What people love about Muscat Tours

Said was a wonderful guide! What a beautiful country to see.
Aziz, the guide from Gidoman, gave us an unforgettable Omani experience. We already heard many great things about the beauty and hospitality of Oman and its people, but we were still blown away. We choose a 4-day tour because we only had a few days and only got to see the highlights, but we're definitely coming back for a longer visit as this country has so much more to explore. Aziz was a perfect guide, making sure we were comfortable all the time, telling stories, answering all our questions, translating when needed, etc. He even bought a birthday cake for my dad, played a middle-eastern guitar and sang local songs. Plus a great car driver and DJ :) Florian, Valerie, Leo & Monique
Every thing went very well. But our guide Mahmoud was the best guide. Five stars. I will recommend tour radar to my friends.

Lining the coastal plains of Oman, the city of Muscat glows white under the camel tones of the basalt Al Hajar Mountains; a magnificent and eye-watering conglomeration of marble mosques and meticulously-crafted houses shining brilliantly in the Arabian sun. For centuries this city’s startling beauty has been the stuff of legend, filtering back to the ports of Europe and the west like whispers riding the trade winds. Anyone coming here will need to do their homework first, because this sprawling and ancient city has a seriously formidable array of ‘must sees’ up its sleeve. Plan your itinerary with your Muscat tourist guide such that it encompasses the Al Jalali Fort of the walled city, the heady strips of Muttrah and the magnificent Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace. But Muscat is no simple relic of its own past. Still a lively place that oozes energy from every pore, adventure travellers will be right at home, enjoying some offbeat scuba diving opportunities, a wealth of desert hiking operators, some of the best beaches on the Arabian Peninsula and camel trekking to boot.

  • Stay hydrated: Muscat’s climate can be hot and dry, especially during the summer months. Ensure you carry plenty of water with you during your city tour to stay hydrated throughout the day.
  • Respect cultural norms: Oman has a rich cultural heritage, and it’s crucial to respect local customs and traditions. Avoid public displays of affection, especially during Ramadan, and refrain from taking photographs of people without their permission.

Review about Hajer

"Hajer is a fantastic Guide. Great communication from the outset. We arranged a bespoke tour with 4 of us travelling together. She met us at our hotel in her blue Maserati and drove our huge 4x4 hire car with great Omani skill! Hajer is passionate about Oman and shared local foodie insights which we would never have experienced without her guidance...and we LOVE our food! Ice Cream in the sweltering heat! Mendazi and Oman chips - yum! Iced coffee and teas! Karak Chai! Mishkak on the beach ... skewers of delicious marinated meat (lamb and chicken and quid) fresh from the BBQ. The next day we enjoyed Haneeth in her favourite restaurant ...the main ingredients include basmati rice, lamb and chicken and a combination of spices. Followed by Qahwa coffe and deliciously sweet Halwa (our fav were the fig and honey varieties). Apart from the amazing food on the first afternoon we visited the Royal Palace, Al Mirani Fort, Muttrah Souk and enjoyed sunset on the beach before enjoying our beach BBQ. The next morning we visited the Grand Mosque - AWE INSPIRING! - and the Royal Opera House before we had lunch followed by the traditional sweets. You can't go wrong with Hajer - highly recommended! Thank you for showing us the Muscat highlights!"

Most fascinating woman you will meet!

"My trip to Oman was amazing to begin with, hands down, would relocate to tomorrow as an expat if there was a physician job available. And furthermore, the Omani people are the most hospitable, genuine and gracious people I have met in all my travels. However, to top it off, Hajer, I promise you, will be one of the fascinating, accomplished and just WONDERFUL people you will ever meet. I had the most memorable and wonderful time with her over the course of two days. Highly recommend the city tour with her as well as Nizwa. It truly is like spending two days in a magic place with a friend you have known forever. I HIGHLY HIGHLY endorse, Hajer. I miss her already and certainly will be back to see her wonderful country in the future. "

guest Richie

"Hajer is a lovely knowledgeable lady who showed us around Muscat in the evening. A beautiful sunset and good local tasting. My husband loved the car ofcourse 😄 We strongly recommend Hajer for exploring Muscat. Thank you for a great evening!"

guest Stefanie

Incredible Experience

"Hajer made a very short layover a magical experience. Early in the morning she took us literally everywhere, we’ve seen all the “to do” sights while hearing a lot of interesting information about the place she clearly knows and loves. It seemed that she’s known to the locals and she manoeuvred us around the bazar with confidence and grace. And she spoiled us with delicious treats. Looking at all of the photos I can’t believe we only spent 4 hours. On the way to airport I left my wallet in her car. I had no idea if she wouldn’t have tracked us down and made sure it was returned even if we couldn’t get out as already through security. She’s a true queen and beautiful, kind human. We can’t wait to be back soon "

guest Mandy

Great experience!

