Enjoy the Olifants river and ultimate tranquillity like you have never experienced before!

Max and Maris van Waasdijk realized their dream of owning and managing a lodge. Paradise River lodge is located on the banks of the mighty and ever-flowing Olifants River. This makes it the perfect place to relax and get away from the daily grid! enjoy a delicious cold drink along the river or take a refreshing dip in the beautiful swimming pool.

The lodge has a total of 6 bedrooms: 3 chalets with 2 bedrooms each, able to accommodate 12 guests. One of the chalets has his own kitchen and the rooms are connected making it ideal for families. There are serveral braai areas, enabling guests to end their day beside a boma fire or with a braai in privacy, while the Thick-tailed Bushbabies jump through the trees. The lodge offers self-catering, but also possible to book including braai, potjie and/or brerakfast.

We are located in Ndlovumzi Nature Reserve, which is not a big 5 area. This is ideal for a nice early morning walk or run without the dangers. It is also possible to enjoy the flora and fauna in the area by means of a game drive or bush walk. Max is an excellent guide, who specializes mainly in birdlife. Maris has left the nursing proffession begind to ensure that the guests have everything they need. Everyone is personally welcomed on arrival with a complimentary bottle of our delicious house wine.

Our colourful, traditional Ndebele rondavels are spaced out amid shady trees, and offer our guests’ en-suite, comfortable and clean accommodation in a truly African ambience.

Our 42 rooms, accommodating up to 90 guests and lodge facilities are well equipped for large groups, independent travellers, and special occasions such as corporate functions, conferences and weddings.

The best times to visit for those looking for unforgettable safari tours is between April and September, South Africa’s winter months. During this time the temperature cools, and the dryness of the air means the bush is more open, making it easier to spot game of all types.

We offer  accommodation near the Kruger National Park , just 20 minutes outside of the Orpen Gate, an area of the park that is lush with vegetation and a reputation for wild lion sightings.

Johannesburg & Pretoria: From Johannesburg and Pretoria, it takes approximately 5 hours to reach the Orpen Gate and other  Kruger National Park Safari Lodges  in the area, via the N4. Nelspruit: It takes just 2 hours to reach the Orpen gate from Nelspruit, travelling on the R40 via Hazyview.

Firstly, we'll handle everything including your lodging, flights and transfers! Ngala Safari Lodge is closest to Hoedspruit Airport (HDS).  There are daily flights from Johannesburg (JNB) and Cape Town (CPT) to HDS. Once guests arrive at HDS, a 1.5hr road-transfer will have them at the lodge.

Zuid-Afrika is een fantastisch land voor een afwisselende rondreis. Een aantal dagen safari zal bij de meeste rondreizen een hoogtepunt vormen. Als je van luxe verblijven houdt, dan heb je hier een ruime keuze aan mogelijkheden. In deze blog zet ik dan ook acht luxe safari lodges in Zuid-Afrika voor je op een rij.

Sinds mijn partner en ik in 2015 voor het eerst in Zuid-Afrika zijn geweest, is het hek van de dam. We werden verliefd op het land en konden niet wachten om meer te zien. Die verliefdheid is niet beperkt gebleven tot Zuid-Afrika. Ondertussen hebben we al meer landen op dit prachtige continent bezocht. De ultieme manier om helemaal tot rust te komen en om te genieten in de natuur is voor ons een verblijf in een luxe safari lodge in een mooi safarigebied. In deze blog zet ik acht mooie, luxe safari lodges in Zuid-Afrika voor je op een rij.

1. kirkman’s kamp in sabi sands game reserve.

