Harry Styles at Wembley: ‘Love on Tour’ timings, set list and everything you need to know

Our Harry is finally here in the capital

India Lawrence

When he’s not hanging out at the Hampstead Heath ponds or snogging supermodels, Harry Styles is usually off touring the world. With a rainbow and glitter-soaked bonanza ‘Love on Tour’ finally kicked off in London last night, as Hazza performed the first of four massive shows at Wembley Stadium, with support from Wet Leg.

What time will Harry Styles come on stage?

Doors open to Wembley Stadium as early as 4pm. Harry’s support act, Wet Leg, have been taking to the stage at around 7.20pm, with Hazza hitting the stage at around 8.30pm.

What’s the full setlist for Harry Styles’ ‘Love on Tour’?

The setlist is likely to look something like this, although it might change a little bit:

  • Daydreaming
  • Keep Driving
  • Stockholm Syndrome
  • Late Night Talking
  • Music for a Sushi Restaurant
  • Treat People With Kindness
  • What Makes You Beautiful
  • Grape juice
  • Watermelon Sugar
  • Sign of the Times

What are the reviews saying?

In 2022, NME gave ‘Love on Tour’ five stars, calling it a ‘powerful, inclusive and celebratory pop carnival’. The second time around, it's just as spectacular. Critics have lauded Harry Styles's heartwarming show, not only for the star's magnetic performance, but for the unique energy of the crowd that Styles manages to cultivate.

With a show featuring the  ‘world's kindest mosh pot’  The Evening Standard called Love on Tour at Wembley ‘joyful and life-affirming’, while the Daily Express said the concert was ‘a masterclass in modern pop’, adding that ‘Harry Styles is the popstar of a generation’.

Are there any tickets left?

This won’t come as a shock to anyone, but demand for Harry Styles tickets was extremely high.  However, there are still some available on Ticketmaster (at the time of writing), with the best dates being Tuesday June 13 and Friday June 16.

It’s not cheap though, prices start at £51 for obstructed view and go up to £226 for platinum tickets.

These are the best gigs in London this June.

Beloved Soho speakeasy Trisha's is under threat of closure.

Been there, done that? Think again, my friend.

There’s More Than One Way To Catch Harry Styles This Summer

Here’s everything we know about his upcoming UK gigs.

Harry Styles performs on the Coachella stage

As if last year wasn’t bad enough already – y’know, with the whole lockdown and everything – the final straw was Harry Styles cancelling his victory lap of second album Fine Line. Originally slated for April 2020, his postponed 2021 dates got cancelled, too, leaving fans longing for the live return of their sweet and resplendent prince. Fortunately things are finally looking up, with the star confirming Love On Tour 2022: a massive, 34-date epic. And after seeing Styles grace the Coachella stage in a sequin jumpsuit belting out I Will Survive with Lizzo , twinning in multicoloured Gucci coats, it’s safe to say we’re even more excited for his tour.

And things are looking up still, with the star’s Love On Tour 2022, a massive 34-date epic, right around the corner. The gift that keeps on giving, he’ll also be headlining Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Capital’s Summertime Ball — both firsts since pre-lockdown life. You’ll also notice that our Harold has graduated to some of the biggest venues going – he’s officially a stadium-level superstar for his UK dates.

It’s a good job there’s plenty of room as many of his UK dates have now sold out, with only some VIP packages available to buy. With tickets firmly in the hands of fans, here’s absolutely everything you need to know about Styles’ Love On Tour.

Harry Styles At Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2022

Styles will take the main stage on Sunday, May 29 at Coventry’s War Memorial Park. The Big Weekend line-up also includes Calvin Harris, Ed Sheeran, AJ Tracey, Sam Fender, Pa Salieu, Lorde, Mabel, Charlie XCX, Joy Crookes, and Koffee. If you don’t already have tickets, we only have bad news — they’re sold out.

Harry Styles At Capital’s Summertime Ball 2022

After a three year pause, the Summertime Ball will return to Wembley Stadium on Sunday, June 12, with Styles also headlining the stage. General release launched on Apr. 28 via the Globe Player app only. But more bad news, Capital’s festival has also sold out.

Harry Styles Love On Tour 2022 Dates

Starting in the summer, the singer’s biggest live outing to date kicks off at Glasgow’s Ibrox Stadium on Jun. 11, before taking him across Europe and South America for the rest on the year. After wrapping up his UK stadium dates, he’ll hop across the Irish sea to play Dublin’s Aviva Stadium. From there, it’s onto arenas across Europe.

After a quick rest-stop after the Lisbon date on Jul. 31 the tour will pick up again in late Nov. with a trio of Mexican shows. The star will also visit Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil.

To the delight of UK fans, it was announced on Jan. 27 that Styles has added two additional UK tour dates at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on Jun. 16, and London’s Wembley Stadium on Jun. 19.

Check out the full list of Harry Styles’ Love On Tour dates below. (Plus, extra dates for London and Manchester .)

Harry Styles Love On Tour 2022 Tickets

There’s still limited ticket availability for most dates, but not much. If you still have tickets for a previous date that’s been rescheduled, these are still valid for the new date.

