Day 1 We travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais and then make our way through Belgium and into Holland. Suitable stops will be made en route for meals and refreshments.

Day 2 We visit the world famous Keukenhof Gardens, with plenty of time to enjoy the gardens created in 1949 as a showpiece for the Dutch flower industry, and to walk among the magnificent displays of tulips and other bulbs which bloom in their millions. During the day you can leave the gardens to view the annual Flower Parade as it makes its way from Noordwijk to Haarlem.

Day 3 A full day in Amsterdam including a cruise on a glass topped boat. Sit back and enjoy the sights along the network of over 160 canals and 1000 bridges, travelling through the UNESCO canal district alongside 17th-century gabled houses and beautiful churches. The rest of the day is free and this compact city is easily explored on foot. You could visit one of the many museums, buy yourself some diamonds, visit the famous ‘Damrak’ shopping street or relax in a café and watch the world go by.

Day 4 We travel through Holland, across Belgium and on to the port of Calais for our afternoon short sea crossing. We then return along the coast, meeting our taxis and continuing home.

Holland – The Bulbfields, Keukenhof Park & Golden Circle

Staying at the 4* Van der Valk Hotel Katwoude, Volendam This year’s Bulbfields holiday includes a special tour around The Golden Circle – a route which takes you through many Dutch towns & villages, across the dam of the Zuider Zee and past many windmills and tulips on the way. We of course will also visit the outstanding Keukenhof Park, which is said to cover 32 hectares which feature approximately 7 million flower bulbs that are planted in the gardens annually. Our 4-star hotel is situated close to Volendam and is of high quality, ideally located for our touring programme.

Our Itinerary DAY 1 After our friendly and personal door to door service has escorted you to our coach, we travel via York to the port of Hull for our overnight crossing to Europort Rotterdam. Tonight, the ship is our accommodation, with outside cabins with side-by-side berths and on-board entertainment should you desire. DAY 2 On arrival in Holland and after clearing customs we board our coach and drive north and visit the quaint Dutch Villages of Marken and Volendam for the day. Once we have taken all this in, we will continue onto our hotel for evening dinner and our stay of 2 nights. DAY 3 Today includes a special full day tour, giving you the chance to experience the beautiful “Golden Circle”, crossing the dam of the Zuider Zee. DAY 4 After our breakfast in the hotel, we board the coach & drive to the pinnacle of your holiday – Keukenhof Park, which features possibly the most colourful display of Bulb Flowers in Europe. Later we continue to Rotterdam and Europort for our overnight sailing to Hull with the same level of high-class accommodation and entertainment provided as the first evening of your holiday. Keukenhof celebrates its 75th anniversary

This year marks the 75 th anniversary of the flower exhibition Keukenhof, and we were pleased to visit in April 2024 and offer our clients the chance to experience the very best of traditional Holland. The world-famous Garden opened its doors on 21 st March, exactly 75 years after it opened to the public for the very first time!

Keukenhof, also known as the Garden of Europe, is one of the world's largest flower gardens, situated in the Netherlands. It not only provides a backdrop for its 7 million spring-flowering bulbs, but is also a nice location for sculptures and other works of art that give the park an added dimension. Open for just 8 weeks each year, the organization expects that well over 1.4 million people from around the world will visit the exhibition. Keukenhof thereby provides a major contribution to the tourist and flower sector in the Netherlands.

During our 2024 tour, which departed on Thursday 11 th April, the weather was perfect with unusually high temperatures. With 37 passengers and 2 drivers on board, the coach was nearly full to capacity. Our staff member, Marcia, who travelled as a guest on this holiday, was keen to see Keukenhof during its 75th anniversary and have a look around our new hotel, the Carlton Beach.

Marcia said: "The Keukenhof holiday has been on my radar to visit for many years after customer feedback from previous trips. The gardens were simply stunning with more varieties of tulips than anyone could ever imagine, certainly a photographer's dream. The hotel's position was on the beachside and ideal for an evening stroll along the beach or a walk along the pier. Day three included a lovely heritage train ride to view the fields of bulbs in the countryside followed by the steamer on Lake Ijsselmeer. Another highlight of the trip was the open-air museum Zaanse Schans which had a working windmill, traditional houses with people living in them, and there was also a clog factory, cheese factory with samples of a variety of local cheeses and a lovely bakery on-site. The journey on the P&O overnight crossing both ways offered great food, we were spoilt for choices with a vast array of food for the evening meal and breakfast, the ship included evening entertainment of live singers, movies or lounges to relax and enjoy the crossing."

Our new accommodation in The Hague, the 4* Carlton Beach Hotel, is a charming property located on the seafront, just 20 steps from the beach. It is decorated in a warm and contemporary style and offers excellent leisure facilities including an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, spa, fitness centre with gym, and bicycle rental. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and feature a flat-screen TV, safe, minibar, air-conditioning, and a private balcony.

