The Eagles' will return to Nashville this week when their "Hotel California" tour comes to Bridgestone Arena April 28-29. The band last performed at Bridgestone Arena in March 2018 for a two-night run. 

Here are some things to know about the 2022 tour.

'Hotel California' from start to finish

The show will feature a start-to-finish performance of the beloved 1976 album that shares a name with the tour.  A full orchestra, led by Nashville music industry giant Jim Ed Norman , and a choir will join the band. Norman, also known for his work with Linda Ronstadt, Bob Seger, Randy Travis and others, got his start as an orchestral arranger for The Eagles in 1973 on the song "Desperado."

This will be his first time to ever tour with the band. For the "Hotel California" tour, Norman was recruited to update his classic arrangements and conduct the musicians on stage.

"Hotel California" features staple cuts such as "Life In The Fast Lane," "Victim Of Love" and, of course, the title track. After performing the album, the band will also play a set of their greatest non-'California' hits.

Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill continues to tour with the band , a position he adopted in 2017, roughly a year after co-founding member Glenn Frey died. 

The Eagles tour in 2022 will include Gill joining Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmit and Joe Walsh. Deacon Frey, Glenn's son, toured with The Eagles for more than four years following the death of his father in 2016, but it was recently announced he will not be on upcoming dates with the band.

"Deacon Frey has devoted the past 4½ years to carrying on his father’s legacy and, after some weeks of reflection, he now feels that it is time for him to forge his own path. We understand, completely, and we support him in whatever he wishes to pursue in the years ahead," a statement posted on The Eagles website says.

After more than half a century of crisscrossing the globe to spread the warm smell of colitas, the Eagles have announced the dates for their final tour . Dubbed “The Long Goodbye,” the trek will feature fellow Rock and Roll Hall of famers Steely Dan opening up the shows, which are slated to kick off Sept. 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds,” read a statement from the group. “Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years. We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful.”

But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle,” the band continued in its announcement, noting that the farewell run is still in the planning stages, with more dates to be announced at a later time. “We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round… The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand.  But, we hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up. Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”

For the six new dates added between Jan. 19 and March 13 next year, pre-sale starts on Wednesday, Nov. 1, and general on-sale is Friday, Nov. 3, at 10 a.m. local time.

The Eagles announce final tour: 'This is our swan song'

After more than 50 years of touring, the Eagles are bidding a fond farewell to life in the fast lane.

The legendary rock band has announced that their upcoming tour, The Long Goodbye, will officially be their last.

"Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle," the group said in a statement. "The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round."

The "Hotel California" crooners, who will be joined on the road by fellow Hall of Fame inductees Steely Dan , will kick off their tour in September with a performance at Madison Square Garden. Although the current show dates will feature the Eagles — members Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill, and Deacon Frey — rocking out until November across the East Coast, the band anticipates the tour will actually carry on much longer, as they plan to "return to certain cities depending on demand." A press release notes that the tour is expected to continue into 2025.

"We hope to see as many of you as we can before we finish up," they said. "Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on."

The Eagles, known for their California sunshine–infused singles like "Take It Easy" and "Tequila Sunrise," have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and won six Grammys over the course of their 50-year career. The band's compilation album, titled Greatest Hits 1971-1977 , is the best-selling album of all time.

Eagles Announce Spring 2022 Tour Dates Playing ‘Hotel California’ in Full

The Eagles have announced an extended slate of concerts for their upcoming spring tour across the United States, where the rock legends will perform their influential 1976 album Hotel California in its entirety, along with an additional set of greatest hits.

And not only will the landmark Eagles album be played in full, it will also be bolstered by an orchestra and 22-piece choir joining the group onstage at each show. The tour leg kicks off on March 17 in Cleveland and covers the country over the next three months. Several 2022 Hotel California dates were announced last year ; more concerts were added just this week.

Surviving Eagles members Don Henley , Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit will join country icon Vince Gill and the late  Glenn Frey 's son, Deacon Frey, for the concerts. Gill and Deacon joined the band after Glenn's death in 2016, splitting his duties across various Eagles hits.

The Eagles originally announced the Hotel California  tour for 2020 after playing a Las Vegas residency devoted to the album in 2019. They did initial shows through February 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to reschedule most dates .

