Does the 2008 Dodge Avenger 2.4 have a MAF sensor?

Mike

unfortunatly when u pull codes. code p0365 definition says cam sensor bank 1 sensor 2 . i agree as to this engine only having one bank but is this intake or exhaust. stupid code definitions piss me off.

Brandy

I just replaced both my cam sensors on my 2013 200 2.4 ….intake cam is on front (front side of engine) above intake on right if facing vehicle and exhaust cam is almost directly behind it on the exhaust side (rear of engine) Hope this helps!

Jason Fuentes

Can you go into depth as too which solenoid is which like would bank one or bank 2 be on the right hand or left hand side

Jason

It’s a 4 cylinder engine there is only one bank you have an intake solenoid and an exhaust solenoid because it’s a DOHC VVT engine

I have a 2009 Dodge Journey with the vvt 2.4l engine. The engine light recently came on with code P000b. I have replaced the camshaft sensor on the front driver side of the engine (after an hour of looking for it) but the light returned. Upon further investigation I'm told that it's cam shaft sensor b, I'm having trouble finding any diagrams or information on this so if someone from the forum can help I'd be very thankful, also is it the same sensor (part number) that I already replaced or are they different modules?

You have to remove the heat shield to get to the sensor (heat shield is area with bunches of small circles, loosen the long bolt that is shown above the shield).

The p/n is the same for both sensors (68080819AB). However, the diagnostics for P000B do not at all involve changing the sensor...

The diagnostics procedure is complex, but here are the solutions listed in order of probability of cause:

ENGINE OIL DIRTY OR CONTAMINATED

INCORRECT ENGINE OIL VISCOSITY

ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR OR CIRCUIT

ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR CIRCUIT

(F344) FUSED ASD/MAIN RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN OR SHORTED

(K276) VVT EXHAUST CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN OR SHORTED

VVT EXHAUST SOLENOID

CAMSHAFT 1/2 PHASER

IMPROPER ASSEMBLY OF CAMSHAFT/CRANKSHAFT TIMING CHAIN AND SPROCKETS

HIGH FRICTION IN CAMSHAFT OR OTHER VALVETRAIN COMPONENTS

POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)

Thank you Milous for your response.

I wanted to update this so it might help someone in the future, after replacing both sensors it turned out to be the VVT EXHAUST SOLENOID.

I see above what the code P000B is. Can anyone tell me what the code P0014.

I have changed both cam sensors, and still both codes come up after driven 60 miles.

why not goggle it,took me 2 seconds ...... P0014   is the OBD-II generic code that the engine control module (ECM) has determined that the bank 1 exhaust camshaft is more advanced than what the ECM has commanded it be. This over-advanced condition could be during advancing or retarding of the camshaft timing.

Dodge Journey P0340 Code: Diagnosis, Causes, How to Fix

P0340: Camshaft Position "A" Circuit

One of the more common engine management trouble codes that can occur in the Dodge Journey is P0340. It’s a generic code, which means it has the same definition for every car or truck made after 1996.

P0340 is related to the camshaft position sensor and points to an issue with the wiring harness connected to the sensor. It’s usually caused by an issue with the wiring harness going to the camshaft position sensor (CPS) or the camshaft position sensor itself.

Dodge Journey P0340

Definition of P0340

Camshaft Position Sensor – “A” Circuit

P0340 is an OBD-II diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that indicates that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a problem within your Journey’s CPS circuit, which can negatively impact your vehicle’s performance and fuel efficiency.

This error can arise from a failure, defect, or malfunction in the control, signal, or reference voltage circuit(s) of the position sensor connected to the intake camshaft. It is crucial to address this issue promptly since it can potentially lead to further complications in your vehicle.

The causes of P0340 in the Dodge Journey can vary and go beyond the camshaft position sensor itself. Some possible causes include:

  • A faulty camshaft position sensor
  • Damaged or corroded wiring and connectors
  • Timing chain or belt issues
  • Mechanical problems with the camshaft or crankshaft
  • Problems with the powertrain control module (PCM)

Causes of P0340 in the Dodge Journey

Defective camshaft position sensor.

