Take a trip to Kentucky’s legendary bourbon distilleries — from the big operations like Jim Beam, Buffalo Trace, Maker’s Mark and Woodford Reserve to quaint distilleries like Jeptha Creed, Barton 1792 and Bulleit Distilling. We plan your day on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail ® from start to finish. All public tours include transportation to three different distilleries, plus lunch.

Want to create your own Kentucky Bourbon Trail itinerary for a private group? This would be the perfect experience for a birthday party, bachelor or bachelorette party, anniversary, office outing and so much more. We will design your day and maximize your time for groups of all sizes. Also, several bourbon distilleries, craft breweries and food artisans offer exclusive tastings or private tours only available to Mint Julep Experiences customers. We can book one-day tours or multiple-day excursions.

We partner with Kentucky’s best bourbon distilleries, restaurants and destinations for special events throughout the year. Each of our elevated experiences takes you on a one-of-a-kind adventure . For instance, you can go behind the scenes of a taping of “Secrets of Bluegrass Chefs,” visit the Brown-Forman Cooperage, or go on two one-of-a-kind distillery tours on the Heaven & Evan ultimate bourbon experience.

Mint Julep Experiences launched the Bourbon City Cruisers, a fleet of electric-powered Tuk Tuks, in 2019. They offer a fun and intimate way to explore downtown Louisville with three separate tours: the Ultimate Sightseeing Tour, the Ultimate Distillery Tour and the Ultimate Urban Bourbon Cocktail Cruise. Each Bourbon City Cruiser fits up to six people, and the latter two tours include a cocktail with the price of admission. Tours are 2.5-3 hours long.

No they do not; we asked that as well; we all met at the designated location at their gift shop inside a downtown Hotel.

Did a father and son trip on the mint julep tour and say it exceeded our expectations would not do the experience justice. It was amazing. In fact because we had some extra time, they actually added an extra distillery for us. Also, the lunch was 4 star I would highly recommend this tour Great job guys. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

We had a fantastic tour experience. The best part was since we were a small group of 6 we had time to go to an additional distillery. This was our first guided tour, I now think it is worth the money to go on a guided tour. You get personal service, you get the knowledge of the tour guide, and the group of friends feeling after a bourbon tasting or three. However, you are on a schedule, but we never felt rushed.

Everything was perfect. Cindy was not only our fabulous driving but a Wonderful tour guide. She knew so much history about Louisville plus the bourbon trail and distilleries.

Lux Distillery

Highly recommend this tour! We did the Sunday brunch tour that included a brunch and alcoholic cocktail at brunch. Then we we went to Kentucky Artisan and Buffalo Trace. We did a tour and tasting at Kentucky artisan and an elevated guided tasting at Buffalo Trace. Both places were wonderful! Michael was our tour guide in mint Julep tours and he was knowledgeable and made it so fun! He was joking with us and telling stories on the bus to pass the time. They also provided water bottles and cups with ice for the ride back so we could sample our whiskeys we purchased in the bus!

My family and I did a bourbon trail tour yesterday and had an amazing time. Jeannie was great getting us all set up. She was knowledgeable and realistic about our bourbon tour schedule for the day. I am so glad we took her advice to modify our schedule a bit and give us a little more time to enjoy the stops. Doug was our driver and he was fantastic. He was personable and had a lot of information about Kentucky history, the distilleries, horses, and more. He was a safe driver and even stopped by for us to grab some board games on the way home. My mom left her sunglasses in the vehicle and Doug brought them to the hotel and personally dropped them off. Stellar service! He went above and beyond and really made our Kentucky trip. I would highly recommend this company!

What a great day! We did the brunch and bourbon tour. Started with a nice brunch and a cocktail. They needed to make sure we had a good base in our stomach before we started out to the tastings. Then out to the country to Bulleit and a very nice tour of the facility and a very unique tasting. Grabbed a cocktail, some lovely bourbon and off to the next stop. It was a smaller bourbon house and another tasting. What a great day! The guide Dan and Michael were very entertaining. I can't recommend them enough!

Absolutely fantastic! Our tour guide, Colonel Ron was so much fun! Lot's of history and bourbon!! Definitely a MUST!

This was an amazing tour! We decided to do this instead of renting a car and touring ourselves; best decision! The tour guides are so knowledgeable and it takes a lot of work off you in deciding route and which tour to choose. Our guide from Mint Julep, Cindy, was awesome and fun. We enjoyed meeting other people on our bus and we loved the distillery choices. The guides at the distilleries were the best and we loved the lunch in the historic inn. It was well worth the money!

Mixology at Home - Mint Julep

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - While the Mint Julep is associated with the derby (it is the official drink) it has been around long before the race, probably originated in Virginia sometime during the 18th century. It has changed some over the years, morphing from a sometimes-medicinal beverage to what it is today.

These days it is bourbon, simple syrup, muddled mint and a lot of crushed ice. But in the past, it was sometimes made with gin, rum, Cognac, brandy, even wine. Whatever spirit you use, a Mint Julep is refreshing on those hot summer afternoons. And of course, May 30 is National Mint Julep Day.

How did it end up associated with the Kentucky Derby? Not sure, but it has been the official drink since 1938, and they didn’t use Kentucky bourbon at first. It was Kentucky whiskey.

Ingredients

• 2 oz bourbon
• ½ oz simple syrup
• Powdered sugar
• Mint leaves

Directions : Clap four mint leaves between your hands to wake up the oils. Set one aside for garnish. Rub three leaves around the rim of a rocks glass. Then place the mint and syrup in the glass and gently muddle the mint. Add crushed ice and the bourbon before gently stirring. Add some more crushed ice to top it off, garnish with a mint leaf and a sprinkle of powdered sugar. It is that simple.
