Great coffee and chocolate tour!

Me and my husband recently visited this plantation and we had a fun time learning a lot about both how coffee and chocolate is made. I never had such a delicious white chocolate ever before. Beyond a great tour that was given by Andres, Don Juan team also helped us out with our last minute transfer request and they were very flexible with our return ride and made sure we got back in time to our hotel as we had another upcoming trip. Thank you Brendan and team! I would highly recommend visiting this place and supporting local farmers instead of going to a more commercial place.

This was a three-part tour: coffee, sugar cane, and chocolate. The farm’s gardens and exhibits were okay, and there were many displays. The guide encouraged audience participation and was cheerfully friendly. However, his English was so poor (strong accent and limited vocabulary) that our group missed a lot of content. Even I, an experienced ESL teacher, didn’t get a lot of the content. Most members of the group were non-native English speakers, and they frequently had puzzled looks on their faces. I ended doing a lot of paraphrasing in English or translations in German to keep everyone involved. The potential is there for an interesting experience: seeing how coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane are processed. The Don Juan guides just need better language skills and more training in how to choreograph and present such an educational event.

We decided to do this tour on a bit of whim after doing some more adventure type activities. What a great surprise! We learned so much about coffee and chocolate - and gained quite a respect for the process of growing and creating the products. The interactive aspects were great at pulling us all in - we tasted coffee and chocolate - and even got to make our own chocolate. We are so glad we did this tour!!

We did the combination chocolate and coffee tour and had a great time. Were big on learning the history and processes of various things (beer, alcohol, etc) so this was right up our alley. Andres was very fun and informative and we had a great time. Plus you get coffee and chocolate at the end. Best part? Seeing the resident sloth!

You do not know what you don't know about chocolate and coffee until you have done this tour! It is great for any age. I recommend doing both the coffee and chocolate tours. They were both awesome, but there was also a seamless transition between the two. The guide was funny and great with kids. He could answer any question thrown at him. He also brought to light many misconceptions about coffee and chocolate that are pretty helpful when it comes to purchasing and making a quality product. The entire tour was interactive! There were so many things to taste, some of them cut right from the tree before your eyes. There are some that even get to make their own chocolate bar. Do not miss this tour! It is worth every penny!

Marvelous! Must do, great knowledge, and you realize all it takes for a cup of liquid pleasure! Please do it! Support local! It takes about two hours, and you walk outdoors so it might rain (but you don’t walk for two hours). Our tour guide was amazing!

We did the coffee, chocolate, sugarcane 3 in 1 tour at Don Juan Coffee Tour. We ended up getting the tour to ourselves. We learned so much and enjoyed tasting and smelling the ingredients. The tour was hands-on; we got to help grind beans, juice the sugarcane, etc.

Such a great experience. A very in-depth tour of coffee’s history, production, and craft. So much to learn, and it was enjoyable to taste chocolate made in different ways. Our guide was the greatest! He was hilarious, friendly, and an awesome tour guide.

Great your of coffee plantation family owned and operated... Very nice people and great value! Ox ride, free food, free coffee, free own made sugar cane toffee, very interesting tour and coffee process from start to end... Local business with heart, love and care!

With all the high adventure zip line and white water rafting tours available, we were pleasantly surprised with this one. The tour guide, Joyce, took us to her father's (Juan's) coffee farm, and translated for us. It was very interesting seeing the coffee plants, fruit trees, and their house. The slow dried coffee Juan brewed for us is probaly the best I have ever tasted (though I must disclaim that I am not a coffee connoisseur).

The guide, owners and staff shared with us the entire process of coffee making, and later the process of making sugar from sugar cane. The 'white lightening' was exactly that. A tour well worth every cent and many thanks...

This was such a great tour to take. This is a family owned and operated coffee and sugar cane plantation. The area is so beautiful, and the family so accomodating. We walked thru the tour learning about coffee, and sugar cane. We made candy from the sugar cane, and had a ride on the ox cart. It really was fun. We were given coffee and or juice to sample, in the store area. I left with a few pounds of coffee and some beautiful hand painted notebooks on banana paper. This is a tour everyone can enjoy.. wished I had my grandkids with me.

Excellent and very informative. Thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Now we know why coffee is so expensive!