Hotel California contains the Eagles' signature hit of the same name, of course, in addition to the singles "New Kid in Town," "Life in the Fast Lane" and deep cuts such as "Victim of Love" and "Try and Love Again."

Eagles Announce ‘Hotel California’ 2022 Tour With Orchestra, Choir

Eagles  have announced an eight-show  Hotel California  2022 tour that will see the band perform the third-best-selling U.S. album in history front-to-back at each stop with an accompanying orchestra and choir. Additionally, the run of Southeast shows will feature a second “Greatest Hits” set.

Surviving Eagles members  Don Henley ,  Joe Walsh , and Timothy B. Schmit  along with Deacon Frey and Vince Gill  will begin the tour on February 19th in Savannah, GA. The tour then travels to neighboring North Carolina for a stop in Charlotte (2/21) before a run of Florida shows with stops in Orlando (2/24), Ft. Lauderdale (2/25), and Tampa (2/28). The Hotel California  tour then doubles back to Raleigh, NC (3/2); and Atlanta, GA (3/4); before wrapping in Austin, TX (5/19).

Back in 2019, the Eagles performed three  Hotel California concerts in Las Vegas to widespread acclaim. Since then, the band has played the album over 30 times in 15 cities across the U.S., with a fall tour that just wrapped last month. These shows will see the remaining band members revisit songs they hadn’t performed live since the initial album tour back in 1976. Following a complete run through the album, there will be a short intermission followed by a “Greatest Hits” set.

It’s time to check into the Hotel California again.

The Eagles , who haven’t been on tour since 2018, are going back on the “dark desert highways” of the road in 2022 to play their nine-track “Hotel California” album in its entirety with a full orchestra and choir at each concert.

Following the performance of the iconic record, the soft rockers will reportedly dust off their greatest hits to close out the shows.

The Eagles announce 2022 ‘Hotel California’ US tour dates

The Eagles have announced US tour dates for their ‘Hotel California’ tour.

The group, comprising Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit with Deacon Frey and Vince Gill, will play eight new dates in the US from February.

Each stop will feature a choir and an orchestra accompanying the veteran rockers for a run through of their 1976 album ‘Hotel California’ before an interval followed by a set of the band’s greatest hits.

In October Eagles confirmed huge shows across the UK and Europe as part of their ‘Fifty Years’ tour . Tickets are on sale for all dates now here .

Eagles will join Elton John ,  Pearl Jam and Duran Duran and more at BST Hyde Park 2022.

Before the  COVID pandemic, the group had set out plans to return to the UK in the summer of 2021 to bring their ‘Hotel California’ tour to London’s Wembley Stadium  for two nights.

The announcement came after the rockers played the album in its entirety for the first time ever at three sold-out shows in Las Vegas in September of 2019. The show featured 77 musicians on stage, including a 46-piece orchestra and 22-strong choir.

Eagles, alongside  Pearl Jam ,  Guns N’ Roses  and  Green Day , were among the bands  to receive PPP loans from the US federal government’s Paycheck Protection Program during the COVID crisis last year.

Eagles Announce 2022 Hotel California Extended Tour Dates

The Eagles – Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit, with Deacon Frey and Vince Gill – have extended the Hotel California 2022 Tour with even more concert dates being added. Each show will feature the iconic Hotel California album played from beginning to end, accompanied by orchestra and choir, along with an additional set of the band’s greatest hits.

It is common knowledge that founding member Glenn Frey was among the first to incorporate Takamine Guitars' game-changing onboard electronics in live performance. Perhaps less known is that the Eagles choice of Takamine dates well before the 1979 introduction of the Palathetic pickup. The Eagles bring their 'Hotel California' Tour to Des Moines and will play the entire album

When they arrive in Iowa it's hard to say if the Eagles will think "this could be heaven or this could be hell," but there should be plenty of room for fans of the band in Des Moines' Well Fargo Arena.

Classic rock band, the Eagles — famous for hits such as "Hotel California" and "Take It Easy" —  will expand the "Hotel California" Tour to include a stop in Des Moines at 8 p.m. on Nov. 17 at Wells Fargo Arena, 233 Center St.