P0340 Causes Dodge Journey

One common cause of the P0340 code in your Dodge Journey is a defective camshaft position sensor. This sensor plays a crucial role in managing the engine’s ignition spark and fuel injection timing.

If it fails or malfunctions, it can lead to rough idling, misfires, loss of power, and increased fuel consumption. It’s important to check the sensor itself for any signs of damage or wear, and replace it if needed

Corroded Wiring Harness

Another potential cause of the P0340 code is corroded or damaged wiring connecting the camshaft position sensor to the engine control module (ECM).

The wiring in your Journey may be exposed to harsh conditions, resulting in corroded or damaged connections that affect the sensor’s performance.

You should carefully inspect the wiring for any visible signs of corrosion or damage, and, if necessary, repair or replace affected wires to ensure proper signal transmission between the sensor and ECM.

Faulty Timing Chain

2010 dodge journey 2.4 camshaft position sensor location

A faulty timing chain can also contribute to the P0340 code in your Dodge Journey. The camshaft position sensor relies on accurate timing information to function properly, and a worn or damaged timing chain can disrupt this process.

If you suspect that the timing chain may be at fault, it’s essential to have it inspected and replaced, if needed, to prevent further engine issues and potential damage to other components.

Symptoms of P0340

When you experience a P0340 code in your Dodge Journey, there are several symptoms that you might notice. These symptoms can indicate that the Camshaft Position Sensor (CPS) is not functioning properly and can cause various drivability problems, including:

  • Check Engine Light
  • Lack or loss of power
  • Engine stalling
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Poor idle quality

2010 dodge journey 2.4 camshaft position sensor location

One of the most common symptoms you will encounter is the Check Engine Light illuminating on your dashboard (which is why you’re here, so let’s move on).

In addition to the Check Engine Light, you may experience a lack or loss of power when you drive your Journey .

This symptom is often accompanied by poor idle quality, misfiring, and increased fuel consumption. The P0340 code can also affect the fuel injection and ignition systems, leading to other related issues.

Another noticeable symptom is engine stalling . A faulty CPS can cause your engine to stall unexpectedly, making it difficult to start or resulting in a completely non-functional ignition system. As the computer signal weakens, your vehicle’s camshaft position sensor may prevent your ignition from sparking at all, leading to total ignition failure.

Diagnosing and Fixing P0340

P0340 Diagnosis

Diagnostic Tools

To diagnose and fix the P0340 code in your Dodge Journey, you will need a few professional diagnostic tools. These tools include an oscilloscope, a multimeter, and an OBD-II scanner. Consult your vehicle’s service manual for specific instructions on how to use these tools properly.

Checking Wiring and Sensor

First, check the wiring and connectors for any signs of wear or damage. If you find any issues, repair or replace them as needed. Next, use your multimeter to check the voltage at the camshaft sensor to ensure it is within spec.

If the wiring and voltage at your Journey’s camshaft sensor are where they should be you might need to inspect the camshaft position sensor and the crankshaft position sensor. Use the oscilloscope to compare the signals from both sensors. ]If there is a significant difference between their readings, consider replacing one or both sensors.

Resetting the Code and Re-evaluation

Once you’ve completed the necessary repairs or replacements, use your OBD-II scanner to reset the diagnostic trouble code (DTC). Make sure to follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedure for clearing codes.

After resetting the code, test drive your Journey to evaluate the performance and see if the P0340 code reappears. If the code does return, it may be advisable to consult with a mechanic for further diagnosis and expert assistance.

Remember to be professional in your approach and carefully follow the required steps to address the P0340 code in your Dodge Journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to fix a p0340 code.

The cost to fix a P0340 code in your Dodge Journey can vary depending on the specific issue. If the problem is a faulty camshaft position sensor, the cost of the replacement may range from $100 to $200, for the parts. Labor can get a lot higher depending on how hard the CPS is to get to.

If the issue is related to wiring or a faulty engine control module (ECM), the cost could be higher.

Is it safe to drive with a P0340 code?

While your Journey may still run with a P0340 code, driving with this issue could result in reduced engine performance, poor fuel efficiency, and the risk of further engine damage.

