Jerrod Lee Niemann, is a singer songwriter at the forefront of the country scene, being a multi instrumentalist with two country chart number 1 singles.

Originally from Harper Kansas, Niemann, (born July 24th 1979) built up his career with a lot of hard grafting and dedication. He competed in talent competitions at a very young age. He enrolled at the South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, on an Arts degree. He developed his sound playing in clubs and bars, gaining residencies as the Stockyard Saloon and the White Elephant Saloon. It was in 1999 that he decided to released his own debut album “Long Hard Road”, before moving to Nashville, Tennessee in September 2000. It was in his new home that he signed an artist management deal with Mercury Records, but didn’t release anything with them. Following this, he would go on to touring across the country, and then to Europe with the band, Kane, which featured the members, Steve Carlson and Christian Kane.

He was fortunate enough to sign with Arista Nashville’s Sea Gayle division, which was co-owned by Brad Paisley in 2010. He went on to release his debut single “Lover, Lover” in early 2010, which was originally a number one single in Australia in 1992. It went onto become Niemann’s first top 40 single in the country music charts, making it to number one. The album that this single featured on, “Judge Jerrod & the Hung Jury” made it to number 7 in the country charts and number 7 in the US Charts. Out of this album also spawned “What Do You Want” which made it to number 4 and “One More Drinkin’ Song” which made it to number 13.

Niemann’s following album “Free the Music”, released on October 2nd, 2012, made it to number 9 on the US Country chart, which features a track on the album which is a duet with Colbie Caillat, called “All About You”. The highest charting song was “Shinin’ on Me” which reached number 17 on the US Country Chart. Niemann’s fifth studio album, “High Noon” was released on March 25th 2014, and features his second number one hit “Drink to That All Night”. The album itself made it to number 3 in the Country Charts.

‘Everybody knows, its gonna be one of those, I can drink to that all night’…the opening lyrics of Drink to that All Night rang out acapella throughout the audience, and everyone fell quiet as the set began. With his three top selling Country music albums, Niemann knew how to work the crowd, and sang hit after hit, pleasing every single audience member.

Jerrod is a born entertainer, and from his solo performances with minimalistic guitar, to his huge sounds with the band, he brought down the house after every song. His band were tight, and it was evident that they’d been playing together for years, because at the nod of the head or the wink of an eye they’d change songs quicker than you could think possible. The flawless transitions left the audience astounded, the vibe was amazing. Jerrod played a really long set and maintained his energy throughout the entire performance, the stamina of the performers was incredible. After the last song, the crowd were cheering continuously and they came back for an epic encore. Niemann played What do You Want as his final track, there couldn’t have been a better ending. One of the most high energy, exciting shows I’ve been to.

Mercury Records Alumnus from Kansas, Jerrod Niemann is due to be the focal point of tonight’s attention, bringing to the table his own concoction of country and western music. He launches head first into a batch of songs that are from milestones of his career. The audience gets pretty animated when it comes to the song “Lover, Lover”, seeing this 500 capacity venue erupts in simultaneous dancing. “One More Drinkin’ Song” inspires punters to raise their glasses in celebration. I definitely felt as though that was the case in general with this whole evening. “Drink to That All Night”, is the huge sequential piece maintaining the party atmosphere that he’s created. Niemann somehow mellows out the evening with his song “Shinin’ on Me” in a solo piano rendition of the song. It is as though this whole audience has a red solo cup with some kind of mystery punch in by the end of the evening, there isn’t a frown in sight. “Lover, Lover” is a worthy closer of the night seeing everyone bouncing to this 120 bpm track, belting out the chorus.

Jerrod Niemann is a great singer, who's only downfall is still being an up and coming artist. As most of you know, artists sound different in person than on CD. Jerrod Niemann is no exception. He sounds different, but his voice is still great although not as powerful. Song wise, I was very disappointed. I've listened to his songs since his release of Lover Lover 4 years ago. He has some amazing songs, which a lot of them he did not perform. I was shocked that about 40% of the songs he sang were not even his. There were so many songs he could have done of his own, but he did not. Is the concert worth going to? Yeah, I'm glad I saw him once. Am I going to see him again? I might, but I'm in no rush and definitely won't spend much money on a ticket.

We went and saw Jerrod at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY on 4/27 (GREAT VENUE) and at D’Youville college on 4/28 (outdoor show) As always Jerrod puts on an AMAZING show! He is very engaging with the crowd and puts on a Rocking show! You don’t want to pass up the chance to him LIVE!!

Jerrod is amazingly talented and underrated! He always puts on a GREAT show and is very interactive with his fans! I’ve seen him many times and Love his energy! If you’ve never seen him, you’re missing out! Jerrod is an absolute MUST SEE entertainer!

“A lot has changed in the last couple of years,” he says. “I went through a divorce, and I took the opportunity to re-evaluate everything, personally and professionally, through the lens of what I do best—music.” That meant hunkering down in his Red Room, the writing room/studio/Fortress of Solitude in his home where life becomes art, and where he could revisit the attitudes and techniques of the creative burst that led to his storied breakthrough record.

Players from Japan, Finland Shuffling Around in Olympic Golf Ranking

The qualification period for the women’s golf competition at the 2024 Olympics ends June 24 following the conclusion of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and the world’s best female golfers are working hard to clinch their spot in the 60-player field at Le Golf National.

Competition has heated up in recent weeks, and while some athletes have played their way into the field in France, others have been knocked out of the top 60 in the Olympic Golf Ranking.