"We had a great day in the mountains with Yousuf - beautiful landscape and scenery. Yousuf shared a lot of information about local life and showed us hidden places. We can highly recommend a tour with him - thanks Yousuf 🙏 Regards, Paul and Inga "

Muscat City tour with Hajer

"Thank you very much Hajer, we had a wonderful time with you and truly enjoyed your company! We were two adults with two children 7 and 9 and Hajer made it fun and vey interesting for the whole family. She showed us beautiful spots and introduced us to delicious local dishes. We felt very safe with her as a driver and guide and can highly recommend her tour for families with kids of any age. Of course our two boys loved being driven around in a Maserati, listening to some trendy music as well. An overall amazing experience wich we can highly recommend to anyone. Thanks 🙏🏼 "

Excellent private Muscat Tour!

"We booked a private half day tour in muscat. She picked us up in our hotel and we loved the big, clean and beautiful car! Hajer is extremely friendly, she knows the city very well, her english is brilliant, she's a very safe driver and a great photographer too ;) We felt very comfortable and she even bought a delicious coffee and typical local snacks for us and this during Ramadan! We really appreciated this generous gift to us and we would always book her again. We had a great tour and we can highly recommend her!"

guest Nina

A must-book Muscat tour guide!

"I booked the Full coverage Muscat city tour with Hajer as my guide. I felt like I was chatting to a new friend showing me her home city while telling me the cultural history of Muscat's buildings, structures and landscapes. Among the must see sights Hajer took me to, I got to see things that aren't featured in travel guides or YouTube videos. Hajer was also able to tailor the experience to my personal preferences which was fantastic. This tour was the perfect way to orientate myself to this wonderful city and I was able to make the most out of my remaining time here. I highly recommend engaging Hajer for your Muscat experience - you won't be disappointed. "

A perfect start to our Omani Holidays :-)

"The perfect start with our personal guide Hajer already began before our departure to Oman: We (a couple from Switzerland, age around 35 years) spontaneously (approx. 10 days before) decided to go on a tour of Oman (8 days, only northern part). A lot of the tour was already planned but according to the short preparation time, we still had many unanswered questions and unplanned details in our tour. This was so much welcome and appreciated 😊 Hajer not only answered all of our questions patiently via “With Locals Chat” and gave us tips, but also spoke to me on the phone. This previous experience already felt like visiting a friend when we arrived. She also gave us the crucial tip to decide our hotel in Muscat, which we didn't regret 😀 Since we had a long overnight flight with a stop in Istanbul and only arrived in Muscat at 3am, we wanted to get some sleep before going on the city tour with Hajer on the first day. This was absolutely no problem for Hajer. She was completely flexible right up to the last minute, so that we were able to get some sleep and have breakfast at the hotel before she picked us up. Another pleasant surprise was the car she picked us up and drove us around. I don't want to say any more about the car, you'll see for yourself. At least for my husband this was also part of the experience😉 The tour itself was very exciting and varied: Over all, there was a lot of driving through the city. But this is due to the city itself, because it is huge and the relatively few sights are scattered far and wide. As Hajer is a very experienced driver we felt always secure in the city traffic and it gave us a good foresight to our own driving experience with the rental car. With Hajer we could see the most important sights of the City within really less of time (5h), as she knows the routes and places. We would have been lost, if we needed to do it on ourselves by car, by foot it is nearly impossible. Beside the main sights like Sultans Palace, Mosque (depends on time/only morning), Opera House, Matrah and Matrah Souk, Hajer showed us some local places and didn’t forget our bellies. So we made some stops in between at a Halwa Sweets store (kind of preferred Omani sweets), where you could try a spoon of every pastry for free and also have some Omani coffee. We also stopped at a typical «Omani drive in» to have some Karak (black tea, milk and saffron – absolutely delicious) and some kind of Samosa and some typical bread with cream cheese and honey. What Hajer introduced us as well, is the Omani culture, of driving by, stay in the car and let you deliver all the things to your car window, even if its not looking like a drive-in 😊 That knowledge saved us a lot of embarrassing moments on the route and also so time. After all these things, Hajer brought us up to the Mutrah Fort, where we could perfectly see the sun going down over the city and the Marina. Just magic 😊 Last but not least we went to the Souk. From my before «Souk-Experiences» the walk through was a little bit too fast, but for my husband it was perfect, as he does not really like shopping. So, if you like Souks and all the Shopping and bargaining the tour is a first and good overview, but you need to come again by your own or need to advise Hajer, that you need more time. Then, she will be a perfect shopping-advisor, as he knows the prices and is not afraid to argue with the vendors. After a very impressive tour of Muscat, I asked Hajer about our plan to make a Ad-Dimaniyat-Island tour the next day - we didn’t book it in advance, as we wanted her recommendations. Right away she called a friend, which told us that no tours will be happen the next three days according to the wind. So we needed to skip our plan and change the route. Together with Hajer we decided to go to Wadi Shab the next day what was planned for our return day to Muscat on the last day of the tour. But our renting car wasn’t ready, because we booked it just for tomorrow. Hajer managed to get us the same renting car from the same firm we prebooked for one day earlier for the same daily-prices. Then there was the next problem: I had some trekking shoes for the Wadis but no water shoes. I wanted to buy them in Switzerland in advance, but as there was no Season, I couldn’t do it at the store in this short pre-booking time. And we also didn’t have the time to go shopping for these on the first day in Muscat. So well, Hajer showed once again her heart and the truly amazing kind of Omani hospitality: She offered me her own water shoes, to take them with me to have the Wadi experiences, and to leave them back at the hotel reception, where she will get them back after. If this is isn’t true commitment to hospitality… I don’t know, what else could be…. 😍 Over all: You will see that Hajer is practiced to do this kind of tours and feels like a professional. But you can always customize your tour by telling your wishes to Hajer or ask some questions. You will never have the feeling (like in other countries) that it’s kind of a selling (instead it is the total difference, as Hajer pays what she offers). And, it is not her main job: She did a lot of previous works as a Consultant for Sports (FIFA, WM Bahrain, etc.) and she still has this main job. So you can really feel that she does this sightseeing tours by heart. So, long story short: We can only recommend Hajer for your City-Sightseeing in Muscat for the fullest. It will be perfect. 💕 Lots of Love. Larissa & Olav"

