Even though their job titles sound similar, a travel consultant is different than a travel agent. A travel consultant usually specializes in solving complex travel issues. For example, they may specialize in helping adoptive parents travel abroad to make the task of adopting a child from a foreign country run smoothly. Or they might assist businesses with complex assignments like learning how to cater to new cultures during business deals. Travel consultants generally focus less on tourism and more on helping iron out logistical issues.

You’ve traveled the world and, boy, do you have some good stories to tell. So why don’t you then? By starting a travel blog, you can make money by sharing your experiences. You can offer up travel advice, share photos from your journey and review restaurants and hotels. Once your blog picks up some steam (aka gets a decent amount of pageviews and monthly visitors) you’ll be able to make money from ads hosted on your website, sign up for affiliate programs, or create sponsored content for brands. If you live in a popular area where hotels are particularly pricey, then you may be able to fetch a pretty penny by allowing customers to rent rooms in your home.

The best part is, you get to set your price. You only have to rent to people who can meet your price and who you think would be a good tenant (Hint: They need as many good reviews as you do). This can be an ideal business for bringing in extra money to help fund your next vacation. Just make sure that your town, apartment complex, or homeowners association allows you to rent out your property and that you’re following proper regulations.

Business travelers tend to be reimbursed by their employer or client and often prefer to book directly with a hotel to accumulate additional reward points and elite status . Ultimately, this can lead to free room stays, upgraded suites, waived resort fees and other added perks.

To help you save money and earn rewards, we analyzed the top four hotel loyalty programs for business travelers to identify the most beneficial ones. This guide will help business travelers navigate the process of selecting the most suitable hotel program.

Maximizing a hotel loyalty program and credit card

By considering elite status and credit card partnerships, you can see how many points per dollar you can earn from your stay. From there, it's simple to calculate your return in points using TPG's latest monthly valuations .

Hilton Honors

Hilton Honors rewards you with 10 base points for every dollar spent within the Hilton portfolio. However, stays at some brands like Home2 Suites by Hilton and Tru by Hilton hotels earn only 5 base points per dollar spent on the room rate and other eligible room charges (i.e., telephone calls and room service).

To maximize your earnings, you can use a Hilton cobranded credit card , which offers bonus points for these purchases and provides enhanced earning rates through automatic Hilton Honors elite status . Despite Hilton points being valued at 0.6 cents each by TPG, this can still offer you a valuable return.

At the lowest level, the Hilton Honors American Express Card has no annual fee (see rates and fees ) and offers 7 points per dollar at participating Hilton hotels and resorts (terms apply). The card also includes Silver elite status (with an upgrade to Gold status when you spend $20,000 on eligible purchases in a calendar year). Here's how your hotel stay translates to earnings:

• Bonus points with Silver status: 2
• Bonus points from credit card: 7
• Total points per dollar spent: 19

The next card is the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card , which now has a $150 annual fee (see rates and fees ) after the card's recent overhaul . This card earns 12 points per dollar spent within the Hilton portfolio and comes with automatic Gold status (with an upgrade to Diamond by spending $40,000 on the card in a calendar year). Here's how that translates to earnings:

General members earn 5 base points for every eligible dollar spent for Hyatt stays and experiences, including restaurants and spas. By holding the World of Hyatt Credit Card , you earn 4 points per dollar you spend with your card at Hyatt properties, which means you can earn a total of 9 bonus points.

Plus, you'll get complimentary Hyatt Discoverist status which provides an additional 10% bonus on eligible purchases. This translates to the following earning opportunities:

IHG One Rewards , similar to Hilton Honors, provides elite members with a generous amount of points. However, these points have a value of only 0.5 cents, which is lower than other programs. For regular members, you'll earn 10 points per dollar spent at most IHG properties and 5 points per dollar at brands like Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites.

In the analysis below, we'll consider the earnings at a rate of 10 base points per dollar, but if you frequently stay at brands that earn just 5 base points per dollar, you'll want to adjust your calculations accordingly.

