Fresh off the heels of a collaboration with Brazilian superstar Pabllo Vittar and widely praised MTV VMA red carpet appearance, Betty Who prepares for another big feat this fall, her BIG! World tour is a celebration in honor of her upcoming album.

After a run of European dates from Amsterdam to Dublin, her upcoming US tour kicks off on February 28th at The Van Buren in Phoenix, Arizona before rolling through major markets including New York (Hammerstein Ballroom), Washington, D.C. (The Anthem), Chicago (Riviera Theatre), San Francisco (The Warfield). The tour ends April 1st at The Novo in Los Angeles, CA.

If you need to know anything about Australian-American pop trailblazer Betty Who, it's that she is a survivor. Betty Who (born October 5, 1991) is the stage name of Jessica Newham, an Australian singer and songwriter from Sydney, Australia.

Born in Sydney, Australia, Newham trained as a classical cellist from the age of four and taught herself how to play the piano and guitar. She wrote and performed her first songs at the age of 16 and moved to the U.S. to attend the Interlochen Centre for the Arts in Michigan, U.S. in 2007. After graduating from the school Newham attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston where she met producer Peter Thomas and the two began collaborating and developing Newham’s sound.

The singer’s recording debut came in 2012 with the single “Somebody Loves You” co-written by Newham and Thomas immediately after the songstress Whitney Houston’s death. The song became popular in the blogosphere and did the singer's reputation the world of good due to the track’s relatable nostalgia and contemporary edge. With a similar songwriting vein to Joni Mitchell and Carole King, Newham released her debut EP “The Movement” in 2013, which due to the online appeal garnered lots of attention from major labels.

Newham followed “The Movement” with the brassy, R&B infused “Slow Dancing” EP in spring 2014 which reached the No. 1 spot on the iTunes pop music chart. The singer’s debut album “Take Me When You Go” appeared on October 7, 2014 and features the singles “Heartbreak Dream” and “All of You”.

Wow! What a voice! Betty Who certainly has some powerful pipes on her, with a strong an passionate vocal performance that will send tingles deep down your spine. Her synth-pop/power-pop is full of funk and groove, yet also sounds expansive and dynamic, through her use of swirling synths. It is upbeat, anthemic music centred around her powerful vocals that project throughout the audience with real energy. Her performance of "Alone Again" in San Francisco displayed the force that she can create, with her passionate singing being thoroughly entertaining to listen to. Yet her songs are also transferable to slow, sensitive acoustic ballads that perhaps better allow the space to showcase Betty Who's brilliant voice, allowing for the expression and depth of emotion in her songs to really come across. Her brand of pop is relatively universal and should gain Betty Who a wide audience and continuing success in the future. Betty was originally from Australia, born in Sydney in 1991 but has since made waves in America, achieving a good level of success. Her song "Somebody Loves You" was a real hit, reaching number one on Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs chart, proving the popularity of her music. It looks like there are exciting times for this young Australian songstress, with her dynamic live performance set to enchant audiences around the world.

Australian power pop songstress Betty Who has been making quite a storm since appearing on the scene in 2013. The singer/songwriter has always has had a musical background, training as a classic cellist since youth and then going on to attend a prestigious university in the States so it could be said it is well designed destiny that Betty ended up working her way into the musical world.

Her live show really has a huge emphasis on fun and that translates well as she attempts to get the whole crowd involved regardless of whether they know the music or not. At 6 foot in stature, Betty is an imposing figure yet her charisma and joy de vivre simply makes you want to dance along. She has released a debut album and although it wasn't a commercial hit, a selection of fans know the music and sing along to the choruses. Everybody is involved for the finale of viral hit 'Somebody Loves You' and Betty looks totally ecstatic to see everybody enjoying themselves.

