I had an absolutely amazing tour with Helena. I booked the night before on a whim and was a little apprehensive about going alone, but I'm so glad I did. It was the highlight of my trip. The other people on the tour never showed so I ended up with a private tour and it was just perfection. Helena was absolutely wonderful, she went above and beyond. She was a walking encyclopedia on the city and gave me a tour that extended well beyond food. The next day I was able to retrace our steps and show some of the city to my husband and son. She had loads of suggestions and tips outside of the food scene and every one of them paid off. We had such a good day today because I took the tour with her yesterday. I saw parts of Prague I never would have otherwise. I got away from the tourist traps and saw real Czech life. I cannot recommend this enough. All the food was delicious, but the brewery boat marinated cheese and open faced sandwiches were my personal favourites, with the beef broth coming in a very close second. It was just the best day despite the miserable weather. If you have any doubts, dispel them and go for it, I'm so glad I did! 😍

Lukas was a fantastic guide through unique and delicious Czech food and dishes! Some favorites and some things I never would’ve tried without some help and explanation.

He was knowledgeable, personable, and funny. A great time and a great introduction to Prague and its food & culture!

Tahlee Chant

Robert was an amazing tour guide! Had such a bubbly personality and was so knowledgeable! He made the tour so much more enjoyable! I had accidentally burnt my had (being a klutz) and he was very helpful and made sure I was okay the whole time. Highly recommend him!!!

Shelby Bussey

Eva was an absolutely wonderful guide!! She made it so much more than just a food tour by sharing history about important events and buildings and even her own childhood stories about growing up in Prague. The food was amazing and you got a lot for the price. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this tour to anybody!

Andrew Chalk

Took tour on 2023-05-08. Just us and one other couple . Thoroughly enjoyed the choices and breadth of the tour. Should have taken it at the beginning of our vacation. Host very knowlegible.

Audra McMullen

Zach was great! I love a good food tour with history along the way! He says he never wanted to be a teacher, but I learned more in 4 hours than I can imagine learning in a semester at school! Non beer options were readily available. I left so full I needed a nap.

Boba Fatt

Brilliant introduction to the food and history of Prague. Robert was an excellent, entertaining and knowledgeable host. Highly recommended, especially as something to do on your first day to explore the city.

Haley DiPietrantonio

Rob and Zach were absolutely amazing! Got to see some amazing local places with amazing local food that we got to try. We also were able to learn how to pour a Czech beer and learn to make a cocktail. Definitely worth the money and would recommend to anyone wanting to step outside the crowded touristy areas!

Joe DiPetto

Rob was knowledgeable, engaging, and enchanting. He did Prague justice. I would recommend this tour to anyone with a brain. Well done!

Marianne Heck

We enjoyed every bit of this tour. Helena was a great guide who knows a lot and tells with passion. She not only told us about the local food and habbits but also about architecture, the story of the shoe brand Bata and car brand Skoda, upon all of this we have seen some great churches. Keep up the good work!

Veronika Pirozek

Amazing tour with David! Food and vibes were great ❤️

Liz Edwards

We went on the food tour today with Petra, it was great to learn so much about the food and history of Prague. Petra is very easy going and it was like having a tour with a good friend, we laughed and ate amazing food. The best egg butty I've ever had in Sisters! Thank you so much. 😊

Greta Handing

This tour was great! Portions and pacing were perfect. I didn’t leave hungry or stuffed. Food substitutions were very well accommodated. We had group members who were gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and with a nut allergy and everyone received food they could eat and enjoy. Our tour guide, Eva, was amazing. Also the restaurants on the tour were wonderful and not too crowded. We always had somewhere to sit. Plus, we got some unexpected bits of Prague history mixed in with the walks. Would highly recommend!

Cynthia Brackin

Our experience went beyond our expectations. Our guide was great - sharing history as well as introducing us to some of the most delicious food Prague has to offer. Our kids (ages 5 and 8) enjoyed themselves as well, and our guide was great with them. Overall a wonderful experience!

Tara Van Dyke

The 5 Best Prague Food Tours [2024 Reviews]

I first visited Prague around 5 years ago, and to be honest, I had absolutely no expectations at all. However, what I found was a city rich with timeless pubs, sleek bistros, traditional dishes, modern masterpieces, and everything in between.

If you really want to get to know Prague like a local and understand the culture in a deeper way, you have to try the cuisine. If there’s one activity you should participate in this impressive city, it’s a food tour.

Based on my own experience, I’ve crafted a guide featuring carefully selected, best Prague food tours currently out there. Let’s get started!

Best Food Tours in Prague

Quick answer: the 5 best rated prague food tours for 2024.

  • Prague Foodie Tour
  • Prague Food Tour With Eating Europe
  • SMALL GROUP / PRIVATE Prague Old Town Traditional Czech Food Tour
  • Secret Food Tours Prague Mala Strana w/ Private Tour Option
  • Delicious Food Tour by Prague Food Tour

Best Prague Food Tour Reviews

1. prague foodie tour.

