Kem & Babyface to Embark on The Full Circle Tour With Host Sherri Shepherd

R&B legends Kem and Babyface are teaming up to hit the road together, and as an added bonus, longtime comedian Sherri Shepherd is set to host the musical festivities at each U.S. city.

Beginning March 30 at the Virginia State University Center, Kem and collaborator Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds are set to make 26 stops nationwide as part of The Full Circle Tour , named after Kem’s upcoming extended play titled Full Circle.  With highly anticipated performances in major cities including Baltimore, New Orleans, Atlanta, Orlando, Houston, Detroit, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, The Full Circle Tour is scheduled to culminate at the Oakland Arena in California on May 15. Tickets will be available for purchase via Ticketmaster with a presale starting on Jan. 26. General on sale begins on Jan. 28.

The tour marks the first of its kind by Kem, following the August 2020 release of his sixth studio album, Love Always Wins  [Motown Records] .  The 12-track project is just shy of a one-hour listen, and features fellow artists Brian Culbertson, Toni Braxton and Erica Campbell. He released the deluxe edition in September, featuring the same three artists and two remixes.

The Full Circle Tour comes in celebration of Kem’s forthcoming project; the official release date has yet to be announced.

Kem appeared on Billboard ‘s Artist 100 tally in 2014, peaking at No. 18 on the list, where he charted for four weeks. He has released three top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 chart. His 2010 project  Intimacy: Album III  debuted at No. 2, while his 2005 Album II  debuted at No. 5, and 2014’s Promise to Love: Album IV debuted at No. 3.

Kem and Babyface team for "Full Circle" Tour

January 24, 2022- Making a grand and long-awaited return to the road, three-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated multi-platinum R&B icon  KEM  will embark on  ‘THE FULL CIRCLE TOUR’  this spring with 12-time GRAMMY® Award-winning legend  Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds . It promises to be  KEM ’s biggest, most dynamic North American tour to date, and actress, comedian, author, EMMY® Award-winning host and television personality  Sherri Shepherd  joins as the evening’s host.

“The Full Circle Tour”  launches on March 30 at VSU Center in Petersburg, VA, and will captivate and entertain audiences as it rolls through arenas across the continent, concluding at Oakland Arena on May 15, 2022. The tour is in support of KEM’S upcoming  FULL CIRCLE EP  featuring the explosive single  “STUCK ON YOU.”

This notably marks the first tour between  KEM  and  Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds , uniting two R&B titans for one unforgettable run.

General on sale begins Friday, January 28, 2022 at 10am local time. A Special Pre-Sale goes live on Wednesday, January 26 at 10am local time.

Kem & Babyface To Hit The Road This Spring On 'The Full Circle Tour'

The recent resurgence in COVID cases had us going from #WeOutside to #GetBackInTheHouse real quick. Thankfully, some studies are showing that things could subside by spring — just in time for the many tours ready to hit a stage near you. Throwing their hats into the ring are singer-songwriters  Kem and  Babyface , who are set to thrill the grown and sexy with their romantic jams on their upcoming The Full Circle Tour.

The tour, named after Kem's upcoming album  Full Circle , will feature the two crooners mining their respective catalogs to woo and romance crowds across the United States with a kickoff set at the Virginia State University Center. From there, they'll crisscross the country while filling arenas from Baltimore to Philly, New Orleans to Houston, New York to Chicago, Vegas to Oakland and almost everywhere in between. But it won't just be the two musicians helping to move the crowd. Comedienne (and current  The Wendy Williams Show guest host) Sherri Shepherd will come along as the tour's host, warming up the crowd and entertaining between sets.

It looks like this tour will be one for the books and you won't want to miss it. Tickets will be available for presale starting January 26th  via Ticketmaster , with the general sale opening up to the public on January 28th at 10 a.m. local time. Babyface and Kem have announced their joint tour dubbed  The Full Circle Tour.

The tour, hosted by Sherri Shepherd , kicks off on March 30, at the VSU Multipurpose Center in Petersburg, Virginia.

From there, the R&B gents will travel across the U.S., hitting major cities such as Baltimore, Philadelphia, New Orleans, New York, Orlando, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The tour will conclude on May 15, at the Oakland Arena in Oakland, California.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. local time on ticketmaster.com .

Kem will be supporting his latest album,  Love Always Wins , which was reissued in 2021 with two new tracks. The album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart, includes his hit singles “Lie To Me” and “Live Out Your Love” featuring Toni Braxton .

