DUBAI TOURIST VISA EXTENSION PROCESS

Visit visa extension in Dubai has become easier with the UAE government’s introduction of online channels and portals. These service channels allow you to conveniently manage entry permits, their validity, extension, and cancellation processes. Let’s first take a look at the visa extension process.

ELIGIBILITY

Before applying for a Dubai visa extension, you must check whether you fit the eligibility criteria. To apply for an extension, you must be a citizen of an eligible country and hold a valid passport with at least 6 months expiry date.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR VISA RENEWAL IN DUBAI

You will need the following documents to renew your tourist visa in Dubai.

• A transcript of the applicant’s passport. Ensure the passport has a minimum validity of six months.
• A passport-size photo with a white background.
• Valid health insurance.
• A ticket to and from your country.
• Proof of a hotel/place of residence.

VISA RENEWAL/EXTENSION SERVICE CHANNELS

There are multiple ways to apply for a visit visa extension in Dubai. You can choose any of the methods listed below. They allow you to extend your visa for one or more trips for the same period.

• Sign up or log in to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai ( GDRFA ) app.
• Go to the dashboard and open dependent visa details.
• Tap the “Renew Residence” icon.
• Fill up the details.
• Select delivery method.
• Attach documents.
• Submit the fee.
• Wait for SMS/email confirmation.

• Login/Register to the GDRFA website.
• Click the “Services Guide”.
• Go to the “Entry Permissions” option and click “Entry Permissions Sevices”.
• Scroll down to the “Extension of entry permit” option and click it.
• Select the most relevant service from the options listed on the site.
• Click the “Start the Service” icon on the top-left.
• Go to Amer’s website (amer247.com).
• Click “UAE tourist visa” in the top-right corner. You will be redirected to a new tab featuring 14 types of tourist visas varying based on the number of days, validity and prices.
• Select the most relevant one for you and click “Apply Now”.
• Fill out the form by entering your credentials and travel details (number of passengers, passport copies and photos with white background).
• Pay the fee.
• Proceed to the completion of the process.
• Go to the nearest Amer typing centre in Dubai .
• Buy a queue ticket and wait.
• Submit your application.
• Wait for your request to proceed.

VISA PROCESSING TIME

Usually visa extension in Dubai takes 3 to 5 business days. However, the time may vary according to your visa type and other specific requirements.

Once you’re extended visa is processed, you can collect it via the visa application centre or a local post office as directed by the authorities.

HOW TO EXTEND TOURIST VISA IN DUBAI UPON ARRIVAL

Citizens of some countries can renew tourist visa in Dubai upon arrival for the same period. Here’s how to do it.

• Log in to the GDRFAD smart service system through username or UAE Pass
• Search for the visa renewal service
• Fill in the application data
• Pay the service fee

The following citizens can apply for a visit visa extension in Dubai upon arrival:

• USA visa holder
• US National
• UK residence visa holder
• Citizens with residence visa from European Union countries
• Indian national with at least one special visa that is valid for six months or more

COST OF TOURIST VISA EXTENSION IN DUBAI

The general visit visa renewal UAE price is AED 600 with a 5% value-added tax. However, for those inside the country, the fee is AED 500.

The following additional fees are applicable if the sponsored person is inside the country.

Please note that the total visit visa renewal UAE price may vary depending on the circumstances surrounding the sponsored individual.

DUBAI TOURIST VISA EXTENSION FINE

Visa overstayers who don’t renew their tourist visa will have to pay a fine of AED 50 for each extra day they have overstayed. There used to be a 10-day grace period after which the fine was imposed. However, that is no longer the case, and the fine is imposed right after the day your visa has expired.

VISIT VISA EXTENSION IN DUBAI RULES

• There are multiple types of tourist visas in Dubai , including five-year multiple entry tourist visa, Dubai visa on arrival and Dubai Visit Visa for GCC Nationals and Residents.
• You can extend the validity period of UAE visa for additional 30 days, it can be done twice for every 30 days.
• You can stay in the country for up to 120 days within the same year, this is the maximum duration allowed, and after this, you will have to extend your visa.
• Check the expiry date of the first extension and apply for a second renewal before it expires.

EXEMPTION FROM A TOURIST VISA EXTENSION IN DUBAI

Certain tourists are not required to apply for a tourist Dubai visa extension. These include:

• Residents in GCC countries
• Visitors accompanied by GCC nationals
• Those on special entry permits
• Those on a “96-hour permit for special missions”

• Visit the online portal of ICP/ICA.
• Click on the “Services” tab.

• Scroll down to the “Extension of a Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa” and click it.
• Click the “Start Service” icon in the top-right corner.
• Register via UAE Pass.
• Apply to extend permit (Single/multiple entries).

