Every Thursday during our summer season we set sail headed for our favourite day out to either the bustling town of Torquay or the historic fishing community of Brixham.

Leaving Exmouth Marina at 10.30am* we cruise across to the South Devon coastline past exclusive coves and bays only visible from the water. This stretch of shoreline is renowned for its diversity of rocks and formations, some dating back over 150 million years and vividly displaying the dramatic erosion from the sea and the impact of the weather.

Rounding the corner, we sail into Torbay. This popular tourist destination is a borough that includes the towns of Paignton, Torquay and Brixham, all of which sit on the natural harbour that forms the bay. The sandy beaches, warmer weather and local attractions have all given this part of Devon the grand title of the English Riveria!

Our first stop in Torbay is the lively town of Torquay, full of cafes, restaurants, high street shops and big attractions there is always plenty to do! Here you can choose to disembark the boat, where you will have three hours to explore the town, or have a turn on the big wheel.

Alternatively, you can choose to stay on the boat a little longer as we head along into the fishing town of Brixham. Here you will have two hours to experience a more tranquil atmosphere with the harbour market stalls, boutiques, cafes and of course the delicious freshly caught fish on the menu every day. Street performers and musicians entertain the passers-by adding to the relaxed ambiance that radiates through the town.

Wherever you choose to spend your time, you will be given clear departure time from your Captain before you leave the boat – please ensure that you are ready to board in plenty of time for the return journey home!

Sailing on our Pride of Exmouth, we have outdoor seating on our upper deck for you to get lovely lungs full of fresh sea air along with a heated lower deck with huge windows great for viewing all the sites. There is a licensed bar on board serving a range of hot and cold refreshments and snacks, the boat is exceptionally clean and well-maintained and there are toilets on board.

Every cruise has informative and entertaining commentary from your Captain, highlighting not only the sights but also the local nature. We frequently see seals and occasionally we are joined by pods of dolphins who jump and splash alongside boat!

This trip is suitable for passengers with good mobility who can navigate boarding at the harbours in Torquay and Brixham. As this is a sea-going cruise, the sea state can be affected by the weather and the winds. If the weather conditions are unsuitable for a pleasant trip, we reserve the right to cancel. In these circumstances, we will offer to transfer you onto another date or issue you with a refund.

One of our favourite daytrips of the summer season – why not join us and make it one of yours!

*please check the departure times at point of booking as timings may differ due to tides*

Can you spend a half a day at Torquay and half a day at Brixham?

We do not offer the option to split your visit between Torquay or Brixham. As we set sail, we stop at Torquay to drop those wishing to spend the day, then sail onward to Brixham. We then will pick up in reverse order before setting sail back to Exmouth.

Stuart Line Cruises would like to extend a very warm welcome to group organisers, tour operators and couriers. Allow us to share with you some fantastic excursion ideas, which are specially designed for groups of 15 people or more  with suggested itineraries at special discounted rates .

Stuart Line Cruises is an award-winning, family-run business, operating on the River Exe and along the East Coast and South Devon coastlines, from the traditional seaside town of Exmouth, in Devon.

Now running over 50 years, we passionately believe that the River Exe and nearby coastlines of the Jurassic Coast and English Riviera are unrivaled in terms of history, beauty and wildlife and cannot wait to share them with you.

We often catch the ferry to Brixham, for us, it still feels like going on holiday, and it’s a fun way to travel. We sometimes eat fish and chips and go for a pint in one of the numerous inns. We also have lunch at Brixham Yacht Club, which I think has the best views in the town.

The Marina has sailed around Britain and Ireland, carrying passengers on a tour of the countries in a ship laden with luxury

We have more newsletters

A huge cruise ship carrying holidaymakers on a tour of the UK and Ireland has stopped in Torbay before it's final departing journey. The MS Marina has spent the final few weeks of the summer sailing around the British Isles, carrying passengers in style to tourist hotspots from Edinburgh to the English Riviera .

The vessel, operated by Oceania Cruises , initially set off from Southampton on August 29 and is now coming to the end of its 12-day tour of Britain and Ireland. It was photographed this morning (Monday, September 9) off the coast of Torbay , its last destination before heading back to Southampton later this evening.

Built in 2011 for around $500m (£3.82m), the Marina can host 1,238 passengers (double occupancy), with 800 crewmembers . Over her recently renovated 15 decks, the Marina offers bars and lounges, a casino, pool and vitality centre, as well as boutiques and library. Then there is, of course, the live music and performance lounge, featuring shows such as 'Broadway in Concert' and 'Dancin' Fool'.

  • Warning after 17 Devon beaches hit with sewage alerts
  • New Devon apartment block will house 'exciting' new homes

Passengers are housed in full suites - complete with living room and two bathrooms - or staterooms depending on need and budget. Designer touches are everywhere, from the Lalique Grand Staircase to the stunning Owner's Suites furnished with Ralph Lauren Home, highlighting the luxurious surroundings, no matter the accomodation.

