Sent me used shoes

Journeys sent me used timberland boots. They arrived scuffed and had creases in the toes. I took pictures and sent them back. I was assured by customer service that I’d be receiving a new pair of boots, ones that hadn’t been worn. I was told that they were going to be high priority because of the garbage they sent me. I just received an email saying that they had been refunded instead because they no longer had them in stock. I explicitly told them the first time that I didn’t not want a refund that I wanted my shoes that i ordered. The refund they sent didn’t include the shipping I spent or did it include how much I had to spend on the packaging to return the shoes. Most they would do for me is offer me a 10 dollar gift card for my trouble. I will not be shopping with them again. Useless customer service. They lied and offer zero compensation. I even offered to exchange for a shoe that was comparable to the ones I ordered and they said no that they had already initiated a refund. Terrible customer service and the worst shoes I’ve ever bought from a retailer.

Poor return policy

I bought a package of socks using my debet card. A short time later I changed my mind and went toreturn them. The cashier tpld me I hade to give my name,phone # and my email address before she could process the return! No info, no return. Company policy.I do not give my info out lightly so we were at a dead lock! I gave false info to save my own but what a BS policy, I will not go in a Journeys store ever again.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. I purchased a pair of Converse sneakers 3 months ago. They have been lightly worn. Recently I noticed the rubber sole pulling away from the canvas part of the shoe. Obviously defective gluing. I no longer had the receipt but I had my credit card record showing the purchase and the original box the shoes came in. When I took the shoes back to the store for an exchange I was told they were worn and couldn’t be put back on the shelf if returned! That didn’t make any sense. The shoes were obviously defective. Is that Journeys policy to sell defective shoes? And of course the shoes were worn. Only by wearing them did the defect appear. I was told the only thing I could do was to talk to the district manager. She has never returned my calls. I’ve worn Converse for the last 20 years and never have I had this problem. I just wanted an exchange. I will never shop at Journeys again.

I wish I could give a zero rating for…

I wish I could give a zero rating for my experience with this company. I ordered a pair of shoes from Journeys and they were delivered via FedEx a day early while I was at work. Unfortunately they were stolen that same day from someone while I was gone. I have Blink Video footage and a police report but I was told there is absolutely nothing they can do once the package is delivered. 140 bucks for a pair of shoes. Terrible customer service. Most companies with replace or refund in the event of stolen goods. Especially when you can prove that they were physically taken off your porch.

Be careful when redeeming points

Be careful to not click redeem your points in the app unless you are positive you are going to be able to use the points. When I discovered the shoes I wanted were not available in the store or online, I called their customer service department. After requesting help with reinstating my points, I was told “there was nothing they could do for me”. I lost 500 points.

If I knew and read the reviews before I made a purchase, I would have definitely went somewhere else to buy my sneakers . Fed-Ex left package at the front of the house where anyone walking by can open the gate and take the package if fed Ex didn’t take package back , I left a big signed at the outside entrance to not leave package out front and to make a 2nd attempt if no one is available. Now I have no sneaker or any solution to my issue . Journey is not helpful with any of my issues and in other words . Journey is telling me you lost your money .

Got 2 different sizes in my order when both were labeled size 12 - took 2 weeks to get them to send a return label, and I purchased via klarna so they charge you every 2 weeks. I still got charged again with no refund processed when they said they processed it 2 weeks ago. Horrible service

Journeys sent me my order with 2 left…

Journeys sent me my order with 2 left shoes. Thus was a christmas gift for my fiance and the best they could do is ship it the Tuesday after Christmas. And I will need get it ready for shipment and send verification before they will start the process. I sent photos and still zero help besides me jumping through hoops for them. Never shop at journeys it's not worth saving $5 on the purchase by direct from manufacturer. I'm beyond disappointed how they shrugged me off with a well sir those are your otions.

