  • 8 / 10 1,335 reviews | 14,636 travellers Very complete circuit, with good organization and punctuality. There are several guides who accompany you throughout the tour depending on the visits, not all of them are equally good. But in general I am satisfied. 8 Javier
  • Hotel pick up

Cairo, Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Aswan ... on our complete tour we'll see all the unmissable sights in Egypt in 8 days . The best way to really discover the land of the Pharaohs!

Visiting the Karnak temple

Best of Egypt: 8-Day All-Inclusive Tour

On the first day, we'll be waiting for you at the Cairo airport to give you your visa and help you with immigration controls before taking you to your hotel , and eating in a local restaurant in the evening. If your flight arrives after 9 pm, we'll instead furnish you with a cold picnic at the hotel.

After breakfast, we'll visit the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx , where the bravest can see the inside, dodging the ancient booby traps the ancient builders left to deter grave robbers! Then with the visit to Egypt's most famous historical site over, we'll eat a traditional lunch and make our way to Memphis, Egypt's first capital , and to Saqqara, its necropolis  as well as the famous statue of  Ramses II.

Then, after a short rest at the hotel, we'll head to  Old Cairo , to the medieval area where we'll walk its oldest street, explore the  Khan el Khalili market , and eat a typical dinner in the famous and historical Café of Mirrors .

On our third day, we'll visit the most emblematic downtown spots. We'll see the Citadel , explore the Alabaster Mosque , haggle in the Khan el Khalili, pass through the Coptic neighborhood , eat, and marvel at the masterworks of the Egyptian Museum  (entrance to the Mummy's Room is not included). Then in the evening, we'll eat at a local restaurant.

After another strong breakfast, we'll make our way to the airport to take a flight to Luxor , once called Thebes , from where our cruise down the Nile starts. At this fascinating destination, we'll visit the Luxor Temple  - which will perhaps be the most enduring image of our trip - and tour the city center on a horse-drawn carriage . Finally, we'll take you to the hotel where we'll rest until the next day.

Early in the morning, we'll make our way to the Karnak Temple , separated from the Luxor temple by the majestic Avenue of the Sphinxes , nearly 2 miles long and lined with hundreds of human-headed sphinxes.

The tour will then continue, crossing to the East bank of the Nile to see the Valley of the Kings , where the tombs of some of the most famous pharaohs can be found (entrance to Tutankhamun's tomb is an extra € 16 ( US$ 17.10), approximately). And we'll visit the Hatshepsut temple and the enormous Colossi of Memnon .

Then, when we return to the boat, we'll cruise southwards up the river Nile, towards Edfu, enjoying a wander around the floodgates of Esna in the evening .

We begin the day by visiting the Temple of Edfu , dedicated to the god Horus, the sky God. This also happens to be the best-preserved and most spectacular temple in the country . Then, we'll continue our cruise, sailing towards Kom Ombo.

As we arrive, we'll visit the  temple , dedicated to the Gods Sobek and Horus - whose location makes it one of the most beautiful. Then, at the end of the day, we'll continue to sail the River Nile   towards  Aswan .

Note : the visit to Edfu includes transport by buggy. If you prefer to travel by a different means of transport, please let the guide know the day before. Opting for a different mode of transport incurs an additional fee of € 15 ( US$ 16) per person.

The day begins with a bus  trip to the Temples of Abu Simbel , the most famous in all of Egypt, saved from the  rising waters of the Nile  thanks to a coordinated international effort. We'll return to Aswan and, along the way, catch a glimpse of the Aswan Dam, one of the most impressive engineering feats of the 20th century.

Additionally, we'll also visit the Temple of Filae , found on a beautiful island known as the Jewel of the Nile , returning to the cruise ship to eat. Then, after lunch, we'll sail around the region in a  Felucca  (a traditional wooden boat) found along the Nile, arriving back to the cruise ship at 4 pm to spend the night. Of course, you'll have the rest of the evening free to enjoy the area at your own pace before bedtime!

Having eaten breakfast, we'll take you to the Aswan airport, where we'll take the return flight to Cairo . Once there, you're free to move on to your connecting r international flight.

We'll adapt the departure time from Aswan depending on the timing of your flight from Cairo. If it leaves early, we'll leave Aswan earlier and offer you a continental breakfast or something to go. If your Cairo flight is in the evening, we'll offer you breakfast on board the boat before taking you to Aswan to take your flight to Cairo.

The order of the itinerary is indicative and subject to change, but all visits described will take place. Depending on the day of your arrival, you may visit Cairo first and then do the cruise, or vice versa.

What Do I Need?

The only thing you need to make this tour is a roundtrip flight from Cairo , arriving on the day you've reserved and returning on the same day the next week. That means if you arrive on a Monday you should return the next Monday.

Really enjoyed being in a small group instead of a traditional large group and our guide was great. This was a fast, hit-the-high points type of tour which is what we wanted; but, didn't really get to spend too much time at any one place. Didn't care for the hotel we were based out of - the rooms didn't have opaque walls between the bedroom and bathroom, just glass that was partly translucent; and, the hotel was a long ways away from everything.

Queen Cleopatra - 7 days Tour

Queen Cleopatra - 7 days

Absolutely loved this tour! Big shout out to Sohaila & Anas who were both fantastic tour guides. There were a couple of things along the way that could have gone a little better, but they were insignificant in the grand scheme of things. The sites included in the tour are all breath taking and somehow get better and better. I'd highly recommend doing all of the extras, particularly Abu Simbel and the Luxor hot air balloon. Accom was also much better than I had expected and sleeper train wasn't too bad either, surprisingly.

