In 2023, fans of the '80s will want to book these rad cruises that are packed with nostalgia—and some of the best parties and performances around.

Read update

14 Totally Tubular '80s Theme Cruises To Book In 2023

Those who love to live it up on the high seas and have a nostalgic connection to everything borne of the 1980s will no doubt want to book one of these amazingly awesome themed cruises making a splash in 2023. Running the gamut from hair band nostalgia to R&B grooves and perennially pop culture cornerstones like Star Trek, Golden Girls, and Soul Train, these epic cruises offer vacationers a chance to channel the best of the '80s; whether it’s with day-glo Lycra or big hair blowouts; dancing in hammer pants or getting loose in leg warmers, these rockin’ parties on the high seas have it all for cruise lovers that are also super fans of the most (totally) tubular decade.

From the ultimate 80s rock cruise to classic TV show themes from that unbeatable era (and more), here are a handful of the best cruises in the world for people who want to sail the seas while reminiscing about the good ol' days.

UPDATE: 2023/04/08 18:51 EST BY OSCAR APONTE

For most people, the 80s were the best time for entertainment and American culture, when hairspray was the norm and there was no such thing as "too much color". For anyone wanting to experience the good ol' days again, or to understand what all the fuss is about, some themed 80s cruises bring the decade back to life in unforgettable trips across the seas. That's why this list has been updated to include more options and refresh the information for upcoming dates.

14 The 80s Cruise 2024

Travelers who absolutely love everything the raddest decade has to offer will undoubtedly want to set sail with this rockin’ all-inclusive cruise that’s been a perennial favorite for the last six years. Including seven days/nights of epic concerts from 80s icons like Soft Cell, Air Supply, and Debbie Gibson, this totally tubular jaunt also ups the vibes with appearances from fan faves (and original MTV VJs!) like Mark Goodman, rad rockin’ parties, events, and celebrity meet-ups—making it one of the top themed cruises of the 2020s.

11 Ultimate Disco Cruise

Disco may have died in the 70s: however, many of the era’s most iconic stars continued their reign into the awesome 80s; and this epic disco cruise is just one example of how multi-decade crossover results in some of the best entertainment around.

Departing Miami for a party on the high seas, this star-studded event is positively packed with some of the biggest crossover stars—think Billy Ocean, Kool & the Gang; KC and the Sunshine Band; C&C Music Factory, and more—for the ultimate cruise and groove adventure.

Unfortunately, there are no plans for the Ultimate Disco Cruise to set sail again in 2023, and they've announced a 2024 hiatus. But be sure to keep updated on their website for their return in 2025 with this amazing 80s cruise and their itinerary.

Past 80's cruises have taken place on board the Celebrity Summit Ship, which stands out for its wine cellar and lounging areas.

10 80s Themed Cruises From Oz Cruising

Love the land down under and the 1980s? Then Oz Cruising is the place to book an epic 80s adventure in 2023.

With a total of two, three-night cruise options (one departing Sydney and one departing Brisbane), vacationers can have their choice of disco-balled departures and hop onboard for a blast from the past—all accompanied by lavish amenities, luxe surroundings, and a totally tubular trip back in time on this surprisingly affordable cruise (which could even count itself among the most budget-friendly cruises in the world ).

  • When: February 22 - 29, 2024
  • Where: Departs from Port Canaveral with stops in Aruba and Curaçao

7 The Beach Boys Good Vibrations Cruise

Few bands encapsulate the cool(er) side of the 1980s than the Beach Boys—but instead of heading to the famous Kokomo, this five-night, budget-friendly vacay takes a tubular trip from the US East Coast to paradisiacal locations in the Caribbean. And, if an appearance from the Beach Boys wasn’t enough, the onboard vibe gets even cooler with the likes of The Temptations, The Righteous Brothers, and more—totally rad!

There are no immediate plans for the Beach Boys to set sail again, but with the roaring success of the early 2023 cruise, there's bound to be another itinerary real soon, hopefully aboard the Norwegian Pearl again, so keep on the lookout for the cruise's website .

See how much it costs to go on a five-day cruise on average and budget for the trip in advance.

