove that "there ain’t no party like an S Club party."

S Club 7, a British pop band that rose to fame with hits like “Bring It All Back,” “Never Had a Dream Come True” and “S Club Party,” just announced that they're hitting the road next fall for a much-anticipated reunion tour.

Twenty-five years after the band first formed, they stopped by the BBC's "The One Show" on Feb. 13 to share the exciting news.

"We are very excited to say that we are going back out on tour in October," band member Rachel Stevens said. "We’re just so excited to get back out there and sing our hearts out and perform. We're celebrating 25 years, which is just crazy."

When asked what fans can expect from the tour, band member Bradley McIntosh teased a few details.

"Obviously, we’re bringing the nostalgia. Obviously we're bringing the late '90s, early (2000s), so it's a lot of fun. It's very positive, our music, very positive," he said. "And I think in today's times you need a bit of positive, you need a bit of picking up so that's what we're here to do."

The news is likely a dream come true for S Club 7 fans, but there's one caveat: the tour only has European dates. The band will perform 11 shows across the continent, stopping in cities like Liverpool, Dublin, Glasgow, London and Birmingham.

Fans can sign up for the presale on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. GMT and tickets open up to the general public on Friday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. GMT.

In addition to Stevens and McIntosh, the other five members of S Club 7 — Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Jon Lee, Jo O’Meara and Hannah Spearritt — are also on board for the reunion.

Fans of the band are naturally psyched for the news and flooded the comments section of the Instagram announcement.

"My 10 year old self is SCREAMING!!!!!" one wrote. Another commented, "Omg!!! My heart!!!! I listen to y’all every day in NYC ♥️♥️♥️ I gotta get out there!!"

Still, they were a bit disappointed to hear that the band doesn't have any North American dates on their tour.

"U.S. American fans crying ourselves to sleep tonight," one said. Another chimed in, writing, "I hope y’all come to America! I got so excited when the news was announced."

S Club 7 initially teased the announcement over the weekend with their very first Instagram post, and many fans were hopeful that they were going back on tour or releasing new music.

"I’m screaming. I’ve been waiting 20 years for this. S Club is about to take over the world of Pop," one wrote.

Per the BBC , this tour marks the first time the band will hit the road together since 2015.

As avid fans will recall, S Club 7 had their own BBC TV series ("Miami 7") and several hit albums. The band went their separate ways in 2003, according to the BBC , but reunited for a charity performance in 2014. In 2015, they released new music and went on tour once again.

The beloved British pop group S Club performed their final US show on Tuesday at The Orpheum theater in Los Angeles, wrapping up their 25th Anniversary tour -- The Good Times Tour -- to a sold-out crowd.

Band members Jon Lee, Tina Barrett, Jo O'Meara, Bradley McIntosh and Rachel Stevens spoke with ET's Denny Directo ahead of Tuesday's show, and reflected on their anniversary tour -- as well as the loss of their bandmate, Paul Cattermole , who died of heart failure in April 2023 at age 46.

"It's been nostalgic going back, especially to L.A. actually, because obviously we filmed all our TV shows here and spent so much time here," Stevens shared. "So it's felt so familiar. But yeah, being back here and performing in the States has been such an amazing experience."

The band -- formerly known as S Club 7 -- first announced their anniversary tour last year, but revealed they'd changed the name of the tour after Cattermole's death.

They'd been planning to tour for some time, and McIntosh explained, "Paul was so so excited to do the tour and I think he would be really really angry with us if would have stopped it. I really do."

"He would have loved it so much," Lee added.

"But I know it was never a question to not do it. I think it just turned into something different," Stevens shared. "Like, we renamed the tour The Good Times Tour in tribute to him, 'cause that was [what] he was going to, acoustically, in the show. And it just became a real beautiful tribute and celebration for him, and for the fans too."

According to Barrett, the group has "kept in touch with his family, and they came to one of the shows. They just really thought it was beautifully done, and respectful."

"I think Paul would want to be remembered as just being crazy and goofy and fun, you know?" O'Meara chimed in. "Because he was just such a bundle of energy. And I think we've all realized that you notice it, more than ever, that energy is missing."

