One Piece Treasure Cruise tier list

One Piece Treasure Cruise tier list

This game has over 4000 characters. New players will get intimidated by it, and that's why there's a great need for the One Piece Treasure Cruise tier list.

If there’s any franchise that Bandai Namco loves to promote in their games, it’s One Piece. This is no surprise, given it's been the biggest of the "big three" shonen manga series for decades. And with a huge roster of characters and a decades-long publishing cycle covering anime, manga, movies and even a live-action series, there’s plenty of content to pull from.

This is especially true of Namco’s One Piece Treasure Cruise, a mobile RPG that’s been going strong since 2014, and has been constantly updated with the new characters added to the Straw Hat Pirates since. But, with such a massive roster that means that picking the wheat from the chaff can be difficult, so we’ve done our research and compiled our own tier list ranking the different crewmates and captains of One Piece Treasure Cruise!

Piratevolution

So, for example, when you play the tutorial you play as a child version of Luffy, and one of your first actions on starting the main story proper is to evolve Luffy into his iconic young adult version - straw hat and red vest included. That means that functionally you can knock a few thousand characters off that list, although you’ll still have a comfortably numbing amount to choose from.

For the  One Piece Treasure Cruise tier list, we’re going to come at it from the angle of characters with the most potency, the best synergy and the best evolutions. To keep things at least somewhat feasible, we’ll name the characters in general - assume that this covers their evolutions and unique variants as well. So a character with one very good variant may not be ranked high, even if their one variant is extremely good, but won’t rank bottom based on their lackluster variants either.

Essentially, we’re grading on an average with each tier set out in no particular order, so don't worry if your favourite is the bottom of S tier because they're still S tier - but without further ado, let’s set sail!

It shouldn’t be surprising that the Straw Hat Pirates and their close allies are mainly at the very top of the One Piece Treasure Cruise tier list. Given the iconic nature of the series, Luffy, Nami, Zoro and the others are constantly receiving new unique variations.

Not only that, but the fact that the crew is canonically so close means that the synergy behind their different slot types (STR, INT, and PSY) is incredible, so if you want a simple and effective set of characters to shoot for, the Straw Hats are a great choice.

Not only that but since you acquire Luffy and the others to begin with, evolving them - and in some cases needing them for story progress - is basically your default progression path anyway.

As for Gol D. Roger - he’s the king of the pirates, where else do you expect him to go? Right, in all seriousness his abilities of his default variation - causing true damage and ignoring any effects to the contrary - has earned many cries of OP, congruent with his rarity.

A tier is where you’ll find a large number of characters; One Piece boasts a massive cast, and many of them are fan favourites who are well-represented in Treasure Cruise.

The Admirals in particular boast a vast variety of evolutions and variant cards, while the famous pirates (Shanks, Mihawk, Buggy etc.) outside the central Straw Hat crew boast unique cards and evolutions too.

If you want to move outside the comfortable familiarity of the Straw Hat Crew then exploring the options these characters open up is a great pick.

Characters relegated to this tier either have convoluted evolution paths, or simply not straightforward ones and lacklustre lower-rarity cards.

Coby and Helmeppo top this list, as despite having interesting career paths in the series - going from background characters with the more cartoonish designs seen earlier in the series to genuinely capable fighters on their own - their evolution paths only go up once.

They still have strong variants, but not necessarily as easily acquired, or worthwhile on their own as upper-tier characters.

This tier is where you’ll find characters that are named, and are useful if you pull them but can be superseded by better characters or are only useful in certain circumstances. They’re still useful in areas like the early and mid-game and are well worth learning to use, although they aren’t exactly ones you’ll be excited to pull.

Nevertheless they’re not instant sales, and if you’re interested in gathering as many named characters as possible it’s more than worth knowing that these are available for completion's sake. It’s also strangely fitting for Usopp that his absentee father only has a single variant in Treasure Cruise, even compared to other Red-Hair pirates like Roux.

Characters in this tier are somewhat more useful than the ones relegated to the E tier. They’re still likely not going to be a lynchpin or even journeymen characters you use for any significant length of time, but they’re not immediate sells and can be useful in special circumstances or are needed for story missions.

Note: Characters in italics are part of a series - for example; there are different variations of the navy ensign with damage types, but they all fall under the same ranking. The Mr-series are individual agents of Baroque Works, and have their own independent variations but fall under the same category for the purpose of brevity.

one piece treasure cruise king

Characters at the bottom of the One Piece Treasure Cruise tier list are, to use the nomenclature of fandom, “trash”. These are functionally useless with next to no levelling potential and are simply there to fill out rosters and provide synergy before you get a named character that can then be used for that space in your crew if even that. Advice is to sell, sell, sell as these characters can’t even be used for evolutions.

