About Megan Thee Stallion

Hailing from Houston, Megan Thee Stallion is a three time GRAMMY winner, philanthropist and ever-evolving cultural icon.  From the release of her critically acclaimed and Gold certified debut album, Good News, to earning two global record breaking Billboard Hot 100 #1 hits with the “Savage Remix” featuring Beyoncé, and “WAP” with Cardi B, Megan has proven unstoppable.  Megan has been recognized for her musical achievements with three GRAMMY wins, including Best New Artist and nine BET Awards.

Megan was also honored as one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2020. In October 2020, following a powerful and politically charged performance on Saturday Night Live that demanded justice for Breonna Taylor, Megan published her monumental “Why I Speak Up For Black Women” op-ed and accompanying visual with The New York Times.

About Caroline Polachek

Two years since taking the music world by storm with  Pang  — her lush and dazzling head-trip of an album — Caroline Polachek has returned with the infectious single “Bunny Is A Rider.” Polachek says of the song: “’Bunny Is A Rider’ is a summer jam about being unavailable. Bunny is slippery, impossible to get ahold of. Maybe it’s a fantasy, maybe it’s a bad attitude. But anyone can be bunny, at least for three minutes and seventeen seconds.”

Her previous album  Pang  topped year-end lists globally — including Dazed, The Guardian, NPR, to name a few. The record’s lush romanticism and acrobatic vocal stylings firmly established her as one of the most singular and captivating singer-songwriters of a generation.

About Lolo Zouaï

Born in Paris to a French mother and Algerian father, singer, songwriter, and producer Lolo Zouaï (zoo-EYE) moved to the Sunset District of San Francisco as a young child when her parents won the Visa lottery. After high school, Lolo spent some time alone back in Paris before relocating to New York City with her mother. It was there that Zouaï wrote her 2018 breakout single, “High Highs to Low Lows,” which propelled her into a series of independent singles, videos, and headline shows around the world, ultimately leading to the release of her highly anticipated debut album in April 2019. Since the release of her album,  High Highs to Low Lows , Lolo has sold out headlines across 14 different countries, amassed over 200 million streams worldwide, and appeared in global campaigns for COACH, Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas, Nike, and more. She is thrilled to be supporting Dua Lipa on her upcoming arena tour in 2022.

I hope she reads this. SO lemme spill the tea. It was freaking amazing. I was so close I could see ever pore on her, and lemme tell you there isn’t many. She’s so amazing and I felt the show ran pretty smoothly except for the fact that it was very hot and everyone around you was sweating their ass off. But she was great. Best night of my life seeing the love of my life. She was so good and it was so beautiful if she ever were to return I would be there in a heart beat. Though the initial show was cancelled I wasn’t one bit mad after attending this one and it was really nice that my old tickets still were valid. Thanks dua, love you lots. -your biggest fan:)

It was the most lit concert i had ever attended. Dua was so full of life & super hyped for the whole concert. Im still upset that yesterday had come to an end way too soon. The most memorable memory i had was the moment she teared uo in her speech for 'New Love' as that song was way too genuine and its from the most vulnerable side of hers. The next memorable moment was the participation in 'IDGAF'the crowd was so wild, and Dua also had a moment with us when she remixed the sentence 'I dont give a F' like amazing man this is the most mesmerising concert i had ever attended. I love you Dua. (heartsheartshearts)

Oh, wow. Dua Lipa was absolutely fantastic! She is extraordinarily talented and really knows how to work a crowd. The band was brilliant — and I can say it was definitely loud enough!

I was very lucky to see her at a venue such as the Apollo. Such a small venue for somebody doing an arena tour! We got the tickets very early on, before she became massive, and I’m very glad we did.

The whole way home I was smiling. The last song — New Rules — set the place on fire, that last chorus was insanely good, and all complete with confetti canons!

Thank you for the time, Dua Lipa! Money well-spent; it was worth every second!

This concert will stay in my mind for as long as I live, thank you!