6 Soul Train Cruise (2024)

Everyone who’s anyone knows that the chill vibes, iconic fashion, and epic dance moves of Soul Train didn’t just make their mark in the 70s—but continued well into the 80s (and beyond!), too.

And now, cruise fans can have the classic R&B vacay of their dreams onboard the famously large and luxe New Amsterdam, complete with performances from Boyz II Men, The Temptations, and of course, the Original Soul Train Dancers. The magic of a cruise vacation is created with culinary delights, exotic ports of call, comfortable accommodations, carefully curated spaces and, of course, parties. These onboard celebrations can take many forms: large dance parties and quiet lounges, family-friendly and adults-only, adrenaline-pumping and relaxing activities, elegant and come-as-you-are events, and entire ships transformed into themed cruises .

Prepare for fun times on the following ships hosting the best party cruises at sea.

How much are stanley cup tickets to see the panthers vs. oilers.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

This year’s Stanley Cup is the tale of two franchises.

In their 30 years of existence, the Florida Panthers have yet to take home the high-status trophy even though they’ve been to the big dance twice before. Last season, Sam Reinhart, Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov’s squad got close but couldn’t close the deal when they lost in five games to the Vegas Golden Knights.

As for Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman and the Edmonton Oilers , they’ve been in a bit of a Stanley Cup drought after their dominant run in the ’80s when they won five (!) Cups. Most recently, they suffered a seven-game defeat at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2006 Stanley Cup.

Needless to say, no matter who wins it all this year, one team is going home very happy.

And if you want to be there to root on either Paul Maurice’s Panthers or Kris Knoblauch’s Oilers, it isn’t too late to pick up last-minute Stanley Cup Final tickets.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on tickets for home games at the Panthers’ home Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, FL cost $410 before fees on Vivid Seats.

Tickets start at $618 USD before fees to see the Oilers on their ice at Edmonton, Alberta’s Rogers Place.

Clearly, they’re not puckin’ around. This is a guaranteed high-stakes series with hockey history on the line.

Want to see the Florida Panthers bring home their first Cup IRL? Or are you hoping to catch the Edmonton Oilers return to their ’80s glory live?

Either way, we’ve got everything you need to know and more about the 2024 Panthers vs. Oilers Stanley Cup below.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Florida Panthers Stanley Cup 2024 tickets

A complete calendar of all Florida Panthers home game playoff tickets at the Amerant Bank Arena including dates, start times, and links to the cheapest tickets available can be found here:

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Edmonton Oilers Stanley Cup 2024 tickets

Located in Edmonton or want to go to a game on the road?

Below, you’ll find a breakdown of everything you need to know — dates, start times, and links to the cheapest tickets available — for home games set to take place at the Oilers’ Rogers Place.

Panthers-Oilers 2023-24 regular season record

Over the course of the regular season, the Panthers swept the Oilers.

In their first matchup, Florida won 5-3 on Nov. 20, 2023 behind goals from Niko Mikkola, Kevin Stenlund, Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Bennett.

The season series came to a close on Dec. 16, 2023; the Panthers defeated the Oilers 5-1 that evening.

To advance to the Stanley Cup, Florida beat the No. 1-seeded New York Rangers in a cutthroat six-game Eastern Conference Finals series; Edmonton handily defeated the Dallas Stars in six as well.

How to watch the Panthers and Oilers on TV

Fans hoping to catch the Paul Maurice and Kris Knoblauch’s squads from the comfort of their own home are in luck.

All games will be broadcast on ABC; just make sure to check your local listings before tuning in. For those that prefer to stream, ESPN+, Sling or Fubo should do the trick.

Huge concerts in 2024

After the Cup comes to a close, many of the biggest names in music will be on the road all year long.

Here are just five of our favorites that we can’t wait to see live these next few months.

•  Pearl Jam

•  Tyler Childers

•  Hans Zimmer

P&O Cruise Australia to shut down after almost a century of voyages

One of Australia’s most famous companies will be no more after a shock announcement today.

One of the most famous cruise liners to sail around Australia will be no more, with the shock announcement that P&O Cruises Australia will cease to exist from early 2025.

The family-friendly cruise brand will wind up operations after almost a century of voyages, its parent company Carnival Cruises announced on Tuesday.

