What’s Going On With ‘Help! I Wrecked My House’?

Home renovation expert Jasmine Roth has been all over HGTV since Season 4 wrapped, so what does that mean for her own series?

The Big Picture

  • Jasmine Roth's design skills shine on Help! I Wrecked My House , transforming wrecked spaces into beautiful, functional homes with care.
  • Unlike other DIY renovation shows, Jasmine involves homeowners in the process, giving them a sense of inclusion and ownership in the project.
  • Season 5 of the show's future remains uncertain, and Jasmine's expanding family and busy schedule may cause a delay in production.

The first four seasons of Help! I Wrecked My House established the series as one of the most charming among the many home renovation shows available. But what is the special quality that sets the series apart from others? Rather than entering a space where the homeowners plan to have an expert take care of everything from the start, or buying homes to renovate and flip herself like those featured on The Flipping El Moussas and other HGTV series, on Help! I Wrecked My House, builder and designer Jasmine Roth and her team of experts take control after DIY hopefuls become overwhelmed by a renovation that they thought they could handle themselves.

Jasmine's strength as a renovation expert is undeniable. Her ability to enter a space that has been "wrecked" by well-meaning but unknowledgeable homeowners and come up with a functional design that is also beautiful to the eye is unparalleled. But the patience and generosity that she shows to the homeowners is where the series really sets itself apart. Not every renovation expert has the confidence to allow the homeowners into the space that is being worked on, let alone involve them in choices that may affect the budget, timeline, and the overall design. But by demonstrating this willingness to keep the homeowners involved, Jasmine gifts them a sense of inclusion in the process that can allow them to move past the negative feelings that came up from their failed attempts at fixing the home on their own.

Season 4 went from strength to strength, showing off Jasmine's ability to guide homeowners through the design process so that they truly fall back in love with homes that once tortured them. With such a strong showing, it is somewhat surprising that there has not been an announcement regarding where the series stands. Jasmine has always kept busy on HGTV , and her full schedule may have caused a delay for Season 5. The production timeline may also have been affected by some recent personal news from Jasmine as well.

Help! I Wrecked My House

Jasmine Roth rescues homeowners who took on major DIYs and are living without bathrooms, kitchens, or bedrooms because of issues they can't fix.

Jasmine Roth Is Heavily Involved With HGTV

Jasmine got her start on the network in 2017 with the series Hidden Potential . The network reached out to Jasmine, having seen her work on her own home renovation via her posts on Instagram, and recognizing her star potential. Rather than helping couples after their renovation mishaps have gone too far, Jasmine was more focused on the design side in her first series. In Hidden Potential , Jasmine helped homeowners to find a unique design aesthetic to transform their cookie-cutter suburban houses into custom homes with character. However, the series shares similarities with Help! I Wrecked My House, as Jasmine would stop at nothing to deliver a custom home that was designed with the homeowner's specific needs in mind. Whether it was knocking down walls, overhauling exteriors, or creating custom built-ins, the end result was always a beautiful design that put function first.

The first season of Help! I Wrecked My House aired on HGTV in September 2020, and has continued running each year since. Jasmine has also been no stranger in the other series featured on the network. Recently, Jasmine appeared as one of the competitors on HGTV's Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge, which aired in July 2023. Following that, Season 4 of Help! I Wrecked My House aired in November 2023. Jasmine also appeared as a guest judge on the flipper competition series Battle on the Mountain , which aired in January 2024. She also showed up as one of the HGTV stars guiding potential home buyers on House Hunters: All Stars , which began airing in March 2024.

In the past, Jasmine was also the first HGTV star to act as guest-editor for HGTV Magazine. When she heard that the magazine needed a home to feature, she purchased an A-frame cabin in the mountains of California that she had her eye on. She gave herself a 5-week deadline to complete a renovation to make it cover-worthy in time for the October 2022 edition. The project was also made into a special Help! I Wrecked My House "episode" online, so fans could see the renovation and the reveal to the HGTV editors. She has also recently been busy renovating her own home in Utah, dubbed "Camp Roth," which she recently put up for sale . With such a busy schedule, including projects for HGTV and her own personal renovations, the future of Help! I Wrecked My House Season 5 remains up in the air.