5 OUT OF 4 Stars! Betty KILLED IT! She is an incredible artist & she really connected to the crowd. She has a genuine sparkle about her that you can't help but let it suck you in - she's magical. I've always loved her music & had pretty mild expectations of the concert, but she blew it out of the water. This went down as one of my favorite concerts EVER. I danced my butt off and enjoyed watching her hot male back up dancers dance their butts off too! ;) If you get a chance to see her live, do it! It will be one of the best nights of your life. I love you Betty!

Attending a concert by Betty Who is to walk into a dance hall for a friendly, love-filled, all-are-welcome party. She has an amazing voice, talked to the audience to say how proud she was to see all kinds of people enjoying her music and how beautiful we should all realize that we are for our differences. The audience was very excited, very friendly to each other (for the most part), and the inclusivity fostered by the crowd (especially during the sing-alongs before and during her set) really made the night fun!

We attended the Betty Who concert at the Rex Theater in Pittsburgh on 19 April 2017. Betty always puts on a very high energy show that has everyone up and dancing. We had a meet & greet and I have to say she is one of the most appreciative artists I have ever met. There were around 15 or so in the meet & greet line and she took time with everyone to sign things and have pictures taken. Loved the show and I'm sure we'll hear much more from this very talented lady.

Betty Who was amazing! She performed like she was in an arena (really was in a small venue - the Saturn in Burmingham, Alabama) but kept the connection with the crowd very real. I love her songs and thought it will be good, but she brought so much energy and talent that it was awesome. She sang and danced non stop and always with a huge smile, like she was having a better time than the fans! Betty Who is a must see!

First and foremost Betty who is AMAZING. You can really tell she's a beautiful person inside and out. She treats her band like family & on top of that she is an PHENOMENAL artist. Her voice is beautiful and she really knows how to put a show on! This is my 3rd time seeing her perform live and I cannot wait until she comes to Philly again! Thanks Betty! <3

Betty did an incredible job of connecting with the audience and entertaining us. She sounded fabulous and made a real effort to converse with audience members and make us feel like we were all at the show together as friends, not just seeing an artist we don’t know personally. Betty Who Previews Her Liberating New Tour: 'I'm Living My NSYNC Fantasy'

Last week, Betty Who returned from a weeklong getaway to Honolulu, Hawaii, where her singular goal was to "dive off the face of the planet." She succeeded — she has the beach , bikini , and pineapple pics to prove it — but instead of spiraling into post-vacation blues upon her return home, she's feeling absolutely energized. The electro-pop singer's third headlining trek, BETTY: The Tour , kicks off its 26-date run on Tuesday night (May 7) in Santa Cruz, California, and along the way, she'll check off milestones she's long had her eye on.

"I feel like I've played every club in every city," Who told MTV News over the phone. "I've worked my ass off to get into these rooms that we're playing now. I lived in New York for three years and I saw some of my favorite acts play Terminal 5, and every time I went to Terminal 5, I was like, 'I can't fucking wait to play here.' And now I'm doing it."

It's all the more meaningful that Who's biggest tour to date is supporting an album rooted in a newfound sense of liberation. Betty — her third album, released in February — is the Australian-born singer's first project as an independent artist after she split with RCA Records, under which she released 2014's Take Me When You Go and 2017's The Valley . The eponymous album is her most fully realized work to date, and one in which she found her own voice.

"A huge part of what makes me so excited about this tour is I feel like these songs were created in such an inspired way," she explained. "I really believed in it the whole time. I didn't want anybody to stand in my way or tell me that I didn't know what I wanted, because I did. ... There are songs on it that I've been dying to write for forever, and I felt I really had the space to talk about what I wanted to talk about."

Not only that, but she's itching to play fresh material — "we've been playing the same songs for almost three years now," she said — even if that means making tough calls when it comes to the setlist. She plans to play almost all of Betty , but also wants to revisit her first two albums and pick some throwback favorites that she's missed performing. "There's a lot of songs that we're cramming into an hour-and-a-half show," she conceded.

But as grueling as finalizing that setlist is, it's also made Who besotted with Betty all over again.