If you have the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card or the IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card , you'll earn an additional 10 points per dollar spent on qualifying stays and eligible charges at IHG properties when you use your card. Cardholders will also earn automatic Platinum Elite status , which earns another 60% bonus on top of the base points. Here's the resulting haul of points for your IHG stays:

• Bonus points with Platinum status: 6
• Bonus points from credit card: 10
• Total points per dollar spent: 26
• Return per dollar spent: 13%

Once you reach 70 qualified nights or 120,000 qualified points (or by spending $40,000) each year, you'll reach top-tier Diamond Elite status. This gives you a 100% bonus on base spending:

Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott Bonvoy rewards members with 10 points per dollar spent on all qualifying charges across their portfolio. Unfortunately, long-term stay hotels — including Element, TownePlace Suites, Residence Inn and Protea Hotels — only award 5 points per dollar. This rate also applies to vacation rentals booked with Homes and Villas by Marriott International.

Additionally, you can earn points when staying at Marriott Executive Apartments. However, you'll earn just 2.5 points per dollar spent and one elite night credit for every three nights you stay.

Marriott has several credit cards with elite status, including the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card . We value each Marriott point at 0.84 cents apiece.

The Boundless card comes with Silver Elite status (enrollment is required), and you earn 6 points per dollar with the card at Marriott properties:

If you spend $35,000 on purchases each calendar year with the Bonvoy Boundless card, you'll become a Gold Elite member. Maximum hotel earnings (without a credit card)

Not all business travelers can choose their credit card while traveling for work. Some companies mandate that all travel expenses must be charged to a corporate card, which means you won't earn bonus points using a cobranded card at your preferred hotel. If you find yourself in this situation, here is a table outlining the earning rates and overall benefits you can expect at each level of elite status for these four programs.

Among the four programs considered, Marriott Bonvoy is our top choice. With Titanium and Ambassador Elite, you can expect returns of 14.7% on your stays. Hilton Diamond and Hyatt Globalist follow closely with a 12% and 11.7% return, respectively.

Other hotel status considerations

Apart from the rewards structure, there are other important factors to consider as a business traveler when choosing a hotel loyalty program:

• Geographic coverage : While the World of Hyatt program may be valuable, it has fewer than 1,500 properties worldwide; Marriott has more than 8,000. If your business trips take you to various cities, finding a Hyatt property may not always be possible.
• Convenience : If you frequently visit a few specific cities or customer sites, consider the convenience of the hotels in those areas. Even if Marriott offers the most rewards at the top tier, it won't be beneficial if the nearest property is far from your company's corporate office.
• Additional perks : Remember that the calculations only consider the value of the reward points earned, not the benefits of the status itself. These perks can include free night stays, complimentary breakfast and upgrades to suites. Take these perks into account when making your decision.
• Promotions : Many hotel programs run frequent promotions , offering bonus points or extra incentives to book incremental stays in their respective portfolios. If one is particularly enticing, that could be enough to book a participating property in that program over another.

Of course, for those very frequent travelers, there's no reason not to join all of the above programs. You might attend a conference or a wedding in a hotel outside your preferred program, and you should at least earn points in that program. You could even consider a status match or challenge to test the waters with another program. After all, these major chains should be competing for your business — and you may find that the grass is greener with a different one.

Sometimes the hotel you want to stay at is over budget or sold out, other times it can be hard to tell if you the hotel you are reserving will provide you with an adequate’s night sleep. These hotel booking hacks will make it easier to get a room in the hotel you want, when you want it.

