Lisa Lutoff-Perlo: Ex-cruise line CEO now pilots Miami’s World Cup team

www.miamitodaynews.com

Lisa Lutoff-Perlo’s roots in the hospitality world date to her childhood growing up in a small coastal town in Massachusetts where she worked in her family’s coffee shops and restaurants. She carried this early experience with her and after college embarked on a life-long career in hospitality.

Ms. Lutoff-Perlo began working with a Boston travel agency in 1983 and two years later, she applied for a sales representative position with Royal Caribbean, where she would create a lasting impact on the company and industry over the next 40 years.

From 1985 to 2024, Ms. Lutoff-Perlo worked her way up the ranks, serving as president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises from 2014 to 2023. She was the first woman to take the helm of a Royal Caribbean Group brand and one of the few women in the world then leading a multi-billion-dollar brand.

She also served as vice chairman, external affairs for the Royal Caribbean Group, with a global fleet of 64 ships sailing for Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea Cruises.

Recognizing her rich background in hospitality, Ms. Lutoff-Perlo was asked to head the FIFA World Cup 2026 Miami Host Committee. As committee president and CEO, she is responsible for leading the strategy, fundraising, fan activations and operations for the seven 2026 Men’s FIFA World Cup matches.

Ms. Lutoff-Perlo’s experience will aid in driving the Miami Host Committee as the 2026 FIFA World Cup is anticipated to be one of the most significant global sporting events. Miami, one of the world’s leading sports and entertainment destinations, joins 16 host cities in North America to showcase the world’s most popular sports tournament with more than 3.5 billion fans worldwide.

Ms. Lutoff-Perlo spoke with Miami Today reporter Genevieve Bowen.

This week’s profile will appear in next year’s Book of Leaders.

Miami Today publishes a Book of Leaders every year. This book is a compilation of all The Achievers profiled in every edition.

The information in this book is available nowhere else – the stories of the women and men who are shaping the development of Greater Miami.

‘vindication’: criminal extortion case dropped against broward attorney.

Chris Gothner , Digital Journalist

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A South Florida attorney has been cleared of criminal charges in a November 2023 extortion case in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, his lawyers say.

David Weintraub, 64, who specializes in stockbroker litigation, had been accused of leaking information about a condominium board member’s past legal woes to ‘embarrass her’ into quitting.

Prosecutors dropped the case Wednesday, Weintraub’s attorneys said.

In a statement posted to its website Wednesday, lawyers at Greenspoon Marder LLP said their longtime fellow litigator had a “great day in court,” calling the result “vindication.”

“We are grateful that ASA Rice considered our arguments and further investigated these absurd allegations,” Attorney Adriana Collado-Hudak said. “David Weintraub is an exceptional person, guardian ad litem, and advocate, and we are thrilled that he can move on from these unjustified accusations.”

The firm said its attorneys, who argued that the claims against Weintraub were false and malicious, “presented the State Attorney’s Office with information about the accuser’s background, witness statements and case law.”

Attorney David Kubiliun said, “Justice was done, and Mr. Weintraub’s well-earned reputation is preserved. This is the best result we could have hoped for.”

In a statement, the Broward Stat Attorney’s Office said:

“After further investigation, prosecutors determined there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction and dropped the criminal charge against David Weintraub in court today.”

Local 10 News has requested a closeout memo from Broward prosecutors.