  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Departure:  Haštalská 1077/16, Staré Město, 110 00 Praha-Praha
  • Departure Time: 12:00 and 4:00 PM
  • Includes: Alcoholic beverages, lunch, dinner, all fees and taxes, coffee and/or tea, soda, bottled water

I don’t know if I’ve ever had as much fun on a food tour as I did on this first one. The Prague Foodie Tour  is a no-frills, educational experience where you’ll follow your expert guide’s knowledge to see some of the city’s most valuable hidden gems.

Skip the tourist traps and traverse cobblestone streets and subway depths to try some of Prague’s most authentic dishes!

I’ll admit, that before this tour, I had no idea that Prague has such an amazing culinary scene filled with dishes I’d never even heard of before. This one was a treasure trove of insider knowledge about the city’s history as well as the food and drinks that make up a huge part of its culture.

Start out by meeting up with your guide and the rest of your small group, where you’ll head straight to the Karlin district (reminiscent of hipster Bushwick, Brooklyn).

In total, you’ll visit 5 different locations to learn about and try traditional Czech dishes, beer, cocktails, and plenty of wine! I loved the way our guide wove the history of the city into our food experiences, – many of the dishes date back to the time of Napoleonic wars or earlier!

Expand To See More See Less

Of course, many of the dishes’ interpretations have changed with the times, but many of them were very authentic. I really loved how between the food stops, we got to make various stops at important landmarks, complete with an educational narration by our guide.

We went by foot, tram, and Metro to the different places, which also made me feel more confident using these modes of transportation for the rest of our stay.

The stop at a lovely wine bar was a great way to chat with the guide and other participants, and I can’t wait to do this tour again.

Tour Information & Booking

100% refund for cancellations within 24 hours of tour experience, 2. prague food tour with eating europe.

  • Departure: Dvořákovo nábřeží Kotviště číslo 19, 110 00 Praha 1
  • Departure Time: 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM
  • Includes:  9 delicious tastings at 5 different locations, Svíčková (Czech National Dish), Wine and beer and much more!, The best food tour in Prague, Prague – A food lover’s guide, Local English speaking guide

Whether you’re a foodie, an art aficionado, history buff, or simply curious about Prague, check this next tour out. It covers the arts, architecture, science, history, and of course, the amazing local cuisine!

The Prague Food Tour with Eating Europe is one of the most supremely organized tours I’ve had the pleasure of participating in, and will surely change your perspective on this beautiful city!

This 4-hour tour will start out on a floating brewery right on the gorgeous river where you’ll get to sip on some Pilsners and enjoy the breathtaking views of the natural landscape and impressive architecture.

I found this to be a great way to get to get to know our guide while also learning about some of Prague’s history (and more specifically, beer history!). After, head through the old backstreets to the Gourmet Passage, where you’ll find one of the tastiest delis around.

The Czech dumplings and braised beef are something I crave all the time, and I’d likely go back to Prague just for that.

While strolling between the different stops, we also got to see famous landmarks like the Printing House and even enjoy meals in the same place as Franz Kafka and Albert Einstein once did!

Pass the main city square, where the guide regales you with a comprehensive yet fascinating history lesson on some of the major events that have happened here.

I know I have a sweet tooth so I may be biased, but the stop at the Cafe Platyz was my favorite! We got to try Custard and Apple Strudel, which was seriously one of the tastiest desserts I’ve ever had.

The typical pastry in Prague is the chimney cake, so if you haven’t given that a go, make sure to try it as well.

3. SMALL GROUP / PRIVATE Prague Old Town Traditional Czech Food Tour

  • Departure:  Náměstí Republiky 3/4, 110 00 Praha 1-Nové Město
  • Departure Time:  1:00, 4:00 and 5:00 PM
  • Includes:  8 food tastings of traditional Czech cuisine (all portions equal a full large meal), 4 beverage tastings (beer, soft drinks), Map with personalized food recommendations, Public transport tickets if needed, English-speaking local guide

While the other two tours we’ve covered so far are certainly a lot of fun, private food tours are also quite nice. The Small Group / Private Prague Old Town Traditional Czech Food Tour  is wonderful if you’d like it to just be you and your party participating in the experience.

I loved the fact that our guide asked us for our specific interests and preferences to design a foodie tour customized around them!

Traditional Czech cuisine isn’t known to be light and fresh, but rather cozy and hearty – and washed down with a delicious beer!

Upon meeting up with your guide, you and the other members of your party will be given maps filled with interesting landmarks to check out, as well as more food recommendations to explore after the tour!

Our guide was a local and knew probably every single eatery in town, so you can trust that these recommendations are grade-A.

Meet up with them at the Art Deco-style Municipal House, which holds the famous Smetana Concert Hall and plenty of delicious restaurants and wine bars inside (oh, and the country’s Declaration of Independence!).

After enjoying some traditional dishes and wine, you’ll take a walk on over to your next stop while seeing and learning about the stunning Prasna Brana Tower and Church of Our Lady Before Tyn.

Cross the Charles Bridge and enjoy the breathtaking views before arriving to eat at the oldest Prague neighborhood of Lesser Town.