Avid cruisers have told news.com.au they fear the “Aussie spirit” on board the beloved brand will be lost, with some fearing their holidays will never be the same.

The P&O Australia brand will instead be folded into Carnival Cruise Line, which has sailed across the South Pacific since 2013.

While the Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure ships, which are currently under the P&O banner, will carry on sailing under the Carnival name, the Pacific Explorer ship will no longer operate in Australian waters.

P&O Australia will be no more from early 2025.

A spokesperson for Carnival Cruise said current itineraries booked with P&O Cruises Australia will “operate business as usual” and guests will be “notified in the coming days” of any changes to future bookings as a result of the announcement.

Josh Weinstein, chief executive officer of Carnival Corporation & plc said the operating costs and the South Pacific’s “small population” had weighed in on the decision.

“P&O Cruises Australia is a storied brand with an amazing team, and we are extremely proud of everything we have accomplished together in Australia and the broader region,” Mr Weinstein said.

“However, given the strategic reality of the South Pacific’s small population and significantly higher operating and regulatory costs, we’re adjusting our approach to give us the efficiencies we need to continue delivering an incredible cruise experience year-round to our guests in the region.”

P&O Cruises Australia will continue operations until March next year before Carnival Cruises absorbs P&O customers on board one of their ships: the Sydney-based Carnival Splendour and Carnival Adventure, and Brisbane-based Carnival Encounter and Carnival Luminosa .

According to The Daily Telegraph , Christine Duffy — president of Carnival Cruise Line — travelled in from America ahead of the announcement, warning there would be job losses as a result of the decision.

“This is not an easy decision for the company to shut down or sunset the P&O Australia brand,” she said.

“We will continue to maintain an office here in Sydney. We don’t want to get into the numbers of people this impacts.”

Ms Duffy said there will be no immediate changes to the way passengers typically enjoy and experience a P&O ship, with “the same crew, the same entertainers, the same themed cruises and the same dining,” she said.

P&O Pacific Adventure will be folded and rebranded into Carnival Cruises.

It is understood alongside the rebrand, some of the biggest updates for passengers will be technology upgrades and other small changes to the ships.

“The most notable change will be the availability of our popular HubApp, enabling guests to make online dining and excursion reservations, request food and beverage delivery, and chat with other guests, among other features,” Ms Duffy explained.

“P&O Cruises Australia guests will also be invited to participate in Carnival’s loyalty program and promotional offerings specific to Carnival ships sailing in the region.”

It is understood that Carnival’s longstanding company executive Peter Little will

continue to lead the team in Australia.

P&O Pacific Explorer will fold into the Carnival Cruise brand.

As a much loved brand — especially among families — social media users were quick to share their sadness at the cruise brand’s closure.

“RIP P&O,” one wrote.

“So many memories on those ships,” another added.

“End of an era … Going on one this Friday better make the most of it,” another added.

“So sad to see the end of P&O – and especially sad to likely see the end of super cheap cruise prices.”

Avid Sydney cruiser Honida Beram who runs cruising blog Cruising with Honey and has been on more than two dozen P&O cruises in her lifetime.

Speaking to news.com.au, Ms Beram said the closure of the cruise brand was the “end of an era” and a “massive loss” for Australians.

There are fears the rebranding won’t give the same P&O vibe for passengers.

“The P&O legacy in Australia is synonymous with cruising in Australia. This is a huge loss, and the Aussie spirit will be lost in this amalgamation,” she said.

“P&O has made cruising accessible to families and for those at the lower end of market … given Aussies ability to holiday on a low budget and with low organisation.

“Carnival is the same price point but a very different type of cruising.”

Ms Beram said the biggest loss for her with the “Australian flare” the P&O brand offers to cruisers.

P&O Cruises are known as a popular family choice.

“I’m not sure how they [Carnival] will mirror that,” she explained.

“I think the P&O brand will be lost. When you go on a P&O there’s an instant connection and a laid back approach. You feel at home and comfortable.

“Carnival is a very different product to P&O. It’s a different vibe [so] it seems like there will be some mismatch there to bring people who are loyal P&O cruisers to go to Carnival.