Dua Lipa

Named after her career-solidifying second album, Dua Lipa ‘s global 2022 trek is titled The Future Nostalgia Tour — but the truth is, what makes the onstage spectacle such an endorphin rush has nothing to do with the shape of things to come. Dua may not be a soothsayer capable of peering into the future of music, but she sure as hell knows how to take the best elements of dance and pop’s past and edit them into a cohesive, exhilarating experience. Taking all the right notes from Madonna’s record-breaking global tours of the 21st century (hello, roller skaters circling the stage), tossing in some Katy Perry kitsch (we see you, gigantic inflatable lobster vibing to the beat) and tossing in some house-y remixes of her material that give off Daft Punk vibes (what’s up, robot voices), the Future Nostalgia Tour is exactly the kind of return-to-the-real-world concert pop fans have been thirsting for.

After a stellar opening from Caroline Polachek, who confidently demonstrated she can hold the attention of a jam-packed Madison Square Garden, Tuesday (March 1) night’s New York City concert kicked off with Dua Lipa and her backup dancers stationed behind LED ballet bars on a calisthenic run-through of “Physical” in neon-hued body suits. “A lot of collective childhood dreams are coming true on this stage,” Lipa said at one point during the show, and her dancers certainly didn’t hold a damn thing back, providing flawless choreography with an easy-going swagger that made it all look easy.

Trending on Billboard

Dua herself delivered high kicks, strong vocals and warm smiles for the crowd, which, according to her, included faces she’s been seeing at her shows since her shows at NYC’s 250-capacity venue Mercury Lounge in 2016. The fact that she’s now headlining MSG in an era where most pop singers struggle to land a second hit after a breakout moment is a testament to her rock-solid catalog, which includes so many recognizable radio bops you can’t help but be surprised that Future Nostalgia is just her second album. The setlist included everything you’d want and expect out of a Dua Lipa show, from the Hot 100 No. 2 smash “Levitating” (fittingly delivered while floating above the crowd) to her top 10 Elton John collab “Cold Heart” (the pre-filmed appearance from Sir Elton onscreen elicited a huge roar from the crowd) to an arena-wide sing-along on early career fan fave “Be the One.”

Save for costume changes when Lipa left the stage, there was really no down time where fans collectively wandered off; everyone in attendance seemed as invested in smashes like “Don’t Start Now” as they were in album tracks such as “Good In Bed.” With the biggest hit of 2021 under her belt and a rapturously cathartic tour ahead of her this year, Dua Lipa’s future looks electric.

Global pop superstar Dua Lipa announced the North American leg of her highly anticipated “Future Nostalgia Tour” for 2022, in support of the Grammy-winning album of the same name. The arena tour makes 28 stops across the U.S., including Little Caesars Arena on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 7:30 p.m.  The Future Nostalgia Tour performance will feature support from Caroline Polachek and Lolo Zouaï.

“I’m so thrilled to tour again and see my angels in person! How amazing that we all get to dance and celebrate together once again,” says Dua. “When I was writing Future Nostalgia, I imagined the songs being played in clubs on nights out with your mates. I’m so excited that this fantasy is finally coming true. I can’t wait to experience these songs with you together live!”

The long-awaited “Future Nostalgia Tour,” produced by Ceremony London, promoted by Live Nation and sponsored by Truly Hard Seltzer, will be the first time Dua connects her live vision for this album in-person with fans. Previously, the superstar was able to connect with fans during her record smashing live stream extravaganza Studio 2054, which had over 5 million viewers during its initial airing and featured special guests Angele, Bad Bunny, Elton John, FKA Twigs, J Balvin, Kylie Minogue, Miley Cyrus and Tainy. Dua is already slated to tour the EU in 2022, making this her first world tour run since breaking records during quarantine with her platinum-certified sophomore album Future Nostalgia.

Future Nostalgia is the longest running top 10 album by a female artist on the Billboard 200 this year and was the #1 most streamed album of 2020 on Spotify. It landed on the year-end “Best Of” lists of everyone from Rolling Stone to Billboard and Pitchfork, and spawned multiple worldwide hit singles including the #1 tracks “Break My Heart,” “Levitating,” which is still topping the charts and is the longest running song ever on Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits playlist, and US 4x platinum lead single “Don’t Start Now,” which broke her personal best record of weeks at #1 at US Top 40 radio and is the most streamed track on Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits playlist in history.

