Department of Population Health Sciences

The Department of Population Health Sciences brings together full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty, as well as additional faculty with secondary appointments. Faculty research interests include all aspects of population health such as adolescent risk behaviors, cancer detection and outcomes, cardiovascular health, health disparities, the health of LGBTQ+ populations, HIV care and prevention, men’s health, mental health, obesity, sexual health, substance use and cessation, including alcohol and tobacco use, suicidality, and violence against women among many others. Faculty expertise areas include behavioral science and health behavior, biostatistics, epidemiology, and survey methodology.

The Opportunity :

The Research Program Coordinator will direct the day-to-day operations of research studies, supervise research staff, assist the principal investigator in monitoring protocol adherence and participant accrual and retention, and perform other duties directly related to study implementation. The Research Program Coordinator will be involved in several studies aimed at addressing disparities in HIV, mental health, substance use, and other health conditions. These studies utilize innovative interventions and programs, including medical-legal partnerships, new technologies, and behavioral approaches such as couples-based interventions.

This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:

Manages the day-to-day operations of research studies, including recruitment, retention, and engagement of study participants. Conduct informed consent procedures; Collect data in person [clinic-based setting] and online; Send survey completion reminders; Schedule interviews; Complete interviews; Ship self-collection kits to participants; Manage participant incentives (cash payments and gift cards as applicable)

Provide day to day supervision of study staff and performs technical, operational, and administrative tasks in support of the PI's research.

Maintain excellent working relationships with community partners, health department staff, and other interested parties.

Participate in the dissemination process including making presentations at professional meetings, co-authoring manuscripts, etc.

Supervise and participate in intervention-related activities.

Prepare initial and ongoing Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, study protocols, documentation, and progress reports for research projects led by the Primary Investigator (PI).

Other duties as assigned to include, but not limited to, timely completion of required university and College of Medicine training and updates.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Basic computer literacy skills, data management, and office software skills.