Harry Styles Love On Tour 2022 Supporting Acts

One of the most heartbreaking things about Hazza’s various tour cancellations? Missing out on the incredible crew of artists he’d recruited to join the party: ranging from rising pop-head King Princess and the twisted rock-pop of Jenny Lewis through to Jamaican reggae champ Koffee.

Understandably, not everyone can make it along to the rescheduled tour, but once again the Once-Directioner has pulled it out the bag with his new line-up of support acts. If you’re planning on going to one of the UK stadium dates, prepare to warm up for the Styles by ugly-crying to the cinematic indie of Japanese-American singer-songwriter Mitski. By then, she will have released her forthcoming sixth album Laurel Hell, so you’re in for a real treat.

For the European dates, it’s a Mercury Prize winner-fest, with Wolf Alice and Arlo Parks – who have both won the prestigious songwriting gong in recent years – both joining the bill at various points. Arlo Parks, who also cleaned up at this years BRIT Awards, will bring her debut album Collapsed in Sunbeams to Styles’ Irish stadium show, while London indie heroes Wolf Alice will open for the rest of the European tour dates.

No change for the South American dates, meanwhile – with multi-talented singer, songwriter, rapper, and DJ Koffee opening the show.

Anything Else Noteworthy?

Well, beady-eyed stans may have noted with keen interest that there’s a quite convenient little tour break before Harry Styles heads off to the European mainland. Coincidentally it happens to overlap with this year’s Glastonbury, which takes place between Jun. 22–26 2022. Could it be quite easy to, say, swoop across to Worthy Farm for a festival slot on Friday or Saturday? It seems plausible.

Look, it’s all just gossip at this point, but if you’re reading this Harry Styles, it’d be rude not to drop by. Plus, he has a five stadium tour across Australia and New Zealand planned for 2023 .

A love letter to Harry Styles — is he the perfect pop star?

love on tour london

To gauge just how far Harry Styles ’ personal brand has travelled on the world stage in his 13 years of stardom, it’s worth glancing back to the pop star’s first X Factor audition. Then, Styles was a fresh-faced 16-year-old, working part time at a bakery near his family home, in the nice Cheshire hamlet of Holmes Chapel. Wearing a hoodie, plunging white t-shirt and a grey neck-scarf, he resembled an Inbetweener taking baby-steps toward Indie Sleaze; the boy everyone at school thinks will one day be famous. He kissed his mum on the cheek as she smiled her support.

Back then, Harry’s tepid render of Train’s Hey Soul Sister was interrupted by chief whip Simon Cowell , who told him to start again. He then opted for a heartfelt acapella rendition of Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely. In that moment, the audience fell head over heels in love with Harry, establishing everything they would want from him moving forward. They have stayed, exponentially multiplying ever since, crowning a sweet kid with curly hair who once talked about the Northern popularity of Viennese whirls on TV as one of the personal bellwethers of 21 st  century taste.

love on tour london

Starting tonight, Styles will take his Love on Tour shows for a four-night victory lap to Wembley Stadium, entertaining 360,000 adoring fans with his casual charisma. His third solo album, Harry’s House, was recipient of the 2023 Grammy for Album of the Year. The man who once needed four pals to place second below Matt Cardle in an ITV talent show is now global fame personified.

Harry Styles is a pop star in the 1970s pin-up sense of the profession, making highly likeable music which could easily slot into any decade since. He emerged in One Direction , the loose-fit boyband of five suburban teens who tapped some of the Bay City Rollers’ old energy and turned it into a modern Beatlemania, touched by the dutiful contemporary hysteria ignited by K-Pop. One of the band once told me a story of having to be smuggled out of the back of a New York hotel as a security risk, after collectively declining an invite by Donald Trump to meet his daughter.

Astonishingly, 1D stayed out of politics, mischief or major recrimination. As the country slowly imploded around them, these playful, pretty icons of hungry youth and ambition took a positive spin on wholesome Britishness to the world. Styles was 1D’s David Cassidy, their Donnie Osmond. He understood early on that because he had emerged from Saturday night, primetime TV, with a face the internet would do the hard marketing work with, he didn’t have to find an audience and persuade them of his charms, only to shape and expand his plentiful base.

As a performer, he is a bundle of generous, positive, slightly scrappy, even pleasingly amateurish energy. His great endearment is to appear in no way ruined or sullied by the pop machine, confidently floating above it, oblivious to what others are doing. Styles songs are neither destined nor designed to be venerated as all-time classics, bullet-proofing them from criticism. There is no search for profundity in the perfect glossy shimmer of Watermelon Sugar, As It Was or Music From A Sushi Restaurant. The restaurant in question could be Wagamama, where he came from, or Nobu, where he landed. He sings about sweetness, kindness, adoration. He loves a suggestive fruit metaphor for sex. A Harry Styles song is effervescent and lovely. It is constructed to remind you of a moment, or what it felt like to be alive in the 2020s, when he cut through the ballast of everyday turmoil to become king of the universe, simply by capturing his audience’s desires in a butterfly net.

