Vessel Specifications

The American Princess is a 95 foot aluminum cruising vessel and is United States Coast Guard certified for up to 250 passengers . The American Princess provides a fast and comfortable ride while powered by three engines and boasts the latest in modern navigational electronics (e.g., computerized GPS, Loran, Radars, Depth Recorder) for unparalleled safety.  We are equipped with a high output stereo/PA system with speakers throughout the vessel. Large screen televisions provide broadcast entertainment and a laptop interface is available in the cabin.

The American Princess has a large upper deck with canopy and removable side curtains. It is perfect for dining, sightseeing and dancing. The American Princess has a large main deck and cabin with individually cushioned seats and tables for casual dining. A bar/galley and separate buffet area are located in the cabin as well.

The main cabin is fully air conditioned and heated to accomodate all weather conditions.

The exterior main deck has built-in seating around its perimeter.

Must-Try Cruise Activities on Princess Cruise

Champagne tower.

One of the highlights of a Princess cruise for me is the champagne tower event. It takes place in the atrium and involves a grand display with hundreds of champagne glasses stacked into a tower. The cruise director starts it off by pouring champagne from the top, creating a mesmerizing cascade. 

The best part is that guests can take turns pouring champagne onto the tower. It’s a lot of fun, and the cruise photographers capture the moment. If there’s one cruise photo worth buying, it’s this one. Trust me, I have a photo of the champagne tower in my home office, and it never fails to make me smile!

Outdoor Movies

Outdoor movies are a must-try activity on Princess Cruises! The movie screenings happen on the pool deck, where the cruise staff creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere for watching movies under the stars.

They transform the pool loungers into a comfortable outdoor movie theater by adding plush seat cushions and cozy blankets for snuggling. To top it off, they serve popcorn for you to enjoy during the movie. It’s truly a unique experience that you shouldn’t miss on Princess Cruises.

Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea is one of my favorite onboard activities on Princess Cruises. This elegant service is typically available in one of the main dining rooms on days at sea.

Treat yourself to a spread of freshly baked scones, tea sandwiches, pastries, clotted cream, jams, and a variety of teas. It’s a great way to take a break from the afternoon activities and enjoy an elegant experience onboard. And the best part is, it’s completely free!

Back of the House Kitchen Tour

Don’t miss the free back-of-the-house kitchen tour on Princess Cruise. It’s really interesting to get a sneak peek behind the scenes in the kitchen.

But don’t expect to see a fully operational kitchen during the tour. Instead, you’ll see a clean kitchen with minimal food preparation and cooking activities. Get a tour of where your assistant waiter goes to get your drinks, lock up all the liquor, and where the line cook does their prep.  

When I was on the tour, the pastry chefs displayed elaborate cakes, which was quite impressive. It’s a great experience to see what happens behind the scenes, especially for kids. Some cruise lines charge for a behind-the-scenes kitchen tour, but luckily, Princess Cruise Line offers it for free!

Cooking Demos

The Princess cruise cooking demonstration is a fun activity to go to. It usually takes place on sea days at the Princess Theater.

Unlike some other cruise lines like Holland America, where you might expect a more serious cooking demonstration focused on teaching you how to prepare a dish, the cooking demo on Princess Cruises is more about entertainment than education. It’s a lighthearted, comedic cook-off between the chef and the cruise director. The slapstick comedy makes it fun for the kids! It’s amusing to see the chef in action.

Bartender Competition

The bartender competition on Princess Cruises is a lively event that you don’t want to miss. Held in the atrium on one of the at-sea days, it features talented cruise bartenders competing against each other in expertly mixing drinks and cocktails.

Similar to the cooking demo, it aims to entertain rather than educate. Expect acrobatic stunts, cocktail-making, and mixer juggling. They even choose a few audience members to sample the cocktails for free! It’s a family-friendly activity, so bring the kids. They will enjoy watching the bartenders compete! Princess Eugenie's impressive behind-the-scenes role at historical royal event

Princess Eugenie was delighted when Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi proposed to her sister Beatrice after a whirlwind romance - we take a look back at her involvement

Princess Eugenie played a touching behind-the-scenes role in her big sister Beatrice's engagement.

The siblings are incredibly close so when it came to sharing a selection of photos to celebrate their happy news back in September 2019, as befits royal tradition, Beatrice didn't just rely on professional snaps. A series of stunning colour photos taken by Eugenie were also shared with the public.

The images show Beatrice and her future husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi hugging and looking lovingly into each other's eyes, with the royal showing off her engagement ring. "Beabea - wow!" wrote Eugenie on social media. "I'm so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It's been a long time coming and you two are meant to be. [Camera emoji] by me!"

Proud mum Sarah Ferguson referenced Eugenie's photography in one of her tweets sharing the names. She wrote: "Eugenie took the colour photographs as my girls are so close."

The couple also released a number of black and white photos taken photographer Misan Harriman, and show the couple pulling faces and laughing. The second series of snaps were taken at Royal Lodge, Windsor Great Park.

Edoardo proposed to Beatrice in Italy and when their engagement was officially announced the happy couple wrote on social media: "We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to actually be married.

"We share so many similar interests and values and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness." The royal couple went onto get married in an intimate ceremony at Windsor Castle in July 2020 and have a two-year-old daughter together, Sienna.

Their wedding had been delayed due to the pandemic and the small family ceremony saw Princess Beatrice wore a vintage dress by Norman Hartnell, on loan from Queen Elizabeth II. Princess Beatrice also wore Queen Mary's diamond Fringe tiara, on loan from her grandmother.

Eugenie is not the only royal who takes photos - the Duchess of Cambridge takes the official snaps of her children. Her pictures of Prince George , Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have been widely praised for their relaxed approach.

Prince Harry is also a keen photographer and has shared a number of photos on the Instagram account he shares with Meghan Markle .