Journeys in Newport Mall , Jersey City, NJ.. JYS 1265 Great customer service from salesperson ,Ramses! Such a nice young man , so patient, polite, & helpful. They didn’t have my daughter’s size but he ordered them online for me. The young lady at the register who was assisting Ramses ( bc he was new) was also amazing. Terrible customer service all around

Terrible customer service all around. They advertise an item as being on sale, then I couldn’t get the code to work. Messaged customer service days ago and didn’t get a response. Tried another method just for the customer service rep to tell me that they are not responsible for things being advertised incorrectly. I guess they like losing business. Terrible!

Shady shipping

Ordered two pairs of shoes, was given the same tracking for both. Only one pair arrived and with no notification. Second pair still hasn't shown up. The tracking is all over the place with delays and operation errors. I'm honestly not even sure the information is correct. Shady business practice. Update: Received the notification from Journeys that the shoes were delivered. No package, checked with neighbors too. Contacted customer service and was told they wouldn't do anything for me. Don't bother with them.

No refund for lost package

If i can give negative review rate i will ! Reported lost package last nov 29 to them and Fedex. Yes, it was delivered but placed on top of mailbox, an open area. So when my daughter got home it wasnt there anymore after wks , journeys email her saying they cant refund coz accdg to FedEx it was delivered. 1st , it was delivered yes, but lost it coz of fedex negligence placing it on an open area! 2nd. We dont care if Fedex denied the claim. We are not asking the refund to them. We are asking journey coz they are the seller. We bought it to them. JOURNEY should take responsibility. We will not stop till we get the refund. Planning to file complaint to california consumer act or to any govt agency if refund not made . Never will do business with Journeys anymore

Terrible customer experience, never received my exchange

Terrible customer experience. I tried to do an exchange and 8 weeks later i have received nothing. They made me CALL them to tell them the tracking number of the exchange and i was told three different times over the phone and via chat my exchange was processing. I was just told 8 weeks later that the exchange never went through, that i was given a refund, and that I should review their exchange policy. Terrible experience. Wasted so much of my time. Will never purchase from here again.

Awful customer service

Awful customer service. Someone stole my package from my door step and they refused to send out another package or refund me my money. FedEx delivered the package several days early (so I was not expecting it) and just left the package on the front steps for people to steal. Journeys is awful and I will not be ordering from them again.

Every time I pass by the shop in the…

Every time I pass by the shop in the Wellington Green Mall ( Florida) , I see the staff putting their dirty shoes on the bench and chatting with each other 😡. We sit in those chairs ( benches ) . Also They need keep the music in the background and allow shoppers to think about their purchases. Uptempo or fast-paced music encourages quicker shopping and fewer purchases!!

Ordered size 6, received 8. Twice. Rough customer service

Ordered a pair of shoes in a woman size 6, received man 6. Got in touch with the customer service who helped me return the shoes and supposedly sent me another pair in the right size: I received the same thing. Called them back, and had to argue very intensely to get them to take them back, get a return label and a refund. They didn’t want to hear what the problem was. First and last time for me!

This is absolutely the worst company in the world NEVER order shoes from them ever again unless you want to get your package in over a month!!! You will be on hold for over an hour just to ask a simple question their customer service people are very rude and unhelpful at the same time. Worse experience of my life with them. Major sportswear brands have been making training sneakers for years, but, ironically, they tend to feel like an afterthought in the shadows of signature sneakers and hyped-up collectible releases. It's easy to find yourself working out in the wrong shoes simply because you opted for brand recognition over intentional design.

Co-founded in 2015 by Marcus Wilson and Michael Schaeffer, Nobull is a sneaker startup giving athletes of all levels the tools they need to work out well. And if you were wondering where the name Nobull comes from, it's exactly what you're thinking — a "no bullshit" mentality around its products and business.

"The name reflects our brand's approach to everything from product design to marketing to content creation—everything you need, and nothing that you don't," said Wilson. "We are committed to authentic and aggressive simplicity."

