Short flight so not much to rate. Surprised I had to pay for a soda.

the room on the plane was good but that is because flight not sold the other three seat and I had room. the food in terrible.

First the price I paid was excellent, my flight was full, but my seat was roomy. The one downside to the experience was they had games on the entertainment console. The guy behind me poked at my head about half the flight. I hope they get rid of this feature.

Very good need to offer better choice of food for business

They should. Heck planes more often not when they are suppose to be leaving causing delays

Crew was fantastic got lovely food and plenty of water. Entertainment was good. Never had to ask for anything. Left on time and got to Seattle early. Luggage did not take long either.

Always find Aer Lingus reliable and good value for money. Food on this flight was pretty basic and the headphone Jack at my seat only worked for one ear. Little disappointed in movie selection, limited on recent releases. Staff are okay - but I always buy a cheap ticket so not like I expect first class opulence anyway!!!

Boarding was so quick, flight was ahead of time which is great and the pilot spoke clearly and was letting people know everything, amazing, love travelling with you 😊

Great hospitality and service! Seats could always be cushioned better.

Excellent long haul experience really enjoyed using Dublin pre-immigration

Due to long security check and no last call announcements from Gate staff, my family and 12 other passengers missed the flight.

Perfect timing, perfect departure, lovely crew on the ground and in the air.

Good flight. Take off a little late but make up the time

Everything’s went straight forward, no issues, good service and friendly crew

Left on time and arrived on time both ways, thank you

Ryanair is the worst airline in Europe and easily one of the worst in the planet

The flight was 45 mins delayed but the crew provided water and necessities like tissues

Cheap flights as you expect with Ryanair. I would take cheaper flights over entertainment and comfort for short haul travel. Main issue is usually delays at airports. In this case we landed roughly 2hr30 later than planned due to earlier delays with the plane. Not the worst I imagine

While this flight from Dublin to Venice boarded on time, its departure was delayed by about an hour because, apparently, there were no demonstration kits on board, and we couldn't depart until the safety demonstration was completed. We were informed that we were in danger of losing our delayed slot if Ryanair engineering didn't provide the kits 'soon', which would have resulted in an additional two-hour delay. Thankfully, we didn't incur that additional delay. It's not clear where the source of this problem lies but it needs to be addressed to ensure it does not recur for other flights in the future.

We each paid for 10kg checked in luggage. Flying out there were no issues sharing one case (20kg). Not so coming back. Additional £48 charge and unable to provide an explanation of why it was ok on one journey but not the other, or indeed what material difference it makes between 2x10kg cases vs 1x20kg case. Scam, and appalling from Ryanair.

Best time for travel exploring scotland & ireland.

While just about any month is great to visit Scotland and Ireland, there are a few prime times of the year for the Exploring Scotland & Ireland tour. Here are some recommendations from our destination experts.

Spring: Springtime is a wonderful time to visit the region! The countryside comes alive with flowers and shades of green, and the days of sunlight are growing just a bit longer, giving you more time to explore.

Summer: August is the perfect time to visit Edinburgh, as the Military Tattoo and Edinburgh Festival both take place then. It’s crowded, but the city is alive with many cultural events. And generally, it’s good weather (fingers crossed for not too much rain!).

Fall: Daylight hours grow shorter, and the weather is not quite as hospitable as summer, but the changing colors of the landscape are truly lovely. Fewer crowds make it easier to navigate sites and take your time to enjoy them.

TUI Airways to start flying tourists from Dublin, Ireland, to Melbourne airport next year

travel from dublin ireland to glasgow scotland

TUI Airways is adding the Republic of Ireland's capital to its roster of European cities that offer tourist flights to Melbourne Orlando International Airport for Central Florida vacations.

"It was confirmed last night from TUI that next year, in 2025, we're going to start flying to Dublin, Ireland," Greg Donovan, airport executive director, said during the April 24 Melbourne Airport Authority meeting.

Further information on TUI's Dublin-to-Melbourne flights remains pending, airport spokesperson Keely Leggett said.

"While MLB is thrilled with the addition of Dublin service, we have not yet received flight schedules for next season, so we are unable to confirm schedule details at this time," Leggett said.

This is TUI's third holiday season operating at the Melbourne airport. The international travel giant flies U.K. travelers to U.S. destinations aboard Boeing 787 Dreamliners via vacation packages. Of note: The airline does not offer tickets for Melbourne passengers to fly to Europe.

Dublin will join TUI's Melbourne service list of English cities Birmingham, London-Gatwick, Manchester and Newcastle, along with Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Glasgow, Scotland. The bulk of these travelers spend at least part of their Florida vacations in the Orlando area , rather than the Space Coast.

TUI accounts for the vast majority of the Melbourne airport's international air service, save periodic international general aviation flights, Leggett said. Last year, the airport hosted incoming and outgoing 498,910 domestic passengers, along with 231,472 inbound and outbound international passengers.