McIntosh revealed that the group "got a tattoo the other day on Venice beach" which read "Good Times" in honor of Cattermole. The performer explained that the design included "a little heart for Paul."

The bandmates carried on after losing Cattermole, however, and performed a number of shows, bringing their celebrated energy and good vibes to fans across the globe -- albeit without former band member Hannah Spearritt.

"I think that the main thing is just the positivity of the songs and the music. And I think people just seem to love that whole positive thing that we put out," O'Meara said of the group's fanbase. "Because, you know, there's so much negativity in the world. So I think it's just a nice way for people just to escape back to, you know, more innocent times maybe."

Real reason for sudden S Club tour cancellation as singer Jon shares update from bed

S Club fans were heartbroken after the much-loved band announced they were cancelling their reunion tour after only one night, saying it 'simply cannot proceed'

S Club singer Jon Lee has revealed the real reason the band pulled the plug on their hotly-anticipated reunion tour after only one night.

Fans eager to see the Don't Stop Moving stars in action in Liverpool on Friday night were left furious when the show was cancelled just hours before the group were set to hit the stage. In a statement it was claimed the Good Times show had been pulled at the last minute due to an "due to an unforeseen technical issue".

The newly reunited band's first gig went down a storm in Manchester on Thursday as the group - which now consists of Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett, Jo O'Meara, Jon Lee and Bradley McIntosh - belted out their most -loved hits. The fivesome also paused the show to pay tribute to band member Paul Cattermole, who died in April this year.

Social media had been awash with fans saying how much they'd missed the 90s gang and their excitement at the comeback, making the last minute axe for their second gig even more baffling.

Now singer Jon, 41, has set the record straight on why they were forced to pull out of their performance as he set the record straight while lying in bed.

Explaining the short notice, he said: "We're so sorry our Liverpool date has been cancelled tonight.

"There was a fire in the building, which knocked out some of the electrics, which meant it was completely unsafe for us to allow an audience into the arena. It was not our decision, we were fighting to perform."

Thankfully, Jon, Bradley, Rachel, Jo O'Meara and Tina are expected to grace to the stage in Merseyside on Monday 30 October. Taking to Instagram explaining all tickets to Friday's show are still valid, S Club's Instagram account announced: "Happily the band are able to reschedule the show to Monday 30th October 2023 and all tickets remain valid. If you are unable to make the new date refunds are available from the point of purchase but we all hope you can make the rescheduled date."

Despite the fire being beyond the band's control, many fans were disappointed to have missed the Never Had A Dream Come True stars, with several blaming Friday 13th for the cancellation. One said: "Should have known from the start when the gig was booked for Friday the 13th. While another echoed: "Friday the 13th is real. Now S club 7 has been cancelled for the show tonight."

S Club fans were in tears when the reunion show kicked off in Manchester on Thursday after the band paid a moving tribute to late band member, Paul Cattermole, who tragically died in April. As a montage of the singer played on the screen behind them, Jo, Tina, Rachel, Bradley and Jon danced in unison as they remembered their dear friend.

With his voice breaking, Bradley said: "That's our brother right there, man. Gone but you'll never be forgotten. We miss you every single day. You know what we've been through this last year. It's been so tragic, it's been so sad." Meanwhile, Jon said: “Thank you so much, it's very special for us this evening obviously, we dedicate this performance to Paul."

The S Club reunion tour isn’t joyful or nostalgic – it’s bleak

Following the death of paul cattermole and the departure of hannah spearritt, it will be difficult for s club to maintain their bubblegum atmosphere.

They say there ain’t no party like an S Club party – but that may mean something very different now from what it did 20 years ago.

The group will commence a sold-out UK and Ireland tour tomorrow in Manchester, with thousands of fans flocking to hear classics like “Reach” and “Don’t Stop Movin’”. But the band formerly known as S Club 7 is shrouded in sadness. They dropped the “7” this year following the sudden death of one of their members, Paul Cattermole , and subsequent departure from the band of Cattermole’s former girlfriend Hannah Spearritt. Now, their identity as a group – and ingenuity of their reunion – feels unstable.