Unsurprisingly, the brand was originally born out of the CrossFit community. Wilson knew his customers needed to be able to "run fast, lift heavy weights, rope climb, burpee and box jump." When it came to designing the brand's Trainer, he understood the importance of versatility, ultimately developing a shoe that would be able to handle the range of motion and intensity required for the most intense types of workouts.

But you don't have to be a CrossFit athlete to wear Nobull's shoes. The brand's approach to performance without the noise is what makes them uniquely appealing to people who simply want the right tools to train and do their best in the gym. 

We had two gym-goers at different places in their fitness journeys test Nobull's original crosstraining shoes, and two different styles of running shoes to see if they lived up to the hype.

The short answer: they did. 

Nobull Outwork Review

I see these trainers all over my gym, and after trying them, I understand why. They're a great cross-training shoe, but they're especially good if you're into weightlifting. I was a competitive weightlifter for four years, but the cool thing to do then was to wear Converse or Vans because of how flat the soles were. The Nobull Outworks are ... let's say ... much better.

The sole of the shoe is super flat with just the tiniest bit of a curve beneath the toe, which keeps you feeling stable beneath heavier weights (there's less cushioning in these than the Trainer+ style Amir tried, which I prefer for lifting). They also offer a light amount of arch support so I don't feel the insole pressing awkwardly against my arches when I'm lifting. I like that the inside of the tongue has a foam-like texture that grips well to my socks so there is absolutely no slippage when I'm pushing on a heavy leg press. 

The shoes come in lots of fun colors, but I'm partial to the white camo. I think it's a fun play on the classic white leather trainer, and it matches all my gym clothes.

You definitely won't catch me running in these as they don't have enough support and were not built for that kind of exercise, but I wear them for pretty much everything else. From circuit classes to resistance workouts, isometrics, and all types of weightlifting, these are my shoes of choice.

Nobull Impact Review

I'm far from a competitive weightlifter, but wearing shoes dedicated to training in the gym has made a huge difference in my workouts. Before testing the Nobull Impact shoes (formerly known as the Nobull Trainer+) , I'd wear any comfortable shoes to the gym — typically a pair of running sneakers. Although they're great for warming up on the treadmill or bike, I always found them to be too soft or unbalanced when deadlifting, using a squat rack, or any other weightlifting machine.

The Nobull Impact shoes solved that with super sturdy midsoles, flat grippy outsoles, and a durable abrasion-resistant upper. Feeling planted on the ground not only gave me more confidence while doing those exercises, but it was also safer.

These pairs differ from the original trainers in that they have a bit more support and cushion in the sole with a little extra traction.

The Nobull Impact shoes fit true to size. I wouldn't recommend sizing up or down. If you size up, you'll potentially lose that sturdy, planted feel they provide and if you size down, they'll likely be too tight. — Amir Ismael, style editor, Insider Reviews

Nobull Aspire Review

As the Insider Reviews resident sneaker expert and collector, I've tested a variety of knit running sneakers from major sportswear brands and startups alike. While the concept of being lightweight, breathable, and flexible is the same across brands, Nobull's Aspire shoe (formerly known as the Knit Runner) really impressed me with its delivery. The upper is stretchier than any other knit material I've worn on my feet, but the shoes still feel secure with the sock-like treatment around the ankles and the heel counters.

The Nobull Aspire did an excellent job with energy absorption while running short distances. The midsoles are made of a bouncy phylon foam material, which is typically what you can expect on a running shoe at this price range. There are more comfortable running sneakers that I think are better equipped for long-distance running from other brands, but with superior cushioning technology comes a higher price tag. 

Aside from performance and comfort, I really like the aesthetic. If you enjoy running sneakers as a style statement, but prefer pairs with minimal branding, these are a great choice.