DO AIRLINES OFFER A VISIT VISA IN THE UAE?

You can apply for a visit visa through airlines like Etihad Airways, Emirates, Fly Dubai and Air Arabia. Each of them has different conditions. However, their basic condition is that you are flying with them.

Yes, foreigners employed outside the UAE can apply for a virtual work visa . This one-year visa allows you to enter the country under self-sponsorship and work as per the terms and conditions of the issued visa.

Is 90 days visa extension possible.

90 days visa extension is not possible any more. Previously Abudhabi and Sharjah immigration has replaced 90 ays visa with 60 days. From Nov 1st 2022 Dubai also replaced their 90 days visa to 60 days. Now customers can apply 60 days inside country visa change. Please talk to our agent for more details

What is the new rule of 60 days visa?

The new rule of 60 days inside country visa is already implemented by Abudhabi and Sharjah immigration. The previous 90 days visa has been replaced by 60 days visa. As Per 01/11/2022 Dubai also have removed the 90 days option to 60 days visa extension

My visa will get expire on September 10. Can I avail inside country visa change?

Pay around 990 AED to extend your 30 days free on-arrival visa. The UAE government grants you a 10 days grace period in case you miss on your expiry dates and offers you 20 days after you apply for extension. Cumulatively, you get to spend 60 days in the UAE from the day one to your departure date.

You may exit UAE briefly to the neighboring countries like Oman and apply for an express visa back to the country. You can either travel by road to the other country or opt for airport transfer which is faster.

Visa Extension for Cancelled Residents Visa Holder

If you are already in the UAE and your visa gets cancelled, the UAE Immigration grants you a free 30 to 60 days grace period to decide on the way forward in the country. If you decide to exit the country, take this time to settle your tenancy contracts, mobile bills, credit card, loans and home connections and then exit the UAE. If you are switching jobs or want to stay longer, make use of the grace period to obtain a tourist visa. UAE visa extension new rules - 2024

The UAE government has come up with new visa extension regulations that ought to be adhered to by every traveler.

Dubai residents are now allowed to sponsor family and friends to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days. This visa will allow travelers to enter any of the GCC countries, which includes, the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain without any constraints. Dubai: Visit visa-holders no longer need to leave the country to amend the status of their visa to a residency permit, the Ministry of Interior revealed on Sunday.

Brigadier Dr Rashid Sultan Al Khadar, spokesman for the Naturalisation, Residency and Ports department at the Ministry of the Interior, said that under resolution 377 of 2014, visa-holders of all types can modify the status of their entry and residency permits while staying in the country.

“Customers will be able to amend the status of their entry permits electronically through a few quick and user-friendly steps,” he said. “As a result, visitors will not need to leave the country, instead updating their visa status and paying all the necessary fees while in the UAE.”

Comparing the resolution to the previous rule, Brig Al Khadar said: “Earlier, if a person, while in the UAE on a visit visa, happens to find a job, he or she will have had to exit the UAE to amend residency status. This is no longer the case. The same applies to spouses of residents or anyone wishing to amend the terms of their entry permits.”

He denied media reports that one-month visit visas will be granted an extension and clarified that people who come on one-month visit visa, transit visa or tourist visa can immediately apply for another visa once they leave the country.

An official from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) said the decision will help those wishing to amend their visa status without the burden of travel. “The resolution is applicable to every type of entry permit,” he said.

Brig Al Khadar said that the decision seeks to save time and effort.

“Companies and visitors should submit their applications to renew the status of their permits before they expire to avoid any violations,” he said, adding that “people can refer to any of the immigration offices or ports of entry in the UAE for the services”.

Dubai visit visa change: How A-to-A exit works

Since December, UAE visit visa holders were required to exit the country before they could be issued a renewed or extended visa.

The practice has been in place before the pandemic, but when Covid-19 hit, authorities allowed people to renew their visas without leaving the country for health and safety reasons.

However, with procedures now back to normal, the relaxed rules have been revoked and visit visa holders wanting to renew or extend their visa must exit the UAE. Airport to airport exits to countries like Kuwait, Oman or Bahrain are among the popular choices.

Speaking to Expatmedia.net on Wednesday (February 8), visit visa holder Georgina S (full name withheld) said she was able to do her airport-to-airport visa change arranged by a Dubai-based travel agency. Georgina needed to extend her visa to stay longer with her family in Dubai. As advised by her travel agent, the important documents she brought with her at the airport were her passport and her old visa. The travel agency arranged for her a flydubai flight to Kuwait for her airport-to-airport exit.