On this tour of the Isles, the Marina left Southampton at 9pm on August 29 for Leith, Edinburgh. It then stopped in Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands, Stornoway, Belfast, Greenock in Glasgow and Liverpool. She then sailed across the sea to Ireland, stopping in Dublin before Holyhead in Wales, Cobh in Ireland and finally Torbay, where she was seen today.

Her last stop will be in Southampton, where passengers will depart.

Testimonials

Best boat trip in cyprus.

Wh at an experience.....such a friendly family run business !!! This is the third time we have been on the Yellow Boat Cruise, and we have also been on the Serena Fast Boat Trip which is something not to be missed!!! Andreas the Captain along with Anna, Chris, and Lauren cannot be any more helpful, from when you book the trip until you get off the boat, such a relaxed trip around the bays of Protaras!!! If you visit the Protaras or Pernera area of Cyprus these boat trips are a must!!!!

Written September 2022

My wife and I spent a week in Protaras with family. In July and August the beaches are packed. We found a hidden gem in the yellow boat. absolutely fabulous!!!! Andreas and his daughter who both captain the ship provide a day of laughter information and incredible swimming. We liked so much we did two days in a row. The meal they provide is simple, delicious, and fresh. Even better are the drinks, they are great and an incredible value. Both days we were on the boat with people who were repeat customers from previous years. That pretty much says it all. We cant wait to do it again.

Written August 2022

This boat trip is simply the best!! The crew are so friendly and fun. We have done the lazy day cruise and the sunset cruise this week. Both were absolutely amazing. Prior booking is definitely advisable. Thank you all at the Yellow Boat Cruises for a great experience 🙂

Family Lazy Day Cruise!!!

Our second time on Aretousa - a wonderful cruise!!! Excellent value for money, delicious lunch and drink included - a well stocked bar for further refreshments. The cruise is second to none, taking you around the coast line and very informative. Beautiful stops for swimming and even with the lovely turtles. Andreas, Anna and the whole family are so welcoming, friendly and helpful while on board. We will definitely book again, no other cruise can compare!!!!

History of Kemerovo Oblast

People began to settle in what is now the Kemerovo region several thousand years ago. The indigenous peoples of the region were Shortsy and Teleuts. In 1618, Russians founded Kuznetsky stockaded town in the south of the present region to protect Russian lands from the raids of the Mongols and Jungars. In 1698, Mariinsk was founded.

In 1721, Mikhailo Volkov found “burning mountain” (a burning coal seam) on the banks of the Tom River and thus became the person who discovered the Kuzbass coal deposits. Industrial development of this land started at the end of the 18th century.

During the 19th century, the territory of the Kemerovo region was part of the Tomsk province. During this period, the first industrial enterprises appeared here: Tomsk ironworks, Gavrilovsky and Gurievsky silver plants, Suharinsky and Salairsky mines. Construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway was one of the main reasons for the rapid development of the local industry.

More historical facts…

In Soviet times, the region became part of the West Siberian krai, and then - Novosibirsk oblast. The development of the coal, metallurgical and chemical industries continued: Kemerovo Coke Plant, Kuznetsk Metallurgical Plant, a lot of new mines. The workers’ settlements built near the industrial enterprises quickly obtained the status of towns: Kiselyovsk, Osinniki, Krasnobrodsky, Tashtagol, Kaltan, Mezhdurechensk and others.

During the Second World War, this region was a major supplier of coal and metal. More than 50 thousand tanks and 45 thousand aircraft were produced using steel from Novokuznetsk. 71 industrial enterprises were evacuated to Kuzbass from the occupied regions, most of them remained in the region after the war.

In 1943, Kemerovo Oblast became a separate region that included 17.5% of the territory and 42% of the total population of Novosibirsk Oblast. After the war, the region continued to grow rapidly. On September 18, 1984, about 100 km from Kemerovo, a peaceful underground nuclear explosion was carried out, the power of the explosive device was 10 kilotons.

In the 1990s, the region’s economy declined. However, by the end of the 20th century, there were some positive developments - the development of the coal industry in the first place. Special attention was paid to the development of open-pit coal mining, as a more effective and safe way.

Kemerovo Oblast - Features

Kemerovo Oblast is one of the few Russian regions that has a recognized and well-known alternative name “Kuzbass” - the abbreviation of “Kuznetsk coal basin” occupying a large part of the territory of the region.

It is the most densely populated part of Siberia. The length of the region from north to south is about 500 km, from west to east - 300 km. Russians make up more than 90% of the population. There are small nations of Shortsy, Teleuts, Siberian Tatars who have preserved their cultural traditions.

Kemerovo Oblast plays a significant role in Russian industry. The following mineral resources are mined here: coal, gold, silver, iron ore, manganese ore, aluminum, nepheline ore, lead, zinc, barite, quartz, limestone, clay, dolomite, sand.