What happens to current P&O Australia bookings

It’s perhaps the biggest question on the lips of many P&O cruisers who have bookings lingering in the next year or two.

What does this mean for current and future guest bookings made with P&O?

According to Carnival Cruises, business is “operating as usual and “there are no changes to any itineraries in 2024.”

While Pacific Explorer is leaving the fleet in February 2025, it is understood all guests with bookings that are affected are being notified this week.

“A small number of itineraries will be impacted on Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure as we transition the ships into Carnival Cruise Line operations,” the statement read.

“Our valued guests will be notified in coming days of any changes to bookings as a result of this announcement.”

A spokesperson from Carnival Cruises confirmed that guests booked to travel on the impacted itineraries have been offered a full refund or they can choose a Future Cruise Credit with bonus on-board spending money (value depend on length of cruise booked).

Don’t You Forget About These: 5 Defining Brat Pack Movies

With the documentary “Brats” coming to the Tribeca Festival and Hulu, here’s a look back at ’80s movies featuring young stars who defined a generation.

  • Share full article

Demi Moore wears a pink sleeveless dress and four strands of pearls. She holds a cigarette with a hand in a black glove.

By Mekado Murphy

The 1980s: when the hair was crimped, the pants were parachute and the movie stars were as fresh-faced as could be. The decade produced a surprising volume of hit coming-of-age movies, featuring actors often in their late teens and early twenties. Some of these charismatic stars would come to be known as the Brat Pack, a term coined by the writer David Blum in a 1985 New York magazine article about the youth movie phenomenon.

At the time, the stars who were considered a part of the Brat Pack were offended by the term, one that seemed dismissive of their work and painted them as careless and unprofessional. The actor Andrew McCarthy had been grappling for decades with how the term changed the trajectory of his career, and he decided to make a documentary about it. In “Brats,” which is premiering at the Tribeca Festival on Friday and streaming on Hulu beginning June 13, McCarthy reconnects with some of his ’80s co-stars (including Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy and Demi Moore) to discuss how being in the Brat Pack affected them, for better or worse.

Despite the negative connotations of the term, the Brat Pack movies truly did come to define a generation, and the documentary shines a light on what these movies meant, and still do mean, to young people (even as the culture has changed). While a dozen or so movies qualify as Brat Pack selections, below is a look at five of the most defining films for the moniker, and why they had such an impact.

‘The Breakfast Club’ (1985)

Detention has never been as fascinating as it is in this John Hughes classic, about five archetypal students forced to endure a Saturday together in the school library: the brain (Anthony Michael Hall), the athlete (Estevez), the basket case (Sheedy), the princess (Molly Ringwald) and the criminal (Judd Nelson). They trade jabs, laugh, cry and share personal stories that allow them to see one another as individuals rather than as the convenient labels placed on them.

It was, and continues to be, a kind of guidebook on how to endure as a teenager, especially when under pressure to act or present oneself a certain way. The performances are top-notch, especially from Ringwald, who turns her popular-girl character into one with whom we can all relate.

Stream “The Breakfast Club” on Max.

‘The Outsiders’ (1983)

Francis Ford Coppola’s film adaptation of the 1967 S.E. Hinton novel is in many ways the godfather of the Brat Pack movies. Its ensemble cast includes actors who would become some of the biggest stars of the decade: Rob Lowe, Matt Dillon, Patrick Swayze, Estevez and a little-known performer named Tom Cruise. The Tulsa-set film features C. Thomas Howell and Ralph Macchio as two “greasers” with tough backgrounds who find themselves in hot water after a tussle with wealthy “socs,” short for “socials.”

It’s a joy to watch all of these up-and-coming stars at the beginnings of their careers, navigating a story that Coppola punctuates with Hollywood flourishes that imbue some John Ford western energy into the mix. Even though many of these characters have never left Oklahoma, they seem to be carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. The film gives teen alienation a bold canvas on which to be explored.

Stream “The Outsiders” on Tubi.

‘St. Elmo’s Fire’ (1985)

This film, directed by Joel Schumacher, is another Brat Packer that sparks, if you will, because of its eager ensemble cast. What makes it so interesting is that its young characters are trying hard for a level of responsibility. But they keep tripping over their flaws of immaturity in the process.