Well recommended.. From the pick up at the airport to the drop off 9 days later everything went as planned. We visited some amazing places. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I strongly recommend you buying a few extra days and then you can do some of the optional tours. A once in a live time experience that I will never forget 😁😁🙏😎

Pharaohs Nile Cruise Adventure - Return Flights Included Tour

Pharaohs Nile Cruise Adventure - Return Flights Included

It was good. In the beginning, we had some issues with the lack of communication in El Cairo. We chose the sleeping train option from El Cairo to Luxor (included in the tour) but we spent 3-4 hours sitting in the train station when we could have done anything else. Also, we didn't know that the train didn't have showers and we were supposed to start the tour day in Luxor as soon as we arrived.... so if you are choosing the sleeping train option consider this, also that you share the bathroom with the people in the same wagon. Once we arrived on the cruise, everything went smoothly. The tour guide always took care of us, gave us tips, and explained everything well. The cruise was overall good, they gave you what you paid for. I do recommend the tour!

Felucca Odyssey (5 & 4 Star Hotels) Tour

Felucca Odyssey (5 & 4 Star Hotels)

Overall an outstanding experience in Egypt. Our guide Adham went above and beyond to look after our group, and spent much of his own time explaining everything Egypt to us. This tour is a lovely blend of a cultural experience whilst still feel safe & having the creature comforts of nice hotels most nights. At no point did I (female traveller) feel unsafe & I would say my experience in Egypt exceeded my expectations. My only critique is the dining experience on the first night was less than desirable (very western feeling buffet packed to the brim with tourists singing the Macarena) but this was redeemed by the entertainment. If similar bellydancing entertainment could be found elsewhere I would encourage travel talk to look at another more authentic venue.

Best Of Egypt - 5* Cruise Tour

Best Of Egypt - 5* Cruise

We just got back from the 10 day Best of Egypt tour and I have to say, it was amazing. Our guide Ray/Remon was absolutely outstanding- he helped us with any and everything we possibly needed, was super knowledgeable, was always available via WhatsApp anytime we weren't with him, and most of all, advised us on tours and activities that would keep us safe and would not end up with us getting scammed, which was very relieving. The tour itself was very rigorous for the first few days, lots of early mornings and lots of bus travel time, but you get to see the majority of the TOP sights in Egypt in a short amount of time, which was important to us as we didn't have more than 10 days of vacation time to spend. The weather was beautiful except for the day we were supposed to take the hot air balloon ride in Luxor, which was a disappointment, but you can't control when it rains! Overall I would highly recommend this trip to anyone and i would DEFINITELY request Ray/Remon to be your guide. He really was the cherry on top of an already incredible trip!

9 Days Nile Jewel (Cairo, Cruise, Hurghada) Superior hotels

The tour was fantastic, covering Cairo, a Nile cruise, and Hurghada. As a beginner diver, Hurghada was the highlight for me. Despite traveling during Ramadan, it was pleasant with fewer crowds at tourist sites. The success of the tour was greatly attributed to the exceptional organization by the entire team, especially Bassem our wonderful tour guide.

I started out pretty nervous but everything promised in the description of our Egypt adventure was delivered. From the TourRadar rep meeting us at the Cairo airport and getting us to the hotel. There was support throughout the 9 days. Our group guide Raemon was excellent. He tended to all the requests and special needs that came up with patience and kindness. Our Egypt experience exceeded our imagination. The schedule is full and sometimes hectic but absolutely worth it.

Highly recommend this one! Our guide Mo was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. We visited some of the most incredible places on earth and added in some of our own adventures while we were at it. Great value for money! Lots of free time is given but we just wanted to see everything and jumped at most of the activities offered. Egypt on a shoestring, a big thumbs up!

The itinerary is great and covers a lot of ground. The restaurant or cafes selected for food were fine and no problems with hygiene. Ahmed is an excellent tour guide. The old concern is the accomodation was ordinary. Even though we were on Original class it wasn’t some hotels are poor. If that will be an issue got the Comfort class.

Queen Cleopatras is a great tour, highly recommended, Anas is a great guide, he explained everything about Egyptian culture and toke care about our group! I will recommend to head office to deliver schedules with the tours to be able to plan our days. Cruse was amazing, service is great and everyone is very friendly! Also there is laundry available at your room! Ruby II is a great option, the room is very nice! I won’t recommend to take the train from Cairo to Aswan, service is great but services are not good (very old and dirty), washrooms very dirty!
Mina was an incredible tour guide - so friendly and knowledgeable. He is such a kind hearted man who made our trip so special.

Best time to visit egypt.

Egypt is blessed with lots of sunshine and very little rain. Generally, the hottest months are June to August, and the coolest month is January. Rainfall is negligible, except on the coast, with rain usually occurring during the winter months (December to March).

During the summer months (from June to August), daily temperatures can reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius) - perfect for snorkeling and soaking up the sun on the beaches of Sinai, but can prove challenging for some in the crowded streets and souqs of Cairo.

Choose to escape the crowds by traveling from March to May or September to November when the weather is milder, and there's the opportunity to experience Egypt during Ramadan and the celebrations of Eid (which marks the breaking of the fast). If you are planning to travel during Ramadan, it's important to consider that many restaurants and shops will either be closed or operating at reduced hours.

Culture and customs

Life in Egypt has been in a state of flux since the 2011 revolution. Many of the issues that motivated so many to take to the streets in protest continue to be points of contention, but Egyptians remain hopeful, relying on religion, family and humor to get them through, like they have for thousands of years. A strong sense of community binds people across the country. Families and communities support each other and there is a prevailing sense that everyone is in it together. For all these reasons, most express great pride in being Egyptian, despite their nation’s recent turmoil.

As a largely Muslim country (about 90% of the population is Muslim while most of the remaining 10% identify as Coptic Christian), Islam permeates daily activities. Life revolves around the five daily prayers and everything is closed on Friday, the Muslim holy day. A wide array of cultural norms, including how people dress and interact with the opposite sex, are influenced by religion. Women are largely defined by their role as a mother and matron of the house, whereas men are expected to be the provider.

