Borderlands 3 Acid Trip Guide – Moxxi’s Heist DLC

Enjoying your time with the new Moxxi's Heist DLC content? Here's our Borderlands 3 Acid Trip if you're wanting to ride that high a little longer with this sidequest that offers up an Epic reward.

So, you’re one of those Vault Hunters who’s spent their time in Borderlands 3 trying to help Mad Moxxi one-up Handsome Jack for all that he’s done. Once the Moxxi’s Heist DLC was revealed , we knew that we’d come rushing right back to the game to take down a whole new range of bosses and to lay hands on a ton of new weapons. The Borderlands 3 Acid Trip mission is a sidequest that only appears as part of the Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot DLC, so if you haven’t got this to plow through then you’re not going to have to worry about it at all. 

If you have been enlisted by the lovely Moxxi to help her take back what’s hers, though, then you might want to perk up. Essentially, you’ll have also had to have completed the Jack’s Wild story mission that’s part of the DLC story content first before this quest becomes available at level 50. 

You’ll pick up the Acid Trip quest from Hitch in the Spendopticon, and your objectives are reasonably straightforward here. You’ll be told that you’re going to have to take out other Loaders in the R&D lab before they dethrone Hitch from being, well, the best murderous robot that anyone’s ever seen in recent memory. The steps you’ll have to take are below:

• Find the R&d lab and clear it out
• Activate the supercomputer powering everything
• Free and destroy two prototype loader bots
• Free Facemelt and kill it – immune to corrosive damage, so keep that in mind

Facemelt is the last prototype in this secret R&D lab that HItch has had you infiltrate, but it isn’t much harder to defeat than the prototypes that came before it. The important thing about killing Facemelt and finishing this optional mission, however, is the fact that you’ll also pick up the Melt Facer Epic shotgun . This weapon is highly effective against Armor, so it’s a worthy get if you don’t have something that fills that spot in your deadly arsenal. Now that you’ve got our Borderlands 3 Acid Trip guide to rely on, finishing this side mission should be a piece of cake. Obtained: Interact with the poster on the wall in Casa de Timothy (accessible during Jack’s Wild main story mission)

Head to Tricksy Nick Slick Ditch then fast travel to Jack’s Secret (have to first unlock Jack’s Secret during the Jack’s Wild main story mission). The lab is in the Awesome Expensive Reactor area.

Defeat all the loaders in the lab.

Interact with the keyboard in the middle of the room.

Activate the two switches near the supercomputer.

Kill the two loaders.

Use the supercomputer to unleash the “Melter of Faces”.

Kill the loader. As Hitch says, the loader is immune to corrosive so use something else.

List of Borderlands 3 known bugs and launch issues

Most of these aren't game-breaking, but they can cause their fair share of frustrations.

Borderlands 3 isn't quite having the launch Gearbox may have hoped for it. Though the reception has mostly been positive so far — you'll need to wait a bit for our final thoughts , but Jez Corden has an early impression — people are discussing a host of problems that have popped up. This is typical for any AAA game the size of Borderlands 3, but it doesn't make the bugs we run in to any less frustrating.

And because Borderlands 3 launched on the Epic Games Store, players are bypassing Epic's abysmal forums and actually troubleshooting and discussing their PC problems over on Steam's forums . Seriously.

Known bugs and launch issues

• Players are reporting that upon joining another player's game who is further than they are, all quests up until that point will complete and all audio will play at once.
• Cloud saves on PC can become corrupted and delete your character. (Fixed)

Performance and graphics

• Frame rate drops have been reported across consoles and PC at various locations, especially when aiming down sights.
• Those using ultrawide monitors may notice parts of the screen cut off during cutscenes.
• Audio can cut out at times.
• If DirectX 12 is enabled on PC, you may not be able to get past the Claptrap loading screen before the game begins.
• Players may need to double click on items in menus for it to register.
• Menus frequently lag and stutter.
• Exiting out of the game or attempting to join a friend's may turn off your console.
• Completing the game on True Vault Hunter mode may delete any weapons saved in your bank on Sanctuary III.

A workaround for DirectX 12 causing users not to load their games has been found:

Set your .ini file back to DX11:

Go to C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My games\Borderlands 3\Saved\Config>\WindowsNoEditor - Open the GameUserSettings.ini in a text editor and change this line: PreferredGraphicsAPI=DX12 to PreferredGraphicsAPI=DX11

• Playable characters may drift slightly to the right even when not touching the thumbstick. Adjusting the sensitivity of the thumbstick in the menus seems to fix this.
• Stat cards for weapons on ground may appear slightly off screen or do not pop up when directly looking at the weapon.
• When FL4K uses Gamma Burst to revive his pet, it will continually double the cooldown of your action skill each time you use it until you exit the game.
• Map will snap to fast travel points when you go to use it.
• Incorrect weapon cards may display in your inventory when hovered over a particular weapon.

Pre-order bonuses

• Some players are not seeing their pre-order bonuses or Deluxe Edition content download automatically. To fix this, try to search for them in the Microsoft tore and download them individually.

This list isn't exhaustive by any means, and there are surely a lot more that will pop up as more players get their hands on Borderlands 3. It's worth noting that some of these can be fixed by simply exiting the game.

Gearbox has not said anything about an upcoming patch, but one is likely in the works to fix at least some of these issues.