The tour will include band members Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill, who started touring with the band in 2017 after the death of the band's previous guitarist, Glenn Frey.

The band performs its "Hotel California" album in its entirety with a choir and orchestra. After an intermission, the band launches into some of its greatest hits. Previous concerts on this tour brought a 28-sing set that included “One of These Nights,” “Peaceful Easy Feeling,” “Witchy Woman,” “Take It to the Limit” and “Tequila Sunrise” with some Joe Walsh and James Gang songs thrown in for good measure. 

The band previously performed Des Moines in 2018 and before that in 2014 .

Last month saw both one current collaborator and one past member of the Eagles stop in Iowa when  former lead guitarist Don Felder performed the Mason City stop on RAGBRAI  and country artist Vince Gill played the Des Moines Civic Center  less than a week before that.

“I think for me, I don’t sing it, but getting to be a part of 'Desperado' is pretty powerful," Gill told the Des Moines Register in July about his favorite Eagles songs to perform. "That’s the very first song that Glenn and Don (Henley) wrote together.”

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Aug. 19 for the Wells Fargo event and can be found through  hy-veetix.com  and livenation.com .

The Eagles are one of the most iconic American rock bands of all time, known for their harmonious vocals and intricate musicianship that contributed to the sound of 1970s rock and roll. Formed in Los Angeles in 1971, the band initially consisted of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. Over the years, the lineup evolved, but the band’s essence and impact on American music remained undeniable.

The Eagles’ self-titled debut album was released in 1972 and introduced the world to their unique blend of rock, country, and folk. Songs like “Take It Easy” and “Witchy Woman” quickly became anthems of the era, and the album was a commercial success. But it was their next albums that catapulted them into superstardom. “Desperado” (1973) took the band in a conceptual direction, with its themes revolving around the Old West. This was followed by “On The Border” (1974), which featured the hit single “Best of My Love.”

By 1975, the band saw a lineup change with the addition of guitarist Don Felder, who contributed to the heavier sound of their next album, “One of These Nights.” This album included hits like “Lyin’ Eyes” and the title track, earning them their first Grammy Award. In 1976, the Eagles released “Hotel California,” one of the most popular and influential albums in rock history. The title track and “New Kid in Town” are particularly memorable, both garnering Grammy Awards.

Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner left the band and were replaced by Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, respectively. The new members brought a harder rock edge to the band’s sound, evident in their next album, “The Long Run” (1979). However, tensions within the band led to its disbandment in 1980.

After a 14-year hiatus, The Eagles reunited in 1994 with the album “Hell Freezes Over,” named after Henley’s famous quip that the band would get back together “when hell freezes over.” The album included four new songs and was a commercial success, spurring a highly profitable tour.

Sadly, co-founder Glenn Frey passed away in 2016, but the band decided to continue touring, with Frey’s son Deacon and country musician Vince Gill filling in. Despite the changes and the controversies that have followed them over the years, the Eagles’ legacy remains intact. Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) compilation became the best-selling album of the 20th century in the U.S., and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

EAGLES CURRENT AND FORMER MEMBERS

Don Henley , originally from Gilmer, Texas, was one of the founding members of The Eagles , formed in 1971. He primarily served as the drummer and co-lead vocalist of the band. Henley contributed to all of the band’s original albums, from their self-titled debut in 1972 to “Long Road Out of Eden” in 2007. Some of his most iconic songs with The Eagles include “Hotel California,” “Desperado,” “Witchy Woman,” and “The Long Run.” Henley was integral in writing and singing some of the band’s most enduring hits, often collaborating with Glenn Frey.

Outside of The Eagles , Don Henley had a highly successful solo career that kicked off in 1982 with his debut solo album, “I Can’t Stand Still,” featuring the hit single “Dirty Laundry.” His 1984 album “Building the Perfect Beast” and 1989’s “The End of the Innocence” were both commercial and critical successes. Henley has received numerous awards, including several Grammy Awards both as a solo artist and as a member of The Eagles, who were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

Glenn Frey, hailing from Detroit, Michigan, was another founding member of The Eagles . He played guitar and keyboards and shared lead vocal duties with Don Henley. Frey was part of all the original lineup albums, starting from “Eagles” in 1972 to “Long Road Out of Eden” in 2007. He was the voice behind hits like “Take It Easy,” “Tequila Sunrise,” and “New Kid in Town,” among others. Frey’s songwriting partnership with Don Henley is one of the most celebrated in rock history.