guest Larissa

Hajer is AMAZING

"We started out in the morning when Hajer picked us up from our hotel. From there we started hitting the sites one by one with Hajer providing local insights and stopping here and there for local treats (karak chai with saffron!). Her knowledge and company made the trip even more interesting than had we just gone on our own. This was a great way to see the city sites and to make a friend for life. Thank you Hajer!!!!"

The leadership of Oman Air and SalamAir met in Muscat to launch the codeshare which will expand the travel options throughout the Sultanate.

"We are thrilled to further strengthen our partnership with Oman Air," said Adrian Hamilton-Manns, SalamAir’s chief executive. "This extended codeshare agreement reflects our shared commitment to providing passengers with unparalleled travel options and superior service. Together, we eagerly anticipate aligning ourselves with the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technology's sentiments and the overarching vision of Oman 2040; thus, reinforcing our commitment to driving excellence in the aviation sector and promoting Oman as a premier travel destination."

Oman Air’s CEO Con Korfiatis, said the expanded codeshare partnership is a strengthening of the collaboration between the two airlines. “This latest development enables us to jointly offer even more choice and schedule options, which both benefit our customers and serve the broader tourism ambitions of the country,” he said..

During the first phase, effective from 4 July 2024, passengers can book their travel on a selection of SalamAir’s routes connecting to Oman Air’s network, with more destinations to be added post-successful implementation.

Ten pacts signed to boost tourism in governorates

Muscat – Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) signed ten usufruct contracts on Sunday for investments exceeding RO6mn to spearhead projects across several governorates.

H E Salim Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, signed the contracts with company representatives.

The projects include an array of developments – establishment of a 3-star hotel and a tourist rest house in Salalah, a tourist camp in the Al Khadf area of Thumrait, and a 3-star tourist resort in Shalim and Hallaniyat Islands – in Dhofar.

Projects in Dakhliyah include a 3-star hotel, an adventure centre and a luxury tourist camp in Barakat al Sharaf; and a 3-star resort in Misfat al Abriyeen in Al Hamra.

Projects in South Batinah include tourist camps in Wadi Mastal and the Al Abyad area of the wilayat of Nakhal.

South Sharqiyah’s development agenda includes a tourist camp in the wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali.

Amira bint Iqbal al Lawati, Director General of Tourism Development in MHT, emphasised the fact that these contracts are part of an ongoing investment programme aimed at bolstering the tourism sector across all governorates.

She added that the economic and social potential of these projects will generate job opportunities, enrich local communities, and  expand accommodation options and facilities to meet demand of the tourism sector in alignment with the comprehensive tourism development plan of the governorates.

Muslim bin Ahmed al Hadary, owner of a project in Salalah, informed that his resort features chalets designed to harmonise with the natural landscape of Dhofar. It aims to diversify tourism offerings and enhance the tourism landscape of the governorate.