There is a huge range of possibilities for the vibe of a band reunion. For some, it means genuine reignited success: look at the Sugababes , whose original 1998 lineup reformed in 2019 under the band name, and who have become a bona fide 2020s cultural sensation, finding arguably more credibility now than they did at the time. For some, like the tween pop-punk outfit Busted, who (following a “comeback” tour in 2016) have just finished a 20 th anniversary tour, it means genuinely fond memories, nostalgia and silliness. For others, it’s a last hurrah – Genesis, for example, toured last year after a 13-year hiatus under the show name “The Last Domino?”.

The reunion of Steps, S Club’s contemporaries and rivals, has been underpinned by a healthy dose of camp and a strong sense of humour. The group announced in 2020 they would be reforming, with a tour the following year – and their return was complete with over-the-top costumes, guest appearances from the Drag Race judge Michelle Visage and overall a feeling of not taking themselves too seriously.

For S Club, though, there is a sense of cynicism surrounding the reunion. No matter how much they smile their well-practised smiles, it’s difficult to avoid the feeling that this is a band that has simply run out of money, or relevance, or purpose. Of course, this is the case for many bands of their ilk: the 90s and early 00s was a time when bubblegum pop groups were put together indiscriminately, and it’s a genre for which – unlike the funky R&B of the Sugababes – there’s no longer a viable market beyond pure nostalgia. “These Are the Days”, the single S Club released in July in honour of Cattermole, is proof of this: with a video based around snippets of their 90s heyday and nostalgia-heavy lyrics (“We’ll be running back these memories/To relive time after time”).

The death of Cattermole in April is, of course, what has cast the darkest shadow over proceedings. He was 46 when he was found dead in his home of natural causes; the past few years had been difficult for him. In 2018 he declared bankruptcy and tried to auction his Brit awards – for Best Breakthrough Act and Best British Single – on eBay (the former ended at £66,100, but the buyer never paid). He appeared on Loose Women later that year, where he was quizzed about the fact that ITV had paid for the shirt he wore on the programme.

Cattermole’s difficulties went a long way in showing the realistic plight of the washed-up pop star – and while his fellow S Club members may not have ended up in such extreme situations, none of them exactly ended up being Robbie Williams. Interviewed on This Morning in July this year, none of them managed to say a single non-platitudinous word as they spoke about getting back together. It would take a very open heart and a large spoonful of gullibility to interpret the reunion as anything other than pure necessity.

Why singer Gabrielle always covers one eye

Why singer Gabrielle always covers one eye

They also dodged questions about former member Spearritt, whose departure from the group was somewhat mysterious. She has now said that her decision not to take part in the tour is health-related – but when, shortly after Cattermole’s death, S Club confirmed on social media that they would be dropping the “7” from their name and touring as a fivesome, Spearritt claimed that that was the first she’d heard of it. Rumours abounded that the group were not on speaking terms – and Spearritt has now been announced as a contestant in this year’s Dancing on Ice .

All of this only adds to the slight cringiness and bleakness surrounding S Club’s return. A band in their late 40s reportedly fighting like children in the playground, even when one of them has died? Smiles through gritted teeth as they pretend to care about the new music, and warm up their vocal cords to belt out the old classics to an audience of ageing millennials? Insistence that it’s all gravy, when it’s no longer a secret that pop stars in that era tended to be treated terribly by labels and management as the industry exploited people for overnight hits, and Cattermole had called out the management of S Club 7 specifically not very long ago?

It doesn’t bode well for a tour on which not one solemn chord is to be played. The incongruity between the S Club image and the S Club reality is becoming increasingly stark – and, once it’s over at the end of this month, we and they will simply be left wondering – again – what on earth they’re going to do now.

Pop band S Club 7 have rebranded as S Club for their upcoming tour, due to the death of one member and the absence of another.

Founding member Paul Cattermole was found dead at his home in Dorset last month aged 46 , and Hannah Spearritt has pulled out of the band's 25th anniversary tour, meaning the group is now a five-piece.