One Direction | Harry Styles - In pictures

65th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles

A 1D affiliate once told me Harry watched Mick Jagger’s turn in Performance every night on the tour bus by way of education for his solo career. He has presented like a one-man Duran Duran, singing songs both crafted outside of, and authentic enough to define, fashion. Right from the start, he also had physical echoes of John Taylor, Duran Duran’s heartthrob bass player, whose first solo cover of the Eighties pop title, Smash Hits became the biggest-selling issue of the magazine. His music sounds expensive, svelte, well-intentioned and always prioritises physical pleasure over interior angst. Nobody wants to hear Harry Styles’ heartbreak record, making him a modern pop anomaly at the top tier.

While not quite religiously sticking to the Kate Moss ‘never complain, never explain’ mantra, Styles’ trajectory has proved a modern masterclass in being simultaneously ubiquitous and unknowable. He seems to do exactly the amount of personal publicity he desires, which isn’t much, giving away little personal detail when he does. At its most potent, fame is a blank, pretty canvas onto which we project our dreams. Standing together, collectively screaming at someone we love, for reasons which defy rational explanation is a primal urge. Styles feels both welcomed and humbled to become its most recognisable recipient. Nobody needed to reinvent the wheel with Harry, just to keep the engine purring, seasoning the journey with enough subtle gear changes to stealthily land him four nights at Wembley Stadium.

As a fashion plate, he is flawless, arriving into the public consciousness as a serious solo proposition at exactly the moment Alessandro Michele decided he wanted to bring the theatrical drama and inventiveness back to Gucci, anointing Styles the brand’s favourite patron saint. This mellifluous conjunction of brand and star elevated both. Styles always looks grateful to be there, if slightly dazzled by the clothes he’s wearing and the fuss that inevitably brings, without ever giving off the impression of being too grateful or unsure of himself to appear needy or desperate. He is disarmingly free of opinion and refreshingly good at being famous, quietly enjoying its spoils, rolling in its perks.

His artist’s positioning sits somewhere between thoughtfulness and tasteful, uncontroversial euphoria, never tipping an astutely aggregated balance, always casting a spell of immaculate ease with himself. In a pop landscape full of exposed flaws and open wounds, he represents a rare subset of personal contentment. In this respect, he might be the perfect pop star. For 90,000 screaming Harry Styles acolytes in London over the coming week, Wembley Stadium will prove the perfect backcloth to scream “thank you”, just for being him.

While it's nothing new, and we're certainly not complaining, Harry Styles ' name is inescapable right now.

Not content with claiming 2022's Official biggest song with As It Was , even bagging the Official Charts Double as the year's biggest LP Harry's House simultaneously hit Number 1, making moves in the beauty business with Pleasing and sweeping up at the BRITs and GRAMMYs , the One Direction star's now preparing to treat fans across Europe to Love On Tour all over again.

Harry Styles' next Love On Tour concert is Merkur Spiel-Arena, Dusseldorf, Germany on June 27th and June 28th 2023.

Following the success of his Coachella sets and One Night Only performances everywhere from New York to Brixton last year, Harry's rescheduled European concerts kicked off on Saturday June 11 2022 at Glasgow's Ibrox Stadium.

If you're off to see Harry at his next date at Coventry Building Society Arena and want to know which songs you can expect, keep reading. He's even switched up the setlist especially for the European leg, adding a new 1D Four album fan favourite.

  • Standing Pods (Hollywood, Jonny's Place, Bishopgate): £155.50-£326.30

Harry's London Wembley, Coventry, Edinburgh and Cardiff dates have five different standing ticket options - Hollywood pod, Jonny's Place pod, Bishopsgate pod, Front Pitch standing and Rear Pitch standing.

The pod names are based on places that are special and significant to Harry Styles. In his 2022 tour, the same pods were available - but were instead called the Kitchen, Bedroom and Hallway, as part of 'Harry's House'.

Prices vary depending on which standing option you go for. A pod ticket will set you back anything between £155-£326, whilst those who wish to stand for a cheaper price can select Rear Pitch standing for £76.25. These, however, do not include early entrance which is a different ticket option should you want to get in early and secure a prime view on the day.

How do I get Harry Styles tickets?

Tickets are available to buy in the General Sale which starts at 10am on Friday 2 September 2022 . You can purchase them via Ticketmaster and Livenation .

Some lucky fans were able to get presale tickets, which went live at 10am on Thursday 1 September 2022. However, further tickets should still be available to buy during the general sale

Demand for Harry Style tickets are high and likely to sell-out fast. Some fans have shared their efforts online to secure tickets to the Love on Tour 2023 show. With one tweeting a photo of them with three different devices all in the presale queue. @megann_duff jokingly compared trying for Harry Styles to the "85th annual hunger games":

Hey, that’s her man!

Travis Kelce made a surprise appearance onstage during Taylor Swift ’s Eras Tour stop in London on June 23 — and on Monday, June 24, the pop star gave him a sweet shoutout on Instagram .

Swift, 34, shared a post in celebration of her three nights of concerts at Wembley Stadium over the weekend, and the first photo featured Kelce onstage during her performance of “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart.”

“I’m still cracking up/swooning over @killatrav’s Eras Tour debut 🥰 Never going to forget these shows,” wrote Swift, who also included a photo of her NFL star boyfriend, 34, carrying her onstage as part of the performance.