• Rewards Programs. The majority of hotel chains have reward programs you can sign up for free. That’s right. For free! Take full advantage of what they offer. When you book through the hotel and stay with the same hotel chain you can earn points to get discounts off of your room. Lou Haverty from Financial Analyst Insider recommends requesting a status match if you can’t make the same reward status two years in a row.
• Travel Credit Card . Another way to get hotel perks is with a travel credit card. Much like credit cards that you can use for flying you can use a traveling credit card to stock up on cashback and use points for traveling and hotels.
• Plan ahead for events. One key hotel booking hack to keep in mind is to plan ahead. Call the hotel you’re staying at and ask if there are any events happening the week you’re going to be there. Nothing’s worse than getting there and finding out you’re on the same floor as a wedding party.
• Check-In Early. One way to save time is to check-in early through the hotel’s app via your cell phone or tablet. Hotel chains like Marriot and Hilton let you check-in ahead of time and choose your room. There are also some hotels like YOTEL that replace the front desk with kiosks to make check-in faster.

Hotel Hacks to Make the Room Feel like Home

It’s tough being on the road all the time and missing your comfortable bed. After a long day of travel, the hotel needs to feel like home so you can relax. From morning to night, let’s try to make your hotel room feel a bit more like home with these helpful hotel hacks.

• Coffee. Nothing is better than a good cup of coffee to start the day. Hotel coffee can be a tad bland and not up to par with your usual morning joe. To help your mornings feel amazing instead of just “good”, try bringing your own single-serve packets to make your coffee feel a bit more like a good home-brewed cup. If tea is your preference, pack your own tea bags.
• Essential Oils. Melissa Picoli Philips, a frequent traveler for Skin and Sky Beauty recommends using Lavender oil. Philips says “Another easy trick to make the room smell lovely and neutralize airborne bacteria is to put a few drops of lavender essential oil on the room light-bulbs. Just a few will do the trick without causing damage.”
• Car Fresheners. Car fresheners are easy to pack and useful for more than freshening your rental car. Find a scent that you like and hang it in your hotel room. African Travel writer Alex McCormick says “While no good hotel room will smell particularly bad, they can quite often be a tad sterile, these little air fresheners can help to make the room feel that bit more welcoming and homelier, making your temporary living quarters more pleasant to reside in.”
• Dresser Drawers. All hotels have storage for your clothes. Utilize the space to make it feel more like home. Shane Allen, a frequent business traveler, told us he prefers to unpack his suitcase when he arrives. “If a hotel has a dresser or chest of drawers, I almost always unload my suitcase into it if I’m staying more than one night. I then hide my suitcase in the closet and use it as a place to put my dirty clothes.”
• Pack A Mini-Humidifier. If you have a hard time with dry air in the hotel room, consider packing a mini-humidifier. There are multiple options available on Amazon that will easily fit into your luggage.

Travel Technology Hacks

Nothing is worse than a dead cell phone or paying extra for Wi-Fi to connect all your devices to the Internet. Another major annoyance for business travelers is not enough plugs or plugs that are in inconvenient places. Try these travel technology hacks to stay connected in your room.

• Hotspots. Although devices like our cell phones and tablets have hotspots on them, you may not want to use your personal cell phone to power your work laptops internet connect. There are multiple options to work around this. Consider a network hotspot from your cell phone provider (or your employers). Alternatively, Founder of My UK Sim Card Nick Brennan uses “a single portable hotspot device which connects to the hotel wi-fi but then my portable hotspot device lets me share the wi-fi with all my other devices.”
• Fire Stick. LiveAndLetsFly travel writer Kyle Stewart says “I carry an Amazon Fire Stick that plugs into the HDMI port on almost every hotel TV. I connect it to the hotel Wi-Fi and then have most of my entertainment needs taken care of. Being able to pick up on the same Netflix, Hulu or HBO shows I watch at home makes life easier.”
• Power Strip. Even the simplest household item can be the most useful. Brian Stacey at Tauck , a high-end cruise and tour company says, “When you’re on the road and you have multiple devices that you need to charge, it’s much easier to plug them all into a power strip rather than having to search out multiple outlets in a hotel room. Also, when it’s time to pack up and leave, you’re far less likely to forget a device (or your charger) and leave it in your hotel room if everything is plugged into one centralized location.”
• Small Speaker. Although a small speaker isn’t much, it makes a world of difference than using a regular speaker on your device. Using a travel speaker will fill the room with the soft sounds of your music reducing frustration from your devices not being loud enough.
• Charger. Forgot your charger or wall plug-in?? Don’t worry most hotels have chargers and plug-ins for guests upon request. Another option shared by Andrew Helling from REthority , is to plug the USB charging cord into the back of the TV to charge your phone. For frequent travelers, it is also a wise idea to invest in a travel-only phone charger that lives in your travel bag.