On the band's Instagram, member Jon Lee said: "You've probably noticed that there are only five of us here today and, although Hannah will always be part of S Club 7, she won't be joining us on this tour.

"We wish her all the best for the future."

The number seven has also been removed from the band's social media and website.

In their Instagram video, the band members also spoke about the death of Cattermole, with Lee saying: "We have been in a bit of shock, and it has taken a while for us to find the right words to describe how we feel about losing our brother Paul."

Rachel Stevens added: "Just taking the time to process and get our heads around it all, and also taking time to share time together so that we could remember Paul and all the memories we had together."

Spearritt and Cattermole were in a relationship during their time in S Club 7 and later rekindled their romance for a brief period in 2015.

The actress and singer has since called Cattermole her "first true love," and said he was "so excited" about the band's forthcoming tour.

The band had been due to reunite in October for a 25th anniversary tour of the UK and Ireland.

Following Cattermole's death, S Club 7 encouraged fans to donate to the National Youth Music Theatre "in lieu of flowers".

Police have confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Cattermole's death.

S Club 7 rename band after Paul Cattermole’s death

British pop band S Club 7 have undergone a rebrand as S Club for their upcoming tour, after losing two members.

Paul Cattermole , an original member from when the band formed in 1998, was found at his home in Dorset on 6 April – he was pronounced dead later that afternoon aged 46. Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstance surrounding the death, the cause of which has not been disclosed.

This week, it was announced that Hannah Spearritt , 42, was pulling out of the group’s 25th anniversary tour.

This leaves the band as a five-piece, consisting of Jo O’Meara, 44, Jon Lee, 41, Rachel Stevens, 45, Tina Barrett, 46, and Bradley McIntosh, 41.

The number seven has been removed from the group’s social media and website.

In an emotional video posted on the group’s Instagram, Lee said: “We have been in a bit of shock, and it has taken a while for us to find the right words to describe how we feel about losing our brother Paul.”

Stevens added: “Just taking the time to process and get our heads around it all, and also taking time to share time together so that we could remember Paul and all the memories we had together.”

Barrett said: “It is just really sad, it is really, really hard to process it right now.”

McIntosh, meanwhile, told fans that the band members are “all still in so much disbelief”.

He said that Cattermole was a “big brother to us, all of us and you guys out there”, adding: “He truly was a unique specimen of human being.

“No one could replace our Paul, he lives on inside in each and every one of us.”

O’Meara said: “Whenever Paul would walk into the room, you definitely knew that he was there because he would just light it up with humour and love – just a really special person.”

Barrett broke down into tears as he explained that the tour has been renamed the Good Times tour in memory of Cattermole.

He said: “That was his song and all the fans knew it was his song, so it just feels right.”

Of Spearritt – who was in a relationship with Cattermole in the 2000s and briefly in 2015 – he said: “You’ve probably noticed that there’s only five of us here today, and although Hannah will always be part of S Club 7 she won’t be joining us on this tour.

“We wish her all the best for the future.”

The current five band members are still planning to reunite in October for a 25th anniversary tour of the UK and Ireland.

In 1999, S Club 7 reached No 1 with their debut single “Bring It All Back”. Other hits in later years included “S Club Party” and “Don’t Stop Movin’”.

When S Club 7 disbanded in 2003, the group had recorded four studio albums and sold more than 10 million records worldwide.

Here Are All 16 LIV Golfers in the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club

John schwarb | may 13, 2024.

Brooks Koepka, Cameron Smith, Talor Gooch and Jon Rahm are all players to watch this week at the PGA.

Golf’s second major of 2024 is here, and fans can rejoice in how PGA Tour-LIV Golf squabbles are put aside with players from both sides settling matters on the course.

And the PGA of America has helped LIV Golf bring a sizable contingent to Valhalla Golf Club.

A bit more than 10% of the field—16 of 156 players—is from the Saudi-backed league, up from nine players a year ago at the PGA won by LIV’s Brooks Koepka. Koepka and eight other players were exempt into the field based on various criteria, and seven accepted special invitations. The PGA of America has significant leeway to invite whoever it wants , and it saw fit to invite perhaps a larger number of LIV players than many expected.