Elsewhere in her caption, the "Fortnight" singer said so long to London with a shoutout to the 90,000 fans that turned out each night and “were some of the loudest crowds I’ve ever heard,” as well as pals Hayley Williams and Gracie Abrams , who joined her for “Castles Crumbling” and “Us.,” respectively.

“Acoustic sections went OFF. I got to sing ‘Castles Crumbling’ with @yelyahwilliams for the first time - hadn’t performed with her since 2011 and man my heart was just so full of love for her and our friendship,” Swift wrote. “Then the impossibly gifted and wonderful @gracieabrams came and surprised the crowd with the first performance of our song ‘us.’”

Swift shocked fans by welcoming Kelce onstage with her during her outfit change for “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart” on Sunday. After enjoying the show from the VIP tent, he appeared onstage unannounced, dressed to the nines in a tuxedo and top hat.

The Kansas City Chiefs star stepped in for the dancer who usually carries Swift onstage during the segment, and playfully dusted her face with powder as he grinned from ear to ear.

After the concert, Swift and Kelce stepped out together at London’s Chiltern Firehouse, where they partied late into the night wearing matching crocheted looks.

The outing came two days after the high-profile couple went Instagram official in a sweet backstage selfie Swift snapped with Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte in celebration of William’s 42nd birthday.

Kelce’s brother Jason Kelce and his wife Kylie Kelce also attended their first Eras Tour performance the same night, and were seen enjoying the show from the VIP tent alongside stars like Tom Cruise. They later came back for round two the next night.

Swift's Eras Tour will continue in Dublin on June 28.

Travis Kelce Joins Taylor Swift Onstage During Night 3 of London Eras Tour: See the Sweet Moment!

Taylor Swift is joined on stage by Travis Kelce (R), during "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour" at Wembley Stadium on June 22, 2024 in London, England

Taylor Swift brought out boyfriend Travis Kelce on stage during the third night of her Eras Tour stop at Wembley Stadium in London.

Taylor Swift brought out Travis Kelce on night 3 of her  London Eras Tour  stop, proving that, once again, she is a mastermind .

After two nights of surprising fans at Wembley Stadium, Swift, 34, pulled off the ultimate hoodwink in the form of bringing her Kansas City Chiefs player boyfriend , 34, on stage during the set list for her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department . On Sunday night, over 80,000 fans in attendance watched as Travis -- wearing a black tuxedo and top hat to match Swift's other dancers -- carried his girlfriend out on stage in his arms.

There, No. 87 -- who Swift has lovingly referred to as "the guy on the Chiefs" -- stood by as Swift's dancers (per her choreography) stripped her of her dress and revealed a white two-piece set underneath, all as Travis watched from afar, fanning himself and smiling from ear to ear.

Before exiting the stage and letting Swift belt out "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart," one of the most-streamed songs of The Tortured Poets Department thus far, Travis adorably pretended to apply makeup to his lover 's face, grinning as Swift -- acting like a rag doll of sorts -- pretended to be over the whole situation.

Fans -- who have adorably bequeathed the couple with the portmanteau "Tayvis" -- quickly took to social media to express their excitement over the impromptu appearance from the NFL tight end, who was spotted earlier in the night in the VIP tent after previously attending the first two shows at Wembley with brother Jason Kelce and sister-in-law Kylie Kelce  -- who  attended their first Eras show on Friday.

"there is something extremely poetic about travis kelce carrying taylor swift away after her heart was shattered....," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"Travis Kelce after being in the VIP tent for a third night in a row," another X user wrote , hilariously attaching a clip of Ryan Gosling as Ken in 2023's Barbie .

After the show, one person shared a sweet video of the couple leaving Wembley Stadium, Swift grabbing Travis' hand while wearing a pink shift dress and heading out, potentially for a night on the town. It's unclear exactly where they were headed but fans were behind them as they took off for the evening. It's another sweet update for the couple of less than a year whose love story is nothing short of heart-stopping.

"Travis had a friendship bracelet and a dream less than a year ago, now he's on the Eras Tour stage #LondonTSTheErasTour ," one fan wrote , referencing the origins of Swift and Travis' love story.

Who could forget that Travis saw Swift perform her Eras Tour show last summer at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City -- the home stadium for the Chiefs -- and opted to "shoot his shot" by propositioning her to come and see him dominate Arrowhead . Swift later attended her first Chiefs game in September, and quickly became a staple in the cheering section for the Missouri NFL team, attending 13 (her lucky number) games and watching the Chiefs win the Super Bowl in February.

Fast forward to today, and they're taking on the world together -- we're unsure if there's a drawer of Swift's things at Travis' place. Nevertheless, the couple has been standing side by side and celebrating each other on their individual career wins, including Travis' foray into the world of acting and Swift's continued music success.

In May, a source told ET that while they are increasingly busy in life, they are very much in love and unafraid to show it. Furthermore, those closest to them would not be surprised should Travis pop the question and Swift accept his proposal.

A source told ET at the time, "Taylor and Travis are doing amazing, and their loved ones see an engagement coming sooner than later. They make a great match and there's no question about that."

