http://www.michaelboltoncharities.com/ Message From Michael Dear Friends: There are so many of us who are truly fortunate in so many ways. And there are many of us who believe that giving something back and helping people less fortunate than ourselves is simply the right thing to do. I was a New Haven city kid. It took me 20 years to catch my break. The Michael Bolton Charities serves as an instrument of compassion to give those less fortunate - those children and women who deserve a chance for a better life. We support organizations that emphasize teaching children and women a way to escape, on their own, the patterns and consequences of abuse, poverty and ignorance. We reach out to support groups whose programs provide a path to a safe future. For over two decades, dedicated donors, volunteers and professionals have changed lives and saved lives. The needs across our communities remain, and we remain committed - with your help - to go the distance.

He's got a voice that can melt even the iciest of hearts.

And thankfully, the swooning crooner Michael Bolton is returning to British shores with the announcement of an exclusive UK performance in 2024.

The Grammy Award -winning singer-songwriter has confirmed his highly-anticipated return to London, and will perform at the city's O2 Arena on Thursday 25th July next year.

In what will be an exclusive one-off concert, Bolton will also be bringing along an incredibly special guest to support him: none other than Welsh firebrand Bonnie Tyler .

It'll mark Michael's first UK show in over three years, and the 'How Can We Be Lovers' singer cannot wait to celebrate his life and career with his British fans.

"I am so excited to have my London return at The O2 Arena next summer. Looking forward to a memorable evening of performing and celebrating the hits!," he said in the press statement announcing the concert.

Michael Bolton is back in the UK for One Night Only.

Bolton has promised to perform all of his greatest hits and heart-breaking ballads when he heads to England's capital city.

That will include the likes of classics such as ' How Am I Supposed to Live Without You ', 'When A Man Loves A Woman' and 'Time, Love And Tenderness'.

Across his illustrious, award-winning career in music, Michael has released nearly thirty albums, achieved nine number one singles, and has sold nearly 30 million records worldwide.

His most recent album Spark Of Light was released in 2023, and he has revealed the upcoming Christmas Time , a collection of timeless Christmas classic songs and duets which is set for release on 3rd November 2023.

Bolton has emerged as somewhat of a comedic talent in recent years, collaborating with The Lonely Island and Funny Or Die, poking fun at himself which has endeared him to an entirely new generation of fans, so expected a multi-generational crowd at his London concert.

Aside from his many awards, the proof is in the pudding when it comes to his songwriting - the likes of Cher , Barbra Streisand , and Kenny Rogers have covered his songs, and he's one of a handful of artists to have co-written with the legendary Bob Dylan .

A bonafide legend of pop and rock ballads herself, Bonnie is most known for her iconic hits 'It's a Heartache', 'Holding Out for a Hero', and of course ' Total Eclipse Of The Heart ', the latter of which is one of a select club to achieve over a billion streams on YouTube.

Ecstatic about joining Michael at the O2 Arena, Bonnie said: "I am delighted to have been asked to appear as a special guest at Michael Bolton’s O2 show and am really looking forward to seeing him, and performing for you all, there. See you at the O2 on July 25th."

Michael Bolton is an amazing artist who puts his heart and soul in his singing. He never gets distracted from the reason he has so many fans. Add to that his good looks and fun personality. He is worth the money and time to attend his concerts. Want to see him live once again.

Excellent program. Great sound system. Michael Bolton personable with the crowd. Songs could not have been performed any better. The symphony and choir were outstanding. Should be a wonderful concert year for Michael Bolton.

Actually I am a SPIRITUAL CERTIFIED PSYCHIC MEDIUM and my husband Michael Green and I attended MICHAEL BOLTON'S CONCERT @ Casino Windsor on Thursday December 13th and this is some of what I posted to my facebook group: Last night my hubby Mike and I attended the Michael Bolton Concert at Caesars Windsor gifted to me in November for my birthday by our daughter Terri, her husband Albert and our precious grandchildren. We had 6th row floor seats that were excellent and very close in proximity to the stage

So, Mike and I were in full concert mode, singing, laughing and chair dancing ;) Michael Bolton announced that he was going to sing a song made famous by Celine Dion, The Prayer!