"There are songs that you start performing and you're like, 'I'm obsessed with this song. Wow. Am I the best?!'" she laughed. "You fall in love with the music that you wrote six, eight, 12 months ago. So for me to be performing ' The One ,' which I wrote in a Whataburger in the Valley just after I had gotten out of my deal... it's so random and it comes to life in a way that I never expected it to."

Of that particular mid-aughts-indebted pop jam, she added, "It is definitely one of the hardest songs to perform. It's very high-energy the whole time, but I'm living my Justin Timberlake fantasy. Every night, I imagine myself being a member of NSYNC while I am performing, and that kind of gives me my second wind." The whole tour, in fact, is "very much geared and inspired by the music that inspired me when I was a kid," Who continued. "I'm excited to share that and live out my Britney Spears, NSYNC, TRL fantasy along the way."

It's a fantasy fueled by Who's comfort and confidence onstage, which she's honed for years on both her own headlining treks and as a killer opening act. She's toured with Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue, and most recently, Panic! At The Disco — all experiences that made her a stronger and more thick-skinned performer. "I think it's really important to get humbled every now and again and remember what it's like to perform in front of a crowd of people who don't care about you at all," she said.

That won't be an issue starting tonight, when BETTY: The Tour officially launches and Who's fans revel in the energy and zeal she brings to the stage. It's a hard-earned celebration, after all.

"You have to work your ass off and then you're like, 'Oh, I feel like I haven't done anything.' But then, all of a sudden, you wake up one day and you're like, 'No no, I'm playing Terminal 5. I said I always would, and it took longer than I thought it would take to get here, but I'm doing it.' That's really empowering for me and really satisfying," Who said.

"I always feel like I can't wait to show people what I can do," she continued. "I feel like I have so much to give, especially on stage, and I'm just so excited to share that."

Taylor Swift Asks Security to Help ‘Eras Tour’ Fan in Madrid in the Middle of ‘Betty’ Performance

Taylor Swift paused her live performance of “Betty” in Madrid to help a fan in need of assistance.

“Ayuda por favor,” Swift, 34, said on Thursday, May 30, during the Folklore section of her Eras Tour, which translates to “please help” in English. Swift also stopped strumming her red acoustic guitar to point at the concertgoer. It is not known what happened.

Swift is currently performing her second concert in Spain at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. During the show on Thursday, she added a guitar mash-up of “Our Song” and “Jump Than Fall” to the setlist before singing “King of My Heart” on piano.

Throughout her Eras Tour , Swift has made sure to help struggling fans.

“Ajuda por favor. Help them please,” Swift urged security officials in Lisbon on May 24 in the middle of “Champagne Problems.”

One week earlier, Swift was similarly concerned when she noticed fans waving flashlights.

“When you guys are holding a bunch of flashlights up in a group does that mean people need help? Say yes if it means [that],” Swift asked the crowd in Sweden. “OK, if I see that again I’m gonna try to put it out.”

In November 2023, Swift had also asked security guards to hand out bottles of water to a group of fans at her Brazil show. The city was dealing with an extreme heatwave, which even led to fan Ana Clara Benevides Machado ’s death at the age of 22.

“I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show,” Swift said in an Instagram Story statement . “I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this. There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.”

“I’m not going to be able to speak about this from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it,” Swift concluded. “I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.”

Swift has been on her Eras Tour since March 2023, first traversing North America, South America, Mexico, Australia and Asia. She began the European leg earlier this month in Paris. Her Eras Tour runs through December 2024.

Taylor Swift congratulates engaged couple: 'Thanks for doing that at my concert'

It's a love story, and Taylor Swift is congratulating one couple in Edinburgh, Scotland for saying, "Yes."

"I love performing this entire show in sunlight because I'm pretty sure I saw someone get engaged over here," the singer said before performing "Betty" on Friday night. "You have no idea. I never get to see that, right? Because it’s, like, dark usually at night, but it's not right now so congratulations. Wow, I just saw that whole thing! Uh, man, that's amazing!"