Thirteen players from LIV Golf were in the field at last month’s Masters.

Here are all 16 in order of Official World Golf Ranking, with how they qualified, recent history and outlook.

OWGR: 5th How qualified: Won 2023 Masters Recent history: Second in 2024 LIV points standings, T45 at Masters Skinny: LIV’s seismic offseason signing hasn’t won yet but hasn’t played poorly either with four top-5 finishes and just one outside the top 10. Had a disappointing Masters defense but will have less pressure this week.

Tyrrell Hatton

OWGR: 18th How qualified: T15 in 2023 PGA Championship Recent history: T5 LIV Golf Singapore, T9 at Masters Skinny: Fiery Englishman comes in off his best LIV finish. On a streak of nine consecutive made cuts in majors with five top-20 finishes.

Brooks Koepka

OWGR: 39th How qualified: Won 2018, 2019, 2023 PGA Championship Recent history: Won LIV Golf Singapore, T45 at Masters Skinny: The defending champion has his swagger back after winning two weeks ago and lives for majors . A third PGA would put him in rarefied air; only Tiger Woods has won as many in the last four decades.

Cameron Smith

OWGR: 61st How qualified: Won 2022 British Open Recent history: Second at LIV Golf Singapore, T6 at Masters Skinny: Indifferent LIV season got a boost in Singapore, the short-game ace has four top-9 finishes in last six majors starting with the 2022 win at St. Andrews.

Adrian Meronk

OWGR: 65th How qualified: Special exemption Recent history: T13 LIV Golf Singapore, missed cut at the Masters Skinny: The PGA traditionally invites all players inside the top 100 in the world, and Meronk remains there after three DP World Tour wins in the 2023 season. Was T40 in first PGA appearance last year.

Lucas Herbert

OWGR: 90th How qualified: Special exemption Recent history: T29 LIV Golf Singapore Skinny: The Aussie did not qualify for the Masters and only has one top-15 finish all year on LIV. Was T13 at the 2022 PGA.

Joaquin Niemann

OWGR: 91st How qualified: Special exemption Recent history: T8 LIV Golf Singapore, two-time winner earlier in year, T22 Masters Skinny: The Chilean got a special invite from the Masters for globetrotting that included an Australian Open win and played well off it. Now will make 14th consecutive major start, a streak that could be harder to maintain if he falls outside the top 100 in the world.

Patrick Reed

OWGR: 93rd How qualified: Special exemption Recent history: T15 LIV Golf Singapore, T12 Masters Skinny: The 2018 Masters champ remains inside the top 100 after a decent Masters but his LIV season hasn’t been notable as he’s 30th in season points.

OWGR: 109th How qualified: Special exemption Recent history: T27 LIV Golf Singapore Skinny: The 22-year-old Spaniard won twice in the offseason on the Asian Tour, which is looked favorably upon. His only other major start is a T39 in the 2023 U.S. Open.

Bryson DeChambeau

OWGR: 124th How qualified: Won 2020 U.S. Open Recent history: T28 LIV Golf Singapore, T6 Masters Skinny: Had a three-event stretch of top-7 finishes in LIV before a pair of T28 efforts, led after 36 holes at Augusta before fading on weekend. T4 at last year’s PGA.

Dean Burmester

OWGR: 133rd How qualified: Special exemption Recent history: T17 LIV Golf Singapore, won LIV Golf Miami Skinny: The Zimbabwean is third in LIV points and won back-to-back late last year on the DP World Tour, perhaps all of that factored into being allowed to make his fourth straight PGA Championship start.

Phil Mickelson

OWGR: 160th How qualified: Won 2005, 2021 PGA Championship Recent history: T22 LIV Golf Singapore, T43 Masters Skinny: The 53-year-old hasn’t shown much form this season, 34th in LIV points with one top-10 finish.

Andy Ogletree

OWGR: 220th How qualified: Top 3, International Federation OWGR list Recent history: T45 LIV Golf Singapore Skinny: The 26-year-old Georgia Tech grad had his best LIV Golf finish two events ago, a T5 in Adelaide, and now makes his first major start since 2020.