He started to sing this Beautiful Song, a duet and the tears welled up in my eyes. I grabbed Mikes hand, squeezed it and noticed he was wiping the tears that were streaming down his face as well, the memories, oh the memories came flooding back and when I looked at him we both said in concession to one another Gloria--Lucy and Mike said "girls are you here"? I smiled at him, nodded and squeezed his hand again. I turned to look forward as I was going to watch them on stage and I noticed and excitedly said "Mike look, as i pointed to a feather" a white little feather that was floating down towards us both and landed on top of my finger."

Michael sang more songs, he is EXTREMELY TALENTED and Oh,SOOOO EASY on the eyes ;) he CAN sing ANYTHING!! He sang his hits, motown, Christmas and so many others his voice continues to be strong and he sounds the way he always did! He brought excitement as well as laughter to the crowd. IF you have NOT had the privilege of seeing MB live or listen to his music (why)???? You MUST!!! Michael came down through the crowd singing and many of us rushed to the stage, I included, but was not fortunate enough to grasp his hand, so I went back to my seat and there on the floor by the vacant seat beside me, was a loonie! Yep a loonie another verification from my 2 sisters on the other side. The concert was over, I said to Mike, sit down we don't need to rush, were not in a hurry lets wait till the crowd settles down. Mike then said Dad, "girls did yous like the concert" again I looked forward and down came this Beautiful huge white feather which I pointed out to Mike Look, look I said, do you see it? With a smile and a nod he nodded yes I see it.

So you see not only was this a birthday gift but loved ones on the other side. Heaven came down to see his concert. :) MICHAEL BOLTON you have MANY fans all over the world as well as in Heaven.

Love, Light and Blessings

How much do Glastonbury Festival 2024 headliners and acts get paid?

Dua Lipa, SZA and Coldplay are headlining the famous Glastonbury Festival Pyramid Stage in 2024 - but they may not earn as much from it as you'd expect

Festivalgoers heading to Glastonbury 2024 will see Dua Lipa, SZA and Coldplay headlining the famous Pyramid Stage. And while it costs a pretty penny for those attending - £355 for a ticket, to be precise - how much can the acts they're there to see expect to rake in from it?

It's not quite as much as you'd think. Despite Glastonbury being one of the most famous music festivals in the world, it's more about the love of Worthy Farm than the chance to earn a small fortune.

Glastonbury organisers Michael and Emily Eavis previously revealed their act pay structure, with Michael saying: "I paid £200,000 for Paul McCartney and for Coldplay, and although it sounds a lot, they could have charged me far more."

Emily has also spoken about how the festival's performers are typically paid a fraction of what they’d usually expect from a major music festival. Talking to BBC Radio 6, she explained: "We're not in the same bracket as everyone else when it comes to paying artists massive fees. We're really grateful for the bands that we get because they're basically doing it for the love of it.

"It's probably less than 10 per cent of what they'd get from playing any of the other major British festivals, [so] Glastonbury relies completely on goodwill."

While the offer of "exposure" doesn't pay the bills for us mere mortals, when it's one of the world's biggest stages things are a little different. On George Ezra's podcast , Emily previously explained: "Because of the TV and because of the exposure that they (acts) get, they do go on to do really well afterwards, so they'll sell records afterwards.

"So we're saying 'look, come and do this but even though there's a small fee, we can almost guarantee afterwards you'll make up for it'."

Bestival organiser Rob Da Bank, previously told SomersetLive that Glastonbury has a cap on its budget - so for many, playing there is more about the experience and kudos that comes with it.

He explained: "They cap their budget and even the headliners don't get paid more than £500,000 I think, which is cheap for some of the headliners and they've had a lot of them. So, that's proof of it's huge, huge influence."

Whether you want to relive your favourites from the Pyramid stage or missed out on tickets, a new pre- Amazon Prime Day deal means you can listen to millions of songs including those from this year's top Glastonbury artists totally free. Amazon Prime members can get five months of music - streamed and downloaded for when you don't have wifi - completely free in a limited time offer .

And while the exact fee for each headliner is never revealed publicly, Lyle Bignon - a music consultant specialising in live music venues and festivals told Metro : "The likes of Elton John and Guns N' Roses, who have decades of global fame behind them, can likely command higher prices running into the £250,000+ range."