Op nummer een van deze lijst met luxe safari lodges in Zuid-Afrika zet ik Kirkman’s Kamp in het Sabi Sands Game Reserve. Kirkman’s Kamp is onderdeel van de &Beyond keten en staat garant voor een luxe safaribeleving. Het kamp is ‘unfenced’ en mooi gelegen op de rand van een heuvel. Hierdoor biedt de lodge een mooi uitzicht over het reservaat. De lodge heeft een rijke historie en geeft aan gasten een fantastische safaribeleving. In deze lodge ga je letterlijk terug in de tijd. De lodge straalt een klassieke, koloniale sfeer uit van een originele hoeve uit 1920. Er zijn twaalf cottages, die allemaal een prachtig uitzicht bieden over het ongerepte landschap rondom de Sabi rivier. De cottages hebben een luxueuze, klassieke uitstraling, maar zijn voorzien van alle moderne comfort. Je verblijft hier op fully inclusive basis. Dat betekent een verblijf inclusief ontbijt, lunch, diner, snacks, lokale drankjes en twee game drives per dag. De game drives vinden vroeg in de ochtend plaats en laat in de namiddag. Op deze tijden zijn of worden de dieren veelal actief en heb je de beste kansen om ze in actie te zien.

• Sabi Sands Game Reserve

Het Sabi Sands Game Reserve is het oudste privé wildpark in Zuid-Afrika. Het is een Big 5-gebied en daarnaast heb je hier kans om de zeldzame wilde honden te zien. Het game reserve beschikt over de beste lodges van Zuid-Afrika. Je ervaart hier dus dé ultieme safaribeleving. Het Sabi Sands Game Reserve bevindt zich aan de zuidwestelijke kant van het Kruger Nationaal Park en heeft een oppervlakte van maar liefst 65.000 hectare. Er zijn geen hekken tussen Sabi Sands en het Kruger National Park, waardoor de dieren vrij kunnen rondlopen tussen beide gebieden. Een private game reserve is in het bezit van particuliere grondeigenaren. Hierdoor gelden er in een private game reserve andere regels dan in een nationaal park. Het grote verschil tussen het nationale park en het privé wildpark is dat je in het privé wildpark niet zelf mag rijden. Alleen mensen die een verblijf in een van de lodges hebben geboekt, krijgen toegang tot het wildpark. Dagjesmensen zijn dus niet toegestaan.

2. Kings Camp in Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

De volgende luxe safari lodge in Zuid-Afrika is Kings Camp en bevindt zich in het Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. Kings Camp bestaat uit twee delen. Je hebt de centrale lodge met 8 suites, perfect als je met zijn tweetjes reist. Alle 8 de suites hebben een eigen zwembadje en een buitenterras. Daarnaast heeft Kings Camp de beschikking over een familiekamer. De kamers en het hoofdgebouw van Kings Camp kijken uit over de savanne met een waterpunt waar dieren met grote regelmaat te vinden zijn om te drinken. Sinds een tijdje is er bij Kings Camp ook een ondergrondse schuilplek, die uitzicht biedt op de waterplaats. Dit is de perfecte plek om wild van dichtbij te kunnen zien en te fotograferen.

Op ongeveer een kilometer afstand van de centrale lodge bevindt zich de privé gelegen Waterbuck villa. Een grote villa met drie slaapkamers en nog een tuinkamer voor twee personen, speciaal voor grotere gezelschappen. Je wordt hier van alle gemakken voorzien en door al het personeel enorm in de watten gelegd. In beide delen van de lodge verblijf je op fully inclusive basis en je gaat twee maal per dag op gamedrive.

• Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

Het Timbavati Private Nature Reserve is onderdeel van het Greater Kruger Nationaal Park. Het Kruger Nationaal Park heeft een oppervlakte van 2,2 miljoen hectare. Er zijn geen hekken tussen het Kruger Nationaal Park en Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, waardoor de dieren vrij kunnen rondlopen in zowel het nationale park als in het privépark. Timbavati Private Nature Reserve heeft een oppervlakte van ruim 53.000 hectare. Je kunt hier veel verschillende dieren tegenkomen, waaronder de Big 5 en ook wilde honden worden hier gezien.

3. Sindile Lodge in Shamwari Private Game Reserve

Shamwari Private Game Reserve is gelegen in de Oostkaap, op ongeveer een uur (75 km) rijden van de plaats Port Elizabeth. Het reservaat telt zeven lodges. De Sindile Lodge is de nieuwste luxueuze lodge in het wildreservaat. Sindile lodge heeft negen ultraluxe vrijstaande tenten. Alle tenten zijn hoger gelegen en bieden hierdoor een fantastisch uitzicht over de savanne en de Bushman’s rivier.  