Speaking on his Braxton-assisted tune, Kem told Rated R&B in an interview, “This record, in particular, I think some of that Marvin Gaye music was inspirational for sure.

It’s got a Marvin-esque vibe to it and I’m doing some of the classic Marvin licks just to pay homage, not to try to emulate but just pay respect to that genre and legacy.”

As for Babyface, the iconic singer/songwriter/producer was featured on Jam & Lewis’ 2021 debut album,  Jam & Lewis, Vol. 1 , on “He Don’t Know Nothin’ Bout It.”  Last year, he also shared his demo of The Whispers’ 1987 classic “Rock Steady,” under the moniker Lil Bayface .

In 2020, following his epic Verzuz celebration with Teddy Riley, he joined forces with Lucky Daye for his track “Shoulda.” 

It’s been some time since we’ve heard a new project from Babyface. In 2015, he released  Return of the Tender Lover .  A year before that, he teamed up with his longtime collaborator Toni Braxton for their joint album,  Love, Marriage & Divorce.  It won Best R&B Album at the 57th Grammy Awards.

Kem & babyface announces 26-city "the full circle tour".

Three-time Grammy nominated and multi-platinum R&B/Soul artist KEM is set to embark on a 26-city North American tour with Twelve-time Grammy Award-winning Legend Kenny 'Babyface' Edmonds and hosted by Emmy Award-winning television personality, comedian and author Sherri Shepherd titled "The Full Circle Tour".

"The Full Circle Tour" launches March 30 at VSU Center in Petersburg, VA and will run through May 15 at Oakland Arena in Oakland, CA.

The tour is in support of KEM's forthcoming EP Full Circle.

Kem & Babyface Announce “The Full Circle Tour With Host Sherri Shepherd

Kem and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds have just shared the exciting announcement that they will be embarking on a tour together this year. The tour is called “The Full Circle Tour” and will be hosted by personality Sherri Shepherd.

The tour will include nearly 30 stops across the U.S. and will kick off March 30th in Virginia. The tour will see the artists make stops in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, New York, Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles among other stops before wrapping up in Oakland on May 15th.

Fans will surely get to hear some of Kem’s biggest hits including songs from his most recently released album “Love Always Wins”. Meanwhile, Babyface is sure to share selections from throughout his timeless catalog of hits.

Babyface and Kem Announce ‘The Full Circle Tour’

January 24, 2022.

Babyface and Kem have announced their joint tour dubbed  The Full Circle Tour.

The tour, hosted by Sherri Shepherd , kicks off on March 30, at the VSU Multipurpose Center in Petersburg, Virginia.

From there, the R&B gents will travel across the U.S., hitting major cities such as Baltimore, Philadelphia, New Orleans, New York, Orlando, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The tour will conclude on May 15, at the Oakland Arena in Oakland, California.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. local time on ticketmaster.com .

Kem will be supporting his latest album,  Love Always Wins , which was reissued in 2021 with two new tracks. The album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart, includes his hit singles “Lie To Me” and “Live Out Your Love” featuring Toni Braxton .

Speaking on his Braxton-assisted tune, Kem told Rated R&B in an interview, “This record, in particular, I think some of that Marvin Gaye music was inspirational for sure.

It’s got a Marvin-esque vibe to it and I’m doing some of the classic Marvin licks just to pay homage, not to try to emulate but just pay respect to that genre and legacy.”

As for Babyface, the iconic singer/songwriter/producer was featured on Jam & Lewis’ 2021 debut album,  Jam & Lewis, Vol. 1 , on “He Don’t Know Nothin’ Bout It.”  Last year, he also shared his demo of The Whispers’ 1987 classic “Rock Steady,” under the moniker Lil Bayface .

In 2020, following his epic Verzuz celebration with Teddy Riley, he joined forces with Lucky Daye for his track “Shoulda.” 

It’s been some time since we’ve heard a new project from Babyface. In 2015, he released  Return of the Tender Lover .  A year before that, he teamed up with his longtime collaborator Toni Braxton for their joint album,  Love, Marriage & Divorce.  It won Best R&B Album at the 57th Grammy Awards.

Babyface (born on April 10, 1959) is the stage and recording name of R&B singer, songwriter and record producer Kenneth Edmonds from Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.

Born the fifth of six children, Edmonds began his musical excursions playing in local R&B bands around Indianapolis. During a stint in Bootsy Collins’ backing band, the singer earned the nickname “Babyface” for his childlike looks, however left soon after in 1977 to join the funk band Manchild who went on to release three albums together.