In contrast, headliners at other UK festivals can earn upwards of £1million for their performances, according to reports. In the USA, Billboard said Beyoncé was paid £3.2million for her Coachella performance in 2018.

Relying more on goodwill means Glastonbury is able to make big donations to a range of charitable causes. In December 2023 it said it had made payments of over £3.7m to charities.

NEWS... BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

Who is Olivia Dean as she plays the iconic Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2024?

Olivia Dean wears sunglasses as she sings into a microphone on stage

It’s a big weekend for Olivia Dean , who has not only released her brand new single, Time, but she’s also set to take Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage this weekend.

So, who is she? And what do you need to know as she stuns thousands of festivalgoers at 1.15pm on Friday?

From humble beginnings to overcoming stage fright, the North London star, 25, has a story just as intriguing as her ballads.

Whether Olivia is new to your playlist or a longstanding favourite, she’s no stranger to the music industry and, in her almost decade-long career, has sold out a European tour, collaborated with one the UK’s most recognisable drum and bass bands, Rudimental and become a Chanel ambassador.

But like any artist, it all started somewhere, and for Olivia, that was as a young child in primary school. The musician, raised in Walthamstow by her English father and Jamaican-Guyanese mother, starred in her school play, Annie, as a young girl. While she enjoyed musical theatre and drama, she didn’t enjoy the nerves that came with it.

In a past interview, she revealed that as she took to the stage to perform the song Tomorrow, she was ‘so nervous’, that she had to turn her back to the audience and compose herself.

‘The pianist was just like, “Turn around, you can do this”. So I spun around and faced everyone, singing Tomorrow with tears streaming down my face. But it must have worked because I took second place,’ she told BBC earlier this year.

It was a moment that proved she could overcome her fears and provoked Olivia to pursue a life in the spotlight. Her determination paid off, and at the tender age of 15, she earned a spot at the Brit School , where she studied theatre.

However, she soon realised she didn’t love the stage in the same way her peers did and quickly leaned into her love for music. Teaching herself guitar and piano, her natural talent landed Olivia a manager – Emily Braham.

Even if it took a bit to get there, ‘she couldn’t get my email address because you weren’t allowed to message minors,” Olivia told BBC.

Once the two were in contact, Emily (who still manages Olivia today) secured an audition for the young artist with the popular drum and bass band Rudimental. It was effectively the start of her career and set the tone for what was to come.

After collaborating on the song Adrenaline in 2019, the then-17-year-old was invited to join the band at their Sziget set. It was her first show and saw her perform in front of upwards of 17,000 people.

In an interview last year, Olivia spoke about the experience, claiming it was ‘invaluable’ and made her realise she isn’t very good at being a back-up singer, ‘There were times where I was supposed to be singing the harmony but I’d think actually I’m just gonna sing the tune, I would just zone out and get lost in it. So I definitely wasn’t very good at it.’

Thankfully, she didn’t have to stay a backup singer for long, and by the following year, she was well on her way to stardom with the release of her debut EP, Ok Love You Bye.

It’s become one of her most well-known tracks and has earned more than 42 million streams since its release.

The single also generated a huge fan base of almost four million monthly listeners, and Olivia soon started receiving bookings for multiple festivals, festivals she and everyone else were unable to attend because of the COVID pandemic.

Like many artists in the industry, Olivia was devastated she couldn’t perform, but instead of dwelling on the fact, she started looking at other options to continue doing what she loved.

Not a huge fan of social media, she decided TikTok wasn’t an option for her, ‘I’m an in-person kind of artist’, she told The Standard , so she was forced to take a new direction.

‘I wanted to cycle from door to door playing gigs for people, but then the idea snowballed and we thought, “what if we got a van?” and that’s what we did.’

Olivia travelled around the country performing in a custom yellow van and by 2021, she was making waves in the industry.

As well as being dubbed breakthrough artist of the year by Amazon , following in the footsteps of the likes of Arlo Parks and JAY1, the then 21-year-old released her single Be My Own Boyfriend.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk at the time of its release, she described the song as a self-love ballad and opened up about the inspiration behind it.

‘I came to a bit of a realisation last year and I’d gone through a break-up where I was thinking about the concept of having another half and being another half. I thought, hang on a minute, I think I’m already whole and it’s really important to get to a point where you feel complete and you’re not waiting for somebody else to come along and make your life better, then you’re winning.’