The open-roof of Scottish Gas Murrayfield stadium and late sunset of 9:55 p.m. allowed Swift to perform the bulk of the Eras Tour in sunlight and twilight. The arena grew dark around her acoustic, surprise set.

"Thanks for doing that at my concert, that’s a big moment — huge!” Swift acknowledged.

One couple on the right side of the stage -- where Swift was referencing when she saw an engagement -- did make it official an hour earlier during "Love Story" when she sang, "He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring / And said, 'Marry me, Juliet / You'll never have to be alone.'"

A TikTok video captured the magic moment. Many of the comments congratulated the couple. Others commented on the Jason Kelce red-and-gold overalls outfit. It wasn't confirmed if this is who Swift saw.

'Love Story' proposals are global

The love story deed where couples get engaged at her three plus hour show has made it's way around the globe. At the start of the year in Tokyo, Nobuya Matsuoka popped the question to his girlfriend Alyssa Yeager.

Yeager explained why the moment was the perfect way to ask, "Taylor Swift changed my life, saved my life and was there during the best moment of my entire life."

Taylor Swift’s first night in Madrid, Spain for the Eras Tour looked incredible as tens of thousands of fans packed into Real Madrid’s home stadium, Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. Four of the Swifties in attendance included actress Blake Lively and her three children, James (age 9), Inez (age 7) and Betty (age 4).

Lively and her husband, fellow actor and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, are close friends with Swift. The Lively-Reynolds duo joined Swift at a Kansas City Chiefs game in October to support Travis Kelce, and now Lively made the trip to Europe to take in the new-and-improved Eras Tour.

There was a particularly sweet moment as Lively recorded her kids during the performance of “Betty,” a song from Swift’s Folklore  album. The song mentions all three of her children’s names, so it’s a fitting moment to go full mom-mode.

The Proposal Costumer Recalls 'Hilarious' Betty White in Wedding Dress Fitting Scene: 'Bless Her' (Exclusive)

15 years after the movie's release, Catherine Marie Thomas tells PEOPLE the custom piece that Sandra Bullock wore was made even better by White's ad-libbing in the film

Some projects — and some people — stay with you long after you leave them behind.

That was the case for costume designer Catherine Marie Thomas , who worked on The Proposal , which was released exactly 15 years ago on June 9, 2009. Thomas tells PEOPLE that it was a "very special group" of people who came together to make that movie.

Starring Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock , the film tells the story of an editor in chief, Margaret (Bullock) who needs a green card, so she enlists her assistant Andrew (Reynolds) to marry her. The two lead characters have wildly different personalities, which Thomas balanced through their wardrobes, but she tells PEOPLE that one of her standout moments from filming came from the late Betty White .

"Betty White can do no wrong," she says of the late actress, who died on Dec. 31, 2021 at 99. "I mean, really and truly, this was such an honor to work with her. She's so funny, so sweet. But the wedding dress scene! It's hilarious. God bless her."

In the scene, Margaret is gifted with Grandma Annie's (White) wedding dress, and she tries it on for Annie to tailor. However, the dress doesn't fit her. At all. (This is a comedy, after all.) Thomas says White ad-libbed parts of that scene as they shot it over and over, making it funnier each time — and it was already funny to begin with.

But at the core of the scene, Thomas still had a beautiful dress — that was actually two dresses.

"We backtracked by thinking that if it was Annie's dress, it would've been probably from the 1930s or somewhere in there," Thomas says. "So we just started looking at stuff from the 1930s with Sandy because she loves to, and it was a really fun process. She loved the idea of having something really elegant but sort of covered."

Thomas continues, "We started by figuring out what it would look like on Sandy, and then we made another version of it in a comically large scale [for the fitting scene]. It's actually harder than you would think to make something look like that but in a bigger scale."

Recalling the scene still makes Thomas smile, she says, because Bullock and White had so much fun with it, especially with White really going for the joke about how "chesty" she was in comparison to Bullock.

"She was beyond a treasure," Thomas says.