In addition to breaking radio records, Dua is also a dominate force on streaming platforms, topping Spotify’s artist chart as the most streamed female artist on the platform and is currently the fourth biggest artist overall with over 65 million monthly listeners. Future Nostalgia now has over 7 billion streams across all platforms worldwide. After receiving 6 nominations at the 2021 Grammy®s, including Record, Song and Album of the Year. She is now a three-time Grammy® winner, having received awards for Best Pop Vocal Album this year and for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording in 2019. Future Nostalgia was the follow up to her eponymous 2017 debut, which is certified platinum, spawned 6 platinum tracks, and made Dua the first female artist in Brit Awards history to pick up five nominations, with two wins for British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Artist.

Dua Lipa Brings Her Lockdown Anthems to the Arena

The pop star’s second album, “Future Nostalgia,” is ambitious and impressive. Onstage, the production didn’t match the LP’s ecstasy.

dua lipa tour name

By Jon Caramanica

Many of the best Dua Lipa songs start with an easily absorbable concept — “Physical,” “Levitating,” “Cool” — and emanate outward from there. Her music is fleet, stomping and appealingly icy: industrial-grade club-pop that’s mindful of history while flaunting the latest in polish and panache.

The songs are very tightly wound, though. Lipa is a lightly regal singer who often sounds removed from the hiss and purr of her production, as if she’s performing to the track and not with it. Great dance-floor-oriented music often connotes abandon, but Lipa exudes control. She’s a pop superstar, but not quite a full pop personality.

Maybe that’s why on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden, she, like the other 20,000 or so people in attendance, came to sing along to Dua Lipa songs.

That is, naturally, what many have been doing for the past few years, especially the two since the release of Lipa’s “Future Nostalgia, ” one of the first excellent albums of the Covid era. It was, for a little while, the soundtrack of our collective hallucination about the possibilities that had been wrested away by social isolation, a set of clinically ecstatic, pointedly unbendable anthems designed for megaclubs that wouldn’t reopen for months or more.

In many ways, Lipa, 26, is a pop superstar for diminished times. From Madonna to Katy Perry to Lady Gaga to Rihanna to Billie Eilish, the most successful figures in the last few decades of pop music built worlds. They are philosophers of the body and aesthetics as much as sound.

Lipa’s music doesn’t ask questions, though, or suggest alternate interpretations. It is — especially on songs like the buoyant “New Rules” and “Electricity” (made with Mark Ronson and Diplo, working under the Chicago house music-evoking name Silk City) — perhaps overly studious, though in the best way. At times, Lipa sounds like she’s doing devoted analysis of the club-pop of the early 1990s, not a nostalgist so much as a historical re-enactor.

But Lipa’s ambition isn’t academic-scaled, it’s domination-focused. And that requires something more than pinpoint recreations. This performance, part of her Future Nostalgia Tour, had the thrill of listening to Lipa songs on the radio — a wonderful way to lose yourself when you have to keep your eyes on the road.

Given the sheer popularity of Lipa’s music, the show was modest, a concept-less, box-checking production that severely underplayed Lipa’s stadium-size goals. A meager arrangement of balloons dropped from the rafters during “One Kiss.” Lipa and her dancers oozed through a pro forma umbrella routine during “New Rules.” Later, a handful of orbs and stars limply dangled from the ceiling. During “We’re Good,” Lipa sat on the stage singing, while nearby, an inflatable lobster hovered … menacingly? Not quite that. More woozily. (The accompanying animation on the big screen at the back of the stage recalled Perry’s cheekiness, which is not generally part of Lipa’s arsenal.)

Throughout the night, Lipa was flanked by up to 10 dancers and two roller skaters. She is a labored dancer, choosing choreography that emphasizes small, tart movements while telegraphing big sentiment: a power stomp out to the end of the runway on “New Rules,” an extreme dose of hair whipping on “Future Nostalgia.” But rarely did the theater of the presentation match the drama of the songs themselves.