I typically wear a size 8.5 running sneakers. I went with my true size for the Knit Runners and found them to fit perfectly. If you prefer a more relaxed fit I would recommend going up a half size as the sock-like fit will still keep them secure on your feet. — Amir Ismael, style editor, Insider Reviews

Nobull Journey Review

I opted for the Journey (formerly known as the Runner+) instead of the regular Runner pair because I love an extra bit of cushioning when walking and running. These are extremely bouncy and cushioned, not far off from a pair of Hokas. The first time I wore them on the treadmill, it was like launching off springs. I definitely wouldn't want to wear these for weight training, but I love them for fast-paced walking and short-distance running. 

The breathable mesh upper prevents my feet from getting sweaty, and the insole has just enough arch support. Despite how bouncy they are, I feel grounded in them, thanks to great traction. I was worried the thickness of the foam would lead to crushing or buckling over time but they're still as firm and bouncy as the first day I got them.

My only complaint about this pair is that I could see a bit of the glue where the foam sole met the fabric, which was surprising straight out of the box. It hasn't resulted in any issues as far as construction or quality so far, but it did give me pause at first. I'll report back if I have any issues, but it's been several months of running and walking in these and they've managed to hold up really well.

I'm usually a true size 8 and I very well could have sized down to a 7.5 in these for a snugger fit, but I happen to like a little extra room to wiggle my toes because I deal with cramping in my arches. I don't find my feet slipping around or anything, but there's definitely more breathing room than most size 8 sneakers (including Nobull's trainers, which fit like a true size 8). — Sally Kaplan, executive editor, Insider Reviews

The name Nobull might be catchy, but it's clear that the products live up to their promise. If you're already putting in the work at the gym, you can rely on Nobull sneakers to give you the support, comfort, and traction needed to complete your workouts. The Best Hoka Walking Shoes in 2024, According To A Podiatrist

Our love for Hoka knows no bounds. After all, the King of Cushion makes incredibly chunky and stylish running sneakers that feel like you're walking on Cloud Nine. According to the experts we spoke with, Hoka's thick cushioning also makes it an ideal brand for walking shoes . “Hoka walking sneakers are great because they offer an appropriate amount of support, stability, and comfort,” says podiatrist Brad Schaeffer, DPM , foot surgeon and owner of Central Park Sole in New York City.

Since the brand launched in 2009, Hoka has churned out a bunch of great styles purpose built for all sorts of activities—from road running to hiking, and everything in between. All those models can get pretty overwhelming if you're looking for a great walking shoe. But that's why we enlisted the help of Schaeffer; Bruce Pinker, DPM , foot and ankle surgeon; as well as our intrepid WH editors, on the right walking sneaks for you.

Best Hoka Walking Shoes

What to consider.

“I like to advise my patience to get a neutral walking shoe,” says Schaeffer. A neutral walking shoe puts your foot in a neutral position, according to the podiatrist. “As in you are not over prating or over supinating,” says Schaeffer. Ideally, you want the insole of your Hoka running shoe to meet the arch of your foot, without pushing it too high or letting it collapse inward. If the arch is too high, it will force your foot to roll outwards (along the pinky-toe side) as you walk a.k.a over supinate. On the flip side, an arch that is too low will cause your foot to roll inwards a.k.a over pronate.

A typical Hoka sneaker has a combination of thick cushioning and mesh upper, making it incredibly comfortable. The breathable upper makes sure that any foot sweat has room to evaporate, which is especially useful for those hot weather walks. Meanwhile, a cushioned outsole keeps your feet comfortable as you walk.

Plus, Schaeffer says that several pairs of Hoka shoes feature a “rocker bottom," which refers to a little lift under the heel and the toe so that those two parts of the shoe don’t touch the ground when you’re standing still–similar to the base of a rocking chair. That shape helps you to walk from heel-to-toe, which means you excert less energy to propel your strides. After all, we could use a little help getting out steps in.