Hotel Hacks to Stay Healthy

It’s tough to stay healthy during travel . Between business meals out and endless to-do lists, it can be a real challenge to stay healthy on the road.

• Bring own water bottle. Don’t forget to drink water when you are traveling. Frequent Traveler and co-owner of The Travel Sisters , Matilda Geroulis told us to “ Bring a reusable water bottle and fill it up with free water at the hotel gym”. Many hotels also offer infused water in the lobby.
• Order Healthy Food. One of the best parts about traveling is someone else is cooking your food and you can order exactly what you want. If your hotel is offering healthy room service options, by all means, treat yourself to a healthy in-room meal. It is okay to request to modify something off the menu. Remember to sstick with grilled instead of fried when it comes to chicken, fish, and vegetables. If room service is not an option, try using an app that will deliver food to your room.
• Coffee Pot. If you’re looking for something quick and easy, you can make instant noodles, oatmeal, or even eggs in your coffee pot. All you need is hot water for an instant meal. You can see a ton of hotel cooking hacks here.

• Use The Hotel Toiletries: Luxury Hotel Traveler Alan Hutto and co-founder of RitzRoseRepeat suggests “Luxury hotels usually feature high-end toiletries. Save space in your toiletry kit and use the hotel’s offerings.” You can usually see what brand of toiletries your hotel offers on their website.
• Shaving. If you need to shave and don’t want to pack shaving cream, use the conditioner in your hotel room. If you have sensitive skin and need real shaving cream, call the front desk and ask. Most hotels will bring it to your room for free or sell a travel size shaving kit.
• Use Hotel Amenities. Many hotels will bring just about anything to your room these days. Yoga Mat? Check. Clothing Steamer? Sure thing. Curling Iron? Maybe! Check the hotel website or give them a call before you leave to see what you can leave behind.

Hotel Sleeping Hacks

It is hard to get a good night’s rest when you’re not in your own bed. Feeling rested can make all the difference when going into a business meeting the next day. Getting enough sleep can definitely be a challenge, but we’ve created a list of hacks to help you get the full eight hours of sleep with little to no interruption. 

• Check Everything. When you get to your room check everything. There is nothing worse than realizing at 11 pm as you crawl into bed that the sheets are dirty or the A/C isn’t working. Before you unpack, take a few minutes to make sure the room was cleaned properly and everything is working.
• Take A Moment Of Silence. This may be the most important thing you do to ensure a good night of sleep. Once you’re in the room take a moment to just sit in silence. If you can hear the ice machine, elevator, noisy neighbors, traffic, etc. ask for a different room. At the most basic level, when you get a hotel, you are paying for a place to sleep- do not hesitate to request a room that may be away from loud noises.
• Travel Candle. There’s something about a certain scent that makes everything feel like home. Patricia Pinto a Yoga traveling teacher from Love Surf Yoga loves to bring a little piece of home with her traveling candle.
• Pillows. If you are traveling by car, consider bringing your own pillow. If not, consider packing your own pillowcase. It will have the scent of home and if you’re really looking for a piece of home while you sleep a worn t-shirt will do the trick. Many higher-end hotels also offer pillow menus, be sure to keep an eye out for that.
• Ear Plugs. Many travelers use earplugs to block out hotel noise. This does not come without the risk of sleeping through an alarm, so try it out at home first.
• Sleep mask. Travel blogger Charles McCool favors a sleep mask. Sleep masks will make it darker if the curtains are not blackout. Please try a sleep mask at home before hitting the road.
• White noise app. McCool also recommends using a white noise app on a smartphone. Nothing like the sounds of various relaxing noises to fall asleep to. This is another thing you want to try at home first. You don’t want to be at a hotel and not get enough sleep because you’ve never tried a white noise application before.
• Binder Clips. Binder clips are great if your curtains do not stay closed and you want to block out light. If you forget a binder clip, you can also use the clips that come on the clothes hangers.
• Towels. Travel blogger Patti Reddi likes to “use a towel to cover the opening between your door and the floor to block out noise from the hallway.”