Elke tent heeft een buitenplaats met eigen zwembad en terras. De tenten zijn ruim opgezet en zijn van alle gemakken voorzien. Ook het restaurant en de bar bieden een prachtig uitzicht over de omgeving.

Shamwari Private Game Reserve

Shamwari Private Game Reserve heeft een oppervlakte van 25.000 hectare. Vroeger was dit een landbouw en veeteelt gebied. Nu wordt er alles aan gedaan om het ecosysteem weer te herstellen, zoals het van oorsprong was en ook het behoort te zijn.

Wat ook bijzonder is aan Shamwari Private Game Reserve is dat het reservaat een ‘Wildlife Rehabilitation Center’ heeft. Dieren, die ziek, gewond of verlaten zijn, worden hier opgevangen en door een capabel team van dierenartsen en –verzorgers verzorgd. Zodra de dieren er klaar voor zijn, worden ze weer vrijgelaten in hun natuurlijke omgeving.  Naast het rehabilitatie centrum beschikt Shamwari ook over een opvang voor katachtigen: de Born Free Big Cat Sanctuary. Katachtigen die waar dan ook ter wereld werden uitgebuit en onder slechte omstandigheden gevangen werden gehouden, worden hier opgevangen. Deze dieren kunnen in het wild niet meer overleven. In Shamwari hebben ze de beschikking over een afgezet terrein, met voldoende ruimte, waar ze op een diervriendelijke en zo natuurlijk mogelijke manier kunnen leven.  Gasten die in een van de lodges in Shamwari verblijven, kunnen in zowel in het rehabilitatiecentrum als in het centrum voor katachtigen een kijkje nemen.

4. Mhondhoro Safari Lodge & Villa in Welgevonden Game Reserve

De volgende lodge in deze rij van luxe safari lodges in Zuid-Afrika is de Mhondoro safari lodge is een luxueuze vijfsterren privé safari lodge. Bijzonder in deze safari lodge is de ondergrondse tunnel, die vanuit het hoofdgebouw van de lodge naar het waterpunt leidt. Dag en nacht komen dieren hier naartoe om te drinken. Als gast van de lodge kun je hier fantastische foto’s maken en de dieren van ‘onderaf’ bewonderen. De Mhondhoro Safari Lodge heeft zes suites en een privévilla voor zes personen. De sfeer in de lodge is zeer ontspannen en alles hier straalt rust uit.

Welgevonden Game Reserve

Welgevonden Game Reserve bevindt zich in de provincie Limpopo. Het reservaat hanteert een strikt beleid wat betreft het aantal voertuigen, dat er mag rijden. Hierdoor behoudt het reservaat exclusiviteit en een rustig karakter.  Als je zelf met de (huur)auto naar Welgevonden rijdt, dan dien je de auto bij de hoofdingang van het wildreservaat te parkeren. Je wordt hier opgehaald door een gids, die je met het safarivoertuig in ongeveer een uurtje naar de Mhondoro Lodge brengt.  Het wildreservaat ligt op ongeveer 3 uur (280 km) rijden van Johannesburg.

5. Etali Safari Lodge in Madikwe Game Reserve

Als volgende in de rij luxe safari lodges in Zuid-Afrika komt de Etali Safari Lodge , gelegen in Madikwe Game Reserve. Madikwe is een wildreservaat met verschillende luxe en ultraluxe game lodges. Een voorbeeld van een ultraluxe game lodge is Etali Safari Lodge. Het verblijf heeft acht luxe suites, elk voorzien van eigen zwembadje. De kamers zijn ruim opgezet en kijken uit over de savanne. Een aantal kamers heeft daarnaast ook zicht op een waterpunt, waar dieren dagelijks naartoe komen om te drinken.