One of the most notable movements this past week involved Japan, as 2022 Women’s Scottish Open champion Ayaka Furue overtook six-time LPGA Tour winner Nasa Hataoka to claim the second Japanese spot in the ranking. Fellow countrywoman Yuka Saso essentially locked up her place in the field following her victory at this year’s U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally at Lancaster Country Club. The Paris Games will mark Saso’s second Olympic appearance and first for Japan.

Another big shake-up included Finland, which now has two athletes ranked in the top 60 of the Olympic Golf Ranking. Ecuador’s Daniela Darquea was replaced by Finn Noora Komulainen in the field, while Finnish player Ursula Wikstrom took Malaysian Natasha Andrea Oon’s place at Le Golf National.

Oon, the 2023 Gaelle Truet Rookie of the Year on the Epson Tour, announced on May 13 that she hasn’t been competing this season on the LPGA Tour due to a lingering foot injury that she’s continuing to work through. The 2024 LPGA rookie would have been vying for her first Olympic had she not been dealing with health challenges. The only player from Malaysia currently eligible to play in the Olympics is Ashley Lau of the Epson Tour.

In the top 15, the United States remains the only country with three or more representatives, as Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu and Rose Zhang are currently sitting at first, second and seventh, respectively, in the ranking. Australia, the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea have two players inside the top 15, with Hannah Green and Minjee Lee currently slated to represent the Aussies, Jin Young Ko and Hyo Joo Kim set to compete for Korea and Ruoning Yin and Xiyu Lin playing for China in Paris.

The final chance for the women to earn their spot in the field for Paris is next week’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Sahalee Country Club. Canadian Brooke Henderson, who’s currently qualified for the Games, won the event in 2016 – the last time it was held in Sammamish, Washington. Yin will look to successfully defend her 2023 title, a major victory that marked a first for the now 21-year-old.

Of all the players competing at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday last week, no one helped their case to make the 2024 Paris Olympics more than Canada’s Adam Hadwin. Hadwin, who has been locked in a tight race with Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith and Mackenzie Hughes to secure the second Canadian spot at the Olympics, finished third at the Memorial to skyrocket into the top 40 of the Olympic Golf Ranking (OGR).

The field for this year’s men’s Olympic competition will be finalized on Monday, June 17, following the conclusion of the U.S. Open. The top 60 in the OGR will consist of up to four participants per country within the top 15 of the ranking and up to two participants per country overall within the top 60.

Hadwin is looking to represent Canada at the Olympics for the first time after countrymen David Hearn and Graham DeLaet represented Canada at the 2016 Olympics and the same distinction was earned by Conners and Hughes in 2021. Hadwin and other Canadians vying for the second position will likely join Nick Taylor later this summer in Paris.

Elsewhere in the men’s OGR, Jorge Campillo overtook David Puig to claim the second position allocated to Spain alongside Jon Rahm. However, with Puig in the U.S. Open this week, he’ll have one last chance to surpass Campillo and reclaim the second position. Campillo currently stands at No. 116 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), which the OGR draws upon, just one position ahead of Puig (No. 117).

Paraguayan Fabrizio Zanotti re-entered the OGR at the coveted last spot (No. 60) and will look to hold on to that position for one more week. He is the only player in the projected field set to represent Paraguay and the seventh overall from South America (joining Argentinians Emiliano Grillo and Alejandro Tosti, Chileans Joaquin Niemann and Cristobal del Solar and Colombians Camilo Villegas and Nico Echavarria).

With one week and one major championship remaining before the qualification deadline, several players will look to make one final push to represent their nation later this summer in Paris.

Lions Signing Veteran LB

The Detroit Lions have made an addition to their defense as offseason workouts come to a close.

The organization has signed linebacker Ben Niemann during the final week of organized team activities. The signing was first reported by The Detroit News .

In a corresponding move, the Lions waived undrafted free-agent linebacker Steele Chambers.

Niemann has played six NFL seasons after going undrafted out of Iowa. His first four NFL campaigns were spent with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was with the Arizona Cardinals in 2022, then the Tennessee Titans and the Denver Broncos in 2023.

The Iowa product has played 86 career games, with 21 starts over his six-year career. With the Chiefs, he played in 62 games with 12 starts. Meanwhile, Niemann played all 17 games with nine starts for the Cardinals in 2022, then logged seven games with the Broncos in 2023.

Defensively, Niemann has 239 career tackles, with two sacks and eight tackles for loss. He is listed as an inside linebacker.

With the Broncos, he was exclusively a special teams player, and notched 134 snaps in that area. Niemann has played 1,380 special teams snaps in his career, which gives the Lions more experience in a phase they greatly value.

Detroit has a returning special teams All-Pro in linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin , who earned second-team AP honors and first-team NFLPA All-Pro honors for his work in that area.

Though Niemann did not suit up for the Titans in 2023, he was with the team throughout training camp. This gives him a connection to new Lions defensive line coach Terrell Williams, who previously held the same role with the Titans.

John Early and Olga Merediz have joined the cast of A24 ’s “ Eternity .”

The romantic comedy, in which people must decide who they want to spend eternity with, also stars Miles Teller (“Top Gun: Maverick”), Elizabeth Olsen (“WandaVision”), Callum Turner (“Masters of the Air”) and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”).

David Freyne (“Dating Amber,” “The Cured”) is directing the movie; Pat Cunnane (“Designated Survivor”) wrote the script, which appeared on the 2022 Black List.

Merediz is best known for originating the role of Abuela Claudia in the Broadway musical “In the Heights.” She was nominated for a Tony for her performance, and she reprised the role in Jon M. Chu’s film adaptation. Merediz also voiced a role in Disney’s animated musical hit “Encanto,” and her TV credits include “Orange Is the New Black” and “Shades of Blue.”