Generally, any generic tier character that’s part of a series is useless except if you’re literally just starting out, although even then you’re likely to roll at least one much better character before you leave the tutorial proper.

This includes lower-tier generic characters, but as you can see in the next tier up, there are generic characters that have utility. However, characters in this tier rarely if ever are needed even for story missions. Generally, many “animal” characters that aren’t named fall under this category too.

Note, the world nobles, the “Saints” have an extremely high sell value compared to the usual fodder. So they can be an easy way to big money.

8 Nil Tier - Evolvers & Boosters

one piece treasure cruise king

While 4000 characters sound impressive, there is a significant portion that can be discarded from our ranking. In this case the evolution and booster characters - such as the Crabs, Penguins, and Pigs. These are characters that are acquired solely to use for evolving your other characters or boosting their level and won’t factor into any team build. However, it’s worth looking these up regardless to gauge their rarity, what they’ll contribute if used for evolution and whatnot - so you know whether to save them, there are numerous fan resources that list elements such as the materials you can use for certain evolutions so you don’t miss out on a preferred character.

9 Further Resources

Fortunately, with almost ten years of development and fandom growth under its belt (makes you feel old doesn’t it?) One Piece Treasure Cruise has a wealth (pun intended) of resources available. Check out sites like the One Piece Treasure Cruise wiki for a comprehensive overview of the currently available characters and notes on their utility.

Also, with One Piece Treasure Cruise tier list in mind, do remember that with many gacha games, older characters are likely to drop in usage as you get to higher-tier content or newer content. Meanwhile, characters which will likely be lacklustre in a few years still have their niche. So give newer characters a chance if you don’t find their placement on this list agreeable.

Naturally, since these are fan resources we can’t guarantee they’ll always be correct, but given the mind-bogglingly huge variety of things to do in the One Piece Treasure Cruise, they’re a great place to get started.

Gameplay [ ]

General [ ].

Treasure Cruise follows the standard turn-based gameplay of traditional RPGs. The game proceeds through a variety of islands based on the different story arcs of the series. Each island contains a number of different levels where the player fights hordes of enemies.

Crew Information [ ]

The player can organize up to eight crews with the playable characters they acquire as they progress through the story,  gacha  pulls and various promotions. They can put up to six people in each crew, and can also sacrifice the generic playable enemy and animal characters to increase the levels of and evolve other characters.

One Piece Treasure Cruise features simple tap controls. An attack is initiated by tapping any character in the lower part of the screen, and tapping other characters at the right time forms combos and deals extra damage. The combos are "miss", "good", "great", and "perfect". Also, the player can have a chain attack boost for getting good, great, and perfect. Many characters possess unique special abilities that can to help turn the battle in the player's favor.

Characters [ ]

Almost all characters that are present in gameplay are acquirable as playable characters. The only exception so far is Frieza , who was available in a past crossover event. Most characters also come in many different versions depending on what part of the manga they come from, or different promotional events.

Every One Piece Mystery Is Connected By One Simple Explanation

One piece's most hated story was actually ruined by the anime, one piece finally fixes a huge plothole of the egghead arc.

Warning: Contains spoilers for chapter #1115 of One Piece.

  • Laugh Tale, the final treasure in One Piece, may be underwater near Loguetown, as hinted at from the first chapter.
  • The shift of the poles caused by a 90-degree axis shift could explain many of the series' mysteries.
  • Laugh Tale being submerged may explain the need for all four Road Poneglyphs to pinpoint its exact location.

The location of the final treasure is easily one of One Piece 's most trifling mysteries. Even after two decades, neither the Straw Hats nor readers, for that matter, are any closer to finding the infamous treasure. However, a popular theory hints that the answer to this elusive mystery may have been hiding in plain sight all along. In fact, Roger may have spoiled the location of the final treasure in the very first chapter of the series.

Amongst the innumerable theories about One Piece that have emerged over the years, this one by Youtuber Drop the Pizza , is most convincing. Not only does this theory fit in perfectly with Oda's tendency to drop subtle hints years in advance, but also agrees with the series' sense of humor and irony.

According to this theory, the world of One Piece is literally turned on its side due to a 90-degree shift of the planet's axis that happened at some point in the past, with the North and South poles shifting positions. This would not only connect an incredible number of mysteries in the series but also reveal the location of the final treasure. Based on this theory, the shifting of the Poles caused catastrophic changes, including a reversal of sea currents.

The One Piece Is Hidden Underwater Close to Loguetown

Roger may have been sarcastic when calling laugh tale the final island.