Many Egyptians consider their country the gateway between the West and the rest of the Arab world, and take pride in their ability to mix tradition with modern influences. This mixing is most apparent in major cities, such as Cairo and Alexandria, where American fast-food chains can be found next to traditional cafes, secular attitudes are more common, and pop music rings through city streets.

Food and drink

With fragrant spices, fresh fruit and vegetables, and delicious sweets on offer, culinary adventures in Egypt are guaranteed. On many Intrepid trips you'll be given the opportunity to dine with a local family – this offers a great chance to see how meals are prepared and learn more about the ingredients.

Things to try in Egypt

1. Hamam mahshi

A north African delicacy, hamam – roasted pigeon stuffed with cracked wheat and rice – can be found on the menu of most traditional Egyptian restaurants. You may need a few to fill up though, as they don’t contain a lot of meat. And be careful of all the tiny bones.

2. Ta'ameya (falafel)

Crunchy on the outside, and moist on the inside, these deep-fried balls of spiced fava beans are a Middle Eastern vegetarian staple. Usually served in a pita with salad, pickles, and sesame-based tahina - buy it at a street stall for a quick, cheap meal.

Shops specializing in this popular ‘poor man’s dish’ can be found throughout Cairo. A hearty mix of rice, macaroni and lentils, chickpeas, and fried onions, koshary is topped with a tomato-vinegar sauce.

4. Ful medames

Don't leave Egypt without trying the classic dish of ful medames, which can be traced back to pharaonic times. Consisting of slow-cooked fava beans, served with olive oil, parsley, garlic, and lemon juice - add some spice by seasoning with chili paste and eat with bread.

5. Pastries

Delicious, sweet pastries are found in restaurants, markets, and cafes in Egypt. Never was there a better time to live by the adage ‘Life is short, eat dessert first’.

Egypt is a mostly Muslim country, and any consumption of alcohol here is relatively low-key. There are many fantastic alternatives. Juice stands are common on main streets offering freshly squeezed banana, guava, or mango juice. Karkadai is a chilled, crimson drink brewed from hibiscus leaves (served hot in the winter). And tea (or shai) is the beverage of choice for most Egyptians, which is sipped throughout the day and with meals.

Geography and environment

Located in the northeast corner of Africa, Egypt shares its borders with Israel and the Palestinian Territories, Libya, and Sudan, as well as the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Red Sea to the east. The two seas are connected by the man-made Suez Canal.

The remote triangle-shaped peninsula is largely characterized by limestone and desert, but also has a vibrant coral reef along the Red Sea coastline. Hot, dry desert covers most of the country’s terrain, with the Western Desert occupying much of the west, and the Arabian (or Eastern) Desert stretching the length of the eastern coast. These two regions are dissected by the Nile River, which runs the length of the country, emptying into the Mediterranean Sea. The Nile Valley, a narrow fertile band extending from the river, is the country’s only fertile land and where 98% of the population lives.

History and government

Recent history.

Napoleon Bonaparte, the infamous pint-sized French leader, invaded Egypt in 1798, seeking to set up a French colony. However, not long after, the French were repelled, and Egypt became a part of the Ottoman Empire once again.

From 1882, the British Army occupied Egypt to protect the Suez Canal. Muhammad Ali officially ruled from the early 1800s, and his family and successors continued to rule for decades (alongside and during British occupation) until overthrown by a military coup in 1952.

During World War II, Egypt became a crucial element in Britain's defense. The Italian Army tried to advance into Egypt in 1940 but was stopped by the British Army at Mersa Matruh. Egypt continued to serve as a vital base for British troops during World War II and despite the disruption, Egypt's shopkeepers and retail trade benefitted from the thousands of Allied troops staying in Egypt.

In 1953, Egypt was officially declared a republic, and a year later, Colonel Nasser was declared Prime Minister, then President. In 1979, after decades of confrontation with neighboring Israel, the historic Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty was signed. This agreement made Egypt the first Arab country to officially recognize Israel as a country - a significant step in the peace process. More recently, in February 2011, large-scale protests and mass demonstrations resulted in the removal of President Mubarak after decades of autocratic rule.

Early history

Ancient Egypt has been the focus of much fascination, investigation, speculation, and intrigue. It's hard to escape the education system without having studied Ancient Egypt in some way. Drawn in by the mighty pyramids, mysterious hieroglyphics, distinct burial rituals and animal-headed gods - scholars, students, historians, and travelers are all amazed by this civilization which has endured cycles of dynastic rule, invasion, and natural disasters.

Through key archaeological finds, historians have been able to unravel some of the mysteries of this great land. What is known is that the daily life of the average Egyptian usually involved working in agriculture with the waters of the Nile providing fertile ground for planting crops. Egyptians usually lived in modest homes with children and domestic pets. Professions were usually inherited - so if your father was a farmer, then so were you.

While most Egyptians led simple lives, dynasties of Pharaohs led lavish lifestyles, with the most well-known being Ramses II, Hatshepsut, Akhenaten, Tutankhamun, and Cleopatra. Huge monuments, imposing pyramids, golden artifacts, and detailed paintings all hold details about pharaonic rule and succession, as well as commonly held beliefs about religion and the afterlife.

Spanning centuries and full of drama worthy of a soap opera, the epic history of Ancient Egypt is complex and we suggest you read about it before visiting.

Top 10 ancient wonders of Egypt

1. grand designs.

The original grand design - monumental and magnificent - the Pyramids of Giza are an impressive achievement in ancient engineering. Towering above the desert sands and standing proudly for centuries, the first glimpse of these stunning structures will render visitors breathless.

2. Stony enigma

Be captivated by the mysterious aura of the Great Sphinx of Giza. This monolithic mythical beast possesses a lion’s body and a human head - and has sat quietly in the desert sands for eons. Gaze at the Sphinx and try to work out the riddle of its existence.