The costume designer, who also worked on projects like Kill Bill , Mr. Robot , The Heat and more, says that working on The Proposal was a unique challenge because the story takes place in such a short time period: essentially a weekend. Margaret and Andrew visit his family in Alaska for the weekend, so much of what Thomas had to work with clothing-wise had to theoretically fit into the characters' weekend bags.

"It's tricky when you have a storyline that takes place in such a concise period of time," she says. "You know what I mean? To be able to tell that story without it feeling totally unrealistic. You don't want the viewer to be like, 'Where'd she get that from?'"

Before the duo left the big city for Alaska, though, viewers meet hardcore Margaret, and Thomas crafted a custom wardrobe for her that took her level of uptight to an extreme.

"That style of suit didn't really exist at the time," she says of the custom pieces she put Bullock in at the beginning of the film. "It was to the point where she almost couldn't walk in that long pencil skirt. It was sort of 1940s-style. There was definitely an homage to that silhouette, plus the big shoulders. Now I think you see it more, that very masculine yet feminine silhouette. It was this play on making her feel stilted but also very powerful and sexy."

Thomas wanted Bullock's character to slowly loosen up while in Alaska, but there was a short timeframe — and limited luggage space — to do so. Plus, Margaret doesn't truly loosen up in just a few short days.

"She's very fashionable, so she doesn't ever let go of this or the shoes and the Birkin bag. If you know, you know," Thomas says with a laugh. "I don't think she really expected any of those people [in Alaska] to know what she was ever wearing. The yellow V-neck Dries Van Noten sweater and the black pants is where she starts to loosen up just a little bit."

But Margaret does let loose ever so slightly as she falls in love with Andrew over the course of their short weekend together. Thomas admits, though, that even in the end, "she's still Margaret," and her wardrobe still reflects that.

"She's still put together, but she's a little softer and a little less severe."

With Reynolds, Thomas says it's "impossible" to make him look anything other than "handsome," and it was especially fun to put him in a suit for his assistant role. She says her biggest challenge at the time, though, was finding the right denim for him during the Alaska scenes because he's so tall.

"At the time there wasn't a lot of great denim with long inseams," she says with a laugh. "I imagine it's a bit easier for him now. He's got really, really long legs! But the Alaska scenes were fun with his wardrobe because we wanted to make him look comfortable because he was supposed to be around family and friends, plus he was doing masculine things like chopping wood."

Looking back on the film now, after 15 years, Thomas says she loves that the clothes and the movie feel "timeless."

"Sometimes you look at rom-coms and you can date the fashion, which is not a bad thing," she muses. "That's rom-coms. They don't have to disguise that. But I do think this movie really is pretty timeless, which I love about it. A timeless movie with a magical group of people."

A Gardens naturalist will take you on an easy guided snowshoe tour. Turn your eyes up to the trees to understand their role in the mountain ecosystem. Warm up afterward with a cup of hot chocolate and engage in drop-in activities available in the Education Center. Sign up online to secure your spot and plan to arrive 10 minutes before your tour and dress warm.

Cost: $15 Includes snowshoe rental.

SELF-GUIDED

A self-guided Tree Trail snowshoe tour is available mid-December through March, daily 10:00am–3:00pm. Snowshoes and poles are available at the Education Center in adult & youth sizes. Snow permitting. Cost: $10 rental.

Available for groups up to 50 persons from June through early September. The tour will wind through the botanical gardens and end at the  Schoolhouse Gift Shop in the Children’s Garden. You’ll learn about alpine flora and mountain environments, identification, and the history of Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and Vail. 

Tours begin at the Education Center and last roughly one hour.

Hello Betty says goodbye to downtown Oceanside location

New owner takes over this weekend; seafood restaurant was part of city’s long-sought surge in pier neighborhood development

The Hello Betty Fish House, which opened 10 years ago on Mission Avenue near the beach as a key player in the rejuvenation of downtown Oceanside, is calling it quits.

A new owner with a longtime Oceanside presence took over the business Friday with live music, a different name — The Surf Club — and a new attitude.