Hence, Polestar Island (where Loguetown is situated) and Lodestar Island (the last island on the Grand Line) should have switched places. Lodestar would then be actually "Road Start", while Polestar would be the final destination via the Twin Capes. The names of the two islands also hint at Reverse Mountain being the former North Pole, as 'pole star' and 'lode star' are often used to refer to the North Star.

If so, water levels around Reverse Mountain would have been significantly lower during the past owing to centrifugal force which pushes more water towards the equator than the poles. Loguetown may thus be part of the same submerged landmass that extends across Reverse Mountain. Hence, Laugh Tale as well as the legendary One Piece treasure may actually be underwater or even under Reverse Mountain in a classic 'X marks the spot' fashion.

Ironically, that would suggest that Roger searched the entire world for the treasure only to find it near his own hometown on Polestar Island, Loguetown, fittingly known as the town of beginnings and endings. Hence, when Roger said he left his treasure 'there' in Chapter #1, he quite literally meant 'right there'.

While the word ' there ' may be vague in English, the word Roger uses in Japanese, ' Soko ,' is very specific and means 'right there' or a place relatively near. The treasure being near Loguetown would not only explain why Roger laughed in Chapter #967 but also his sarcastic tone when he referred to the Laugh Tale as the ' final island ' that no one had been to in 800 years, which was hinted at through the emboldening of the word in the manga.

The Reversal Of The Poles Explains All Of One Piece 's Mysteries

A pole shift also may have contributed to the rise in sea levels.

Laugh Tale being submerged could explain why Roger's crew might have been too early, and maybe even why the panel explaining the ship coating process at Sabaody is one of Oda's favorites, assuming the bubble coating is the key to reaching Laugh Tale. Moreover, this possibility also draws attention to the countless submerged islands the Straw Hats have come across on the course of their adventure including Wano , Water Seven, Impel Down, and even Long Ring Long Land.

This simple connection may explain every One Piece mystery including Devil Fruits, the Lunarians, and the secrets of the Void Century.

One Piece's Latest Revelations Further Hint at Laugh Tale Being Underwater

Vegapunk's message reveals the world of one piece was sunk during the void century.

While the pole shift theory remains a very interesting possibility that could still hold some merit to it, the latest chapters of the Egghead Arc have revealed the true reason why One Piece 's world is covered in oceans and it further points to Laugh Tale being underwater. Vegapunk's posthumous message to the world has revealed that the Ancient Weapons in fact caused the world to flood during the Void Century , raising the sea levels by 200 meters.

Vegapunk strongly implies that Uranus may have been responsible for sinking the world, judging by how the destruction of Lulusia caused the sea levels to rise by a meter.

In chapter #1115, Vegapunk even claims that the world as the people of One Piece know it at present is made up of mere pieces of a submerged continent, supporting the theory that Lodestar and Polestar could be part of the same stretch of land . The chapter even shows a glimpse of a submerged ancient civilization, like the old Wano country, and Laugh Tale may be in a very similar state, which would explain why the World Government hasn't been able to find it all these years.

Furthermore, the fact that Rayleigh went on to become a ship coater while Crocus went on to live inside a whale after the Roger Pirates disbanded further proves that they and the rest of the crew likely knew the truth about One Piece 's world all along . The Roger Pirates may even have anticipated the world being flooded in the future, with Rayleigh and Crocus taking up their new lifestyles in preparation for the same.

Laugh Tale Being Submerged Explains the Need for Four Road Poneglyphs

Considering that the One Piece is technically Joyboy's treasure, it has likely been at Laugh Tale ever since the Void Century, which means that Joyboy might have been aware that the island would sink or if it already had before his death, allowing for the Road Poneglyphs to be made accordingly.

This explains why one would need all four poneglyphs to find the final island as it would be possible to locate it otherwise. While three poneglyphs would be enough to narrow down a general area, the fourth Road Poneglyph would be crucial to pinpointing Laugh Tale's exact location and even how deep under the sea the island is.

Overall, it would certainly be a huge surprise to find out that the clue to discover the most prized treasure in the world and the biggest secret in One Piece was literally given out in the very first chapter. Nevertheless, only Oda knows what the series has in store for the finale and the location of the final treasure and regardless of how true this theory may or may not be, the ending of One Piece is sure to be epic.

One Piece is available from Manga Plus and Viz Media.

Created by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece is a multimedia franchise that began as a manga series and follows the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates as led by Monkey D. Luffy. Luffy, an enthusiastic pirate with a thirst for adventure, is afflicted by a mysterious curse that gives him various powers he uses to protect himself and his friends. The manga eventually gave way to the anime series, with the two being some of history's longest-running anime and manga series. Along with over fifty video games made over the years, the series entered the live-action world with Netflix's 2023 adaptation.