3. Mighty Nile River

No trip to Egypt is complete without visiting the Nile River - the life force of Egypt that has flowed for centuries. A provider of irrigation, an essential travel route, home to hippos and crocodiles, and now a source of leisure for locals and travelers alike, the Nile is an aquatic link to Egypt’s ancient heritage.

4. Terrific temples

Discover an enormous open-air museum like no other. The awe-inspiring Temples of Karnak are filled with stately statues, immense columns, and gigantic gateways. Explore this intriguing site and be left in no doubt about the brilliance of the ancient Egyptian civilization.

5. Holy mountain

Embark on a trek to the top of Mt Sinai and witness an incredible golden sunrise to remember. A place of worship for many faiths, a pilgrimage to Mt Sinai reveals stunning scenery, an ancient monastery and historic chapels. An iconic highlight of Egypt for believers and non-believers alike, Mt Sinai is not to be missed.

6. Double happiness

Located in the Nile Valley, the unique Temple of Kom Ombo is a ‘double temple’ and a rare archaeological find. Dedicated to two gods, a visit here is a true highlight of an Egyptian escapade. Marvel at the well-preserved wall reliefs, try to decipher the hieroglyphics and honour the craftsmen who created this wonder.

7. Museum magic

Step into a dazzling world of antiquity at the Egyptian Museum. Be amazed by the glittering treasures recovered from King Tutankhamun’s tomb – with jewelry, furniture, chariots and that famous gold funerary mask, this pharaoh was certainly prepared for the afterlife.

8. Roman ruins

The Roman ruins of Kom el-Dikka in Alexandria may not be the biggest, but they are certainly among the best-preserved in Egypt, if not the world. Soak up the atmosphere of the Roman amphitheater and imagine it in all its glory - packed with 800 spectators ready for action.

9. Colossal characters

Near the modern city of Luxor stand the imposing Colossi of Memnon. These massive stone statues of Amenhotep III, while badly damaged, still maintain an unmistakable air of authority. Stand below them and be dwarfed by the scale of these tremendous figures.

10. The ancient heart of Cairo

Wander the cobbled streets of Islamic Cairo and uncover the ancient heart of this chaotic city. Admire mosques, palaces and houses, and peruse the goods on offer at one of the world’s oldest bazaars. Dating back to medieval times, the Khan al-Khalili bazaar is where people have traded goods for centuries.

Souqs – or open-air bazaars – are both the best place to shop in Egypt and attractions in their own right. The biggest and most famous souq is the 500-year-old Khan El Khalili Bazaar in Cairo. Within the maze of narrow streets and laneways lie stalls selling jewelry, glass, copper, spices and artisan goods, along with more standard tourist fare. Quality can vary greatly so spend some time shopping around.

Like many markets around the world, bargaining is the norm, but Egyptians take it to another level. Expect to be offered tea (it can take that long) and for elaborate theatrics from the seller. While bazaars in Cairo tend to sell everything, visit Aswan’s bazaar for spices, incense, and basketwork, and Luxor for cheaply priced alabaster figurines and vases. It's also a good idea to check with your local customs officials to ensure that you are able to bring certain items back into your home country.

Things to buy in Egypt

You’ll often see spices piled high in bazaars. In addition to making a great photo for Instagram, they’re often a good buy as long as you keep a couple of things in mind. Always buy whole spices rather than ground to ensure freshness and skip the ‘saffron’ – it’s actually safflower and tastes like dust.

2. Glassware

Hand-blown Muski glass, recognizable by its air bubbles, comes in brilliant shades of blue and green and purple and has been made in Egypt since medieval times. Be careful with this purchase though as it’s extremely fragile.

3. Cartouche

A kind of nameplate written in hieroglyphics. Most gold or silver shops sell these and many can customize them by engraving your name.

Festivals and events

Eid al-fitr.

After fasting for an entire month, Muslims celebrate the end of Ramadan with Eid al-Fitr, or ‘Feast of Breaking the Fast’. For three days, starting on the first day of the tenth month of the lunar calendar, people celebrate with feasts, family, and festivals. Look for vendors selling kahk cookies (nut-filled cookies covered in powdered sugar) while taking in the festivities, a tasty treat synonymous with Eid for many locals.

Eid al-Adha

Arguably the most important holiday in Egypt, the ‘Feast of Sacrifice’ is not one for vegetarians and vegans. About 70 days after Eid al-Fitr, sheep, and goats are slaughtered (often in the middle of the street) for a mighty feast.

Sham el-Nessim

Each year on March 21st, Egyptians celebrate the coming of spring by spending the day outdoors. Join the locals for this ancient holiday by packing a picnic and heading to a park or public garden.

Abu Simbel Sun Festival

As if the two temples dedicated to Ramses II and Queen Nefertari weren’t impressive enough, they were constructed in such a way that twice a year, the sun’s rays reach its innermost chambers and illuminate three stone gods that reside within, while leaving Ptah (god of the underworld) in the dark. And those days just happen to be Ramses’s birthday (October 21) and coronation (February 21). Coincidence? We think not.

What to wear in Egypt

Summer temperatures can get very high, so light fabrics like linen, cotton and athletic gear made to take the heat are best. If you’re traveling outside of winter, don’t underestimate the cool change that can come in the evenings, especially if you’re spending the night in the desert or on a Nile cruise. Avoid packing anything in white – desert dust will quickly turn those light-colored clothes a not-so-delightful shade of brown.

How will I travel around Egypt?

Where possible, Intrepid uses local transport options and traditional modes of transport - which usually carry less of an environmental impact, support small local operators and are heaps more fun.

Plan for at least 7-10 days to fully experience Egypt. This timeframe allows for exploring iconic sites such as the Pyramids of Giza, the Temples of Luxor, sailing on the Nile and experiencing the bustling streets of Cairo. Longer stays allow for deeper immersion in Egypt's rich history, culture and diverse landscapes.