Around this time Edmonds met Antonio “L.A.” Reid and formed the urban funk outfit the Deele. The pair charted with a number of singles, however made more of a mark for their writing and producing for other artists with their label LaFace. The Deele split up in 1988 following the released of their third album, although continued to earn success with a string of hits with other artists including Bobby Brown’s “Every Little Step”, Sheena Easton’s “The Lover in Me” and Karyn White’s “The Way You Love Me”.

In an under-the-radar release, Edmonds issued his debut album “Lovers” in 1986, however it was his sophomore album “Tender Lover” where the singer’s solo success came to the fore. The album went double platinum and spawned the No. 1 single “It’s No Crime” and No. 2 single “Whip Appeal”. Edmonds subsequently worked and collaborated with some of the biggest artists around including Johnny Gill, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin with his biggest chart success coming from Boyz II Men. Around this time Edmonds’ and Reid’s label LaFace had become synonymous with lucrative and up-and-coming artists such as OutKast, TLC and Usher.

With such esteem and critical acclaim Edmonds took a step back from his solo work in the early ‘90s, with his next album arriving in 1993 with the name “For the Cool in You” and proved an even bigger hit than “Tender Love”, going triple platinum and earning Babyface his first top-five pop hit with “When Can I see You Again” which also earned the singer his first performing Grammy for Best Male R&B vocal.

In the run-up to the new millennium Edmonds' success well and truly blossomed with his scoring and producing of the “Waiting to Exhale” soundtrack, his 1996 album “The Day”, and his production on Eric Clapton’s “Change the World”, which he won his third successive Grammy as Producer of the Year for.

With the success of “Waiting to Exhale” Edmond focussed his attention of films and created his own film production company with wife Tracey Edmonds, subsequently making their film production debut with “Soul Food” in 1997. Babyface’s next musical releases came in the form of the seasonal “Christmas with Babyface” and the compilation “A Collection of His Greatest Hits” – marking his move to Arista Records, where L.A. Reid was an executive.

Edmonds' subsequent releases and collaborations have included the albums “Face2Face” (2001) and “Grown & Sexy” (2005), as well as the soundtrack for the film “Josie & the Pussycats”, and work with the likes of Lil Wayne, Vanessa Willaims and Anthony Hamilton. All in all making Edmonds one of the most highly respected and flexible musicians and producers of the R&B genre.

Live reviews

Hearing about a rapper initially making a name for himself by handing out t-shirts at his gigs, giving free CD’s to passers-by and kicking up a fuss by starting his own record label instantly gives me respect for Mike Jones. It’s not that easy any more for little-known acts to hold the attention of an audience, but I feel so directly tangled in the atmosphere that it’s almost as if I could be back stage by mistake. Gliding onto the stage with a cool ease, the music reminds me of my more preferred genre of old school 90’s rap – the era of Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube. Mike J is in control from the minute the beat drops. The room thunders with the vibration of dancing feet while Mike reaches out to the crowd and asks, “Who is Mike Jones?” Fists are pumping the air around the room and a dance-off takes place somewhere amongst the chaos while a sudden rush of backing dancers invade the stage. The flash of a hundred smart phones, the butt of the girl to my left ‘shaking what her momma gave her’ & each thrown back ‘WHO?!’ proves how much M.J’s game has been raised since leaving Souf Folk back in 2001. It’s not a minute in and the room already feels like a late night lock-in in downtown NYC. The air rapidly becomes hot with desire, making even the DJ’s sunglasses steam up. The walls glow red from the reflection of cheap light bulbs and the roof drips onto my shoulders like a scene from a surrealist painting. Starting the night off with newest track ‘Still Tippin’, M.J leads the night into an inferno of wild hand gestures. I’ve not made it to the bar before being forced back into the room by the tide. Everything around me crushes inward, each person desperate to get a glimpse of Lil Wayne, who’s rumoured to turn up tonight. It didn’t take me long to realise that Mike Jones is a respected artist who seems to know exactly what he’s doing when it comes to showmanship. Though the fact that each person on stage is wearing dark glasses reveals what I believe to be a hint of egotism, the general mood throughout the show doesn’t fail to get even the most unlikely of people on their toes. I continue to feel the pulse of hips around me as I leave the room. As I move to the back of the venue with my hands by my sides and eyes to myself I realise that it’s the audience who’ve taken control of the night. Mike is a droplet of water on the tree that is his audience – they shout and wail and move to each beat with a beautiful precision that seems more fascinating to me than the music itself. I highly suggest that future audiences take a step back and really listen to what the man has to say – even if it is just to call him on his Motorola and ask him what his name is.