• Keep Your Room Number Private. Typically when you check into a hotel, the front desk agent will write your hotel room number on your key card paper holder. • Do Not Disturb. The “Do Not Disturb” sign is a useful tool to use. Most hotels give two days before they check the room if the sign is still on the door, so if you can skip having your room cleaned for a day or two, leave the TV on and put out the sign when you leave. This will appear as if someone is in your room, which will hopefully deter anyone who was thinking of breaking in.
• Map Your Route. If you’re wanting to get out of the hotel for a bit for a walk or run, ask your hotel for a map and a recommendation for a safe route. Always take your phone with you on the run in case you encounter any issues.

• Hotel giants Hilton and Hyatt are growing their luxury camping portfolios.
• Both are adding glamping resorts to their booking channels, where their members can earn and redeem points.
• Interest in high-end camping has remained strong since its boom during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Forget high-rise hotels and all-inclusive beachfront resorts — the world's most popular hotel companies see a future in luxury tents.

If it seems like a third of your friends are going "glamping" these days — a portmanteau of glamorous and camping — you'd be correct. Luxury and traditional camping comprised 32% of all vacations in 2022, with more than 10 million households going on a glamping trip that year, according to campground giant Kampgrounds of America, or KOA.

Over the last few years, scores of boutique luxury camping properties have popped up around the US to meet growing demand, from Getaway's Instagram-famous matte black tiny cabins to RV-rental platform Outdoorsy's growing portfolio of luxury canvas tent resorts.

Now, hotel giants want a slice of the high-end camping pie.

Hilton and Hyatt are getting into glamping

Hilton and Hyatt have both recently announced partnerships and properties to expand their glamping portfolios.

Earlier this year, the former said its members could soon earn and use Hilton Honors points to book AutoCamp's chain of luxury campgrounds.

The brand's resorts are best known for their stationary Airstream trailers turned hotel rooms , although they also offer "traditional" glamping accommodations like tiny homes and high-end canvas tents with beds.

It's Hilton's first move into the glamping industry. And it's starting with a pretty successful partner.

Like other glamping and camping properties, AutoCamp saw a boom in bookings during the COVID-19 pandemic as travelers shunned cruises, planes, and traditional hotels for road trips and the great outdoors (remember that?).

The glamping company has grown quickly: Four of its seven resorts launched after 2021, and two more locations are now underway.

Hilton hasn't disclosed how many points travelers need for an AutoCamp reservation or when they'll become available. Still, the glamping company isn't known to be as affordable as camping. In the summer, a weekend stay can range from about $300 to $670 a night.

For its part, Hyatt has taken the same approach as its opponent.

On Wednesday, the competing hotel giant announced World of Hyatt members can now earn and spend points at more than 700 of high-end hotel brand Mr and Mrs Smith's properties. This includes five of its 17 glamping resorts, like a bed under the stars in India's Pench National Park, and a thatched-roofed hut in Sri Lanka's Yala National Park.

Hyatt plans to add more Mr and Mrs Smith properties to its World of Hyatt collection every quarter. No word yet on whether it will include the high-end hotel brand's 12 other luxury camping resorts.

But if you think AutoCamp's Airstreams can get expensive, wait until you see Mr and Mrs Smith's glamping accommodations. The most expensive of the five — all-inclusive cabins in Dunton, Colorado — starts at $2,855 per night. The huts in Sri Lanka are, at their cheapest , $724 a night.

