We offer full day and half day shore fishing trips and focus on rock and surf fishing for both shark and non-shark species. Our guide assists clients with bait presentation, casting and coaching; therefore no prior fishing experience is required to do this tour.

AMAZING BEACH DRIVES!

Observe as our guide unfolds a delicate ecosystem of unique intertidal and beach creatures that live on the beach and in the rock-pools. In and around the rock-pools you will find molluscs, anemones, seaweeds and crustaceans.

Our Accommodation

East Cape Wild Sky Safari's lodging includes a main house and individual units with en suite bathrooms all with hot and cold running water, flush toilets and comfortable beds, electricity and a beautiful garden. Surrounded by indigenous trees and bush with an abundance of birdlife, the lodge has a swimming pool, dining area as well as an outdoor lapa, for evenings of entertainment around the fireplace. The lodge is situated in a safe and secure setting and we strive to ensure our guests experience true South African hospitality whilst on safari with us.

ACCOMMODATION

Our accommodation units include a Main House and Individual Units.

Each room is furnished with high quality linen and furniture. Units are serviced daily and professional service is guaranteed.

Individual units has en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water.

ENTERTAINMENT AREA

The main house has an inviting lounge, swimming pool and lapa with braai (barbeque) facilities.

Game Viewing Trips...

We offer Game Viewing Trips to the Addo Elephant National Park. They offer a variety of activities, including Game Drives, Horse Trails, 4x4 Trails, Hiking Trails, Marine Eco Tours and the Addo Indlovu Spa.

The magnificent elephant head which is mounted in the Interpretive Centre is that of Hapoor, the legendary dominant bull in the park for 24 years. The waterhole in the south western section of the game viewing area is named after him. 'Hap' means 'nick' in Afrikaans, while 'oor' means 'ear' and it is believed the distinctive nick in his ear was caused by a hunter's bullet.

Hapoor retained a deep hatred of humans throughout his life. On more than one occasion park staff were forced to flee to safety when Hapoor made his appearance. His dominance stretched from 1944 to 1968.

During the latter part of the 1960's a few younger bulls reached maturity and challenged Hapoor. These upstarts were unsuccessful until one bull named Lanky finally deposed Hapoor in 1968. Hapoor was driven from the heard and became a loner. Later that year he succeeded in climbing the park's 'Armstrong Fence', which for nearly 20 years had been elephant-proof. His freedom was to be short lived as due to his aggressive nature, it was determined he would have to be shot.

Video shows rare orca sighting off the coast of Massachusetts

CHATHAM - There was a rare killer whale sighting off Cape Cod, Massachusetts on Sunday.

Paul van Steensel, owner of Cape Dreams Building & Design , said he was out fishing for tuna with some of his employees and family when they spotted the orca coming up for air about seven miles off Chatham. 

"It was a great experience for the 7 and 8-year-olds, even though they have no idea how special it was," van Steensel told WBZ-TV.

Chatham orca may be 'Old Thom'

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy said it's "very exciting to see" an orca in Massachusetts waters. And this one appears to be a familiar face.

New England Aquarium scientist Orla O'Brien said the killer whale looks like "Old Thom," a large male orca who is known to swim alone or sometimes with dolphins .

Previous killer whale sightings in Massachusetts

Old Thom is the only killer whale regularly seen in North Atlantic waters, but four were seen swimming together last June about 40 miles south of Nantucket. O'Brien said at the time that it's "always unusual to see killer whales in New England waters."

Orcas are part of the dolphin family and known as "the ocean's top predator," according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. They eat fish and squid but have been known to hunt great white sharks . 

CBS News reports that reports of orca encounters with humans have more than tripled in the last few years. Last month, killer whales once again attacked and sunk a sailing yacht in the Strait of Gibraltar.