As for the songs, the arrangements were faithful and emphatic — they filled the space that the happenings onstage did not. Lipa never sang more forcefully than the arsenal of backup singers and prerecorded vocals that were bolstering her. On her albums, she sings with an occasional growl, but whenever those moments arose here, she appeared to pull back from the rigor. (Lipa’s dancers were given an elaborate video introduction at the beginning of the show. At the end of the night, she introduced her band members by name, but — pointedly? — not her backup singers.)

It was not unpleasant — “Break My Heart” was cheerful, “Don’t Start Now” was punchy, “Cool” was ethereal. But these were closed loops, reinforcement of feelings already experienced more than jumping-off points for growth. All in all, inhibition outweighed risk — a perfect recreation of a time when we were all inside, wondering if we’d ever be set free.

Dua Lipa Announces New Album ‘Radical Optimism,’ Inspired by Her New Life Outlook

By Tomás Mier

DL3 finally has a name and a release date!

Dua Lipa announced her third studio album, titled Radical Optimism , on Instagram Wednesday. The album, out on May 3, will feature 11 songs and is inspired, in part, by U.K. rave culture.

“A couple of years ago, a friend introduced me to the term Radical Optimism ,” the singer said in a press release. “It’s a concept that resonated with me, and I became more curious as I started to play with it and weave it into my life.”

“It struck me – the idea of going through chaos gracefully and feeling like you can weather any storm,” she added. “At the same time, I found myself looking through the music history of psychedelia, trip-hop, and Britpop. It has always felt so confidently optimistic to me, and that honesty and attitude is a feeling I took into my recording sessions.”

The singer also released the track list for the album, which features song titles such as “These Walls,” “French Exit,” Falling Forever,” and “Maria.”

Lipa sat down for a cover story interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year. The story revealed that the LP “captures a period of major changes in her life, including the end of a relationship and her forays into dating.”

Dua Lipa Performs Surprise Pop-Up Concert in New York City's Times Square — Watch

The singer performed 'Training Season,' 'Houdini,' 'Happy for You' and 'Illusion,' off of her new album 'Radical Optimism,' during the impromptu show

dua lipa tour name

Dua Lipa had a busy weekend!

Less than 24 hours after pulling double duty as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live , the 28-year-old singer put on a surprise performance in New York City on Sunday, May 5, performing four songs from her brand-new album Radical Optimism .

After kicking off her set with the song "Training Season," Lipa went on to treat the crowd with renditions of "Houdini," "Happy for You" and "Illusion" during the pop-up concert in Times Square.

Lipa teased the show two hours ahead of time, writing on X (formerly known as Twitter), "8.30PM EST, ONE TIMES SQUARE PLAZA 43RD STREET AND 7TH AVE, I HAVE A SPECIAL PERFORMANCE FOR YOU, SEE YOU SOON 🌊 @AmericanExpress ."

The previous evening, Lipa kicked off her SNL appearance with a monologue that saw her introducing herself and noting that some call her "Dula Peep."

She revealed her parents were in the audience and joked about seeing them out in the club, before adding that they "had always been so supportive" — including letting her move from Kosovo to London at age 15 to pursue her career, noting that she'd just dropped her third album.

The three-time Grammy Award -winner later performed two tracks from Radical Optimism : "Happy for You," which was introduced by guest star  Jerry Seinfeld , and "Illusion," introduced, in another cameo, by  Troye Sivan .

Saturday marked the "Dance the Night" hitmaker's first return to  SNL  since she was the musical guest opposite host (and SNL alum!)  Kristen Wiig  in 2020.

Saturday Night Life/YouTube

Ahead of her more recent SNL appearance, Lipa appeared on  SiriusXM’s  The Morning Mash Up to discuss the gig — and whether she thought she'd break character.

"It's gonna be fun. I'm ready . I'm prepped," she told the radio program, explaining that she was equally nervous about "both" jobs on the live NBC sketch series.