Andere overnachtingsmogelijkheden in Madikwe Game Reserve

• Madikwe Game Reserve

Madikwe Game Reserve ligt in het noorden van Zuid-Afrika aan de grens met Botwana. Vanaf Johannesburg rij je ongeveer 4,5 uur (340 km) naar Madikwe. Het reservaat heeft een oppervlakte van 75.000 hectare. Het wildreservaat bestaat pas sinds 1991. Voor die tijd werd het land gebruikt om vee op te houden. De omstandigheden van de natuur zijn in Madikwe beetje bij beetje hersteld en zijn nu zeer geschikt voor een grote variëteit aan wild. Je kunt hier de Big 5 spotten en ook de zeldzame wilde honden worden hier gezien. Madikwe wordt niet zo druk bezocht als veel andere wildparken. Dat maakt de safaribeleving in dit gebied heel ontspannen en exclusief.

6. Great Fish River Lodge in Kwandwe Private Game Reserve

De volgende accommodatie in de lijst van luxe safari lodges in Zuid-Afrika is de Great Fish River Lodge in het prestigieuze Kwandwe Private Game Reserve in de Oostkaap van Zuid-Afrika. Naar Port Elizabeth rij je een kleine twee uur (156 km).

De Great Fish River Lodge is vernoemd naar de gelijknamige rivier. De accommodatie bevindt zich iets verhoogd aan de oever van de rivier en biedt uitzicht over het water. De accommodatie beschikt over negen suites. Alle suites hebben een eigen zwembadje. Bij aankomst parkeer je de auto bij de algemene receptie van Kwandwe Game Reserve. Je wordt hier ontvangen met een hapje en een drankje en na het invullen van het benodigde papierwerk komt de gids je met het open safarivoertuig ophalen en neemt je mee naar de Fish River Lodge.

Slechts twee overnachtingsmogelijkheden in Kwandwe Game Reserve: Great Fish River Lodge en Kwandwe Ecca Lodge

Kwandwe Private Game Reserve

Er kunnen in het Kwandwe Game Reserve slechts 52 gasten verblijven in twee verschillende lodges en drie privevilla’s. Het reservaat heeft een oppervlakte van 22.000 hectare. De Great Fish rivier stroomt dwars door het park. Kwandwe Private Game Reserve bestaat pas sinds 1998. Het land waarop Kwandwe zich nu bevindt heeft echter een rijke geschiedenis en lang geleden was dit gebied al een thuis voor veel verschillende wildsoorten. Net als in veel andere wildreservaten, werd er op de wilde dieren gejaagd en werden ze verdreven, zodat de mensen het land konden gebruiken om boerderijen te bouwen en vee te laten grazen. Het gebied wordt steeds verder in de oude staat hersteld en de missie in dit wildreservaat is om de populatie wilde dieren in de toekomst verder uit te breiden.

7. Gorah Elephant Camp in Addo Elephant National Park

Addo Elephant National Park staat, zoals de naam al aangeeft, bekend om zijn hoge populatie olifanten. Addo is een nationaal Park, maar ook hier kun je in een privéconcessie verblijven. Gorah Elephant Camp ligt namelijk in de enige privéconcessie van het park. Om bij Gorah Elephant Camp te komen, rij je zelf door het nationale park tot aan de Gorah Gate. Daarna volgt er een steile weg omhoog naar de lodge. Als het geregend heeft en de steile weg omhoog minder goed begaanbaar is, kun je de auto beneden aan de gate laten staan. De gids komt je dan met de 4×4 Landcruiser op halen. In Gorah Elephant Camp heeft de tijd stilgestaan. De koloniale sfeer van de lodge brengt je terug in de tijd van vroeger. Gorah Elephant Camp heeft elf tenten. Alle tenten hebben uitzicht over een open veld, waar de olifanten voorbij kunnen lopen. Vanaf je terras kun je hier al heel wat bewegingen volgen. Het hoofdgebouw van de lodge beschikt over verschillende terrassen van waar je zicht hebt op de waterplaats. Hoe mooi is het om tijdens het ontbijt, de lunch of een heerlijk drankje te kunnen uitkijken op dorstige olifanten…