But the addition of these glamping resorts to its booking channels isn't Hyatt's first venture into glamping. The company's Alila Ventana Big Sur hotel in California also offers high-end canvas tents alongside conventional hotel rooms.

Hyatt is now using the same model to launch an adult-only expansion of its all-inclusive Dreams Curaçao resort, set to open in June. Alongside the Caribbean property's existing traditional hotel, Hyatt plans to deploy modular tiny-home-sized hotel room units directly on the beach.

Glamping could be a great investment for these hospitality giants.

Glamping was one of the biggest travel trends from the COVID-19 pandemic, and interest has yet to fade. In 2023, KOA called the industry an "aggressive growth segment," with four in 10 campers expressing interest in glamping that year.

According to the campground giant, compared to traditional campers and hotel guests, "glampers" spend more money daily at glamping properties and their surrounding areas — music to Hilton and Hyatt's ears.

I stayed in 2 of Arizona's top hotels, and they couldn't have been more different. Take a look.

• Scottsdale, Arizona, has become a popular destination for luxury travelers.
• The Phoenician and Hermosa Inn are among Arizona's top luxury hotel offerings.
• I stayed in both and had two completely different experiences.

Arizona is a hot spot for luxury travelers .

The state is known for its award-winning travel offerings, from high-end resorts and spas to pristine golf courses and awe-inspiring desert landscapes, Condé Nast Traveler reported in 2023 .

This is especially true in Scottsdale.

In 2022, the city outside Phoenix hosted roughly 11 million tourists, from day trippers to overnight visitors, who spent a total of $3.2 billion, according to the city's Tourism and Events department .

I recently visited the Southwest desert town and stayed at two of Arizona's four-star top hotels — The Phoenician in Scottsdale and the Hermosa Inn in Paradise Valley, a nearby town known as " the Beverly Hills of Arizona ."

The Phoenician was named "Arizona's Leading Resort" in the 2023 World Travel Awards . It also received the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Award in 2024 for the 22nd time in a row, according to the hotel's website .

Meanwhile, the Hermosa Inn is a boutique establishment that Travel + Leisure named the best hotel in Arizona in 2023.

I had top-tier VIP experiences at both establishments, but the vibes at each couldn't have been more different. Ultimately, I think they were made for two different vacations.

I spent my first night at the Phoenician, a gigantic resort with 645 rooms.

From the moment my cab turned into its entrance, the Phoenician felt like a mega-resort . The 600-acre property was dotted with fountains, golfing greens, and several large buildings.

A winding road led to the main building, where the lobby and several accommodations, restaurants, shops, and event spaces were located.

After exploring the entire resort on foot the next day, I got lost on the way back. It took me about 30 minutes to find my room from the far end of the site.

Inside, the lobby had a warm color palette and modern decor.

Open since 1998, the luxury Marriott Hotel has gone through several interior renovations. Most recently, the accommodations were redesigned in 2016, and public spaces were revamped in 2018.

The lobby was huge. The warm hues of beige and red paired with geometric patterned fabrics reminded me of the desert landscape and Southwestern style.

My room was 600 square feet, with a bed, a sectional couch, and a balcony.

The deluxe room I booked typically costs about $800 a night when booked a month in advance, according to a search on the company's website. Business Insider received a media rate for the one-night stay.

I thought the furniture and decor were modern, like in the lobby, but there were more grays, making the beige elements feel like accents.

I had a comfy, king-sized bed across from a TV and storage cabinets holding a safe, a mini-fridge, and a Keurig coffee maker.

The bathroom was spacious, with a shower and a large tub.

The bathroom felt luxurious, with marble flooring and counters. There were two robes hanging inside, too.

From the balcony, I could see the building's unique architecture.

The geometric building paired boxy edges with a curvature. I thought it was a neat shape for a hotel.