Jasmine's Family Is Expanding

Jasmine recently announced that her family of three is growing. The HGTV star told People Magazine that she and her husband have been trying for her second pregnancy for over a year, and that being pregnant at almost 40-years-old is "no joke." The couple is thrilled to be expanding their family , and their 4-year-old daughter Hazel "can't wait to be a big sister." When Jasmine was pregnant the first time around, she acknowledged that preparing for motherhood had taught her that she had to release "control," as the awareness grew that the new little one would "change everything in the best way." Jasmine recently took to her Instagram to thank her fans for their support after her pregnancy announcement and to show off her growing baby bump. She also took the opportunity to plug her new virtual design consultation service , which seems to be a smart business pivot during a time when she will have to be less physically present on job sites.

Jack McBrayer Gets “Wackadoo” With HGTV’s ‘Zillow Gone Wild’ & Talks Conan O’Brien [Interview]

What does this mean for 'help i wrecked my house' season 5.

The renewal announcement for Season 4 of Help! I Wrecked My House came in February 2023. Typically, TV series that follow a standard renewal timeline shoot in the same window from year to year. Given Jasmine's presence all over HGTV , plus the personal news of her pregnancy, it seems that if viewers are hoping for a renewal announcement any time soon, they may be waiting longer than expected.

The good news is that home renovations aren't going to stop, and viewer interest in watching home makeovers never seems to wain. This gives the production of Help! I Wrecked My House some flexibility when it comes to setting a return date. And homeowners in Southern California don't seem to lack confidence when it comes to undertaking big home renovation projects on their own, before running into unforeseen complications. As Jasmine puts a pause on her own projects to be with her family, homeowners are putting holes in their drywall to find what mysterious miseries their homes hold in their DIY future. Viewers should rest assured that when she does put her hard hat back on, the production of Help! I Wrecked My House is certain to find homeowners in need of Jasmine's help.

Help! I Wrecked My House is available to stream on Max in the U.S.

Donald Trump and Melania Trump celebrated their son, Barron Trump, at his high school graduation in West Palm Beach, Fla., Friday.

The former US president and first lady arrived together to the Oxbridge Academy ceremony with what appeared to be bodyguards by their sides.

Donald, 77, was dressed in a white dress shirt, blue tie and navy blue suit. He appeared in good spirits as he was photographed smiling all throughout the occasion.

Melania, 54, for her part, wore a black blazer over a white dress and accessorized the look with a straw sun hat. The normally stoic former model also appeared happy and having a good time.

The proud parents were snapped cheering and clapping while Barron, 18, received his diploma.

The 6-foot-7 teen walked across the stage wearing a navy blue cap and gown, and bright red sash.

At one point during the ceremony, Donald stood up and leaned over the banister of the stands to excitedly wave in the direction of the graduates, seemingly trying to get Barron’s attention.

Melania appeared amused by the gesture, laughing as she placed her hand on her husband’s side.

Donald and Melania were surrounded at the time by other parents and relatives, who attended the gathering dressed in their best spring garbs.

Most of them smiled and clapped along when the 45th US president engaged in the silly moment.

Donald was able to make it to the milestone event because his historic trial in NYC was on a brief break.

The Republican candidate for US president faces 34 counts of fraud for the hush money that was allegedly paid to ex-porn star Stormy Daniels  prior to the 2016 election.

Justice Juan Merchan allowed the court to adjourn Thursday after Donald’s former lawyer Michael Cohen was cross-examined. Those proceedings are scheduled to resume on Monday.

The trial began on April 15, and the real estate mogul made it clear at the time that he did not want his legal battle to conflict with Barron’s graduation.

“I was looking forward to that graduation with his mother and father there, and it looks like the judge does not allow me to escape this scam,” Donald told reporters last month in the Manhattan Supreme Court.

Judge Merchan previously said in response to the request, “It really depends on if we are on time and where we are in the trial.” However, he evidently succumbed to the idea.

Barron is the only child Donald and Melania, who have been married since 2005, share and he is the former’s youngest.

The former “Apprentice” host also has four other adult children from previous marriages: Donald Trump Jr., 46, Ivanka Trump, 42, Eric Trump, 40, and Tiffany Trump, 30.

What’s a hush trip—and can it get you in trouble with your boss.

Hush-cations or hush trips are defined as traveling without telling your boss or putting in a PTO ... [+] request, and working remotely from your vacation.