How we selected

These sneakers tick off all the boxes for a Hoka walking shoe. We love the H-frame insole, which is hard on sides and soft in the middle, to keep your feet from rolling. That's especially important for people with flat feet, who tend to overpronate. Plus, the mesh upper is breathable–which will let all of the foot sweat evaporate out of the shoe after miles of walking. "They manage to be soft, light, and supportive," a tester previously told WH.

However, several testers note that these shoes are too roomy for their feet–which makes them feel like they’re wearing “clown shoes.” So, if your feet are on the narrow side, you might want to keep scrolling for a different pair of sneakers.

These are Schaefffer’s favorite Hoka walking shoes, citing its breathable mesh upper, stability, and semi-rocker bottom. These features mean your feet will feel supported, comfortable, and dry during even the longest walks. WH News Editor Currie Engel previously tried these sneakers and found that they’re a great choice for daily errands, easy hikes, and general NYC walk-arounds, too.

One thing to keep in mind is that, for the best arch support, you might have to swap out the insole for your own. “I put my [own] custom orthotics into these shoes to provide a greater level of support,” says Schaeffer.

If you’re looking for a sneaker with a blend of balance and stability, try these walking shoes. Schaeffer previously told WH, “It provides a nice mix of cushion and stability.” The outsole features plush cushioning and a rocker bottom to comfortably prepel you forward during your long distance walks. Meanwhile, the insole has a symmetrical bed of cushioning to help stabilize, and center your feet in a neutral position.

But, the podiatrist isn’t the only one who’s a fan of these plush sneakers. “They provide so much support, and I love walking in them too,” Women's Health assistant editor Addison Aloian says. However, depending on your foot arch, you might get the best fit if you swap the included insoles for your own.

Of the four sets of Dungeons & Dragons themed sneakers announced, these were my favorite.

There’s nothing quite like summer convention season. Seeing all the new things coming to tables and nerd caves and hanging out with fellow fans in the flesh is such a refreshment after lurking on the Internet for months. These gatherings also offer a chance to meet creators and the minds behind our favorite games, stories and more.

It’s also amazing to the the wide variety of nerdy clothing options at summer shows. I remember the San Diego Comic Con where Hellfire Club shirts were everywhere. Companies have realized that nerds want to be decked out in clothes that celebrate their fandoms the same way that sports fans do.

Dungeons & Dragons has been moving into this field for years. This year’s 50th Anniversary has kicked the idea into high gear with a new set of gear from Converse. The folks there were king enough to send along some samples to see up close.

Converse x Dungeons & Dragons Collection

The Converse x Dungeons & Dragons Collection debuted at Gary Con 2024. It offered a mixture of sports shirts, hats and, of course, sneakers. Each of these pieces features artwork pulled from the five decades long history of the game. Most of the pieces are black and white giving the whole collection an old school vibe.

The shoes come in a few varieties. There are two styles of Chuck 70 high tops in leather and two styles in the classic Chuck Taylor All Star style. There are also two styles of shoes made for kids who are just starting out on their D&D journey.

As someone who has been going to conventions for 35 years, I swear by Chuck Taylor All Star as the best convention shoes. They are comfortable all day and keep me on my feet even my shoulders hurt from hauling books and I’m ready for a nap. My current pair are just ready to reach retirement age after 15 years of comic cons, gaming conventions and at least one trip to Walk Disney World.

I was excited when Converse announced D&D themed shoes. I will be attending Gen Con this year which sounds like an excellent opportunity to break in a new pair of shoes. I picked up the black, white and green All Star from my local Journeys and took them on a quick mall walk to check them out.

The shoes are full of fun details all over the place. My favorite is the inside of one of the tongues made up to look like an old school character sheet. The shoes also come in a mimic shoebox which I immediately repurposed to hold various cards, dice and other essential D&D equipment for my game nights.

The shoes felt just as comfortable as my old pair of high tops from the first wear. I’ve worn them a few more times on short trips but I primarily save my Chucks for conventions. They already feel like trusty companions for my first trip to Indianapolis in years.