“Bringing it home for the locals is our goal, to be a year-round destination for the community,” said Kevin Mansour. “We don’t believe it captured the local community to its full potential.”

He and his brother Alvin Mansour are founders of Oram Holdings, a family-owned, San Diego-based hotel management company that purchased the hotel and restaurant from the original owner, Sage Restaurant Group.

The Hello Betty brand belonged to the former owner, Denver-based Sage Hospitality, and that’s why the name is going away, Kevin Mansour said. The look of the restaurant will stay the same through the summer, while the new owners plan different decor for the long term.

“It was time for a change,” Mansour said Friday. “We are really excited. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The Surf Club will have live music several days a week, Mansour said. Entertainment will begin at 6 p.m. on the rooftop deck and at 10 p.m. on the ground floor level.

The Mansour family has had properties in Oceanside for 40 years and currently owns the Haunted Head Saloon on North Tremont Street, he said. Several family members have their names engraved on the railings at the Oceanside Muncipal Pier, where they were added in 1988 as part of a fundraiser for the city’s centennial celebration.

Oram Holdings also operates the Guild and Granger hotels and several restaurants in San Diego. The Oram executive team includes Najib Mansour as principal and chairman emeritus, Anthony Mansour as associate counsel, and Marcel Mansour as director of operations.

Hello Betty’s owners said goodbye in a notice posted recently to Facebook and other social media sites.

“It’s been quite the ride,” the post said.

“We’ve had an incredible 10 years serving the Oceanside community, and for that, we thank you all,” it said. “Be on the lookout for a new concept under new management opening soon. We appreciate your support!”

The six-story, 149-room Springhill Suites hotel and conference center, with its Hello Betty restaurant and a rooftop pool and jacuzzi, opened in 2015. The property was one of several blocks near the pier that had been vacant for decades as city officials sought to revitalize the area.

Since 2015, the neighborhood has seen the construction of two beachfront resort hotels, condominium buildings, a public parking structure and more restaurants and shops. And more is planned.

Last year, developers submitted preliminary plans for two eight-story buildings, together with up to 360 apartments, on the last two vacant blocks in a nine-block master plan the Oceanside City Council approved more than 20 years ago for area.

Betty Anne Rees, who portrayed tough women who weren’t very nice in The Unholy Rollers and Sugar Hill , two 1970s offerings from the B-movie factory American International Pictures, has died. She was 81.

Rees died Monday at her home in Hemet, California, after a series of falls and a possible stroke, her niece, Kathleen Loucks, told The Hollywood Reporter . She also was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the early 1990s.

In The Unholy Rollers (1972), directed by Vernon Zimmerman, Rees portrayed Mickey Martinez, a star of the Los Angeles Avengers roller derby team who does not get along with popular new player Karen Walker (1970 Playboy Playmate of the Year Claudia Jennings).

The film, executive produced by Roger Corman and edited by Martin Scorsese, was rushed into production to take advantage of the publicity generated by MGM’s big-budget roller derby movie, Kansas City Bomber , starring Raquel Welch .

Paul Maslansky’s cult blaxploitation film Sugar Hill (1974) starred Marki Bey as Diana “Sugar” Hill, a woman who enlists a voodoo priestess (Zara Cully of The Jeffersons ) to bring back long-dead African slaves to take revenge on the Southern mob boss (Robert Quarry) responsible for her fiancé’s death.

As Celeste, the mobster’s racist girlfriend, Rees gets into a fight in a bar with Sugar and (spoiler alert) gets carried off by the zombies at the end.

Elizabeth Anne Rees was born on April 14, 1943, in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Her father, James, was an attorney who owned racehorses, and her mother, Margaret, was a homemaker.

She graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1961 and attended the University of Miami before studying acting at the Pasadena Playhouse and appearing on the daytime soap operas General Hospital and The Doctors . In New York, she roomed with future Benson star Caroline McWilliams, later the wife of Michael Keaton.