Dustin Johnson

OWGR: 392nd How qualified: Won 2020 Masters Recent history: T7 LIV Golf Singapore, missed cut at the Masters Skinny: The 2022 LIV Golf season champion won his third career LIV event in February in Las Vegas then didn’t have another top-10 until two weeks ago at Singapore. Has five top-10s in the PGA, the last being T2 in 2020.

Talor Gooch

OWGR: 668th How qualified: Special exemption Recent history: T4 LIV Golf Singapore Skinny: The most polarizing LIV golfer in the field said in February that a potential Rory McIlroy Grand Slam would have an asterisk for not being against all the game’s best. This could be Gooch’s only major start of the year as he wasn’t invited to the Masters and said he won’t qualify for the Opens.

Martin Kaymer

OWGR: 4,338th How qualified: Won 2010 PGA Championship Recent history: T20 LIV Golf Singapore Skinny: The 39-year-old German is set at the PGA thanks to his win at Whistling Straits but his last made cut was 2018. He’s 42nd in LIV points with a best finish of T14.

For Rory McIlroy, it's been a decade of glory and anguish

Pga championship returns to valhalla, where he last won a major in 2014.

Change Text Size

Rory McIlroy won four majors in four years – 2011 U.S. Open, 2012 PGA Championship, 2014 Open Championship and PGA Championship. But there’s winning, and then there’s winning.

He won the first two by eight shots apiece, and the second two in a span of three weeks.

“This is Rory’s time,” The Guardian declared. “The dawning of a new era.”

McIlroy now heads into the PGA Championship at Valhalla with two victories in his last two starts – just as he did at the 2014 PGA at Valhalla, which is still his most recent major victory.

“Just need to try to replicate whatever I did in 2014, just try to do that all over again,” he said after going 8-under in a span of eight holes (Nos. 8-15) to pull away at Quail Hollow on Sunday. “Yeah, I'm feeling really good with my game.

Rory McIlroy charges to victory at Wells Fargo

“I need to stay in my own little world next week and not get too far ahead of myself,” he added, “but if you can step on to the first tee at Valhalla on Thursday and feel as good about my game as I did today, I think I'll have a good chance.”

McIlroy has 20 major championship top 10s over the last decade (the most in golf, by three) but no wins. Where has he gone wrong? As he prepares for this week’s PGA Championship, the punditry will turn up the volume on that question, comparing him to his 2014 self.

Back then, his 281-yard 3-wood to 7 feet and subsequent eagle at the 10th hole sparked a furious comeback. (He later said he started his second shot 15 yards left of his intended line and got lucky.) With a two-stroke lead and in fading light, McIlroy gave no high-fives on the way to the 18th tee, where he watched Rickie Fowler and Phil Mickelson in the group ahead tee off, then arranged for them to move off to the side once they were several paces down the fairway to allow McIlroy and Bernd Wiesberger to drive. As Nick Faldo noted on CBS, McIlroy was playing into the group ahead while also playing through the world of golf.

It was McIlroy’s third win in as many starts – and his second straight major. (He had won The Open Championship three weeks earlier.) All of a sudden, he had joined Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only players to win four majors before turning 26. Steeped in the game’s history, McIlroy marveled at that, as well as being tied with Ernie Els and Raymond Floyd at four majors, one behind Seve Ballesteros and two behind Europe’s all-time leader, Faldo.

Confoundingly, that’s where McIlroy remains.

Rory McIlroy comments after winning the PGA Championship

Looking for his edge

Rory McIlroy is too nice to win majors.

If there’s a through line to the criticism of this generational talent, that would be it.

Aggression, killer instinct, edge – McIlroy hasn’t always loved these terms. Asked last summer about his “ruthlessness” at Valhalla in 2014, he replied: “I find being that way pretty exhausting in life in general, to be that ruthless and that – it's not as if I can't get into that mode, but I don't feel like I need to be that way to be successful on the golf course.”