It is recommended to address the issue as soon as possible to maintain the safety and reliability of your vehicle. Continuing to drive with a P0340 code may lead to more expensive repairs down the road.

How do I clear a P0340 code after repair?

After you’ve repaired the issue causing the P0340 code, you can clear the code by using an OBD-II scanner. Plug the scanner into your Journey’s OBD-II port, turn the ignition on, and follow the instructions on the scanner to erase the code.

If the repair was successful, the code should not return and the check engine light will turn off. However, if the code reappears, there may be other underlying issues that require further investigation.

Number Of Terminals

Terminal type, standard ignition 3 terminal camshaft position sensor, dorman oe solutions 3 terminal camshaft position sensor, dorman oe solutions 2 terminal camshaft position sensor - new, bosch camshaft position sensor, what is a camshaft position sensor.

The camshaft position sensor in your vehicle detects the camshaft's relative position using an electromagnet and a geared wheel, and communicates this information to the engine control module (ECM). This helps the engine computer determine which cylinder is firing in order to sync your injectors, set ignition timing, and maintain the coil firing sequence. The camshaft position sensor is a Hall Effect sensor, meaning that its internal electromagnet detects the movement of the geared wheel as it spins, and this magnet can begin to wear out or weaken over time. This may lead to inaccurate or inconsistent readings, or your camshaft position sensor may fail to send any readings to the ECM. Camshaft position sensor problems can affect a vehicle's engine timing or its ability to start at all. Rough idle, stalling, reduced power or slow acceleration, reduced gas mileage, longer start times, and a complete failure to start could all point to a failing cam sensor. A bad camshaft position sensor may also trigger the Check Engine light to alert you to a problem. If a camshaft position sensor fails completely, it may stop sending any signal at all to your engine computer, and this may cause the vehicle to stop running and fail to start again. This can be dangerous if it happens while driving, leaving you stranded, so it's best to address signs of a camshaft position failure as soon as possible. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries replacement camshaft position sensors and crankshaft sensors for most vehicles and even offers free Check Engine light testing to help you start your diagnosis and complete your repair.

I'm trying to switch this out right now and man I wish it was as easy as the pictures.. everything is so crammed together back there 🙄

I hope you are using what came with it and not aftermarket parts. NKT/ NKG are the most common OE parts used by Mother Mopar.

I got a sensor from autozone, gave up trying to do it myself and brought it to a garage today. They told me they fixed it up, charged me for it and then I took up off the road. Car maxed out at 30 mph so I turned right back around to bring it back. No idea what's going on

2010 dodge journey 2.4 camshaft position sensor location

This has got to me the most confusing problem with my car so far. We ended up putting the old sensor back in since it worked better than the new one and the code and CEL went away. I went to visit family over the weekend and it essentially maxed out at 3,000 rpm on the highway but would still go up in speed when I hit the gas. (I had to almost floor it though for any increase in speed.) It turns out that I'm ALSO leaking transmission fluid, I believe it's just from a bad gasket though. Could this have been the cause of the weird highway driving?

2010 dodge journey 2.4 camshaft position sensor location

I havent looked into the camshaft sensor on the avenger yet but most cars ive dealt with have had bank 1 and a bank 2 sensor. I guess it helps having the skinny female hands to get down in there to replace. My last car had the same issue that ended up being the bank 2 sensor and then the MAP sensor. Like I said, I havent had this issue with my avenger so I have not checked if its the same as what I have dealt with but thought it may help or you could check in to that as well if problem persists

2010 dodge journey 2.4 camshaft position sensor location

Cam and crankshaft position sensors aren't too difficult to test for complete failure with a multimeter. 1) Check that voltage supplied at the sensor (key on) is somewhere between 5 & 9 volts depending on model. 2) Reverse the test leads to check for full battery voltage across the ground wire. 3) Wave the tip of the sensor close to a chunk of iron such as a ratchet head and watch that the voltage on the signal wire goes back and forth from almost zero to 5 volts. Beware: You could ruin the computer if you do something wrong here, so definitely do your research first and if you don't understand it, don't do it. Even if this test passes, they may need to be checked with an oscilloscope to diagnose dynamic performance. By the way, I found that the crankcase sensor fits into the camshaft sensor coupling, so I could test it from up top. Someone had replaced the pigtail at the crankcase sensor on my 2.0. While checking wire colors to safely do the voltage tests, two of the three wires fell apart. Removed the old crimp connectors, Scotchbrite-prepped the bare wires and made clean, bright solder joints to permanently eliminate that problem. Follow-up oscilloscope checks confirmed good sensors.

