The itinerary is subject to change:

The tides will dictate your arrival time onto the island, so we may include a ‘surprise’ on the mainland, before heading on the barge to K’Gari. Tides and weather may also dictate the order of the itinerary activities. Your guide will advise of the planned itinerary and the day’s activities at the start of the tour.

Driving criteria:

Customers MUST confirm at the time of booking if each guest is participating as a driver. To be eligible to drive on this tour, you must be:

• Over the age of 21 years
• Have held a full manual driver's license for at least 1 year; and
• Have your national driver's license with you (international driving permits unaccompanied by a national driver's license are invalid).

If you do not meet all the above criteria, you will not be eligible to partake as a driver.

3 Day Fraser Island 4WD Tag-Along Adventure Itinerary

We start our adventure with a fun and informative tour briefing, complete with a lesson on how to drive safely on K’gari (Fraser Island) to prepare you for the trip ahead. Next, we’ll gear up in groups, and once you have a sleeping bag and luggage storage organised, we’re off!

After a quick 10-minute ferry crossing, we’ll hit the sand and K’gari’s 75 Mile Beach Highway – our first destination is Eurong Beach Resort. Here you’ll get a chance to fuel up on caffeine and delicious pastries (own expense) before the real adventure begins. Next up: Lake McKenzie! One of the most picturesque and rightly popular spots on the island, this is a perched lake, known for only being filled with rainwater – making it incredibly clear. You’ll have the opportunity to spend the day swimming and relaxing, as well as tucking into a delicious lunch.

Once you’ve had enough R&R, we’ll head to our campsite, where we will settle in for an early dinner and some well-deserved drinks.

The next morning we’ll be up bright and early, fuelling up with breakfast for a busy day on K’gari. Our first stop will be Eli Creek, where you’ll get the chance to swim and float in the crystal-clear freshwater creek. Afterwards, we’ll check out the famous Maheno Shipwrecks, followed by Indian Head, the island’s highest point. If you’re lucky, you may even spot some whales and sharks in the distance. Next up, we’ll go for a dip in the wonderful Champagne Pools. Lunch will be served at either Maheno Shipwreck or Champagne Pools, depending on time constraints and tide times. In the afternoon, travel back to camp for dinner and drinks.

On our last day, we’ll start the morning with breakfast and disassembling our campsites. Once all packed, we’ll make our way to Lake Wabby, where we’ll trek through magnificent sand dunes. Lunch will be served at the tropical paradise of Lake Wabby. Afterwards, it’s time for us to make our way back to the barge and cross back to the mainland. Once on the mainland, head to the 4WD shed where you can unpack and quickly clean the cars – this is where our adventure comes to an end, unfortunately.

On our 3 day Fraser Island tagalong tour you will have an experienced knowledgeable lead guide as you drive around the Island. Walk under the rainforest at Pile Valley in the heart of Fraser Island, 4wd drive the 75 Mile Beach to Indian Head Swim at Champagne Pools and Eli Creek, take photos at The Maheno Shipwreck and colored sands, and adventure along 4wd tracks to the secret Lake Allom and swim with the turtle’s.

You will relax, play and swim at the beautiful blue Lake Birrabeen. Have a relaxed, friendly, and loads of fun. 3 days is just the right amount of time to enjoy Fraser Island.

After getting organised at Fraser Dingo HQ in the morning, we do a quick stop at the shops where you can purchase additional snacks, alcohol, coffee etc.

At 9:30 am we head to the barge, which leaves at 10:15 am to arrive 30min later at Wangoolba Creek on beautiful Fraser Island! We 4WD across the Island & up 75 Mile Beach to Happy Valley for a BBQ lunch, unpack gear & designate rooms at the accommodation. After lunch, we visit (Eli Creek + Maheno Shipwreck + Pinnacles) or Lake Garrawongerra if it’s high tide!

We then return to the camp around 4.30pm for an afternoon relax, drink, volley ball on the beach etc. Dinner is at 7:00pm, enjoy games, night walk etc after dinner.

Quiet time from 10:30pm to be in great shape for DAY 2!

We start early with a sunrise walk (optional) before sharing a continental breakfast. Then depart for a beach drive to Indian Head + Champagne Pools, with a stop at Lake Allom on the way. Enjoy lunch at Cathedrals before returning to the accommodation by about 4:30pm.

Free time for an afternoon relax, drink, volley ball on the beach etc.

Dinner is at 7:00pm, enjoy games, night walk etc after dinner.

Quiet time from 10:30pm to be in great shape for DAY 3!

Start the day with a hot breakfast at about 7:00am, before heading to Lake Wabby, Central Station, Pile Valley and Lake Mckenzie or Lake Birrabeen. We have lunch at Eurong, then head back to Kingfisher Resort where we have snacks, afternoon drinks (not provided), walk or swim at the resort etc. The barge leaves the island at 5:00pm.