Aside from his work with The Eagles , Glenn Frey also had a successful solo career, particularly in the 1980s. His debut solo album, “No Fun Aloud,” was released in 1982 and included hits like “The One You Love.” He also had a string of soundtrack hits, such as “The Heat Is On” from “Beverly Hills Cop” and “You Belong to the City” from the “Miami Vice” soundtrack. Frey tried his hand at acting as well, with appearances in TV shows and a feature film. He received numerous accolades over his career, including several Grammy Awards and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Eagles in 1998. Frey passed away in 2016, marking an end to his long and fruitful career.

Bernie Leadon

Bernie Leadon, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was one of the original founding members of The Eagles . He was primarily a guitarist and banjo player for the band but also contributed vocals. Leadon played a significant role in the band’s first four albums: “Eagles” (1972), “Desperado” (1973), “On the Border” (1974), and “One of These Nights” (1975). He was particularly influential in shaping the country rock sound of the band’s early years, contributing to songs like “Witchy Woman” and “Take It Easy.” He left the band in 1975, seeking a break from touring and wishing to move in a different musical direction.

Outside of The Eagles , Bernie Leadon had a rich musical career. He was a member of the pioneering country-rock bands Dillard & Clark and the Flying Burrito Brothers before joining The Eagles . After leaving the band, he released several solo albums and collaborated with a variety of musicians in the country and bluegrass genres. He rejoined The Eagles for their “History of the Eagles” tour in 2013.

Randy Meisner

Born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Randy Meisner was the original bassist and one of the founding members of The Eagles . Meisner’s falsetto vocals were a defining characteristic of the band’s harmonies. He participated in the first six studio albums, from the debut “Eagles” (1972) up to “Hotel California” (1976). His most famous contribution to The Eagles’ repertoire was the hit song “Take It to the Limit,” which he co-wrote and sang.

Beyond The Eagles , Randy Meisner was a member of the bands Poco and Rick Nelson’s Stone Canyon Band before co-founding The Eagles . After leaving the band in 1977, he pursued a solo career and released several albums, though none achieved the massive success he had experienced with The Eagles .

Don Felder, originally from Gainesville, Florida, joined The Eagles in 1974 as a guitarist. He was brought in during the recording of the band’s third album, “On the Border,” and remained with them until his controversial firing in 2001. Felder contributed to several iconic songs, most notably co-writing “Hotel California,” where his guitar work is prominently featured. He played on all the albums from “On the Border” (1974) through “The Long Run” (1979), as well as the reunion album “Hell Freezes Over” (1994).

In addition to his time with The Eagles , Felder has had an active career as a session musician and solo artist. His most noted solo work is perhaps his 1983 song “Heavy Metal (Takin’ a Ride),” which was featured in the animated film “Heavy Metal.” He has also released solo albums, including “Airborne” in 1983 and “Road to Forever” in 2012. Felder authored an autobiography titled “Heaven and Hell: My Life in The Eagles (1974-2001),” detailing his years with the band.

Everyone loves Joe Walsh. The legendary guitarist Joe Walsh was born in Wichita, Kansas. He joined The Eagles in 1975 as a guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist, effectively replacing Bernie Leadon. He was an essential part of the band’s transition from country-rock to a harder-edged rock sound. Walsh contributed to the band’s later albums like “Hotel California” (1976) and “The Long Run” (1979), and was a key part of the band’s various reunions and tours, including the “Hell Freezes Over” album in 1994.

One of Walsh’s most iconic contributions to The Eagles is the guitar solo in “Hotel California,” which he co-wrote. His energetic stage presence and distinctive guitar work became integral to the band’s sound and live performances.

Outside of The Eagles , Joe Walsh had already achieved fame with the James Gang and as a solo artist before joining the band. Songs like “Rocky Mountain Way” and “Life’s Been Good” are considered rock classics. Walsh has also had a prolific solo career and has been a sought-after session musician. He has released several solo albums, both before and after joining The Eagles , and has collaborated with a wide range of artists from various genres.