If a Grammy Award is the solidification that you have made it in the music industry, consider for a moment that Indiana singer/songwriter and producer Kenneth Brian Edmonds has won eleven. The musician best known by the his stage name Babyface has been credited to producing over 25 R & B #1 hits as well as having his own commercially successful career and discography.

Now into his fifties, he shows great dedication to his fanbase and tours at a committed pace across the States and occasionally the rest of Europe. Standing proudly at the front of the stage surrounded by his impressively comprised live band, he begins the silky smooth introducing tones of 'For the Cool in You' followed closely by big hit 'Every Time I Close My Eyes'. After a number of his own impressive singles, he greets the audience and thanks them for their enthusiastic reaction so far before introducing a section of the concert dedicated to the songs Babyface has written and produced. These include 'Don't Be Cruel' 'Every Little Step' 'I'll Make Love to You' and 'End of the Road'. These evoke the largest singalongs of the night and end the show in a suitable manner as Kenneth enjoys the final applause.

OMG! Babyface put on such an awesome show! I was prepared for a laid back, grown up time, but he TURNED UP for real and we sung EVERY song right along with him! He sounded AWESOME and I promise you the man should have been a comedian on the side! He had us in tears laughing!

Babyface performance was Amazing he performed his Greatest Hit and the Songs he wrote for others that was hits too. I will cherish this night and and all the Great Moments.

The greatest performer ever!! He has such energy and great stage presence. The songs performed are awesome, definitely a must see!!! There is never a full moment during his performance. The band and backup singers are fabulous as well!!

Best concert ever!!! I want to see Babyface whenever he’s in my area. I have see him in Philadelphia at the Dell and in Atlantic City. He is a classy performer and dresses well unlike so many of the performers of today.

R&B Legends Kem and Babyface “The Full Circle Tour” Brings The Love to Philly Along With Sherri Shepherd

On Saturday, April 2nd, ThisIsRnB witnessed two of the biggest Icons, Legends, and keepers of R&B, Grammy Award-Nominated multi-platinum Kem, and  12x Grammy Award-winning Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds put on an absolutely phenomenal and unforgettable show in Philadelphia at the Liacouras Center.

After a long-awaited return to touring, both artists performed in exceptional grand style to a packed house. Designated “The Full Circle Tour,” in support of Kem’s new “Full Circle” EP and single “Stuck On You” a love letter to his wife.

With comedian, actress, author, and TV personality Sherri Shepherd serving as Mistress of ceremonies for the evening, we were thoroughly entertained as she kept the crowd roaring during the pre-show and set openings.

Arriving on stage sporting distinctive black sunnies, highlighting sounds from his massive music catalogue, Babyface took us on a musical journey beginning with his time with The Deele to his emergence as a solo artist, to one of the most sought-after producers.  With his signature redolent vocals on full display, Babyface exceptionally performed a medley of his heart-touching ballads and up-tempos songs that he produced and penned for himself and other great artists such as The Whispers, Toni Braxton, Usher , Bobby Brown , After 7, Tevin Campbell and so many more including the late great Whitney Houston, whom he paid tribute to at the end of his set.

Kem, the quintessential showman personified, captivated our hearts from the very first note. Meticulously dressed in a dapper tailored custom suit, he flawlessly delivered lyrics with precision and vibrancy, as beautiful breathtaking scenery displayed on the backdrop gave us life, tranquility, and peace, providing us with a window into his soul.

The charismatic and charming r&b soul singer served up love and intimacy as he serenaded with rousing hits from his uber-popular and crowd favorites such as “Love Calls Your Name,” “Stuck On You,” “Share My Life,” “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” “Lie To Me,” and countless others.  Swooning and feeling the love, KEM had everyone holding tight to their lovers. You could feel the love in the air.

Kem’s set was tight from the band including Philly’s own guitarist Randy Bowman to the classy dancers’ precision of movement, the extraordinary display of color, and the collage of scenes from popular dance shows, his life, and family including his childhood,  and exceptionally beautiful touching scenes from his recent marriage, it was a visually stunning show.

R&B veterans Kem and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds are returning to the road together. The two stars will embark on their joint “The Full Circle Tour” this spring.

Hitmaking songwriter and producer Edmonds — whose multi-platinum solo albums include "Tender Lover," "For the Cool in You" and "The Day" — has had a hand in more than 200 Top 10 R&B singles and over 50 Top 10 pop hits, including 16 No. 1 hits. A 12-time Grammy winner, Edmonds is set to receive a Grammy Trustee’s award — a lifetime achievement honor — in April.