We are back at Fraser Dingo HQ by 6:15pm-6:30pm to pick up vehicles or drop off back to pick up point.

• No off-road driving experience is necessary, you will be briefed and shown the correct methods. There is no pressure to drive, you are more than welcome to be a passenger!
• Drivers must be 21 years or over, with an open license (automatic transmission).
• Passengers only need to be a minimum of 18 years of age (tour not appropriate for children).

All meals are prepared and cooked by our wonderful volunteers and guide, but you can help out if you want!

Alcohol and snack shop with the group and guide the morning of departure

Yes, this is a government requirement, and is usually best done the day before you want to depart to Fraser Island, but can also be done the morning of departure for the 10:15am barge. It takes about 1hour and this also gives us the opportunity to meet our clients.

The person hiring the vehicle must be over 21 years of age. They must have an open licence with a minimum of 2 years driving experience. International travelers must have a current international licence.

Tag-a-Long Tours are an exciting way to travel with like-minded people who also enjoy beaches, lakes, rainforest, Island gateways; try 4WD tracks and beach driving whilst visiting new and interesting places - all in the safety of their own vehicle, in a convoy with others, experienced local guide. Sunrovers guides will pass on local history and information along the way at each of the tour Attractions. Island travel is always changing and the tides and beach/weather conditions do play a part. Generally all tours are graded as "easy" to "medium", depending on the conditions, and are suitable for stock standard four wheel drives. Weather and track conditions do vary considerably however, so basic recovery gear should be carried in your vehicle. If you are fairly new to the four wheel driving on sand, our guide will give a 20mins introduction prior to departing the sealed road, along the way and at island Attractions. Stay in 1 of 60 cabin style tents, grouped under large shade covers that are amongst the shady trees for complete weather protection. There is also a large covered dining / recreation area with full lighting. The camp is isolated from other campers and is adjacent to the national park showers and toilets. Your group can have exclusive use of our venue. We also offer kayaks, snorkel, and fishing gear, campsite, lighting, gas BBQ included in the price.

Each tent fits from 1 to 6 persons with mattress and sleeping stretcher included. A tag along 4WD adventure gives you the freedom to drive a 4WD with the reassurance that a tour guide is nearby if you get into trouble or don't have much experience driving on sand. Tag Along with Fraser Dingo

Hop in your vehicle and away you go! Fraser Dingo's tag along option allows guests to drive on K'gari so you can take part in the 4WD adventure! You, along with 6 other guests, will have a vehicle at your disposal as you explore K'gari (Fraser Island) - no experience needed! Follow the lead car, piloted by your guide, to all of K'gari's best destinations and enjoy the thrill of driving. But don't worry - you don't have to drive. You can also choose to sit back and relax as someone else navigates the sand highway! 

Drivers must be 21 years of age and have an open license. Safey briefings and driving instructions included at the start of the tour.

After meeting at Fraser Dingo HQ at 7:15AM it's time to head out on your four-wheel drive adventure and hear some fascinating facts from your guide. At 8:15AM you will head to the barge with your sights aimed at Wangoolba Creek on the beautiful K'gari (Fraser Island). 

The first stop on the trip is Central Station, the heart of K'gari. Next up is a cruise along 75 Mile Beach to Happy Valley for a BBQ lunch. After lunch, it's off the visit Eli Creek for a quick dip or relaxing float down the river, before heading on to the Maheno Shipwreck and the Pinnacles or Lake Garrawongerra.

We then return to the accommodation for an afternoon relaxing, drinking, and even volleyball on the beach! Dinner is at 7:00pm, where you can enjoy some games afterwards or enjoy a nice night walk! Noise curfew by 10pm to be in great shape for day 2.

Your day starts with a continental breakfast before a morning of lake explorations. First up is Lake Wabby or Garrawongerra, followed by lunch and then a visit to Lake McKenzie! This beautiful perched lake is known for its white sands and clear waters, so be sure you enjoy every second at this famous location. Next up is some inner island 4WD track exploration as we head to Kingfisher Bay resort where you will catch the Barge back to Hervey Bay.

Important information: .

• MANDATORY safety briefing at 7:15AM at our office the morning of departure (Pickups begin from 7am, please be waiting outside and ready for pickup. We depart for the ferry at 8:15AM for a 9AM ferry departure)
• Guests wanting to drive must be over 21 with a current license
• Free Passenger pick-up from major Hervey Bay hostels.
• A credit card imprint is required for drivers (no funds held).
• You will receive an informational email 3 days prior to departure that must be answered by 9:30AM the day prior to departure.
• Please note this tour may not be suitable if you have existing neck or back problems or are pregnant. Check with your agent to make sure this tour is suitable for you.
• Tour is suitable for those aged 18 and up. Drivers must be 21 years old.