More recently, another person close to the couple shared that they are making their love work amid the distance between them as Travis gets ready for the 2024 NFL season in the U.S. and Swift continues with her European Eras Tour shows.

"Taylor and Travis make sure that the current long-distance aspect of their relationship doesn't last very long. They both move their schedules around if it's feasible and try to carve out as much time as they can to see each other, as well as each other’s families and friends," a source shared .

The source added, "They prioritize each other and do anything and everything to make each other happy. Their relationship is genuine and they both want to make it work, so it does."

Taylor Swift knew exactly what she was doing bringing Travis Kelce onstage

  • Travis Kelce made a surprise appearance onstage at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour show in London.
  • It's the first time Swift has invited a boyfriend to share the spotlight during one of her concerts.
  • The cameo evokes the 1989 World Tour — before Swift pulled back from the public eye.

Insider Today

Taylor Swift is no stranger to bringing guests onstage. But during her latest show in London on the Eras Tour on Sunday, she had a very special one: her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

Dressed in a ringmaster ensemble, the football star popped up during a costume-change skit that acts as the prelude to Swift's performance of " I Can Do It With a Broken Heart ." Before she delivered the first lyric, Swift even broke character to blow Kelce a kiss.

Of course, Swift and Kelce haven't been shy about kissing, cuddling, and supporting each other's endeavors since they began dating last summer . But Kelce's cameo gave PDA a whole new meaning. Never before had Swift invited a boyfriend to share the spotlight during one of her concerts, never mind one on a legacy-cementing billion-dollar tour .

The move seems even more surprising and extravagant in contrast to Swift's previous relationship with the British actor Joe Alwyn . During their six years together, both stars fiercely protected their privacy and were rarely seen together in public.

But for longtime Swifties, those who predate her relationship with Alwyn, Sunday's events may feel more familiar than strange — almost like a callback to simpler times.

In the first half of her career, Swift wasn't shy about her most romantic whims. She posted photos of heart-shaped lockets and tropical getaways . She took seaside strolls with her boyfriend's mom. She wore ball gowns and belted starry-eyed ballads while suspended in the air on flying balconies . Swift loved a grand gesture, both real and imaginary.

This was especially evident during the 1989 World Tour , which ran for nearly seven months in 2015. No, Swift's boyfriend at the time, Calvin Harris, did not make a surprise appearance. But pretty much everyone else did — from close friends like Karlie Kloss and Lena Dunham to athletes like Kobe Bryant and all manner of musicians and rock stars. Every night brought a new face, a new thrill, a new thread in the vast web of Swiftian lore.

Related stories

At the time, the "1989" era marked the peak of Swift's fame. Mostly thanks to her talent and partially thanks to her self-spun underdog narrative, she had enjoyed years of headlines like " Taylor Swift: America's sweetheart " and " Taylor Swift Is the Music Industry ."

With her new synth-pop sound, inescapable singles like "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space," a " squad " full of supermodels, and a cameo-packed tour, Swift was everywhere. So, as often happens with female celebrities , her success went from charming to grating. A new kind of headline began to pop up, immortalized by Dayna Evans' Gawker essay " Taylor Swift Is Not Your Friend ," which criticized her tour antics as "opportunistic and sinister."

Then came the infamous phone call. When Kim Kardashian shared a snippet of Swift's conversation with Ye about his song "Famous" that seemed to contradict Swift's version of events, the world was already ready to turn on her. In Swift's own words , she was "canceled within an inch of my life and sanity."

The backlash forced the self-described " mastermind " to recalculate her strategy and pull back from the public eye . She still released big pop bangers and went on tour, but her movements felt more careful, sparing, and protective.

Ever since Swift kicked off the Eras Tour last year (and split from Alwyn shortly after), she's gradually returned to her precancellation mentality. It's perhaps the most classic Swiftian ideology: More is more. This can apply to everything and anything — more songs , more hours onstage , more CD variants , and, naturally, more photo ops with her hunky boyfriend. She risks being overexposed again, but maybe this time, she knows she'll survive.

Indeed, Swift told Time in December that she's not interested in being "locked away" anymore, in exerting "an extreme amount of effort" to hide her passion and enthusiasm from the world, including her bond with Kelce.

"When you say a relationship is public, that means I'm going to see him do what he loves, we're showing up for each other, other people are there, and we don't care," she said.

In this respect, Kelce may be the perfect match for Swift. After all, their relationship started after he mentioned on his podcast that he wanted to meet her; he's a businessman ( and a ham ) in his own right. His managers have been open about their plan to make him "as famous as the Rock."

For these two peas in a pod, personal triumphs are communal by trade, whether it's a touchdown at the Super Bowl or a first kiss that inspires a smash hit.

"Ultimately, we can convolute it all we want, or try to overcomplicate it," Swift told Time. "But there's only one question: Are you not entertained?"

Ever the performer, Swift knows exactly what she's doing. As much as maximalism is true to Swift's brand, it's also good for business.

Swift's music indicates that she is expressive, theatrical, and sentimental at her core. Her net worth proves that she's skilled at monetizing those qualities. After all, Swift made her name as a confessional songwriter, transforming her intimate moments into morsels for public consumption.