2010 dodge journey 2.4 camshaft position sensor location

I'm having a similar issue, my error code was a P0366 citing the bank 1 camshaft sensor B. This may be a dumb a question but would I just need to replace the same sensor as above or would it be a different one? Thanks in advance!

The rooms and halls of the Grand Peterhof Palace

#Attractions #Museums #Peterhof #Peter I #Sightseeing

The Grand Palace along with the large fountain cascade in front of it is the main attraction of Peterhof and architectural dominant of the whole Palace and Park complex. In XVII – XIX centuries the Grand Peterhof Palace was the main ceremonial residence of Russian tsars, which hosted important events and celebrations, receptions, balls and masquerades. This monumentally looking building has about 30 rooms inside.

The Grand Staircase

The Guest Entrance was arranged in the Western part of the building and involved the Grand staircase created by Bartolomeo Rastrelli in 1751.  The decoration of the Grand staircase included gilded statues and carved bouquets, caryatids and rocaille (that is made in the Rococo style) cartouches. The staircase leads guests to the enfilade which is a series of state rooms for official purposes.

• The Chesma hall is a waiting room located in front of the Throne room were officials were waiting for the start of the reception. Paintings by the German painter Jacob Hackert serve as the main decoration of the hall. They depict the most dramatic episodes of the Chesma battle in which Russian fleet headed by count Alexei Orlov defeated Turkish fleet.

• The Throne room is the most spacious one, designed for receptions, balls and concerts, with an overall area of 330 sq.m. Originally this hall shone in its splendor, but in 1777 it was decorated in a classic and more modest style under the project of Yury Felten

• The Audience room was intended for small receptions of the Empress Elizabeth. The design was done by Rastrelli and became one of the best works of the architect.

“According to a legend, Elizabeth ordered Rastrelli to use as much gold in the room design as possible, because the apartment was used for the reception of noble merchants representatives, who, in the opinion of the Empress, admired gold”

• In the eighteenth century The Dance hall was known as The Merchants hall and its spacious area of 270 sq.m. occupied most of the Western half of the Grand Peterhof Palace. The windows are arranged in two tiers here and numerous mirrors and paintings are used as decorations. Parquet is made of dark and light oak, maple and walnut. According to a legend, Elizabeth ordered Rastrelli to use as much gold in the room design as possible, because the apartment was used for the reception of noble merchants representatives, who, in the opinion of the Empress, admired gold.

• White dining room was meant for festive meals and was originally designed by Bartolomeo Rastrelli. In 1774 – 1775, Yuri Felten significantly changed the hall – the new style was the complete opposite of the previous one. Instead of the gloss of gold the interior was decorated in strict classical canons. In the center of the room there is a huge table, covered with a white tablecloth and a 30 persons porcelain set, created by the famous English master Josiah Wedgwood.

• The Painting hall is the oldest one: it was designed during the life of Peter I. It is decorated with tapestries by French masters and 16 paintings by Italian artists. Originally Nicolo Michetti and Jean-Baptiste Leblond took part in creation of the room design, but later, in the middle of the XVIII century, the hall was changed by the project of Rastrelli.

The Throne Room

Ceremonial halls are followed by the rooms of the private half, which was accessible only to a circle of confidants. It housed bedrooms, private offices and salons, designed again by Bartolomeo Rastrelli. The abundance of gilding, mirrors and paintings, suspended symmetrical arches with plafond paintings and parquet floors made of precious wood – all these details create a festive atmosphere.

Currently, the Grand Peterhof Palace is a unique Museum of history and art, whose contains about three and a half thousand exhibits, including paintings and porcelain, fabrics, unique furniture and personal belongings of the Russian rulers.