And yet, by the time he sat down with PGATOUR.COM at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard earlier this season, McIlroy was rethinking that.

“Especially Valhalla, there was like a killer instinct there,” he said, “that I've maybe, you know, if I've been lacking … that I've been trying to tap into over the past couple of years.”

He seemed to be tapping it when asked last week about the pileup at the last at the 2014 PGA.

“Yeah, I'd say I'm a pretty, you know, non-confrontational person,” McIlroy said at the Wells Fargo last week. “I'm not a huge fan of conflict, but when push comes to shove, I will (engage). That was one of those times when I needed to sort of assert my will on a situation.”

Whether he was pushy or assertive, he was golf’s new IT player, and his scoring average in the majors from 2007 through 2014, 71.25, was second only to Woods (71.21).

The story of McIlroy in the majors since then, however, has been cover-your-eyes stuff. He has tried playing less, playing more, stoicism, long hair, short hair, being on the PGA TOUR Policy Board, and not being on it. He has watched himself winning majors and visualized his name atop leaderboards, as at the 2022 Open Championship.

“I'm only human,” he said after finishing third at that ’22 Open at St. Andrews, where he became the only player to hold the 54-hole lead at a major, hit every green in regulation in the final round, and not win. “I'm not a robot. Of course, you think about it, and you envision it, and you want to envision it.”

Rory McIlroy's clutch up-and-down from bunker at The Open

McIlroy has tried minimizing the stakes, reminding that it’s just golf. Conversely, he has allowed himself to vent, as he did after finishing T7 at last year’s PGA. There, in the locker room at Oak Hill, he said he lacked the firepower to pull away from fields and was considering an overhaul, all of it captured in the Netflix docuseries “Full Swing.” When Brooks Koepka won, a frustrated McIlroy no longer had the most majors among his peers.

Meanwhile, he has won everything else but a major. The only three-time FedExCup champion, he’s a 26-time TOUR winner, a five-time Race to Dubai winner (DP World Tour No. 1) and a 17-time winner on the DP World Tour. He has won THE PLAYERS Championship, the Ryder Cup and been world No. 1. (He’s now No. 2, well back of Scottie Scheffler.)

Last month, McIlroy returned to a simpler and more joyful time as he and Shane Lowry played the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, where they ate grilled oysters on the course, sampled the NOLA restaurant scene, won the tournament, wore beads, drank beer and sang karaoke.

“I think it freed me up a little bit,” McIlroy said before the Wells Fargo began.

He proved as much in Charlotte, North Carolina, especially with his 65 on Sunday. It was the best round of the day, even with the double at the last, and he won for a record fourth time at Quail Hollow. If he lacks any firepower, you could have fooled the runner-up.

“I mean, he played unbelievable,” Schauffele said of McIlroy. “Looked up at the board and I'm like dang, he's 6 under through six on the back nine.”

Small margins

McIlroy took just 25 putts in the final round at the Wells Fargo, so it would be easy to forget the role putting has played throughout his major drought.

In his toughest losses, McIlroy has struggled on the greens. At the 2022 Open Championship at St. Andrews, where he visualized his name atop the big, yellow leaderboard across from his hotel room, he took a staggering 36 putts in the final round, shot 70, and went from first to third.

“I hit a good putt on 13, 14, 15, 16, 17,” McIlroy said. “I was hitting good putts.”

(A contrarian might argue that a good putt is one that goes in.)

History repeated itself at last summer’s U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club, where McIlroy took 34 putts, shot a final-round 70, and finished second to Wyndham Clark by one. As he walked off the course, McIlroy called it a carbon copy of the ’22 Open.

“When I do finally win this next major, it's going to be really, really sweet,” he said. “I would go through 100 Sundays like this to get my hands on another major championship.”

Statistically, his average putts per round show improvement in three of the four majors over his last 35 starts (since 2015) compared to his first 25 starts. But he has not putted well at the right time . In his major championship career, McIlroy has recorded 34 or more putts in four final rounds – once during his first 25 starts through 2014, and three times since September of 2020.