Lowe, McCarthy, Nelson, Estevez and Sheedy are all in the mix (and Lowe’s character plays a mean saxophone), but one of the standouts is Moore. While her breakout was in the year prior with sex comedies like “Blame It on Rio” and “No Small Affair,” she really glows here as the character Jules, whose outgoing personality and garishness mask some deep psychological wounds. This is definitely not another sex comedy.

Stream “St. Elmo’s Fire” on Paramount+.

‘Pretty in Pink’ (1986)

Are you Team Blane or Team Duckie? This is a perennial question for those infatuated with this teen romance written by John Hughes and directed by Howard Deutch. Ringwald stars as Andie Walsh, a girl from a low-income upbringing who lives with her single father. She has a lifelong friendship with the quirky outsider Duckie (Jon Cryer) and a very new crush on Blane (McCarthy), a rich kid whom Andie is ashamed to tell where she lives. James Spader also plays a memorable role as Steff, a rich friend of Blane’s who treats Andie with disrespect.

And while Cryer is more Brat Pack-adjacent than an actual member, his character pretty much steals this movie with his outfits and his antics, including a lip sync and dance he performs in a record shop to Otis Redding’s “Try a Little Tenderness.” How can you not be Team Duckie after seeing that?

Rent or buy “Pretty in Pink” on major platforms.

‘Class’ (1983)

This comedic drama was significant for being McCarthy’s debut feature, where he also delivers one of his most heartfelt performances. His character, Jonathan, is met with obstacles from the moment he arrives at his new prep school. He is immediately talked into putting on a bra and panties by his roommate, Skip (Lowe), as part of what he thinks is a school tradition, and then is sent outside and locked out of the dorm while wearing them.

Things change for the unlucky-in-love boy when Skip gives him money to head to Chicago to try to meet and bed a girl in the big city. At a bar, Jonathan encounters an older woman (Jacqueline Bisset) and they hook up. Only later does he find out that the woman is Skip’s mother. The revelation is played more awkwardly and dramatically than comically. While Bisset delivers a tempered, yet passionate performance, the movie’s real chemistry is between McCarthy and Lowe, who seem to have a natural ease with each other onscreen.

Stream “Class” on the Roku Channel.

Stop Making Sense

As part of a strategy to build a new cinephile audience and revive the filmgoing experience in Brazil, São Paulo-based distributor O2 Play is theatrically releasing a selection of classic films, starting with A24’s 4K restored version of the seminal ‘80s Talking Heads concert docu, “ Stop Making Sense ” by Jonathan Demme.

The company has also launched an app called “carteirinha de cinéfilo” (cinephile card), to offer moviegoers special discounts, collectibles and foster the theatrical experience.

“I had already been chasing the film but when it was screened a few months ago at a small independent cinema run by director Kleber Mendonça (“Aquarius”) and it sold out within a couple of hours, I knew we were on the right track,” Kupstas told Variety.

O2 Play, which forms part of powerhouse production company O2 Filmes , owned by Paulo Morelli, Andrea Barata Ribeiro and Fernando Meirelles, is also planning to release a remastered version of the 2004 crime drama “The Edukators,” 20 years after making a splash in Cannes.

O2 Filmes is in development on a follow-up to the cult film with its director Hans Weingarten who resides in Brazil. Plans are for the co-production between O2 Filmes and Weingarten’s Kahuuna Films GmbH to shoot in Brazil, said Kupstas. The original, along with “Goodbye Lenin,” launched the career of actor Daniel Brühl, he noted. Brühl, Stipe Erceg and Julia Jentsch played three young activists who invaded wealthy homes and wreaked havoc as part of their anti-capitalist campaign.

“Living here, Weingarten was shocked at the much wider disparity among the social classes in Brazil which prompted him to write a new story,” said Kupstas.

O2 Play theatrically releases an average of 20 to 24 titles a year. Among its titles this year are Wim Wenders Oscar-nominated “Perfect Days” and Woody Allen’s latest film, the French-language romantic drama “Coup de Chance, slated for September.

O2 Play’s chief content officer Guto Gontijo and CEO Paulo Barcellos are attending Rio2C .