Timothy B. Schmit

Timothy B. Schmit, hailing from Oakland, California, became a member of The Eagles in 1977, replacing Randy Meisner as the band’s bassist and vocalist. Schmit’s first album with the band was “The Long Run” (1979), where he sang lead vocals on the song “I Can’t Tell You Why,” which he co-wrote. He also participated in the “Hell Freezes Over” reunion album in 1994 and remained with the band for subsequent tours and projects.

Schmit’s soothing vocals and harmonies enriched the band’s sound, and he became a significant contributor to the band’s later years, including during their long-lasting reunion periods.

Before joining The Eagles , Timothy B. Schmit was a member of the country-rock band Poco, where he had replaced Randy Meisner as well. After The Eagles initially disbanded, Schmit launched a solo career and also worked as a session musician, lending his vocals to hits like “Africa” by Toto and “Fire and Rain” by James Taylor. He has released several solo albums, showcasing his talents as a singer and songwriter separate from his work with The Eagles.

Vince Gill, born in Norman, Oklahoma, joined The Eagles in 2017 after the passing of Glenn Frey. Gill shares lead vocal and guitar duties, particularly covering songs that were originally sung by Frey. He was officially integrated into the band’s lineup for the “An Evening with the Eagles” tour. His experience in country music, along with his accomplished guitar skills, provided a rich layer to the band’s iconic country-rock sound.

While Vince Gill is a newer member of the band, his music career is incredibly extensive and predates his involvement with The Eagles by decades. Gill is an accomplished country musician, with more than 20 studio albums to his name. He has won 21 Grammy Awards and is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. Gill’s country credentials and versatility as a guitarist and vocalist make him a fitting addition to The Eagles’ legacy.

Deacon Frey

Deacon Frey, son of founding Eagles member Glenn Frey, also joined the band in 2017 for the “An Evening with the Eagles” tour, following his father’s death in 2016. Deacon performs rhythm guitar and shares lead vocal duties, especially on songs that were closely associated with his father. His resemblance in both appearance and voice to his late father has been noted as giving a sense of continuity to the band while honoring Glenn Frey’s legacy.

Prior to joining The Eagles, Deacon Frey was not a widely-known musician but had performed with his father on a few occasions. The emotional weight of him stepping in for his late father added a poignant dimension to The Eagles’ concerts and was met with positive reception from fans and critics alike. Joining The Eagles has been Deacon’s major introduction into the professional music scene, and he has been praised for his performances, capturing a balance of nostalgia and fresh energy in the band’s recent tours.

MUSICIANS WHO HAVE TOURED WITH THE EAGLES

Joe Vitale, a native of Canton, Ohio, has been a touring musician with The Eagles but was never an official member. He has primarily played drums, keyboards, and has contributed backing vocals. He has an especially close working relationship with Joe Walsh, having performed on several of Walsh’s solo records and tours. He has not played on any official Eagles albums, but his contributions have been more in a live capacity during different touring periods.

Outside of his association with The Eagles, Joe Vitale has had a versatile career as a session musician and has released several solo albums. He has collaborated with a wide array of artists including Crosby, Stills and Nash, Ted Nugent, and Peter Frampton among others. He is also known for his songwriting, notably co-writing Walsh’s hit “Rocky Mountain Way.”

Timothy Drury

Timothy Drury was born in Los Angeles, California, and toured with The Eagles as a keyboardist and backing vocalist. Although he was never an official member, his contributions were mainly seen during live performances, specifically during the ’90s. Drury added texture and depth to the band’s sound with his keyboard playing and has been a part of live album recordings.

Besides The Eagles, Drury has had an extensive career working with other big names in the industry, including Whitesnake and Don Henley in his solo career. He is also a composer and has released his own solo work which often includes multimedia components, like visual arts along with the music.

Al Garth was primarily a session and touring musician for The Eagles, contributing on violin and saxophone. Though not an official member of the band, his musicianship added a different layer of texture to the band’s sound in live settings. He played in various tours but did not feature on any studio albums by The Eagles.

Garth has had a broad career as a session musician, playing in numerous other bands and orchestras across genres. His multi-instrumental skills have made him a versatile and valuable musician in both studio and live settings.