The best time to visit Egypt is during the cooler months of October to April to avoid the scorching heat of summer. This period offers pleasant weather for exploring archaeological sites, traveling on the Nile and enjoying leisurely outdoor activities, making it ideal for a memorable Egypt experience.

A four-night cruise affords enough time to see the Nile’s major highlights including the temples of Luxor and Abu Simbel, while a more leisurely paced seven-night cruise reveals a wealth of additional less-frequented sites, such as Dra Abu Nag and the magnificent Medinet Habu, built by Ramses III.

Yes, visitors are allowed into select interior chambers of one of Giza’s three most iconic pyramids. The Giza Pyramid Complex (or Giza Necropolis) also comprises some ancillary pyramid complexes and the Great Sphinx of Giza.

Aswan and Abu Simbel are can’t-miss sites in Upper Egypt. Fronting the Nile, Aswan boast a wealth of monumental treasures, including the Philae temple complex, the Temple of Isis and the Temple of Khnum. Located southwest of Aswan, the small Nubian village of Abu Simbel is renowned for its two massive rock-cut temples, both built during the reign of King Ramses II (1200 BC).

Obelisks in Karnak Temple, Luxor.

Egypt is timeless and allows people of every age or era to step back into a world of beauty and fascinating mystery. With headlines telling of amazing discoveries still occurring in our modern era, it makes sense to consider the best Egypt tours for 2024.

As you might imagine, the locations for the finest options in Egyptian tours do not change much, and yet with more and more people deciding to travel to Egypt for a trip through the Land of the Pharaohs, different types of travel itineraries become available. Just consider that you can enjoy various options such as:

  • Nile Cruise Holidays
  • Luxury Egypt Tours
  • Classic Egypt Tours

With so many tour options for Egypt in 2024, you may need a little bit of help in choosing the ideal trip for yourself. Read on to find out more about booking a tour which you will never forget.

Tips for Choosing the Best Places in Egypt

As the title above implies, the options for your Egypt tours in 2024 include things like Sahara Desert safaris, a 5-Star cruise along the Nile, visits into famous ancient tombs, and the opportunity to explore the remains of ancient historical cities. And it is up to you to decide just what your ideal tour would include. Let’s look at a few of your options.

It is safe to say that any trip to Egypt should include a bit of time on the world-famous Nile River. With its natural beauty, its many ancient historical monuments and its vital importance to the people and culture of Egypt, it is the perfect focus or key element in unforgettable Egypt tour in 2024. When you book a Nile cruise holiday , you can take in the best attractions located in:

  • And more…

And although there are a tremendous number of ancient sites along the banks of the Nile, you may want your Egypt tour to emphasize classic destinations. This can mean:

  • City trips in Cairo that include visiting places such as the Egyptian Museum , the famous Khan El Khalili Bazaar
  • Giza and the Great Pyramids
  • Valley of the Kings
  • Abu Simbel Temples

Of course, you can roll both the Nile and classic tours together to enjoy luxurious tours of Egypt that blend land and water travel. These are often tour packages that take in multiple areas of the country, and so luxury Egypt tours could include air travel, train rides, and dahabiya Nile cruises . Destinations could include:

  • The Red Sea Riviera and Sharm el Sheikh
  • Historic spots like Sakkara and its pyramids
  • Luxor and its overload of ancient monuments
  • Aswan and the High Dam, and more

And even if you opt to book a budget tour , you can find yourself setting foot amongst the same famous ancient sites. You might do a great deal of travel by train and pay a visit to the many beloved spots spread out along the length of Egypt. You might also enjoy a tour that focuses specifically on Cairo alone as all or part of your best Egypt tours.

What to Expect From the Best Egypt Tours

The Great Sphinx and Pyramid, Egypt

So, you see that your best Egypt tour options in 2024 range from land-based to cruising tours and spread from points at the southernmost region of Egypt, such as Abu Simbel, Lake Nasser and Aswan, or as far north as Cairo and Alexandria. You can opt to head into the desert or over to the Red Sea. You can combine all of these activities or even just stay in a single area, such as Cairo alone.

Yet, there are also many different activities that you can enjoy during the tour. For example, sailing in a felucca or a dahabeeyah can be part of the experience, and professionally guided land tours are typically part of any visit to Egypt. Walk through the different tombs in the Valley of the Kings or head into the desert on a 4×4 to reach such exotic locations as Bahariya Oasis.

Whether you dream trip in Egypt is about ancient pyramids, temples, tombs, natural wonders, magical bazaars and markets, or whether it is about drifting along the famed Nile River, it is all possible in a single skillfully designed tour.

Tips to Plan Your Dream Trip

If you want the best Egypt tours in 2024 based on your personal dreams and wishes, you need to begin with your list of must-see sights. Here’s how to plan that trip:

  • List the attractions you wish to visit in and near Cairo – Because most travellers arrive in Cairo, you must spend at least a day or two visiting its many sites. Nearby is the Giza Plateau with it legendary pyramids. Just a short drive from Cairo, you will find another cluster of pyramids, known as the Dahshur Pyramids . These include the Black, the Bent and the Step Pyramids. You can even enjoy a trip to the Faiyum Oasis which is just south of Cairo.
  • Consider the Ancient Egyptian sites you might like to see – These are often found along or near the banks of the River Nile, as well as on the many islands dotting its course.
  • Think of the destinations that are not typically part of a tour – Alexandria is a city that could easily be an entire tour on its own, the Red Sea region of Egypt is dotted with lovely resorts and attractions, and the Western Desert is home to historic Oases and many amazing natural wonders
  • Consider if you wish to savour an experience – Do you want to enjoy a 4×4 safari tour into the desert, go camel trekking or sailing on the river or on Lake Nasser? Don’t forget all about excelling dining and shopping!