Andere accommodaties bij Addo Elephant Park

Addo Elephant Park

De privéconcessie waarin Gorah Elephant Camp zich bevindt heeft een oppervlakte van 5000 hectare. Addo Elephant Park ligt in de Oostkaap en bevindt zich op slechts 70 kilometer ten noordoosten van de plaats Port Elizabeth. Als je hier op gamedrive gaat, dan rij je zowel door de privéconcessie, als door het nationale park. In de privé delen kom je geen andere voertuigen tegen. In het nationale park rijden ook andere toeristen met hun eigen voertuig. In het nationale park rij je over aangelegde gravelwegen. In de privéconcessie rij je over kleinere en smallere zandwegen. Naast de meer dan 450 olifanten, hebben de rangers ook bijzonder veel oog voor de Circellium Bacchus, een unieke zwarte mestkever, die niet kan vliegen en bijna alleen in Addo Elephant National Park voorkomt.

8. Tschukudu Bush Lodge in Pilanesberg National Park

De laatste luxe safari lodge in Zuid-Afrika in dit rijtje bevindt zich ook in een nationaal park. De Tschukudu Bush Lodge in Pilanesberg Nationaal Park. Deze lodge is dus gelegen in een stukje privéconcessie in het Pilanesberg Nationaal Park. De gamedrives vinden grotendeels plaats op de wegen, waar andere toeristen ook zelf met hun auto’s mogen rijden. Ondanks, dat het dan wel eens druk kan zijn, hebben we zelf tijdens ons verblijf hier veel mooie dingen kunnen zien. Daarnaast wist onze gids precies hoe ze zich moest positioneren, om het juiste zicht te hebben. De Tschukudu Bush Lodge beschikt over tien kamers. Er zijn zes luxe kamers en vier luxe suites. Alle kamers hebben een open haard, een terras en een badkamer met bad en uitzicht over de savanne. De suites hebben daarnaast een extra zitgedeelte en een eigen zwembadje op het terras. De Lodge is niet zeer geschikt voor mensen die slecht ter been zijn. De suites bevinden zich namelijk op een berg. Om bij het hoofdgebouw en de suites te komen, moeten er trappen worden gelopen.

Andere mogelijkheden in Pilanesberg Nationaal Park

Pilanesberg Nationaal Park

Pilanesberg Nationaal Park bevindt zich op ruim twee uur (220 km) rijden ten noorden van Johannesburg. Net buiten de parkgrenzen van Pilanesberg vind je de Bakubung Lodge. Hier parkeer je de auto. Vervolgens word je opgehaald door de gids van de Tschukudu Bush Lodge en word je naar de lodge gebracht. De lodge bevindt zich dus op een stukje privéterrein midden in het nationale park. Pilanes Berg Nationaal Park heeft een oppervlakte van 55.000 hectare. Het nationale park bevindt zich rondom de Pilanesberg, een dode vulkaan waarnaar het park is vernoemd. Het landschap is heuvelachtig en midden in het nationale park bevindt zich de Mankwe dam. Een plaats waar veel dieren komen om te drinken. Er is hier een deel afgezet en er is een uitkijkhut gemaakt, zodat je als toerist je voertuig kunt verlaten en bij het water kunt kijken naar de dieren. Er zijn meerder waterplaatsen in het nationa;e prk. Met een beetje geluk kun je zien hoe de olifanten in het water baden!

Maar…

Als je bovenstaande informatie over de luxe safari lodges in Zuid-Afrika leest en de foto’s bekijkt, dan kun je daar eigenlijk alleen maar een goed gevoel bij krijgen. Toch heeft dit alles ook een keerzijde en wil ik ook de mindere kant voor de wildparken hier belichten. Elke dag zijn er namelijk in alle parken, of dat nu privéparken zijn of nationale parken, achter de schermen veel mensen onderweg om de dieren veilig te houden. Vooral het stropen van neushoorns is tegenwoordig een enorm probleem. Dag en nacht zijn er Anti-Poaching-Units in de bush om deze bijzondere dieren te beschermen. Ze worden gestroopt vanwege hun hoorn. De hoorn levert veel geld op, omdat hij een medicinale werking zou hebben. Dit is echter onzin, want de hoorn bestaat uit keratine, hetzelfde materiaal als onze nagels. 