Bill Armstrong

Bill Armstrong is lesser-known compared to other musicians associated with The Eagles and was never an official member of the band. He has served as a trumpet player during live performances, adding to the horn sections during specific tours.

Outside of his association with The Eagles, information about Armstrong’s musical career is relatively limited. He is mostly known as a session musician, contributing to horn sections for various bands and artists.

Chris Mostert

Chris Mostert toured with The Eagles as a saxophonist, although he was never an official member of the band. He contributed his skills primarily in a live setting, enriching the band’s sound during concerts. Like many of the other touring musicians, Mostert did not feature on any of The Eagles’ studio albums.

Mostert has a career as a session musician and has played with other notable acts. His saxophone skills are versatile, making him a sought-after musician for live performances across various genres.

Greg Smith has had a stint as a touring musician with The Eagles, playing the saxophone and adding depth to their live horn sections. Though he never became an official member of the band, his contributions were focused mainly on live performances.

Aside from his work with The Eagles, Smith has an extensive career as a session musician, contributing his saxophone skills to numerous other artists and bands across a range of genres. His talent has made him a go-to musician for both studio recordings and live performances.

Les Lovitt joined The Eagles’ touring ensemble as a trumpet player, but was never an official member. His contributions were primarily made during live performances, augmenting the band’s sound with his trumpet.

Lovitt has had a career as a session and live performance musician, working across various genres. He’s been a part of orchestras and jazz ensembles and has also made contributions to other rock and pop acts as a horn player.

Scott F. Crago

Scott F. Crago has been a longtime contributor to The Eagles as a touring drummer and percussionist. Though not an official member, his role has been vital in recreating the band’s complex studio sounds in a live setting. His drumming skills have been utilized to flesh out the rhythmic complexities of Eagles songs during live performances.

Outside of his work with The Eagles, Crago has had a lucrative career as a session drummer, lending his talents to a wide array of artists in various genres. His skillset has made him a sought-after drummer for both studio recordings and live gigs.

Steuart Smith

Steuart Smith was brought into The Eagles to fill in for Don Felder after his departure. Though not an official member, Smith has been a significant part of the band’s touring lineup since the late 1990s. He contributes primarily as a guitarist and is known for his exceptional skill in recreating the band’s iconic guitar sounds during live performances.

In addition to his work with The Eagles, Smith has an impressive list of credentials as a session musician, and he has worked with a multitude of other artists and bands in a variety of genres.

Will Hollis

Will Hollis served as a keyboardist for The Eagles’ touring lineup. His role was to supplement the band’s live sound, particularly focusing on keys and synthesizers. Hollis’ musicianship was key in helping to emulate the intricate studio productions of The Eagles’ songs in a live concert setting.

Hollis has also had a career outside of The Eagles, serving as a session musician and touring keyboardist for various other artists. His extensive experience makes him a valuable asset in both studio and live settings.

Michael Thompson

Michael Thompson, though not an official member of The Eagles, contributed as a touring musician, specializing in keyboards. His role was especially important in bringing depth and dimension to the band’s live performances, helping to capture the essence of their studio recordings on stage.

Thompson is also an accomplished musician in his own right, having played with a variety of other acts and contributed to numerous studio recordings as a session musician. His versatility has earned him roles in different musical settings, from pop and rock to jazz.

Linda Ronstadt was never a member of The Eagles. What you saw was a guest appearence, Linda Ronstadt was a huge star in 1976.

FOR over 50 years, The Eagles have been a rock band sensation with no plans on slowing down anytime soon.

Over the years, the band has won six Grammy Awards and five American Music Awards and is about to embark on their latest tour named after their fifth studio album, Hotel California.

Over the years, The Eagles have seen different musicians come in and out of their band since their debut in 1971.

Guitarist and singer Glenn Frey passed away in 2016 at the age of 67.

At this time, Henley is the only remaining founding member of the band.

The Eagles are headed to the Las Vegas Sphere for eight shows this fall

The Eagles are touching down in Las Vegas.