Your Responsibilities:

You must reconfirm all booked tours prior to travel as specified on your voucher. If applicable, notes such as dietary requirements, pick-up locations and additional fees should also be confirmed at this time. Reconfirmations cannot be actioned through Fraser Tours / Mr Travel, and must be done so directly through the Service Operator as specified on each ticket.

It is your responsibility to notify us of ticket discrepancies. Please read through the details on your voucher thoroughly to ensure all details such as passenger names, ages and dates of travel on vouchers are correct.

It is the responsibility of all passengers travelling to advise both your travel agent at the time of booking and vessel check-in agent before boarding of any medical conditions including food allergies you may suffer from.

You need to allow adequate time to check-in prior to the specified departure time. 

Prices/Extra Costs:

All prices are stated in Australian dollars and include GST. Surcharges over peak holiday seasons may apply. 

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices and extra costs. Extra costs may include EMC fees, Stingersuit/Wetsuit Hire, Luggage Storage, Insurance, Linen Hire, National Park Fees, Fuel Levies, Dietary Fees, etc. Bonds may also apply.

We will also endeavour to communicate these extra costs with you at the time of booking, and on your ticket. However, it is your responsibility to confirm which (if any) additional costs apply with each Service Operator upon reconfirming your trip.

Travel Risk/Insurance:

It should be noted that adventure travel involves risk. Whilst we make every effort to safeguard clients, we cannot be responsible for personal injury or loss due to the actions of our clients which are beyond our control. We highly recommend that all clients have travel insurance covering illness, injury, loss or damage to personal belongings and not being able to travel on the confirmed date of departure. You should also ensure your travel insurance will cover special circumstances including weather events preventing guests from travelling to their tour departure destination and cancelled flights due to unforeseen circumstances. 

Merchant Fees:

Please be aware operators pass on credit card merchant fees so there is a non-refundable 1% surcharge for VISA and MASTERCARD card purchases.

All ticket/voucher reissues attract a $20 administration fee.

Open Date Vouchers / Gift Certificate:

Shipping Costs are in addition to the ticket price and will be added at check-out. Shipping costs are non-refundable and do not makeup part of the ticket value. 

E-Vouchers incur no shipping fees. You have 5 years to use the value of the voucher. Seasonal Price Rises will apply if travelling out the current seasons pricing. Vouchers can be exchanged for free up to the full value of the voucher excluding credit card fees and charges.

Cancellations

Client Cancellations: All cancellations forfeit 25% of the recommended retail price (RRP) - not the discounted/sale price. No cancellations, refunds, or date changes within 7 days of departure date. No shows or client cancellations made within 7 days of departure forfeit 100% of the total ticket price. Open dated vouchers must book a minimum of 2 weeks prior to departure. 

Transfers between tours can be made at the suppliers discretion, however, it should be noted that supplier fees may apply. Tour transfers also incur a $20 administration fee. 

It is compulsory that all cancellation requests are in writing and sent via email to [email protected]. Cancellations attempted via online chat or phone will not be actioned.

Supplier Cancellations:

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices, alter itineraries, apply a fuel surcharge, cancel departures, arrange alternative transport and vary itineraries and services if necessary.

All departures and itineraries are subject to weather. Tours may be changed or cancelled for any reason at the discretion of the Service Operator. If the Service Operator has to cancel the trip or activity (prior to departure) and we cannot offer a suitable alternative, then a refund will be given minus a 20% administration fee and any associated card fees. We strongly recommend that you have travel insurance, especially during the wet season.

In the unlikely event of your trip being cancelled or stood down, all guest communication is required to go through our Online Store.

All refunds are in Australian Dollars and must be made to the card of payment. Fraser Tours/Mr Travel is not liable for exchange rate fluctuations or fees, or any other merchant/bank fees associated with domestic and/or international transactions.

Where a full refund is applicable, there is the option to transfer the whole cost of the tour to another tour or “Credit” to avoid the administration fee. A transfer fee of $20 will apply.

You will be emailed confirmation once the refund has been processed. Once the refund has been processed, it may still take time for the banks to clear the amount. Please allow 7-10 business days for the funds to clear into Australian accounts and up to 21 business days for international accounts.

Accountability/Misconduct:

All Service Operators have the right to provide client feedback and to cancel bookings based off of feedback from other Service Operators.

Fraser Tours/Mr Travel will treat this as any normal client cancellation and therefore the cancellation fees stated in the Client Cancellation Policy will apply.

There is fresh drinking water available at K'gari Beach Resort, plus some refillable water stations at various locations around the island. We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle so you can top-up whenever necessary.