"I was having this conversation with Bowen Yang , who is also on  SNL , and I was telling him about the last time when I performed on  SNL  during the dress rehearsal," Lipa recalled.

"I was really, really nervous. And also, I was doing a skit with them and then after the dress rehearsal, we sit in a room and it's the whole cast," she said. " Lorne [Michaels]  comes in, and we're talking about the skits — what's good, what's not, what we're going to change, you know — and at that point, something just switched, and I felt like a real part of the team."

Radical Optimism is now streaming wherever you listen to music.

When did Dua Lipa's new album come out?

Lipa’s third studio album was released Friday. The album cover features Lipa with her hair dyed red for this new era of music, chilling in the ocean with a shark fin, which could signal trouble, prominently poking out of the water.

But on the Zach Sang Show , Lipa described the blue of the ocean as an optimistic color, and the red of her hair as the 'radical side'. She stands calm and composed with a shark nearby, showing us she's radically optimistic, even when she could be in danger.

The three singles from Radical Optimism preceding the album release include "Houdini," "Training Season" and "Illusion."

How many albums has Dua Lipa released?

Lipa has released three studio albums, including:

  • Dua Lipa (2017)
  • Future Nostalgia (2020)
  • Radical Optimism (2024)

What do the critics say about Radical Optimism?

According to Billboard , Lipa’s songwriting tells listeners that she’s looking for real, old-school love, and is yearning to settle down. This album reveals her discovery of self-awareness and maturity.

The production contains disco-pop beats, similar to her second studio album, "Future Nostalgia." Billboard describes the two albums as sisters — except "Radical Optimism" is older, wiser, and smarter, but still a hopeless romantic.

Radical Optimism received a 6.6. on Pitchfork , which is a bit more critical of Lipa’s music. Pitchfork describes the third studio album as ‘muffled’, saying that she stridently resists personal disclosure in her work.

Is Dua Lipa her real name?

Yes. Though it may sound like a stage name, Dua Lipa is her real name, according to IMDb . Dua means ‘love’ in Albanian.

How many No. 1 hits has Dua Lipa had?

According to Official Charts , Lipa has received four No. 1 hits and one No. 1 album in England, but none in the US. Yet.

Liner Notes: ‘Radical Optimism’ falls short of Dua Lipa’s past work

Although+%E2%80%9CRadical+Optimism%E2%80%9D+succeeds+in+sounding+groovy+and+worthy+of+a+dance+floor%2C+the+album+lacks+cohesion+and+depth.

Despite its title, “Radical Optimism,” I feel pretty pessimistic about Dua Lipa’s latest album, released Thursday night.

In line with her snappy two-word album names, Lipa’s third studio album, “Radical Optimism,” comes four years after her 2020 album “Future Nostalgia.” Infused with funky beats and 80’s disco influences, “Future Nostalgia” received rave reviews and catalyzed the revival of disco in pop music.

“Radical Optimism” simply is not as memorable or as hit-worthy as Lipa’s past work.

Aiming for a summery vibe with a touch of 70’s psychedelia, Lipa sang goodbye to synth beats with a more natural, toned-down production. Although “Radical Optimism” succeeds in sounding groovy and worthy of a dance floor, the album lacks cohesion and depth.

Some tracks, like “Houdini” and “Training Season,” feel like a welcomed continuation of the dance anthems from “Future Nostalgia.” Others, such as “These Walls” and “French Exit,” feel like soft, beachy jams. Another, “Falling Forever,” is one very long belt, with little vocal variation.

It’s confusing whether you’re listening to Lipa’s past discography, her new album or a snippet from “Barbie the Album.” The lack of a uniform sound makes “Radical Optimism” feel messy and scattered.

Lipa’s music has never been too personal or vulnerable. I commend her for achieving pop-star status without revealing too much of her own life. Yet, it’s difficult to pinpoint whether she’s actually experienced the emotions on the tracklist of “Radical Optimism.”

Some of the lyrics are too overarching and bland: “If these walls could talk / They’d tell us to break up” and “It’s not a broken heart if I don’t break it” just don’t pack an emotional punch. Anyone could have sung these songs. With her extensive writing team, you’d think Lipa’s lyrics would be more refined.