There's no better time of year to take a coach tour of the Dutch Bulbfields than in spring where over 4 million tulips bloom in a vast space of land that can be explored on foot via footpaths stretching for over 15km. So comfortable walking shoes are a necessity when visiting. The most favourite of them all is Keukenhof Gardens which tend to burst into a rainbow of colour from the end of March until the middle of May .

Every year, visitors in their millions, travel from all over the world to see the Bulbfields of Keukenhof Holland which is why so many refer to it as 'one of the world's most beautiful gardens of Spring'. Not only can visitors see the famous tulips, they can also attend a variety of flower shows within the Keukenhof Park. There are over 25 different flower shows taking place here where the growers present their most beautiful flowers and arrange them so they capture the visitor's imagination. Each flower show held here presents something uniquely different each day for the visitor including displays of freesia, daffodils, gerbera and so much more.

The area where the Keukenhof Garden is based used to be a hunting ground during the 15 th century and when Jacoba van Beieren used to live in the castle, the staff would collect a variety of herbs to be used in the kitchens. When Jacoba van Beieren died, the grounds were taken over by Baron and Baroness Van Pallandt who commissioned the designers of Amsterdam Vondelpark (J.D and L.P Zocher) to create a landscape garden surrounding the castle. Nowadays, Keukenhof is in the capable hands of a Foundation who ensure the survival of the park for generations to come.

One things for sure, you won't see anything like it on holiday in Holland so do explore every corner of Keukenhof. Rest those aching feet upon one of the many strategically placed benches, admire the views and enjoy a bite to eat on the sun terraces. Don't forget your camera so you can capture every colourful moment!

How to get there: All coach packages will include transfers directly to the venue. The bulbfields are a ten minute walk from the town of Lisse, just off the A44. If you are travelling by car both roads N208 and N206 are perpendicular to the fields with plenty of parking on either side. 

At 32 hectares Keukenhof is the world's largest flower garden, with around 7 million bulbs planted there every year!

Dutch Waterways & the Keukenhof Gardens

A new river cruise for 2024 takes us along the Dutch waterways from Antwerp to Amsterdam via Rotterdam. a holiday that combines the relaxing and peaceful style of a river cruise along the lovely waterways of Holland, with a visit to the wonderfully vibrant Keukenhof Gardens, the bustling city of Amsterdam and picture postcard Volendam. Our tour is based aboard the River Cruiser, the MS l’Europe, with a full board package, complimentary drinks and entertainment.

Your Accommodation:

Operated by the river cruise specialists Croisi Europe, the MS Europe is an elegant standard ship offering 90 cabins spread over three decks The size of each cabin is between 9m2 to 13m2 offering amenities and providing guests with all the comforts they need during their stay. Located on the main deck, the restaurant, where all meals are served during the cruise, offers delicate cuisine in a refined setting, where large windows allow guests to fully enjoy the panorama. On this same deck is also the lounge / bar with a dance floor, while on the sun deck passengers can enjoy comfortable sun loungers, as well as a large shaded area. An ideal place to relax and admire the landscapes. The ship is air conditioned. Sailings can b altered at the discretion of the MS I'Europe's Management and will be conirmed by the Captain.

Your Itinerary:

Our door to door service takes you to the waiting coach for the drive to Dover for the morning sailing to Calais. On through France to Belgium and the historic city of Antwerp where we board our river cruiser. Tonight, we enjoy a Captain’s welcome cocktail reception followed by dinner.

Breakfast on board before our first excursion which is a guided tour of Antwerp. The port city has a history going back to the Middle Ages at its heart is the Grote Markt surrounded by magnificent Flemish buildings. Antwerp is an important diamond centre and houses thousands of diamond traders, cutters and polishers. After lunch on board we sail through small inland seas and immense locks to reach Rotterdam. Tonight we have a Gala evening with 4 course dinner and entertainment.

After breakfast we join the coach for a visit to the beautiful gardens at Keukenhof. After plenty of time to marvel at the wonderful displays of brightly coloured flowers we journey back to Rotterdam to re-join the Europe and take lunch on board. Later the ship cruises to Amsterdam.

A full day starts with a tour of the vibrant and colourful Dutch capital, Amsterdam This famous city began as a small medieval settlement on the river Amstel, the site is still the centre today. The plan of the city is dictated by the four main canals that fan out in semi-circles from the central station and most of the interesting sites lie within the canal rings. After lunch on board we visit picturesque Volendam This small fishing village lies just to the north of Amsterdam and most of the old folk still wear the traditional costumes. Here we have the chance to view the fishing boats as well as visit the many souvenir shops. As no visit to Holland would be complete without a visit to a cheese and clog maker we of course oblige and stop of at an old windmill en-route for a demonstration and tasting. Our return to the ship is well in time for tonight’s final dinner.

A final breakfast on our cruiser before we disembark and retrace the steps of our outward journey to Calais for the mid-afternoon ferry to Dover. We arrive back in our home area early evening after a memorable Dutch waterways cruise