Many travelers post photos and reels from their vacations, showing off the scenery from their beach getaways or their retreats into the mountains, giving tours of their hotel suites and hovering their iPhones over plates of local cuisine. But there may be a growing segment of travelers who are keeping quiet about their travels, at least in real time—and it has nothing to do with being humble or worrying about being burglarized while away from home. Rather, they don’t want their bosses to know they’re away because they never submitted a PTO request, a move that’s known as a “hush-cation” or a “hush trip.”

The idea? If you can work from anywhere, why not log your hours from a vacation destination and take Zoom calls with a real-life beach in the background, yet be covert enough to keep your laptop’s camera turned off so you don’t blow your cover?

A large portion of the workforce has gone remote : Nearly 13% of people working from home, and 28% working a hybrid model and new reports shows that return-to-office mandates could drive employees to quit. With summer vacations on the horizon, there’s a chance some of your remote colleagues (especially if they’re Gen Z) are secretly working from vacation locales. But could a hush-cation or a hush trip get you in trouble with your boss?

While some surveys have surfaced about hush cations, it remains to be seen as to whether it’s something remote workers just fascinate about or if it’s something they actually do, much like the quiet quitting trend.

We talked with experts from human resources, business leadership, and a therapy background about hush trips—whether these types of getaways have merit, what problems they could reveal about a workplace, and if they could be fireable offenses should your boss find out. Here’s what experts have to say about hush-cations.

When Does ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3, Part 2 Come Out On Netflix? See The Release Schedule

A storm of 3 000 ukrainian bomblets blew up four russian jets at their base in crimea, samsung galaxy s24 series users really want to turn off one of its best features, what’s a hush-cation or a hush trip.

AC Hotel Clearwater Beach has a hush cation package for remote workers.

According to ResumeBuilder.com, a hush trip is where remote employees work from a vacation destination without telling their employers.

Last summer, the site surveyd 918 GenZers remote and hybrid workers and 44% revealed that they have taken a hush trip. About 65% used a virtual background to bamboozle their employers. The majority were able to get away with their trip without their bosses finding out and without getting in any hot water, despite the fact that one third of the hush trippers were just logging two hours a day.

Hotels are catching on, and some have even come up with clever marketing, like the “Hush Trip Haven” program at AC Hotel Clearwater Beach in Florida . The package comes with amenities and perks like a dedicated co-working space, a refreshment concierge, a special door hanger that says “Working ‘From Home’” and a webcam cover for privacy during virtual meetings.

Are Hush Trips a Symptom of Burnout?

Forty-four percent of Gen Z remote workers have admitted to taking a hush-cation, according to ... [+] ResumeBuilder.com.

Shelley Paxton , a business speaker and author of “Soulbattical” is a believer that time off is a prerequisite for creative, inspired, and energized work. It’s not a payoff for hard work, which is problematic given that it’s rarely taken in full and often shamed in a culture that celebrates busyness as a badge of honor, she says.

“As humans we need to slow down in order to speed up, so I fully support more conversations around remote work that also supports rejuvenation,” Paxton says. “The more of us choosing pause over push, the more healthy our workforce and productivity will be.”

However, Paxton says she’s also an advocate for transparent conversations about what’s needed to support a worker’s wellbeing or an entire organization’s healthy employee engagement.

“The ‘hush cation’ trend feels like it might be a reaction to not feeling supported in taking time off,” she says. “In my opinion, that means we’re moving in the wrong direction as the burnout, disengagement, and mental health crises continue to rise.”

Is Taking a Hush-Cation a Fireable Offense?

Some career experts say hush trips hint at trust issues in the workplace.

If you're in a situation that you feel compelled to not to tell your manager about your vacation, that's something to think about, says Daniel Space, an HR consultant and an HR content creator from DanFromHr.com .

“The purpose of a vacation is to destress and disconnect from your job, I can't imagine the stress of pretending to work while on vacation,” Space says. “Is the reward just to save vacation days?"

Hush cations run the risk of breaking trust or signaling to your manager that you can't take time off because you can't manage your workload, Space says.

Hush cations reveal a bigger workplace concerns about transparency, trust, and the overall culture within the organization, says Natalie Rosado, LMHC, founder and owner, Tampa Counseling Place .

Taking a hush trip could be especially problematic in industries with strict regulatory requirements, high security needs, or those that involve collaborative or shift-based work, she says.

Some specific sectors where such practices might particularly lead to complications or even disciplinary actions include: healthcare, finance and banking, government and public sector, education, cybersecurity, and legal services.