Sightseeing, Cruises and Safaris – When is the Best Time to Travel?

Remember that you’ll want to travel at a time of the year when the activities you wish to enjoy are comfortable. For example, if you want to enjoy an extended trip into the desert to visit different oases, we would probably advise against travel during the hot months. This is particularly true if you also wish to camp under the stars in the White Desert or Black Desert . Days in the desert can be unbearably hot, while nights can be unbearably cold.

Sightseeing excursions and cruises can essentially be enjoyed all year round. Although the weather during the high season months tends to be cooler and more pleasant than during the low season months, the difference is not unbearable. Also, tourist who travel with us usually get to spend a great deal of time in air-conditioned comfort.

Lastly, the Red Sea coastal region enjoys year-round pleasant weather and temperatures. For the most part, it is only when you intend spend time in the desert that you need to pay close attention to your travel dates.

Single or Multi-Destination Adventure?

One other thing which you need to think about before your book your trip is whether you only want to travel to the Land of the Pharaohs, or do you want to enjoy a multi-destination tour. One of our 6 Best Egypt Tours also includes a trip to Jordan where you will stay for three nights. On the day of your arrival in Jordan, there won’t be any excursions, but there will be a tour on the second and third day. Your first tour will take you to some historical sites and then you will travel to the Dead Sea for an afternoon of leisure.

Your next tour in Jordan will be a half-day tour to the ancient Lost City of Petra. Many people travel to Jordan solely for the sake of being able to see this ancient rock-cut city.

Remember, even if your chosen tour itinerary does not include a tour to Jordan, we can still arrange for a day-trip to Petra if you would like to see this magnificent ancient wonder.

When ready to proceed then simply go here, fill out the form and get help from our professional tour consultants who are standing by to help you create the best Egypt tour possible.

Use these tips to begin planning the best tour of Egypt for 2024. You don’t have to limit yourself to just one adventure, either. We have options that can allow you to finish up with one journey and embark on another! This could even include other sites in the Middle East, such as Jordan or Morocco!

At Egypt Tours Plus , you will find a dizzying array of wonderful packages and choices for tailor-made journeys. With options for trips as brief as four or five days, but as long as 15, you are sure to find the very best Egypt tours packages for your 2024 holiday.

To be able to actually see the places and artifacts that I had read about and studied was truly phenomenal. Our hotels were great, the travel to and from sites was completely taken care of, we never felt unsafe or left to our own devices, and the itinerary was just right. But what made the experience so fab was our two guides - Mahmoud Nour in Luxor/Aswan/Abu Simbel and "Max" in Cairo/Memphis/Saqqara. They taught us history and context as it related to each site we visited and they indulged my myriad questions. They were both so incredibly knowledgeable and my questions were never ignored or unanswered. In addition, they shared their culture with us and treated us to some awesome dining experiences. We were reminded that Egypt is more than just ancient ruins. I would recommend without reservation this tour experience. And "hats off" to Mahmoud and Max!!! The entire experience was smooth from start to finish. Both Mahmoud and Max spoke excellent English, were extremely knowledgeable, and went out of their way to ensure our experience was everything we hoped it would be. This was the second time I have used ETP, and I will continue to recommend them to anyone who expresses any interest in exploring Egypt. We especially liked that our tour group was limited to only our party, which meant we got one-on-one attention at all the sites, and allowed us to get answers to all our questions. And for those of you who are worried about safety or health in Egypt, in our experience it was extremely safe, and we never had any issues related to COVID-19.

Ellen DeGeneres Addresses ‘Getting Kicked Out of Show Business’ on Her New Comedy Tour: ‘It’s Been a Toll on My Ego’

By Krystie Lee Yandoli

Krystie Lee Yandoli

As she strode onto the famed comedy stage of the Largo at the Coronet Theater in the heart of West Hollywood on Wednesday night, Ellen DeGeneres was a woman in command. A sold-out crowd of about 200 fans burst into roaring applause, eager to see the comedian turned talk-show host return to her comedy roots on the first night of her Ellen’s Last Stand…Up Tour . And she didn’t disappoint. Dressed in a simple, black long-sleeved shirt, white pants, and sneakers, DeGeneres addressed the elephant in the room with her first words.

“I used to say that I didn’t care what other people thought of me and I realized…I said that at the height of my popularity,” DeGeneres said, prompting the audience to erupt in laughter. “It is such a waste of time to worry about what other people think…Right now I’m hoping you’re thinking, ‘This is marvelous, I’m so happy to be here.’ But you could be thinking, ‘Let’s see how this goes.’”

The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.

Her Wednesday night set — culled from material DeGeneres said she’s been working on for about six months, including in a handful of performances — kicked off with a recap of what she’s been up to since her talk-show ended: gardening, a lot of sweatpants-wearing, and collecting chickens as pets. She joked that as someone who once hosted a daily show, she appreciates the plight of the chicken who has to lay an egg every day. Still, most of the routine found her grappling with having become Public Enemy No. 1 — a whiplash turn from her once-firm reputation as the happy-go-lucky talk-show host who ended each episode telling her audience to “be kind to one another.”

“What else can I tell you?” she mused, mock-reflecting on her recent past before adding sarcastically, “Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business. There’s no mean people in show business.”

“I didn’t go to business school. I went to Charlie’s Chuckle Hutt,” DeGeneres joked. “The show was called Ellen and everybody was wearing T-shirts that said ‘Ellen’ and there were buildings on the Warner Brothers lot that said ‘Ellen,’ but I don’t know that that meant I should be in charge.”

She chalked up some of the vitriol she faced at the time to sexism, noting that “there are consequences” for not following the pre-existing rules and gender roles. Referencing the cancellation of her eponymous sitcom in the 1990s after she’d announced to the world that she was gay, she added wryly, “For those of you keeping score, this is the second time I’ve been kicked out of show business…Eventually they’re going to kick me out for a third time because I’m mean, old, and gay.”