Rees went on to appear on such other shows as Adam-12 , Medical Center , Mannix , Mod Squad , The F.B.I. , Police Woman , S.W.A.T. , The Streets of San Francisco , Lou Grant , Barnaby Jones and, in 1978 for her last credit, The Incredible Hulk .

Later, she ran Gloria Marshall Figure Salons, designed kitchens and was said to have invented a goofy ’80s gift for bosses called the “Executive Teething Ring.”

In addition to her niece, survivors include her sister, Barbara; her nephew, Brian; and her cats, Honey Bear and Lovey, who need a home. (Please email Loucks at [email protected]  if you can help.) 

Rees never married, but her niece said she had a romance in the 1960s with Art Modell, who had recently acquired the NFL’s Cleveland Browns.

Actress Betty Anne Rees, who portrayed tough women in the 1970s B-movies “ The Unholy Rollers ” and “ Sugar Hill .” died June 3. She was 81.

Rees died at her home in Hemet, California, her niece, Kathleen Loucks told The Hollywood Reporter . Reese had suffered a series of falls and also was suffering from multiple sclerosis, according to the entertainment news website.

In the 1972 film, “The Unholy Rollers,” Rees played Mickey Martinez, a tough member of the Los Angeles Avengers roller derby team, according to IMDb.com . She clashes with popular new player Karen Walker (Claudia Jennings), according to The Hollywood Reporter .

The film was hurriedly produced to capitalize on the buzz generated by “Kansas City Bomber,” a roller derby-themed movie released earlier in 1972 that starred Raquel Welch, the entertainment news website reported.

Two years later in “ Sugar Hill ,” Rees played the role of Celeste, the girlfriend of a racist mobster, according to IMDb.com . She gets into a memorable bar fight  in a bar with Diana “Sugar” Hill (Marki Bey), according to The Hollywood Reporter .

According to IMDb.com , Rees made appearances in several television series, including “My Three Sons,” “Adam-12,” “Medical Center,” “Mannix,” “Mod Squad,” “The F.B.I.,” “Police Woman,” “S.W.A.T.,” “The Streets of San Francisco,” “Lou Grant,” “Barnaby Jones” and “The Incredible Hulk.”

Betty Anne Rees Dies: ‘My Three Sons’ & ‘Unholy Rollers’ Star Was 81

B etty Anne Rees, who appeared on My Three Sons but was better known for the films The Unholy Rollers and Sugar Hill , has died at age 81.

Rees died on June 3 at home in Hemet, California, niece Kathleen Loucks told The Hollywood Reporter . The retired actor had suffered a series of falls recently and had possibly endured a stroke, and she was also living with multiple sclerosis.

Born Elizabeth Anne Rees in Shaker Heights, Ohio, on April 14, 1943 — and educated at Shaker Heights High School, the University of Miami, and the Pasadena Playhouse — the actor made early appearances on the daytime soaps General Hospital and The Doctors , per THR .

In the early 1970s, Rees guest-starred on the TV shows The F.B.I. , Adam-12 , Mannix , and Mod Squad .

Then came her role in the ABC -turned- CBS sitcom My Three Sons . Rees played Janet Ingram, the secretary of Fred MacMurray ’s character, in the final season.

In 1972’s Unholy Rollers , pictured above, she played Mickey, a roller derby star threatened by teammate-on-the-rise Karen (Claudia Jennings). Notably, as THR reports, the film boasted Roger Corman as an executive producer and Martin Scorsese as an editor.

And in 1974’s blaxploitation flick Sugar Hill , Rees played Celeste, mob boss Morgan (Robert Quarry) girlfriend, who is ultimately offed by zombies summoned by the title character.

Her later TV roles including guest spots on Police Woman , S.W.A.T. , Police Story , The Streets of San Francisco , Lou Grant , and Barnaby Jones . Her last screen appearance came in 1978, when she guest-starred on The Incredible Hulk .

After leaving Hollywood behind, Rees ran a weight-loss center and designed kitchens.