But most of the fun took place in the communal resort areas such as the pool complex.

The complex has five pools, including one water playground and one adult-only pool. The pools are surrounded by lounge chairs, cabanas, and palm trees for shade.

During my stay, there seemed to be enough space for each guest to have a secluded experience. I didn't see crowds in the afternoon.

The Phoenician has eight restaurants and bars on-site.

The resort houses the award-winning restaurants J&G Steakhouse and Mowry & Cotton, and the award-winning lobby bar, Thirsty Camel.

The resort is home to an award-winning five-star spa.

The Phoenician Spa, which won the Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Award in 2024 for the fifth consecutive year, has 24 treatment rooms, a rooftop pool, a fitness center, a sauna, and a room dedicated to peace and quiet. There's also a boutique, a dry bar, and a nail salon.

Near the spa, there's an athletic club.

The athletic club has several tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts.

There's also an 18-hole golf course on-site with a driving range.

The course is surrounded by views of the Sonoran Desert.

The resort has a cactus garden, too.

The garden is behind the main building on a secluded, shaded trail. The short walk is dotted with 250 different kinds of plants.

After my night at the massive Phoenician resort, I checked in at the Hermosa Inn for a different experience.

A road in Paradise Valley lined with hilly fields and grand estates led to the Hermosa Inn. The hotel's entrance was a small, traditional adobe structure just a few yards from the main road.

The six-acre property has 43 casita accommodations in individual buildings of the same design style rooted in history, according to the company's website .

In 1936, cowboy and artist Alonzo "Lon" Megargee built the now-hotel to serve as his home and studio until 1941, when it opened as the Hermosa Inn.

Inside and out, the decor maintains a traditional Southwestern style.

Unlike the Phoenician, there's nothing modern about the Hermosa Inn's interior design.

Instead, it transports visitors to the early 20th-century West from the moment they check-in, with adobe bricks, wooden beams, and high-quality rustic furniture. The lobby and rooms showcase some of Megargee's artwork, too.

Winding garden paths lead to the casitas.

Instead of being in a secluded space like at the Phoenician, the gardens lined the pathways around the resort.

Guests can access bikes on the property, but I explored on foot.

It was a peaceful and quiet walk to my room. I passed through archways and spotted fountains and vibrant flower beds.

My room was a deluxe casita at the back of the property.

At the end of the garden path, I had a secluded deluxe casita with a patio.

The interior design was as Southwestern as the lobby, with wooden window shutters and a bed with wooden posts that made me feel like royalty.

Apart from the style, the bathroom at the Hermosa Inn was much like the Phoenician's. It was spacious, with a roomy shower and a soaking tub.

The pool area was much smaller at the Hermosa Inn.

At the Hermosa Inn, there is one pool and one whirlpool. I only saw a couple of guests using it at a time during my stay. Like the Phoenician, the Hermosa Inn also has a spa.

There's one restaurant and bar at the Hermosa Inn.

LON's was named the most romantic restaurant in Arizona by Food & Wine Magazine in 2022. It serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner and has a massive, garden-side outdoor patio as well as indoor seating. LON's Last Drop is the bar next to it, which has an outdoor adobe fireplace.

A wine cellar beneath the restaurant hosts guests with an exclusive tasting menu.

The underground room is always kept at 57 degrees.

There's also a library on-site with limited-edition art books and a fireplace.

The library is often used for wedding receptions and hosts up to 32 guests.

The hotel has a small fitness center.

The fitness center at the Hermosa Inn is small, but this makes sense, considering there are so few guests at a time compared to the Phoenician.

The Phoenician seemed great for families, while the Hermosa Inn provided a more unique, secluded, and cultural experience.

The Phoenician provided so many amenities, restaurants, and activities that guests could spend their entire vacation on the property. The resort is ideal for families and those looking to spend their days playing sports and chilling by the pool.

While much less extensive, the Hermosa Inn provides a unique experience for those looking to appreciate culture, peace, and quiet.