Since releasing the single, Olivia has embarked on multiple sold-out tours, including in Europe and America, been signed as a Chanel ambassador, and released her debut album, Messy, in 2023, which peaked at number four on the UK charts and landed her a nomination for the Mercury Prize.

Olivia Dean wears a two piece blue and pink Chanel outfit as she poses in front of a stair case

The album was a collaborative effort between Olivia and musician and producer Matt Hales and saw the singer make a name for herself as both a vulnerable musician and one who can easily jump between genres.

She told NME ahead of its release, ‘I don’t think that anyone is supposed to make any kind of music, you should just make what sounds good to you.’

It’s a choice her fans clearly support. In addition to selling out a European tour, it took just one minute for her show at KOKO in Camden to sell out last year, which resulted in a second show at Camden’s Roundhouse.

Today, Olivia is considered one of the UK’s most promising rising stars. This year alone, she has made her Coachella debut and is in the middle of her Europe tour, which includes multiple festival slots. To top it off, she has three Brit Award nominations under her belt for Best Pop Act, British Artist of the Year, and Best New Artist.

But she isn’t slowing down anytime soon, and despite just releasing her brand new single, Time and getting ready to take Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, she already knows what her end goal is.

‘The endpoint is headlining Glastonbury. It’s always been that,’ she told BBC .

The top five Olivia Dean songs to add to your playlist:

  • Ok Love You Bye
  • The Hardest Part
  • Be My Own Boyfriend

And don’t forget her brand new single, Time!

110th Tour de France 2023 - Stage 17

The biggest event on the cycling calendar, and one of the most noteworthy sporting events in the world, is upon us: the 2024 Tour de France will start this weekend.

The 111th edition of the race will be kicked off in the Italian city of Florence on Saturday, June 29. A total of 21 stages and 2,170 miles will take riders to Nice on the French Riviera.

This year’s Tour projects to be as memorable a Grande Boucle as any in recent history. Look no further than a star-studded start list that includes some of the biggest names in the sport — including the so-called “big four” of Tadej Pogačar, Jonas Vingegaard, Primož Roglič and Remco Evenepoel going at each other for the first time ever.

So, who will come out on top? That is anybody’s guess at this point in time, but here is our overview of who to keep an eye on over the next three weeks.

The phenomenon

Given what has transpired so far this season, there is one out-and-out favorite for this race. It’s none other than the best rider of his generation.

1. Tadej Pogačar (SLO), UAE Team Emirates: A two-time Tour de France winner already, the 25-year-old wunderkind is in the middle of what could end up being a historic season. His 2024 palmarès so far includes some dominant victories, including at the Giro d’Italia in May. Will he show any signs of fatigue after beating his competition by almost 10 minutes in the first grand tour of the season? Or was it just a three-week appetizer for what lies ahead? For what it’s worth, Pogačar himself — who changed his training regimen and personal coach since the last Tour de France — seems to think his best is yet to come . A scary thought.

The defending champion

One big reason why Pogačar is the favorite is that his main rival of the last three editions of the Tour de France was involved in a devastating crash in early April. Nonetheless, you can never count another two-time champion out either.

2. Jonas Vingegaard (DEN), Visma | Lease a Bike: Vingegaard was able to beat Pogačar in back-to-back years, and at a full 100 percent should be able to challenge the Slovenian megastar yet again. The question is: will he be at a 100 percent? The Dane suffered a punctured lung as well as rib and collarbone fractures at the Tour of Basque Country less than three months ago, and hasn’t raced since. His form is a mystery, and something his rivals might want to try to exploit early on in the Tour. If the 27-year-old is able to keep things close heading into the final week, however, his superb climbing abilities might put him right back into the conversation after all.

The uncertain stars

The last three years in particular were the Pogačar and Vingegaard show, and when at their best they are a clear step above the rest of the peloton as far as stage racing is concerned. However, two other riders are actually within striking distance themselves — even though they crashed alongside Vingegaard in April.

3. Primož Roglič (SLO), Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe: Vingegaard’s former teammate still has some unfinished business in France after narrowly losing the 2020 Tour to his compatriot Pogačar and failing to finish the race in both 2021 and 2022. At age 34, however, time is running out for the ex-ski jumper. Despite being on the older side compared to his closest rivals, Roglič is still a world-class rider — something he showed in the lead-up to the Tour de France when he won the Critérium du Dauphiné, despite a serious wobble on the final stage.