But Lipa does know how to make a commercially successful hit. Short run times, punchy choruses and simple-but-catchy lyrics are her forte. She shines in “Houdini,” “Training Season” and “Illusion” with their tongue-in-cheek one-liners and strong beats. “Radical Optimism’s” singles are sure to be summer anthems these next few months. They may be too good for the album, starkly standing out from the other tracks.

Had anyone else released this album, I would probably have regarded it more positively. But Lipa has proved that she can innovate and truly change the trajectory of pop music, and “Radical Optimism” doesn’t showcase her full potential.

“Radical Optimism” is devoid of much of what made Lipa most popular. Here, her inventive production has been pulled back. Besides the lead singles, the concepts of the songs are forgettable.

Knowing that Lipa is capable of creating a near-perfect album, I hope she can regain her grounding.

Singer and songwriter Dua Lipa has performed her music on “Saturday Night Live” before, but for the first time, she pulled double duty as guest host and musical act. The sketch-heavy show didn’t try to surround her with a bunch of cameos or five-timers jackets or anything gimmicky this week. Except for a “Weekend Update” appearance by Jerry Seinfeld , who was there to promote his new Netflix movie, “ Unfrosted , and a musical introduction by actor and musician Troye Sivan, Lipa was mostly left to her own devices to show if she could “give you everything” as she promised in her monologue.

The result? A mixed bag of sketches that were neither derailed by the singer nor really elevated much by her presence. Except for a funny filmed homage to “The Elephant Man,” she was either relegated to secondary parts that didn’t require her to carry a scene, or dropped in for a few lines and then made to disappear. At least two of the sketches were repeats of ones from previous episodes, including a Young Spicy sketch about voice-over artists recording inappropriate rap song intros, and the return of phone number jingle artists Soul Booth at the end of the show. Elsewhere, Lipa played a woman with a Sonny Angel doll collection come to life who wants to re-create the vibe of the new movie “ Challengers ,” a wearer of very tiny activist pins on the red carpet, and an eater of penne alla vodka , which is always there for us in its bland, comforting way. She also was a nurse for a barbecue pitmaster turned OB-GYN named Fat Daddy.

If nothing else, this episode whetted the appetite for next week’s return of Maya Rudolph as host.

As musical guest, Dua Lipa performed “ Illusion ,” introduced by Sivan, and “ Happy for You ,” introduced by Seinfeld.

This week’s cold open eschewed White House politics or Trump court drama for a look at how parents are reacting to recent student protests at college campuses . The backdrop was a show, “Community Affairs With Ryan Abernathy,” whose host (Michael Longfellow) asked parents of New York college students what they think about their kids protesting (presumably for Palestine). The joke was that Alphonse Roberts (Kenan Thompson), parent of a Columbia student, isn’t worried about his kid Alexa Vanessa Roberts because she is not protesting. “She better have her butt in class. I’m supportive of y’all’s kids protesting, not my kids,” he said. “Free this, free that. I’ll tell you what’s not free: Columbia.” He talked about the jobs he’s working to help pay for $68,000 a year in tuition so that his daughter can get a degree in African American studies and how he’s looking forward to going to her graduation while in deep denial that commencement might be canceled.

In her monologue, Lipa (or as she’s come to accept, “ Dula Peep ”) showed off her parents in the audience, who named her Dua, Albanian for “love,” and Lipa, “Albanian for my last name.” The singer said her parents party as hard as she does, recounting how she ran into them late one night at a London club. She talked about her new album, “Radical Optimism,” and gave examples of it to cast members in the audience who recounted their sad situations, like being dumped or being told by a doctor to stop drinking. Lipa’s advice: “There’s always poppers!” But she cut off one audience member — South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (Heidi Gardner) — before she could ask anything. She joked about the “lazy dance” meme that she’s embraced over time and promising to do the opposite as guest host. “I’m gonna give you everything! I’m making the wigs, I’m dealing Adderall to the writers, I’m doing it all!”