Rory McIlroy drains 33-footer for eagle to take the lead at Wells Fargo

His short irons and wedges have come under heavier scrutiny, and his ghastliest miss at L.A.C.C. came with a wedge from the middle of the fairway at the 612-yard, par-5 14th hole, where he dumped his third shot into the rough short of the green.

Although he got embedded-ball relief, McIlroy couldn’t get up and down, missing a 9-foot par putt. He said he had misjudged the wind, but it was a terrible mistake, and not entirely atypical of him. McIlroy can look befuddled with his short irons, most notably on approaches from 75-100 yards, where he was 163rd on TOUR last season, 95th in 2022, 141st in ’21.

As for his driving, always the strength of his game, since his first 25 starts in the majors he has averaged one fewer fairway hit per round in the majors from 2015 to today. Does it matter? When trying to shave what amounts to a half a stroke per round, everything matters.

What’s more, McIlroy averaged 70.2 in his opening rounds over his first 25 major championship starts (through 2014) but has dipped to 71.5 over his last 35 starts, more than a stroke off his previous pace. Again, everything matters; it’s hard to win majors from behind.

Barely 35, McIlroy is still young. And dry spells between majors are not unprecedented; Woods broke an 11-year drought at the 2019 Masters. But one of these weeks when everything looks ripe for McIlroy to break the streak – like this week – he’s going to have to break it.

Career-defining moments come infrequently, and he will need to reassert himself when they do. He’ll need to find his killer instinct, play with joy, and inhabit that which he crooned in NOLA – " Don’t Stop Believin’" – if he wants to party like it’s 2014 at Valhalla this Sunday.

“I mean, I've been sort of banging this drum for the last few years, but I'm a way better player now than I was back then,” he said Sunday night. “I haven't had the major record to back that up, but I've had the wins, I've done everything else there is to do in the game since 2014.

“The only thing I need to do,” he added, “is get another major.”

PGA Championship 2024: Jon Rahm still considers himself part of the PGA Tour after leaving for LIV Golf

2151523377

LOUISVILLE — Jon Rahm’s no longer with the PGA Tour after defecting to LIV Golf last December. But that’s not how Rahm sees it.

Speaking to the media Tuesday at Valhalla ahead of this week’s PGA Championship, Rahm was asked about the ongoing drama regarding the PGA Tour’s policy board in wake of Rory McIlroy’s blocked bid to return to tour leadership and Jimmy Dunne’s resignation in the past week, especially now that Rahm’s on the “other side.” The two-time major winner did not take kindly to the phrase.

“See you guys keep saying ‘the other side’ but I'm still a PGA Tour member, whether suspended or not,” Rahm said. “I still want to support the PGA Tour. And I think that's an important distinction to make.

“I don't feel like I'm on the other side. I'm just not playing there. That's at least personally.”

To Rahm’s credit, he has not surrendered his tour membership, which other LIV Golf members—like Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed—have done. In that same breath, Rahm’s name has been erased or scrubbed from several PGA Tour-sanctioned entities, including the tour’s career money earnings list. Following his signing with LIV Golf, Rahm was suspend from all PGA Tour related activities.

Though Rahm has said he is happy with his decision to join the Saudi-backed league, he’s also admitted that leaving the PGA Tour was harder than he thought.

“I’m not going to lie; for everybody who said this would be easy, some things have been, but not being able to defend some titles that mean a lot to me hasn’t,” Rahm said earlier this year. “I love Palm Springs. I’ve been able to win twice there. Riviera is about as charismatic of a golf course as we have. It’s definitely a week that it’s fantastic for a lot of us, and it’s a fan and player favorite. Not being there was difficult. I still watched the broadcast. I still watch golf because I love watching it. But it’s hard.”

The comments after Dunne said there's been a lack of "meaningful" progress with PIF on a deal. On Tuesday, Rahm reiterated that he doesn’t know what’s being discussed behind closed doors at the PGA Tour or LIV Golf, only that he hopes “we reach a resolution and a resolution that's beneficial for everyone.”

Rahm is making his eighth career PGA Championship start this week. He finished T-50 at Oak Hill last spring.