The demise of her talk show seems especially painful for DeGeneres since, as she described in her set, it had been her way back to being embraced after her Nineties exile. “I’m giving stuff away…and I danced, then I was mean and they didn’t like me again,” she said. “It’s been such a toll on my ego and my self-esteem. There’s such extremes in this business, people either love you and idolize you or they hate you, and those people somehow are louder.”

As a 66-year-old woman, DeGeneres said she’s also grown increasingly aware of the aging process both physically and mentally. She finds herself thinking about existential subjects like time and the universe, and said her doctor recently told her she has osteoporosis and arthritis. Plus, she joked, now she’s at a point in her life where she’s obsessing over Wheel of Fortune .

Bringing up chickens as another metaphor for women and gender roles, DeGeneres made her point with “one last chicken joke,” as she put it. “Why did the chicken cross the road? Because she wanted to and you wouldn’t ask a rooster that.”

At the conclusion of her set, the crowd gave DeGeneres a standing ovation, prompting her to return to the stage for a candid conversation with the audience. DeGeneres called on people one by one as they asked questions and shared messages of gratitude. One same-sex couple said they had gotten married earlier that day and asked for marital advice. (DeGeneres’ wife of 16 years, Portia de Rossi, briefly made an appearance onstage during the Q&A, at fans’ request; DeGeneres explained that the last few years had been very tough on de Rossi as well, saying, “We were both just laying low for a while.”) One woman thanked DeGeneres for her original Netflix comedy special (2018’s Relatable ) because it made her mom laugh when she was diagnosed with cancer. Another woman expressed her thanks to DeGeneres for participating in her autistic daughter’s bat mitzvah. One person who said they’d been inspired by DeGeneres’ positivity asked if she used dancing as a means of escape during her recent tough period.

“No. It’s hard to dance when you’re crying,” DeGeneres replied. “But I am dancing now.”

DeGeneres flashed another moment of sensitivity and bewilderment when a fan asked if her first go-round with public scrutiny after coming out prepared her for the next one, when The Ellen DeGeneres Show collapsed.

“This was a whole different thing,” she replied. “This was like, ‘What is going on?’ It was so hurtful. I couldn’t gain perspective. I couldn’t do anything to make myself understand that it wasn’t personal… I just thought, ‘Well this is not the way I wanted to end my career, but this is the way it’s ending.’”

DeGeneres added that it took her a long time to figure out what she wanted to say on the topic and how she wanted to say it.

Citing the self-help book The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom , DeGeneres explained that she’s made her peace with the fact that everyone has their own reasons for making certain choices and “they have to live with their stuff.”

“I do realize that whatever happens may have nothing to do with me, it’s just somebody else’s stuff,” she said. “So no, I will not [seek revenge].”

Explore Gothic revivalist architecture of the Green-Meldrim House and St John’s Church

St. John's Episcopal Church on Madison Square in Savannah.

May brings warmer weather and a special double tour to Savannah. Tucked into the tree-covered west side of Madison Square is St. John’s Church and the Green-Meldrim House. Both are independently open for tours, but on Wednesdays in May, visitors will be able to get a special tour of both.

The tour will guide people through both Gothic Revivalist buildings with special attention to the unique architectural details, the history, and the symbolism, followed by refreshments of cheese straws, Benne wafer cookies, lemon blueberry poundcake, and pimento cheese sandwiches.

This is a step in a new direction for the Green-Meldrim House. The historic home was purchased by St. John’s Church in 1943, and while it is used as a parish house and rectory, it was eventually opened as a house museum.

Jamie Credle, who is no stranger to Savannah’s historic house museums, having previously worked with the Davenport House, took over as executive director in July of last year. A few months later, the house museum reached nonprofit status, and Sherry Holtzclaw stepped up as president of the Keepers of Historic Green-Meldrim House.

“I'd say [the idea to start the nonprofit] came out of the vestry, which is the group that runs the church,” said Holtzclaw. “Seeing that our volunteer base was shrinking as people were getting older, more young people are working and don't have the time to volunteer, and it's a lot of upkeep to keep this house heated and cooled and in repair, as well as to lead tours, it was just getting to be a big job that we needed some help with.”

Holtzclaw said she has been a member of St. John’s for around 30 years and has volunteered at the house for approximately 20 years in various roles.

Both Holtzclaw and Credle are excited to expand resident and visitor appreciation of the Green-Meldrim House and St. John’s Church as well as what all the historic house museum can offer.

“It's an evolutionary process,” said Credle. “The Keepers have a wealth of understanding of collections and research, but I think that the whole point was to get in lockstep together with what we think the future can be.”

New docents will be leading the tours

After several months of recruiting and training new docents to build upon the core of docents, Credle said it was the perfect time to try a new tour.

“One of our goals for the year is to be open five days a week. We're open four now, but we also wanted to do something imaginative or different than your typical tour. A lot of people would love to see the church, and we've got our docents so this combo tour seemed like filling a need.”

Credle said she hopes the 75-minute tour will leave people with a new appreciation for Madison Square and gothic revival architecture.

“Though it seems sort of old to us, this was cutting-edge architecturally. We talk about mid-century modern in the 20th century. Well, this was mid-century modern in the 19th century. It was a stunning thing to see both this house and the church together, two different architects, two different functions for spaces, but a cutting-edge square here.”

“Plus, they were being built at the same time,” said Holtzclaw. “Charles Green [the original owner of the Green-Meldrim House] knew some of the people that were in on the planning of the church. So there probably was some interaction and collaboration when all this was happening.”

While the house is stunning from its bright pink exterior to the black, white, and wood-grained interior, Holtzclaw said the church is equally impressive.