What I loved about this tour, is that it felt like we had an old friend who was taking us around to the most noteworthy spots around Prague – not some tourist traps. Each location actually served us up the equivalent of a big meal, along with tastings of beer.

I couldn’t believe the value received, and if you’re looking for something fun to do, I just can’t recommend this tour enough.

4. Secret Food Tours Prague Mala Strana w/ Private Tour Option

  • Duration:  3.5 hours
  • Departure:  Malostranské nám., 118 00 Praha 1-Malá Strana
  • Departure Time: 11:00 AM
  • Includes:  Párek v rohlíku (Czech hot dog), traditional bohemian soup, special pancakes, homemade sauerkraut, Knedlo-vepro-zelo (dumplings-pork-cabbage), traditional cakes, Secret Dish

Next up is a slightly shorter tour, which takes you off the beaten path and into the heart of Prague’s dramatic culinary history. These hidden gems are where locals have indulged for years, with some of the eateries dating back hundreds of years!

If you’re looking to enjoy all kinds of traditional dishes from savory soups to fluffy pancakes and beer, the Secret Food Tours Prague Mala Strana w/ Private Tour Option is for you!

If you have specific dietary restrictions or needs, I understand that not every food tour out there can accommodate them. However, this tour does a great job of being aware of every participant’s needs while still giving you the opportunity to try delicious Czech culinary spots.

It perfectly melds history lessons, gorgeous architecture and landscapes, and applies them in a way that makes it relevant to the food and drinks you’re trying.

The Lesser Town or ‘Mala Strana’ sits right at the base of the majestic Prague Castle, overlooking the bridge and river down below. As you walk through the oldest district with your guide, you’ll get to learn about and see iconic sites like the impressive St. Nicholas Church.

Pass Kampa Park, which is one of the most well-respected dining establishments, and walk by the John Lennon Wall, which is filled with Beatles-related art.

This tour is a bit different from the others, as it starts out in the morning so instead of some of the more dinner-appropriate options, you’ll get to try breakfast  and  lunch!

I loved the opportunity to get to try both sweet and savory delights local to Prague, and follow it up with a trip to the local pub! The guide was friendly, knew just about everything related to Czech food, and gave us an experience we already want to repeat.

5. Delicious Food Tour by Prague Food Tour

  • Duration: 4.5 hours
  • Departure:  V Celnici 2079/7, 110 00 Praha 1-Nové Město
  • Departure Time: 3:00 PM
  • Includes:  Dinner, Coffee and/or Tea, Alcoholic Beverages, Soda/Pop, Bottled water, lunch, All Fees and Taxes

I can’t leave off the Delicious Food Tour by Prague Food Tour experience, which is an afternoon experience perfect if it’s your first time in the city. You’ll not only get a lay of the land, but get to sample authentic dishes and drinks that will surely enrich your time here.

With a maximum of just 9 participants, this small-group tour allows for you to ask your guide any questions you may have and have a more personalized experience.

Start off by meeting up with your guide and the rest of your group at 3:00 pm at the Hilton Old Town, where they’ll give a briefing of what you can expect throughout the tour.

This is yet another one that skips the tourist traps and leads you to some of the cool holes-in-the-wall and more “underground” spots alive with old Czech spirit and culture. This tour was one of the ones that solidified how much I love Prague.

As you could probably imagine, your tour starts off in Old Town, where you’ll learn about Czech history and how the traditional dishes came to be.

It’s a fabulous introduction to the Czech Republic in a non-intimidating, friendly setting that I’d recommend to anyone new here. In fact, I’d even say that it’s the best Prague food tour for entire families as it focuses more on the dishes rather than the pubs.

While it may vary, you can expect to try dishes like the Kulajda dill soup with poached egg, Prague Smoked Ham with whipped cream and horseradish, Marinated Cheese, Choux Custard pastries, coconut meringue with walnut cream, and much more.

Oh, and you’ll get to try (if you’re of legal age), 3 expertly-crafted cocktails based around traditional Czech ingredients and spirits.

Best Time of Year to Visit Prague

By far, the best time to visit Prague is either late spring or early fall. The city isn’t too hot nor too cold, and it still isn’t the peak season so you’ll avoid the vast majority of tourists.

The summertime is also very pleasant in terms of weather conditions, but there are a ton of crowds – for example, Charles Bridge will be packed full of people most days.

1. Tipping – You can tip anywhere between 5 to 15% percent of your bill if you’re in a restaurant or taxi. 20% and above is not expected.

2. Don’t expect people to smile at you – It’s not that locals aren’t friendly – they’re actually some of the kindest people out there. However, local culture isn’t too much on warm, affectionate behavior if they don’t know you.

3. They don’t use the Euro – Rather, you’ll need to get some Czech Crowns/Korunas which are about 22 to 1 USD. Make sure to always keep some cash on you as some places don’t accept cards.

4. Wear comfortable walking shoe s – While Prague has a solid public transportation system, it’s very walkable, and you’ll likely put in a lot of steps.