Het is natuurlijk fantastisch om een neushoorn in het echt te zien. Helemaal bijzonder is het om het dier te fotograferen. We built Jabulani on the foundation of rescuing and reintroducing orphaned elephants to new herds. This can be tricky, as elephants decide whether they accept a new elephant to their herd. However, over the past 20 years, we’ve successfully reintroduced orphaned elephants into new herds.

Everything we do and build is centred around leaving a light ecological footprint and making a difference. This includes our eco-friendly lodge design, bana grass plantation project, elephant dung eco-projects, water conservation, recycling, and wildlife conservation.

The Jabuladies project was initiated by Jabulani owner, Adine Roode, and aims to inspire, enlighten and empower women from our local communities to create a unique collection of hand-embroidered items.

We believe that looking after our planet has many sides to it, including managing our human consumption and production. That’s why we believe in using fresh seasonal ingredients in our kitchen as much as possible to limit our dependence on external fresh produce suppliers. We do this by growing our own produce onsite with our innovative aquaponics system that combines aquaculture and hydroponics.

One of our highly respected butlers at Jabulani, Obert started a new venture outside of working hours, paying forward the opportunities he’s been given and opening a not-for-profit daycare in his garage with his wife.

We’re proud to be members of the Pack for a Purpose initiative that strives to uplift local communities through tourism. We call on our guests to save some space in their suitcase for supplies as outlined in our wishlists for our HERD Elephant Orphanage, Mpisi Primary School, or Hlokomela Clinic to make a difference in our community.

Het andBeyond Phinda Private Game Reserve een privéreservaat in KwaZulu-Natal en heeft het totale plaatje van natuur, avontuur, luxe en dieren. Niet alleen zie je hier de Big Five, maar ook cheeta’s, giraffen, nijlpaarden en krokodillen hebben hun thuis in het reservaat.

De plek zelf bestaat uit prachtige lodges die perfect in het plaatje passen in de natuurlijke omgeving. Sommige hebben zelfs privézwembaden! Luxe en comfort gaan hier hand in hand met de wildernis.

7. Kruger Shalati

Het Kruger Shalati is een unieke en opvallende lodge gelegen in het beroemde Kruger National Park. Deze lodge ligt letterlijk boven de Sabie-rivier, op de historische Selati-spoorbrug. De lodge bestaat uit prachtig gerenoveerde treinwagons die op de brug zijn geplaatst. Elke wagon is omgebouwd tot een stijlvolle en comfortabele suite met een prachtig uitzicht op de rivier en het omliggende landschap. Er zijn ook enkele ‘grond’ suites, met eigen plonsbad.

De lodge bevindt zich in het Kruger National Park, wat betekent dat je directe toegang hebt tot een overvloed aan wilde dieren en natuur. De game drives en wandelsafari’s nemen je mee op avontuur. Een unieke ervaring in het krugerpark.

8. Muweti Bush Lodge

Bij Muweti Bush Lodge draait alles om het safari-avontuur. Er zijn slechts vijf kamers. Wel niet echt kamers, maar eerder leuke (en ietwat basic) tent chalets op palen, die voorzien zijn van alles wat je nodig hebt. Het is een kleinschalige lodge, dus er hangt een erg relaxte sfeer. Er is een heerlijke, infinity pool dat uitkijkt over het mooie landschap. In de avond is het gezellig zitten aan het kampvuur.

Deze lodge ligt in het natuurreservaat Grietjie, wat een Big 4 game reservaat is. De neushoorn komt er ook voor, maar te weinig om de Big 5 compleet te maken. Olifanten en andere dieren komen regelt water drinken bij de waterbron in de buurt van de lodge.