The long-running rock band announced Thursday that it will play eight shows at Sphere, the $2-billion venue with the wraparound video screen just off the Vegas Strip, over four weekends this fall starting Sept. 20. Tickets for the concerts, the last of which is scheduled for Oct. 19, are set to go on sale June 21 (though presale access will be available to various groups as early as June 18).

The Sphere residency ostensibly comes as part of the Eagles’ so-called Long Goodbye, a farewell tour that launched in September — seven years after the death of co-founder Glenn Frey — and stopped at Inglewood’s Kia Forum for four nights in January.

The Eagles, with some help from special guest J.D. Souther, began their Long Goodbye to L.A. audiences with a sold-out show at the band’s ‘home field.’

“Welcome to whatever this is,” singer Don Henley said with a smile to greet the crowd at the first of those Forum gigs. The band has said it will keep adding dates according to audience demand.

The Eagles will become the fourth musical act to play Sphere following U2 , which opened the building last year, Phish and Dead & Company, which is in the middle of a 30-show residency set to run through mid-August.

Last week the venue made news when a Phish fan said he’d received a letter from Sphere prohibiting him from entering the venue after he posted a video of himself taking a bong hit during a concert. Sphere later said it had rescinded the ban.

The Eagles are officially coming to the Las Vegas Sphere: Dates and ticket details

The Eagles’ long and winding road to goodbye will go through Las Vegas this fall.

The band will become the fourth act to play the snazzy Sphere when their farewell tour, The Long Goodbye , pulls into the venue for eight dates: Sept. 20-21; Sept. 27-28; Oct. 11-12 and Oct. 18-19.

Tickets for the shows will go on sale at 1 p.m. ET June 21 at eagles.com. Tickets start at $175 (all-in pricing).

Registration for the band's presale is available now on the Eagles' site. The presale begins at 1 p.m. ET June 18, while a Live Nation presale starts at 1 p.m. ET June 20. A limited number of VIP packages will also go on sale at 1 p.m. ET June 18 on the band's website.

The Eagles playing the Sphere hasn’t been the best-kept secret . In May, James Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment Co., mentioned on an earnings call the Eagles would be the next act to explore the creative and visual opportunities that come with playing the nine-month-old venue.

The band, which kicked off its farewell tour in September, will follow rapturously received residencies by U2, who christened the venue last fall, Phish and, currently, Dead & Company .

The Grateful Dead offshoot band fronted by Bob Weir and including John Mayer and Mickey Hart, are in the midst of a recently expanded 30-date run that will wrap Aug. 10.

All three of the acts who have parked at the Sphere have captivated crowds with awe-inspiring visual elements – rolling video that makes the room feel as if it’s moving, band images incorporated into TV sets, walls of backstage passes that envelop the inside of the venue – projected onto the 160,000-square-foot LED screen that wraps the interior.

The Eagles , currently touring Europe, have a set list stocked with their more laid-back hits in the first half (“Take it Easy,” “One of These Nights,” “Take it To the Limit”) that builds to rollicking rockers including “Life in the Fast Lane” and “Already Gone” as the show continues.

Eagles Touring Members: The Band Behind the Band

When a group lasts as long as the Eagles , evolution becomes a necessity. While growing and stretching in artistic ways helps keep the creative spark alive, it also creates challenges in the live setting.

For the Eagles, being able to bring decades worth of dynamic and influential songs to the stage required added musicians. While not official members, these rockers remain in the background, adding layers and depth to the group’s iconic catalog of tunes.

But their contributions are not limited to the live setting. These touring members have added to the group off-stage as well, thanks to their involvement in recordings and various solo efforts.

Unsurprisingly, the Eagles have been very particular about who they’ve allowed into their inner circle. Here’s a look at the touring members who’ve helped make the band one of rock’s most engaging acts.

Corey’s first experience within the Eagles’ orbit came in 1978 when he contributed vocals, guitar and keyboards to the self-titled debut album of former member Randy Meisner . Nine years later, he get involved in another solo effort, delivering guitar, keys and bass on Don Henley ’s The End of the Innocence , while also receiving songwriting credits on the tracks “The Last Worthless Evening” and “Gimme What You Got.” The rocker would join Henley’s band, touring in support of the hugely successful 1989 LP.