Still, some employers don’t have a problem with their remote employees getting their work done while they globe trot.

Josh Loewen, co-founder of the digital marketing agency The Status Bureau , found out one of his employees was on vacation after the fact.

“They thought they'd get in trouble, but it was the exact opposite,” he says. “I was proud of them for enjoying life and getting everything done at the same time. We've only got one life to live, so we may as well try to be happy. It's only when someone cannot deliver their work that things will get dicey.”

Vice President Kamala Harris rallies troops, raises funds on Illinois trip: 'Time to roll up our sleeves'

Vice President Kamala Harris sought to rally Democrats — and raise money — for the upcoming election on a visit to the Chicago area Thursday.

“It’s time to roll up our sleeves,” she told a group of about 100 people at a fundraiser in north suburban Glencoe. “We are not fighting against anything, we are fighting for something.”

Harris spoke for about 15 minutes, touching on abortion rights and what’s at stake in the upcoming election.

“Every cycle, we have talked about the critical importance of the presidential election,” Harris said. “This one, I absolutely believe, is the most consequential of any we have been involved in, in recent times.”

Her appearance raised more than $670,000 for the Biden Victory Fund, according to Lauren Rosenthal, chair of Invest to Elect Illinois, which organized the event.

The Biden-Harris ticket is set to be nominated at the Democratic National Convention this summer in Chicago. During Harris’s remarks, she did not use the name of the presumptive Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump, whom Biden defeated in 2020. But Harris did allude to the “chaos” of Trump’s four years in the White House.

The event was hosted by Karen Citow, a member of Invest to Elect Illinois, and her husband, Jonathan Citow, at their Glencoe home. Guests snacked on veggie rolls and steak kebabs on a covered terrace overlooking Lake Michigan.

Harris offered a hopeful perspective on the 2024 election. “We are winning,” she said, repeatedly, citing successes for reproductive rights in state elections.

Attendees paid from $1,500 to $50,000 to attend the event, according to a copy of the invitation obtained by the Sun-Times.

“We are being challenged as Americans, to fight for our country and to realize, and if nothing made that more clear than the Dobbs decision, that we can’t take anything for granted, ever, if we’re not prepared to fight.”

Before the stop in Glencoe, Harris was in Milwaukee Thursday morning, where she spoke with small business owners as part of her Economic Opportunity Tour.

Michael Cohen's testimony against Donald Trump delivered for prosecution, if jury believes him

Cohen testified that trump knew he was paying to silence a porn actress to influence the 2016 election, but the former president and his allies contend the convicted liar can't be trusted..

trip up from meaning

  • Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer, said he discussed with Trump personally getting reimbursed $130,000 he paid porn actress Stormy Daniels to keep her quiet about a sexual encounter.
  • Cohen testified Trump knew the payoff would influence the 2016 election by preventing another salacious story before the polls closed.

Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen delivered testimony crucial to the prosecution's case that Trump falsified business records to cover up a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels. According to Cohen , Trump knew about the $130,000 payment, directed it to benefit his 2016 campaign, and was deliberately reimbursing Cohen when he subsequently paid him $35,000 per month and recorded it as a legal expense.

"He approved it," Cohen told jurors, speaking about Trump.

But Trump and his allies have repeatedly argued Cohen is unreliable because he has been convicted and imprisoned for lying to Congress and to the Internal Revenue Service. Trump lawyer Todd Blanche said Cohen submitted invoices that described “payment to the retainer agreement for legal services rendered," rather than a payment to Daniels .

"None of this was a crime," Blanche said.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records to hide the campaign purpose of his reimbursements to Cohen.

Prep for the polls: See who is running for president and compare where they stand on key issues in our Voter Guide

Cohen provided details to support his testimony, and even a recording of him discussing a different hush money payment with Trump.

Jurors will have to decide whether they believe Trump’s or Cohen’s version of events − and who they believe will be key to how the verdict they reach.

Here are the key takeaways from Cohen's testimony:

'He approved it': Cohen on Trump approving payment to Stormy Daniels

Prosecutors are trying to prove Trump falsified business records to hide his reimbursements to Cohen because Daniels' claim of a sexual encounter could have hurt his chances in the 2016 election.