Wanneer je hier boekt, is alles inclusief. Van ontbijt, tot driegangen-diner en twee game drives. Kies je voor de self-catering cottage met je eigen keukentje, dan zitten er geen game drives inbegrepen.

9. Botlierskop Private Game Reserve

De Botlierskop Private Game Reserve Lodge ligt in het Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, dat zich bevindt in de buurt van Mossel Bay aan de zuidkust van Zuid-Afrika. Het is een ideale bestemming voor iedereen die op zoek is naar een unieke safari-ervaring met een vleugje luxe aan de mooie Garden Route .

Dit reservaat is maar liefst 4.200 hectare groot en is de thuisbasis van vier van de Big 5 (leeuw, olifant, buffel en neushoorn). Maar dat is niet alles, er zijn nog veel meer dieren. Denk jachtluipaarden, zebra’s, de zwarte impala, giraffen, nijlpaarden en zoveel meer. Als de leuke game drives nog niet genoeg zijn, is er ook een mogelijkheid tot een safari te paard of wandeltocht door de bush.

De lodge heeft heel wat mooie kamers of suites te bieden, van tent lodges en statige suites tot spectaculaire villa’s. Ontspannen doe je na zo’n drukke dag in het wellness-gedeelte waar je een massage kan nemen of een bezoekje aan de sauna kan brengen. Buiten kan je een plonsje maken in het zwembad.

Set along the idyllic Sand River, Singita Boulders is one of the most sought after lodges set on the edge of the Kruger National Park. Not only is the location enviable, with game consistently spotted nearby the lodge, but the rooms are delightfully inventive. As one of South Africa’s original private game reserves, the legacy that is Londolozi Lodge attracts visitors from all over the world, year after year. The luxury safari tents are perched high over the game reserve below, making for incredible sunrises to wake up to in the early mornings.

7. Singita Sweni, Kruger National Park

As I mentioned earlier, Singita lodges are considered the creme de la creme in luxury safari lodges. And if you are looking for a lodge that is a little more discreet and secluded, you will find just that at Singita Sweni. Overlooking the Sweni River, each of the tented suites provides an opportunity to not only listen to, but sometimes witness hippo’s down below. Being this immersed in the wildlife of the African bush is an experience that not many other things in the world can add up to!

8. Madikwe Safari Lodge, Madikwe Game Reserve

As a family owned business, Madikwe Safari Lodge pride themselves on giving guests a more grass roots experience, yet still with all the luxurious finishing touches. The lodge is also perfect for families, as there is plenty of room to bring the whole tribe. Being more family friendly, the lodge has a much more approachable feel and offers panoramic views over Madikwe Game Reserve down below.

9. Lukimbi Safari Lodge, Kruger National Park

Experience the big 5 with either our traditional, quadbike or horseback safari adventures., half day trips.

For more information and bookings, choose your preferred Cape Town Safari Day Trip.  All half day safaris include a traditional safari experience, welcome drinks, and meals. Children, age 3 and under, are free of charge with accompanying adult. Children, age 4 to 11, pay 50% of adult rate. Children, age 12 and older, pay full rates.

I counted 14 gates and Detkov makes local volks happy. Kummer takes one more crystal globe.

Was that realy in town of Moscow? As I saw all that everywhere banners with Jeep advertisements, I thought ramp was located at Toledo (Ohio).

Yes, snow-ramps are sometimes popular for city-events like at autumn days or during wintertime. Even bigger sporting goods stores offer such ramp for shows and to the customers for Freestyle-snowboarding and freeskiing on so called winter-pre-sales event. Most time they are only at half to 2/3 of that high like Moscow.

Almost snow for that comes from the countles hockey icefields around by trucks.

It was an 18 second course, with a giant flat part in the middle. They also used it for big air the day before. The athletes had no chance to do any training on it, and they went up to the top in a construction elevator. I hear it was terrifying, so Kudos to all that raced!!

The burm in the middle looked scary. Racers were getting airborne off it! Kudos to all US competitors but especially Justin for taking fourth. Go steamboat!