Perhaps bringing Kelce onstage felt as natural to Swift as writing a love song about him. But as Swift well knows, both will generate headlines.

London’s theaters offer something for everyone. Whether in big West End venues or on stages tucked away above a pub, the city’s shows include the classics, new plays and some productions that defy classification. Open air playhouses attract audiences willing to brave the unpredictable summer weather, and venues spread throughout the city make for an accessible theater landscape that extends far beyond the heavily trafficked tourist hot spots.

Whether you’re looking for frothy musicals or fiercely charged political writing, chances are your wishes can be answered somewhere around town. Below, in seven categories, are some of the shows vying for the attention of visitors and residents seeking out London theater this summer.

Give Me Serious Drama

Few London playhouses generate as much buzz as the Almeida, and expectations are high for its run of this new play from the Australian playwright Kendall Feaver, whose theatrical debut, “The Almighty Sometimes,” impressed British critics when it played in Manchester, England, in 2018 . Feaver’s latest is set on a university campus rocked by sexual assault allegations, and Polly Findlay directs a cast led by Phoebe Campbell and Justine Mitchell . Through July 20 at the Almeida Theater.

The Boys from the Blackstuff

The regional accents may prove a challenge — especially if English isn’t your first language — but there’s no denying the passion and power that course through James Graham’s stage adaptation of this era-defining 1982 British TV show. Through a community of Liverpool road builders’ struggles, Kate Wasserberg’s empathic production reminds us that employment is crucial to self-esteem. Through Aug. 3 at the Garrick Theater.

My Father’s Fable

The Bush Theater in West London might seem off the beaten path, but it’s where the stage version of “Baby Reindeer” had its London run , before Netflix’s runaway hit adaptation brought it to TV screens all over the world earlier this year. The Bush’s current offering is the debut play from the British Nigerian actress Faith Omole, who was a 2023 nominee for London’s equivalent to the Tonys, the Olivier Awards. “My Father’s Fable” follows a character named Peace, who discovers a brother she didn’t know she had; Rakie Ayola stars and Rebekah Murrell directs. Through July 27 at the Bush Theater.

People Places and Things

Duncan Macmillan’s take-no-prisoners account of addiction and recovery — with snippets of Chekhov’s “The Seagull” thrown in — won awards aplenty in London nearly a decade ago for its leading lady Denise Gough, who then brought the show to New York in 2017 . Here it is again, with Gough in fearless form once more as the angsty, anguished Emma, and a supporting cast led by Gough’s fellow Irishwoman Sinead Cusack. Through Aug. 10 at the Trafalgar Theater.

Buying tickets

The box office is often the best port of call, if you want to avoid online fees or get “rush” seats that are sometimes available shortly before curtain up. Various websites, including whatsonstage.com, sell tickets alongside reviews and features.

Reusable Sippy Cups may be the norm on Broadway, but they are rare outside the United States. “Interval drinks,” as intermission beverages are known in Britain, are often served in actual glasses that can sometimes be taken into the auditorium and which can be ordered before the performance to avoid a crush at the bar in the break.

The pleasures of a free Playbill don’t exist in London, where programs — not Playbills, which is an American brand — must be purchased. Some theaters have gone paperless and make program information available only by scanning a QR code or looking online.

Refunds and exchanges

These policies vary venue to venue, and sometimes show to show. Some theaters will issue a credit that can be used for other productions under the same roof, but London is stricter than New York about offering money back if a star is absent.

Show Me the Classics

Richard iii.

This production at Shakespeare’s Globe — a reconstruction of the 16th-century theater where many of the Bard’s plays were first performed — has been a talking-point in London’s theater world after disability activists objected to the theater’s artistic director, Michelle Terry, taking the title role, because she is not disabled (and Terry performs the role without its typical hunch). That brought some renewed attention to a venue that has always been popular with visitors, where you can stand in an arena under an open sky, as Jacobean theatergoers did, or opt for seats around the side. Through Aug. 3 at Shakespeare’s Globe.

Suite in Three Keys

Noël Coward is a London favorite and his “Private Lives” received two major revivals here in 2023 alone. Now, the director Tom Littler is turning the attention of the Orange Tree Theater toward three lesser-known Coward plays from 1965, all set in the same Swiss hotel suite and all dealing with relationships on the rocks. Tara Fitzgerald, Stephen Boxer and Emma Fielding lead the cast, and the Orange Tree Theater presents the plays as a double-bill and a stand-alone show, which can be seen in either order. Through July 6 at the Orange Tree Theater.

A View from the Bridge

Each decade seems to offer up a defining London production of Arthur Miller’s 1950s tragedy. This go-round finds the small-screen star Dominic West (“The Wire,” “The Affair”) returning to his theatrical roots to play Eddie Carbone, the Brooklyn longshoreman with a guilty secret. The protean Kate Fleetwood plays his wife, Beatrice, who learns far more about her husband than she ever expected. Through Aug. 3 at Theater Royal, Haymarket.