Those groups comprised nearly all of the airport's 2023 total of 747,691 inbound and outbound passengers. That narrowly missed Melbourne's all-time annual record of 755,723 total passengers in 1990.

Total incoming and departing passengers at the Melbourne airport increased 8.2% during the first quarter of this year. Passenger counts reached 145,119 from Jan. 1 to March 30, up from 134,110 during the same span last year.

TUI kicked off its third season in Melbourne by resuming transatlantic flights on March 18. Seasonal flights will continue through Oct. 26.

"TUI's flight frequency? It started pretty conservatively this year, just like it has the other two years. I think we were at about six flights per week. It ramps up. It ramps up to 12 flights a week, starting May 2," Cliff Graham, director of operations and maintenance, said during the MAA meeting.

"Basically, we'll two TUI flights per day every single day here, except for Wednesday and Friday, starting in May running through October. And those flights are in the afternoon, kind of in a block. And on average, they're about an hour apart," Graham said.

Meanwhile, MLB's aging Taxiway A — or Alpha — is deteriorating and needs to be strengthened to endure the weight of TUI's Boeing 787 Dreamliners, MAA agenda records show. Airport officials have spent $164,891 repairing Taxiway A to keep it operational until an estimated multi-year, $28 million high-priority reconstruction project kicks off later this year.

David Perley, director of capital improvements, said the MAA may review construction bids by the end of June for tentative approval. Federal Aviation Administration grants may cover 90% of the cost, with the state picking up another 5%.

"Taxiway A has been part of MLB since it became a municipal airport in 1967. It was extended to its current length during NASA’s shuttle program when the airport served as a backup landing site. Taxiway A was last resurfaced in 2009," Leggett said in an email.

"Like roadways, taxiways require asphalt rehabilitation every 12 to 15 years due to wear from use and the elements. This rehabilitation project was necessitated by the current pavement condition index of the taxiway and will also incorporate lighting and signage enhancements, new pavement markings, drainage and stormwater improvements, and new paved shoulders will be constructed to better meet the needs of the larger, wide body aircraft currently operating at MLB," she said.

Billy Connolly walking with a camera filming him in the film Big Banana Feet

Billy Connolly: Big Banana Feet review – proto-punk star comic at his 70s peak

Restored 1976 doc of Connolly’s tour of Ireland shows that, despite his bombastic stage presence, he is impeccably polite. But his naughtier material hasn’t aged well

H ere is a 70s time capsule as pungent as a brimming pub ashtray. Restored and rereleased, Big Banana Feet is the 1976 documentary about Billy Connolly’s live shows in Dublin and Belfast the year before, just after his appearance on the BBC’s Parkinson show made him a star virtually overnight, and allowed his legions of new fans to hear him live and unexpurgated.

Billy and his hangdog entourage – all looking like a very downbeat version of the Bay City Rollers – travel to Dublin then to Belfast by private plane, but aside from that, everything looks very non-luxury. The backstage areas have the air of a scout hut, and there don’t seem to be any riders with Jack Daniel’s, cocaine, only-green-coloured M&Ms, and the like – Connolly gets a pot of tea backstage so stewed it has to be poured like treacle.

The press gets an enormous amount of almost unmediated access to him, including a meet and greet before the show – despite his plaintive requests that this shouldn’t happen – and afterwards too. And the morning after his first big night at Dublin, he is prevailed upon to get up early for a radio show; he does it all with absolute politeness. The nearest Connolly gets to being annoyed in the entire film is when he realises his support act is playing a banjo, thus rather upstaging the bluegrass part of his own set.

Frankly, a lot of Connolly’s naughty material hasn’t aged very well and he got away with quite a lot of dross, perhaps because adult comedy was not a saturated mainstream market in those days. People were more used to the daring satire of Dave Allen, and in comparison Connolly was an innovator. Connolly certainly was proto-alternative and proto-punk, and these were febrile times. At the Dublin show, a heckler shouts “IRA!” and Connolly replies acidly: “I’d love to hear you say that at Ibrox [Rangers’ stadium in Glasgow] …!” It’s amazing, from this modern perspective, to experience again how sectarianism was a violent and normalised fact of life in the 70s.

In Belfast, Connolly prudently drops any material about the Troubles, perhaps because he simply and understandably doesn’t want to take the risk. When he arrives at Belfast airport, Connolly chats amiably to soldiers from 15th Battalion of the Parachute Regiment, which he was once with as a Terrritorial Army reserve, and we hear his melancholy song about this on stage, Weekend Soldier‚ easily the best part of his show.

It is what Connolly says offstage that is now amusing, rather than his actual act. When he and his crew are at the airport, a voice over the tannoy requests a “Mr Jamaica”; Connolly ponders that it feels like a Mr Universe candidate is being paged. “And then a white skinny guy gets up!” He also explains how someone made his famous banana boots and this man said to him: “They’re not identical … but then bananas never are.” For a second, Connolly’s material sounds like Alan Bennett’s.