How the airport-to-airport visa exit works from Dubai:

1. Reach the Dubai airport (Terminal 2) at least five hours ahead of flight departure time.

2. If you have overstayed your visa and have incurred fines, go to the Immigration area to clear the fines. Disregard this step if you have not overstayed your visa.

3. Check in at the airline check-in counter.

4. Go to the Immigration counter and clear your exit. Make sure you have an exit stamp on your passport.

5. Send a clear photo of the exit stamp to the travel agency.

6. Wait at the departure gate and take the flight on time.

7. Upon landing in your destination country, head to the transfer desk and wait for your return flight to Dubai. Board the flight on time.

8. Once you land back at the Dubai airport, go to the transfer desk and wait for your new visa. Do not go to the Immigration section without a new visa.

9. Once your new visa is approved and issued, a copy will be sent to you through WhatsApp or email.

10. You can show the new visa in your phone at the Immigration desk and enter the UAE.

There is no ban on visit or work visas for single Pakistani men under the age of 42 traveling to Dubai.

This is not the first instance of such misinformation spreading online. Last year, similar rumors claimed that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had stopped issuing visit visas to residents of several Pakistani cities. These reports were even affirmed by some local travel agents without proper verification or any official statement from the authorities.

In response to these earlier rumors, the Pakistan Foreign Office denied any specific ban by the UAE on issuing visas to Pakistanis from certain cities. The Consulate General of the UAE in Karachi also labeled these rumors as “fake news,” emphasizing that no such restrictions had been implemented.

The fact of the matter is, that uae is restricting visas for certain cities in Pakistan. I had traveled to Dubai twice in 2022 and these were family. However later in the same year my we wanted to make another trip. My travel agent told me that I will no.longer get a visa as my city of birth is restricted. I ignored and him applied and was rejected. I applied one more time through emirates and I was rejected again, however, this time I received an email from VFS global which clearly stated that my city of birth is being restricted by uae and my case can not be processed. I I have been rejected 4 times since 2022 and I have two separate emails from vfs global that state these facts. Btw, I am quite financially stable and I have been traveling to countries with family since. So the new is true I am a victim along with many others of this unjust restriction. We pay a visa processing few and so we should be judged individually and not collectively.

The UAE recently introduced a change in its visit visa renewal policy because of which visitors must now exit the country in order to apply for a renewal or extension. As the holiday season kicks in, agencies have started offering packages for tourists to travel and renew their visa at the same time.

Travel agencies are offering packages with countries that offer visas-on-arrival and e-visas to several nationalities. “We have selected these countries for their affordability and easy access without consuming much of the time in travelling,” said Libin Varghese, director of sales, Rooh Travel and Tourism.

The countries are:

“The package price for Georgia and Azerbaijan start at Dh2,023, excluding visa renewal. If one wants to renew their visas, an extra charge of Dh600 is applicable,” said Varghese.

Countries like Armenia, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, and Thailand are priced at Dh1,800 to Dh2,000 without renewal of the UAE visa. “With UAE visa renewal, the price can increase to Dh3,000,” said Varghese.

The packages aren’t offered to every nationality, he said, interested people must check with with the travel agent.

The package includes air tickets, accommodation, tours and sightseeing, activities, an inbound country visa, and more, with the departures scheduled on December 30.

Experts say that island nations like Seychelles, Maldives, and Mauritius are in great demand for New Year, but the renewal of visas may cost extra. “The airfare is quite high to Seychelles and other island nations. Also, the accommodation price range is on the higher side,” said Varghese.

Shubeesh U, sales manager, Tours on Board Pvt Ltd said: "Many residents have brought parents, siblings, and other family members on two-month visit visas in order to experience and enjoy the winter in Dubai. For those wishing to extend their stay, we have introduced packages starting from Dh3,000 that allow them to travel as well as extend their visas.

"We are also seeing a trend of people travelling to Dubai from UK and Canada to avoid the harsh winters in their countries. Since the option for extending visas within the country has been withdrawn, these tourists prefer flying to destinations like Maldives and Seychelles, which allow them to extend their visas before taking return flights to the UAE," added Shubeesh.

The new rules came into effect on Tuesday, December 13, when the option for visit visa holders in the UAE to extend their visas from within the country was discontinued. As of now, visitors must exit the country once their visa validity expires.

Mir Wasim Raja, manager of MICE & Holidays at Galadari International Travel Services, said bookings for New Year holidays are full, and people looking for travel and visa changes can be attended to by them.

"We can make a customised package if people would like to travel during the upcoming holidays, starting at Dh2,899," said Raja.

"For visa renewal, there are many destination options. However, it will cost an extra Dh600 for the package," he added.