The Grapes of Wrath

Frank Galati’s adaptation of John Steinbeck’s enduring novel played the National Theater in 1989 on the way to a Tony-winning Broadway run. Now, it’s back in a new production that underscores the timeless importance of the Joad family’s Depression-era travails on the largest of the National’s three stages. Expect large-scale emotion in a big theater, not least with the mighty Cherry Jones, a two-time Tony winner, heading the cast. Runs July 17 to Sept. 14 at the National Theater.

I Want to See Stars

The constituent.

It’s been a dozen years since James Corden took the play “ One Man, Two Guvnors ” to Broadway; he went on to win a Tony and launch a successful career in the United States as a late-night talk show host. This summer, he’s back on the London stage for the first time since then, leading the cast for a new play by Joe Penhall set in the world of British politics, a timely production given Britain votes this summer in a general election. Matthew Warchus, who runs the Old Vic, directs. Through Aug. 10 at the Old Vic.

Hello, Dolly!

Leading lady Imelda Staunton has shown a career-long interest in the American repertory, from Edward Albee to Stephen Sondheim. This summer, she lends her powerful singing voice to to a revival of the Jerry Herman Broadway favorite, here directed by Dominic Cooke, who also worked with Staunton on an acclaimed revival of Sondheim’s “Follies.” Her character, the matchmaking Dolly Gallagher Levi is a funnier, frothier one than Staunton often plays, so look for smiles both onstage and in the audience; Andy Nyman and Jenna Russell co-star. Runs July 6 to Sept. 14 at the London Palladium.

Romeo and Juliet

The last time Tom Holland was on a West End stage, he was a prepubescent member of the company in “Billy Elliot the Musical.” The 28-year-old “Spiderman” star has now graduated to the big league with his Shakespeare debut in “Romeo and Juliet”: a heavily cut, stripped-back version that bears the stark signature of its director, Jamie Lloyd . With Holland’s name attached, the show sold out in just hours, even before Juliet had been cast (she’s played by Francesca Amewudah-Rivers), but last-minute box office visitors have been known to snap up returned tickets. Through Aug. 3 at the Duke of York’s Theater.

Kit Harington may have come to worldwide attention as Jon Snow on “Game of Thrones,” but the actor returns regularly to his theatrical roots. And despite his star power, he’ll be getting alphabetical billing in the West End premiere of the Jeremy O. Harris drama “Slave Play,” which made headlines in New York for its bold depiction of race, sex and power in the American South. The London cast includes alumni from the New York cast, such as James Cusati-Moyer and Chalia La Tour; Robert O’Hara directs again. Runs June 29 to Sept. 21 at the No ë l Coward Theater.

I’m Looking for a Laugh

Fawlty towers: the play.

The BBC only made 12 episodes of this TV show in the 1970s, but that was enough to secure Basil Fawlty and his wife Sybil spots in the canon of British comedy, along with the employees and guests of their seaside hotel. A dashing Adam Jackson-Smith is the spitting image of John Cleese as the easily flustered Basil, and Anna-Jane Casey, sporting surely the heaviest wig on the West End, steps ably into Prunella Scales’s shoes as his sly and snarky wife. Through Jan. 4, 2025, at the Apollo Theater.

The Play That Goes Wrong

It’s nearly 10 years since the West End opening of this Mischief Theater company production about an amateur theatrical troupe attempting — not very successfully — to stage a 1920s murder mystery. After many cast changes and a heap of international acclaim, Mark Bell’s staging continues to offer up both mayhem and mirth, not to mention a Tony Award-winning set from Nigel Hook that collapses on cue in each performance. At the Duchess Theater.

The 39 Steps

This frothy stage version of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 spy thriller ran for nine years on the West End, won a 2007 Olivier Award for best comedy and toured to 39 countries. Its late-summer London return will surely beguile audiences anew. Tom Byrne, who played Prince Andrew in “The Crown,” is the star this time around, supported by three multitasking colleagues who take on a dizzying array of roles. Runs Aug. 16 to Sept. 28 at the Trafalgar Theater.

I Love Musicals

The baker’s wife.

A busy summer for American musicals in London includes a rare outing for of “The Baker’s Wife,” a portrait of French provincial life in the 1930s from the book writer Joseph Stein (“Fiddler On the Roof”), and the composer Stephen Schwartz, whose subsequent monster hit, “Wicked ,” is soon to be a two-part film. This latest production of “The Baker’s Wife” is in the hands of the American director Gordon Greenberg, whose Huey Lewis musical “The Heart of Rock and Roll” just closed on Broadway ; Clive Rowe (“Carousel”) and Lucie Jones (“Waitress”) play the middle-aged baker and his beautiful young wife. Runs July 6 to Sept. 14 at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

Guys and Dolls

Frank Loesser’s gorgeous 1950 musical chronicling two love affairs is especially adored in London, where it seems to get revived every few years. But Nicholas Hytner’s acclaimed production for the Bridge Theater is the first time this show has been presented as an immersive experience. You can watch the performance on foot, following the cast from one shifting location to another, or you can sit and watch the action from the above. Whatever you choose, you’ll thrill anew at Arlene Phillips’s high-kicking choreography and a cast whose affection for the immortal score is palpable from the first note. Through Jan. 4, 2025, at the Bridge Theater.