When the Eagles reunited in 1994 for their first tour in 14 years, Henley brought Corey into the fold. Thus, the multi-instrumentalist appeared on the ensuing ‘94 live album Hell Freezes Over . He also contributed to Henley’s 2000 solo effort, Inside Job . Aside from the Eagles, Corey has worked with such vaunted artists as the Who , Rod Stewart , the Knack and Eddie Money .

Scott Crago

When the Eagles agreed to reunite in ‘94, they knew they’d need some additional musicians to fill out the touring lineup. The band auditioned 10 drummers, with Henley keenly watching over the process. One of those who auditioned was Scott Crago.

“To fit into a band that’s that big, I don’t think they needed somebody else to come in and compete as being a fifth Eagle, a sixth Eagle,” Crago later recalled in an interview with drumstick company Vic Firth. “They brought me in knowing that I could just come in and do the job and not take away from who Don Henley is, and who Glenn [Frey] and Joe [Walsh] and those guys were.”

Still, his arrival wasn’t without incident. Crago’s first rehearsal with the band was on the song “New York Minute.” When Henley stopped the song midway through and suggested the drummer “listen to this song one more time,” Crago assumed he’d immediately lost the gig. “I turned white,” the rocker recalled to Modern Drummer , adding that he had an “immediate stomach ache.” “It felt like a failure.” Still, the drummer went and listened to the song “about 600 times” to ensure he’d never mess it up again. Since then, he’s been a steady member of the Eagles’ larger faction, appearing on the Hell Freezes Over live LP, the 2003 single “Hole in the World” and the 2007 album Long Road Out of Eden . He also co-wrote the song “Everything Is Different Now,” featured on  Inside Job .

Steuart Smith

Guitarist Steuart Smith initially appeared on Henley's  Inside Job . Impressed by the musician’s impressive acumen, Henley set up a jam session alongside Frey in the hopes of bringing Smith into the Eagles touring band. After running through a handful of songs, Henley thanked Smith and said that he and Frey would need to discuss further steps. “I looked at Glenn and I said, 'What do you think?,'” Henley recalled. “And he went, 'Bingo.' He said, 'That's the guy.'"

Smith is credited on five songs 2007's Long Road Out of Eden , while also sharing producing duties for the LP. The musician’s contributions to the Eagles have not been lost on the group’s core members or their fans.

"Steuart's quite a musician, and he's added a lot of much-needed creative spark to the band," Henley told The Washington Post in 2003. "He's incredible, one of the best I've ever seen and one of the few people who could have stepped into this position and handled it as gracefully as he has. The thing that is most gratifying to me is that the crowds seem to love him: They applaud him vigorously every night and when he's introduced, they chant his name."

Smith’s additional work has included work with Shawn Colvin, Rodney Crowell , Nils Lofgren and fellow Eagles auxiliary member Vince Gill . He also played a key role in Henley’s 2015 album, Cass County .

Michael Thompson

One only needs to look at the credits for Glenn Frey ’s 2012 LP After Hours to understand Michael Thompson’s Swiss Army knife-like musical ability. The musician recorded eight different instruments on the release, while also serving as one of the album’s producers. In a 2012 interview with the Los Angeles Times , Frey credited Thompson with helping the singer discover new ways to interpret his classic hits. The musician has enjoyed a similar role with the Eagles, working as the band’s jack-of-all-trades since 2001, including multiple contributions to Long Road Out of Eden .

As one of the most in-demand session musicians in Hollywood, Thompson’s long and impressive resume includes work with many of the biggest names in music. including  Ringo Starr , Eric Clapton , Hall & Oates , Bob Seger , Stewart Copeland , the Bee Gees , Steve Perry , Phil Collins . He’s also released three studio LPs with the Michael Thompson Band.

Will Hollis

Keyboardist Will Hollis joined the Eagles touring band in 2001. Over that same timespan the musician also supported Frey and Henley during their respective solo tours. In addition to nearly two decades of live performances, the keyboardist also contributed to the Eagles’ 2007 LP Long Road Out of Eden . Outside of the band, Hollis has worked with artists such as Rod Stewart and Tonic. He also served as the musical director for Dancing With the Stars the Tour in 2007 and 2008, and America’s Got Talent Live in 2011.