“One of the first things you notice when you go in the church, besides the architecture and the steep ceiling, is the stained-glass windows and how beautiful they are. They’re very old. They're from 1886 and made in England. They feature prominently in the church. Also, up at the altar, there are some very interesting pieces up there. We'll talk about not only the architecture but some of the symbolism.”

It’s important to note that, for anyone with mobility issues, there is a ramp into the church, but there is no ramp or elevator in the Green-Meldrim House.

For those who fall in love with the tours and want to help in the future, Credle said they are looking for more docents, front-door greeters, and gift shop volunteers. The museum also has a youth guide program.

“We're training teenagers this summer to be tour guides. It’s a wonderful skill. It could be after their daytime job if they have that.”

Anyone interested need only reach out to the museum through its website.

Tours are each Wednesday in May starting on the first and ending on the 29th. There will be two tours each afternoon at 1 and 2:30 p.m. except on May 8th at 2 and 4 p.m. Entry is $25 per person and will need to be purchased prior to the event at GreenMeldrimHouse.org.

More new things are on the way for the Green-Meldrim House. Credle said the museum is also planning for new tours and a lecture series in the fall. It will be interesting to see the evolution of the museum with the Keepers of Historic Green-Meldrim House and the museum’s new executive director at the helm.

PGA Tour Event Disrupted by Alligator Casually Walking Across Tee Box

  • Author: Madison Williams

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is used to having a special four-legged friend show up from time. to time on the course.

The guest, an alligator, halted play at the 17th hole during Thursday's first round. The groups of Bronson Burgoon and Jhonattan Vegas, along with Paul Barjon and Samuel Stevens, had to wait at the tee box for the alligator to cross in front of them before they could tee off. The animal didn't stop them from taking a few practice swings, though.

This isn't the first time an alligator has showed up at the Zurich Classic. The PGA Tour commentators reminded viewers that the tournament was used to a three-legged alligator gracing the course fittingly named "Tripod."

Now on the tee, from New Orleans, Louisiana ... A GATOR 🐊 pic.twitter.com/N8wEJh1pQ1 — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) April 25, 2024

The alligator walked across the tee box without causing any issues with any golfers or fans. But it definitely took its sweet time to walk across.

Both golfing duos ended up paring the 17th hole despite the distraction.

Bad Bunny brought a live horse, an orchestra and Puerto Rican pride to Austin concert

special tour egipto

There was a live horse.

Friday night at the Moody Center, reggaetón idol and fashion trendsetter Bad Bunny switched sides and costumes. Earlier he donned a suit and wig under an L.A. Dodgers cap, then he rocked a tan jacket with frills. In between, a soliloquy about taking the road less traveled via pre-recorded video.

In it, Bunny crossed the dessert on a horse with the self-serious swagger of a cologne ad.

“No one else dares to take this path,” he narrated on-screen in Spanish.

Then, for about 15 seconds, he walked into the arena on a brown horse, gave it a pat, and we never saw it again. For one of the world’s mightiest rock stars, it was the most over-the-top flourish in a night filled with them.

A full orchestra; 20 back-up dancers; a rotating cat walk; 10 to 15 minutes of just posing on said cat walk to breathe in the idol worship while giving back brooding stares; barroom singalongs of sweeping breakup ballads like “un x100to” performed while lounging on top of a grand piano; the audacity to not book an opener; the bravado to leave out song of the summer 2022, “Callaita,” which was in a beer commercial, from the set list. And like Leo Messi, the rock star born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio never bothered to address his adoring English-speaking public in anything other than his native Spanish.

He’d ask where all the Latinas in Austin, Texas were at to get screams, sure, but also offer affirmations about identity and self-actualization.

“What we can’t control is what people will say about us,” he’d say, later shouting out how special it was to see Puerto Rican flags from fans. (I counted more than 10 large ones stretched out by patrons, including a giant flag draped over the mezzanine wall like a soccer match.) In his pep talk, Bad Bunny was alluding to being a tabloid regular—he split with Kendall Jenner in December—but also seemingly shouting out what it’s like to be a Latinx person in the U.S.

And the Spanish-first community was proudly about town. Selling $10 cowboy hats; enjoying hot dogs with a million toppings, fresh off a street griddle; even third- and fourth-generation Texans seemed excited to tap into the fashion and swagger of Mexican uncles at a child’s birthday party on Bad Bunny night.

You forget that Bad Bunny is an idea and lifestyle, too. Locally, dance clubs like Mala Vida are molded in his neon image. In South Austin, the same operating group’s Gabrielas restaurant has a permanent Bad Bunny throne that diners can snap photos on. He’s emboldened the community with a zest for gender-neutral brightness so undeniably appealing that Mark Zuckerberg is now wearing gold chains and letting his curls flex.

Between bangers at the Moody, he told us to seek out “people who love you and support you.” The dude projects a lot, defiantly adding banter like “people tell me things every day, but I’m sure of who I am.”

More from the Statesman: In Montopolis, a constant battle to preserve Austin's historic Mexican cemeteries

Were his gradient lights hypnotic? Was the cowboy boot necklace we all got at the door, that synced to the lightshow Coldplay and Taylor Swift-style, a lovely souvenir? Were his vocals muffled and mixed to overpowering degrees so that at times you heard him echo twice as loud as the accompanying beat? Absolutely and of course.

Structurally, this Most Wanted Tour is a celebration of October’s “Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va Pasar Mañana” record, a more somber and rap-centric offering relative to 2022’s relentlessly romantic party masterpiece “Un Verano Sin Ti.” The former is almost a Rick Ross album, rich with thumping beats and strings—mood music for the bosses that makes you want to put a bib on and eat crab.

And so the show began with 10 uncompromising new songs, then revved into a string of party barge standards post-horse: “Yo Perreo Sola,” “La Santa,” “Me Porto Bonito.” Illuminate your reality and proudly let the dog out—he couldn’t be any clearer.