Kiss Me, Kate

The Barbican Theater, once home to the Royal Shakespeare Company, gives itself over every summer to a production of an American musical. This year it’s Cole Porter’s feisty 1948 backstage musical “Kiss Me, Kate,” about two warring lovers putting on “The Taming of the Shrew. ” The American director Bartlett Sher is at the helm of an international cast headed by the expert Stephanie J. Block, on loan from Broadway, in the dual roles of Lilli Vanessi and Shakespeare’s Katharine; the Irish actor Adrian Dunbar (“Line of Duty”) makes his mainstream musical theater debut playing Fred Graham and Petruchio. Through Sept. 14 at the Barbican Theater.

High school can be an unforgiving place, as we are reminded by this stage musical version of the popular 2004 film. Six years after its Broadway run led to 12 Tony nominations, “Mean Girls” has reached the West End, directed, as in New York, by Casey Nicholaw. Charlie Burn plays the wayward class newbie, Cady, who finds herself confronting Georgina Castle’s Regina, the meanest of the girls in her midst. At the Savoy Theater.

My Kids Want to Come, Too

The gruffalo.

This adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s 1999 children’s book reached the stage in 2001, courtesy of the Tall Stories theater company. Here’s a chance to revisit the tale of the hungry mouse whose quest for hazelnuts brings him into contact with the titular forbidding buffalo-like creature. The show is being performed during the day in the same West End theater where the more adult musical “ Hadestown ” runs in the evening. Runs July 17 to Sept. 8 at the Lyric Theater.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

J.K. Rowling’s Hogwarts saga was a benchmark achievement in children’s literature long before the stage version pushed the narrative forward to encompass Harry and his school friends’ adult lives. On Broadway, the director John Tiffany’s ceaselessly imaginative two-part production has been compressed into one play; New York visitors wanting to see the more capacious original can still do so on the West End, where the eye-popping production celebrates its eighth birthday on July 30. At the Palace Theater.

The Secret Garden

Frances Hodgson Burnett’s tale of 10-year-old Mary Lennox, dispatched from India to northern England to live with an uncle she doesn’t know, has been refashioned many times and reaches the stage anew this summer, alfresco in Regent’s Park. (Check the weather forecast before heading out.) Puppets have been added to the mix in this version, directed by Anna Himali Howard. Through July 20 at the Open Air Theater, Regent’s Park.

There’s something rather sweet about watching girls dressed as Anna or Elsa heading into the West End production of “Frozen ,” which is now the Disney musical’s flagship production since the Broadway version shut down in 2020 . Families have just a few more months to check out the director Michael Grandage’s lavish reappraisal of the hit film — that icescape! — with Laura Dawkes and Samantha Barks as the two sisters who let their voices go. Through Sept. 8 at Theater Royal, Drury Lane.

Tweedy’s Massive Circus

Circuses don’t usually think small, but that’s the case with this ironically named show from Tweedy the Clown, in which the big top has shrunken in size. Tweedy, a baggy-trousered Scot, has long been a mainstay of the touring Giffords Circus in England; this time, he’s in the company of three colleagues, one of whom (Sam Goodburn) joins Tweedy in a tightrope walk without a wire. Runs July 18 to 27 at the Underbelly Festival, Cavendish Square.

I Like the Weird

The Argentine company Fuerza Bruta’s high-octane mixture of physical theater, music and movement has been seen around the world, and now the company is returning to London with “AVEN,” a show that promises more of their trademark, take-no-prisoners energy. The production, which premiered in Buenos Aires, promises to have the vibrancy of a rave . Runs July 9 to Sept. 1 at the Roundhouse.

Interview with the Vamp

Richard Thomas was a backstage figure for the scabrous musical “Jerry Springer: the Opera,” which he created over 20 years ago with Stewart Lee. This time, Thomas will be onstage, alongside cabaret mainstay Dr. Adam Perchard, in a short but scintillating-sounding run of a shows billed as an “epic queer song cycle”— and why not? Runs July 10 to 13 at the Soho Theater.

Viola’s Room

There are no masks required in this 45-minute offering from Punchdrunk, the British company behind such vaunted immersive experiences as “The Burnt City” and “Sleep No More.” And rather than splitting the audience up into small groups, as is the Punchdrunk norm, spectators will come together and walk barefoot through a labyrinth while listening on headsets as the whispery voice of Helena Bonham Carter tells a spooky tale drawn from a gothic 1901 short story, “The Moon-Slave.” Through Aug. 18 at One Cartridge Place .

Arts and Culture Across Europe

A production of “Richard III” at the Shakespeare’s Globe theater faced criticism because a nondisabled actor plays the scheming king. But disputes like these miss the point , our critic writes.

The violent history of the Dutch colony that is now New York is not well known in the Netherlands. The curators of a new exhibition at the Amsterdam Museum  want to change that.

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London is a treasure trove of art and design. Here’s one besotted visitor’s plan for taking it all in .

The Royal Shakespeare Company’s co-artistic directors have put together a challenging debut season . But many visitors come to Stratford-upon-Avon seeking something more traditional.

The Venice Biennale, the art world’s most prestigious exhibition, opened recently  to some fanfare, some criticism  and a number of protests . Here’s a look at some of the standouts  from the 2024 edition.