Best sketch of the night: ‘The Anomalous Man’ has swagger

The black-and-white pre-taped sketch features Sarah Sherman as an Elephant Man-like playwright named Peter who has claw hands, a pig’s snout for an ear and a gigantic eye on his back. A woman named Emily (Lipa) meets Peter and shows him affection he says he’s never felt before. The two start to fall in love, but the first night they share a bed together, she’s awoken by the sound of text messages. Peter, it turns out, has multiple phones and multiple women he’s planning to bed, sending messages like, “POV: You’re about to get railed by a weirdo.”

Also good: Explaining the Kendrick Lamar-Drake feud

On the TV show “Good Morning, Greenville,” the hosts (Gardner and Mikey Day) cluelessly try to explain the escalating feud between rappers Kendrick Lamar and Drake, which came to a head Friday with the release of three diss tracks and was followed by a fourth on Saturday night . Hilariously, the two hosts try to include their Black weatherman (Devon Walker), who asks to be left out of the very uninformed and basic discourse. A piano teacher (Lipa), who considers Elton John lyrics to be rap, tries to decipher the tracks and comes to the conclusion that Drake is Canadian and that Kendrick’s shoe size is being scrutinized. The cringe level reaches its pinnacle when the hosts try to squash the beef with cutouts of Drake and Lamar’s faces they use as puppets. “Nah,” the weatherman says as he leaves the studio.

‘Weekend Update’ winner: Cricket is a good boy

This week’s “Weekend Update” had three guests, including Chloe Fineman revising her JoJo Siwa impression to chronicle her new “bad girl” image, and Seinfeld discussing the fatigue of doing too much press for his new movie, with a warning specifically for Ryan Gosling. But it was Marcello Hernandez who had the most impact with his portrayal of Noem’s other puppy, Cricket the 7th, who defended the governor while apparently suffering from Stockholm syndrome. The canine insisted the first six Crickets were bad dogs, while he hoped for a long life. A talking button set the canine uses begged to differ with messages including, “She is going to kill me tonight,” and “I die tonight.” “I’m a good boy!” the dog insisted as the segment concluded.

Dua Lipa set too high of a bar with ‘Future Nostalgia’ for ‘Radical Optimism’ to stand out: review

Radical Optimism

“Radical Optimism” is solid.

Had Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae or any of the other up-and-coming pop girlies released the album, it would’ve been a guaranteed star-maker.

But bona fide dance-floor diva Dua Lipa set too high of a bar for herself with 2020’s “Future Nostalgia,” one of the greatest LPs of the decade so far, for its follow-up to stand out.

Dua Lipa "Radical Optimism"

Primarily produced by Danny L Harle and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, “Radical Optimism” ( out Friday ) takes listeners on a first-class flight to the Mediterranean, where bottomless Aperol spritzes, white-sand beaches and the hottest people you’ve ever laid eyes on await.

It’s the quintessential summer album Miley Cyrus thought she gave us , the yacht record of the Jonas Brothers’ dreams , the juiciest peach Europe has devoured since “Call Me by Your Name.”

And with just 11 tracks, Lipa makes a case for short albums being cool again, showing the Taylor Swifts , Drakes and Morgan Wallens of the industry that less can be more.

The Grammy winner, 28, breezes through ditties like the sun-kissed “End of an Era” and the criminally fleeting “Anything for Love,” and she soars on mammoth numbers such as the unforgettable ABBA salute “Falling Forever” and the flute-tastic “Maria.”

But some songs fall flat, namely — and bizarrely — the promotional singles “Training Season” and “Illusion,” neither of which fit the record’s warm, seaside vibe.

Even “Houdini,” the nu-disco hit that kicked off the “Radical Optimism” era, feels like a “Future Nostalgia” reject alongside more fresh-faced tunes like “French Exit.”

Dua Lipa

So if you’re looking for a tour de force à la “Levitating,” you’re not gonna find it here.

But if unadulterated fun in the sun is the only thing on your summer checklist, boy, has Lipa got a treat for you.

Who would’ve thought that all those vacations she took were for research?