4. Remco Evenepoel (BEL), Soudal Quick-Step: Evenepoel was among the riders beaten by Roglič at the Dauphiné, but he appeared to focus more on his own build-up toward the Tour de France rather than the result in that particular race. Considering that he too crashed at Basque Country, this makes sense, but it creates an aura of uncertainty around the Belgian — especially when comparing himself to the Pogačars and Vingegaards of the world in a grand tour setting for the first time. Still, the talented youngster is a realistic podium contender in this race and might even be able to push for the top spot himself due to his time-trialling capabilities.

The outsiders

It would be quite a surprise if the winner wasn’t one of the big four of Pogačar, Vingegaard, Roglič or Evenepoel. That said, anything can happen in a three-week race and teams might be forced to adapt due to crash, crack, or illness. If so, a member of this group might end up on the top step of the podium when all is said and done.

5. Carlos Rodriguez (ESP), Ineos Grenadiers: Rodriguez may lack the star power of the top-ranked riders on this list, but he is no slouch either. He finished second, first, and fourth in his last three stage races this season, and was fifth in the Tour last year. With a strong Ineos Grenadiers team supporting him, he could jump onto the podium in 2024 in case the big four show some weakness.

6. Adam Yates (UK), UAE Team Emirates: Fresh off a win at the Tour de Suisse, Yates will serve as Pogačar’s right-hand man and top lieutenant the next three weeks. He is a quality general classification racer in his own right, however, and finished third behind his captain and Jonas Vingegaard in 2023. Another podium result is not out of the realm of possibility even with a support role as his primary job.

7. Matteo Jorgenson (USA), Visma | Lease a Bike: With Vingegaard’s form best classified as “TBD” and with fellow American Sepp Kuss scratched from the Visma | Lease a Bike start list due to medical reasons, the 24-year-old Jorgenson might be part backup leader, part super domestique starting off the race. Regardless of his role, he is more than capable of a top-three finish considering how his season has been going so far: he won Paris-Nice in March, and finished only 8 seconds down to Roglič at the Dauphiné earlier this month.

8. Juan Ayuso (ESP), UAE Team Emirates: Ayuso would be a leader on most teams, but being on the one headlined by Tadej Pogačar means he too will have to work for the big boss. That doesn’t mean he will not compete for a general classification spot as well, and be kept close to the race lead as a possible break-glass-in-case-of-emergency option.

9. Egan Bernal (COL), Ineos Grenadiers: One of four former Tour de France champions to start this year’s race alongside Pogačar, Vingegaard, and Ineos Grenadiers teammate Geraint Thomas, Bernal is in the middle of a good season. He has yet to win, yes, but for the first time since a career-altering crash in 2022 is competing at a top level again. A podium finish might still be out of reach, especially with Carlos Rodriguez ahead of him in the pecking order, but stranger things have happened.

10. João Almeida (POR), UAE Team Emirates: Almeida has finished in the top-10 in 13 of his 15 career stage races, including as No. 2 at the Tour de Suisse earlier this month. He is still only the fourth favorite among a stacked UAE squad, but similar to his teammate Ayuso might be kept in the running for as long as possible especially after showing some promising form in Switzerland.

11. Aleksandr Vlasov (RUS), Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe: Vlasov was Primož Roglič’s top helper at the Dauphine, and himself riding a good race to finish sixth overall. It was his fourth top-10 result in a stage race this year, and he could end up making some noise at the Tour de France as well if allowed to go for his own result on top of helping protect Roglič.

The best of the rest

Despite a clear hierarchy to the list of favorites, general classification ambitions will not end with the names above. In fact, plenty of riders will consider a top-10 result as a success and could even have their eyes on the podium under the right — or wrong, depending on how you look at it — circumstances.

That being said, the chances of somebody like Felix Gall, Tom Pidcock, Geraint Thomas, Enric Mas, Jai Hindley, Mikel Landa, Simon Yates, or Derek Gee winning or even podiuming this year’s Tour de France are fairly low. That does not mean they won’t play their part in making the race exciting, but they have not shown they can consistently challenge the top dogs.