“Cohen was not being paid for legal services,” prosecutor Matthew Colangelo said in his opening statement. “The defendant was paying him back for an illegal payment to Stormy Daniels on the eve of the election. The defendant falsified those business records because he wanted to conceal his and others' criminal conduct.”

Cohen testified that he created a shell company called Essential Consultants to pay $130,000 to porn actress Stormy Daniels to keep silent about her claim of a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006 while he was married. Cohen described complex arrangements to avoid having Trump’s name on any documentation of the payment.

Cohen testified that he discussed with Trump and Allen Weisselberg, the former chief financial officer for the Trump Organization, about how to arrange his reimbursement for a total of $420,000, including the payment to Daniels, taxes and other fees. The discussion is a key element of the case because prosecutors need to show not only that the records were false but that Trump had an intent to defraud.

In Trump's presence, Weisselberg said during the meeting that $35,000 would be repaid monthly as a retainer for legal services, Cohen testified. A  legal retainer  is an agreement with a lawyer about compensation that reserves a lawyer or pays for future services.

Weisselberg is not expected to testify because he is jailed for perjury for lying during Trump’s New York civil fraud trial.

Cohen also provided a recording of Trump on Sept. 6, 2016 , discussing a $150,000 payment to silence former Playboy model Karen McDougal , who also claimed a sexual relationship with Trump. The National Enquirer’s parent company paid McDougal to kill her story and sought reimbursement from the Trump Organization. Cohen described to Trump, who already knew the figure was $150,000, how the payment would be financed,

'A disaster for the campaign': Trump's description, according to Cohen

Cohen testified that Trump pursued the nondisclosure agreement to avoid negative publicity before the pending election.

"Women are gonna hate me," Cohen recalled Trump saying of a potential story about Daniels . "Guys may think it's cool, but this is going to be a disaster for the campaign."

Cohen said Trump was concerned about the election rather than about his wife finding out about the accusation.

"He wasn't thinking about Melania," Cohen said. "This was all about the campaign."

The payment to Daniels came after the Washington Post released a recording in October 2016 of Trump talking about grabbing women by their genitals. Cohen said he was feeling pressure to silence Daniels to avoid her giving her story to the Daily Mail.

"Just do it," Cohen said Trump told him.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, testified that she sought the payment before the election because she was skeptical Trump would pay after he had either won or lost.

Trump instructed Cohen to try to delay paying Daniels until after the election because if he won, the story would have “no relevance” and “if I lose, I wouldn’t care,” Cohen testified.

Cohen critical of Trump and his lawyers

Under cross-examination, Cohen confirmed he has been harshly critical of Trump before and during the trial.

Cohen told Blanche he said Trump belongs in a "cage, like an animal."

Cohen also acknowledged that he has been making podcasts − six days a week − that often criticize Trump. Blanche asked Cohen to confirm he went on TikTok and  called Blanche a "crying little s---," which he did.

Asked if he said on TikTok he would like to see Trump convicted, Cohen said that sounded right.

"I would like to see accountability. It's not for me – it's for the jury and this court," Cohen added.

Trump contends payments were 'legal expenses to Cohen, not Daniels

Trump has argued his payments to Cohen were for a legal retainer and that he didn’t know Cohen was paying Daniels.

“I paid a lawyer a certain amount of money. We marked it down as a legal expense,” Trump told reporters Tuesday before entering the courtroom. “I didn’t mark it down as a construction of a wall, construction of a building. I didn’t mark it down as electricity cost. I took a legal expense – I didn’t do it, a bookkeeper did it, she did it exactly right – took a legal expense and called it a legal expense. This is the whole case.”

Cohen looking for 'revenge': House Speaker Johnson

Cohen served time in federal prison for lying to Congress, tax evasion and for a campaign-finance violation for his role in the hush money payment.

Trump and his allies repeatedly attacked Cohen as a convicted liar, disbarred for his crimes, although Judge Juan Merchan ordered Trump not to comment on witnesses during the trial.

“This is a man who is clearly on a mission for personal revenge and who is widely known as a witness who has trouble with the truth,” House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., told reporters Tuesday outside the courthouse. “He has a history of perjury and is well known for it. No one should believe a word he says today.”

Cohen acknowledged on Tuesday that he filed false invoices to claim the $35,000 payments from the Trump Organization.

Another Trump surrogate, Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., told reporters Tuesday that Cohen invoiced legal expenses and the Trump Organization paid them.

“Where is the crime? There is no crime,” Donalds said.
