What is the pick-up location for the Abu Dhabi city tour?

We pick you up either from the front of your hotel or Deira/Burjaman in case you choose to be picked up by our vehicle. Your tour starts after the pick-up and the first destination we reach is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The next stop on the itinerary is the Emirates Palace and this is followed by the much popular Ferrari World and the amazing Yas Island. The tour concludes with a visit to the Heritage Village and the Abu Dhabi Museum.

Do remember, we pick you up between 8:00 and 8:30 am and drop you between 2:00 and 2:30 pm.

Is smoking allowed in Abu Dhabi?

You are barred from smoking in government areas, shopping malls, and offices. You aren’t allowed to take e-cigarettes and vaping isn’t allowed either. However, Abu Dhabi does have some zones set aside for smoking. You can smoke there as long as you don’t affect others. In violation of smoking laws, you’ll need to pay a fine or you might even end up in jail.

What are the appropriate clothes to wear in Abu Dhabi?

Men can turn up in light chinos or cargo trousers when it’s summertime. If you choose to wear shorts, make sure that they reach your knees or even lower. Women should cover their heads with a cloth when they enter any place of worship. They are otherwise allowed to wear skirts, knee length or longer.

You shouldn’t wear see-through attire or clothes with profanities on them. You should also avoid shorts, sleeveless clothing, and tight-fitting attire as well.

Do you provide English speaking guide with the tour package?

How is the weather in Abu Dhabi?

The weather remains warm until July- 33 degrees Celsius temperature. However, August is the hottest in the city, with Mercury levels reaching 36 degrees Celsius. January in Abu Dhabi is cold, with temperatures dropping to 18 degrees Celsius. The city experiences some rainfall during February. Therefore, you can come between April to May or September to October, as the weather remains pleasant.

What to consider when traveling to Abu Dhabi?

When traveling to Abu Dhabi, you must consider the below-listed things.

• Men and women must cover their shoulders and knees, especially when visiting a mosque. Besides, no one can wear a bikini or inappropriate swimsuit on the beach.
• Learn basic Arabic words- Thank You, Hello, Water, and Help. These will help you show courtesy during self-help.
• The weather in Abu Dhabi stays unpleasant most of the time. Hence, plan a trip between October to May to enjoy a pleasant holiday.

Welcome to Dubai, the land of dreams or Utopia as we call it. Upon arrival, you'll meet up with your group for private transfer to your hotel accommodations. We  will hold a private reception during the check-in process. The rest of the night is yours to settle into your hotel and enjoy your accommodations. 

Today's highlights include a visit of the Dubai Museum that is housed in the 180-year-old Al Fahidi Fort, you will cross the Dubai Creek onboard an “Abra” (water taxi) for a visit of the Spice Souk and Gold Souk. As well as a visit of the Burj Khalifa 124th floor. Special group dinner this evening *Dress Code enforced*. 

  Visit the Emirate of Sharjah, often called the cultural center of the Middle East. Later this afternoon, experience the sheer thrill of driving up and down the golden yellow sand in 4x4 quads. Drive over the high sand dunes before entering the campsite where you can relax in the tranquility of the desert and enjoy an authentic Arabian Barbeque. After the barbeque, professional dancers will demonstrate the ancient art of belly dancing. Sand boarding and Henna painting are also included. 

 Enjoy the day at leisure to relax or explore Dubai on your own. Go ziplining, visit the waterpark, explore the Dubai Mall, relax on the beach, etc. There will be plenty of afternoon parties and night parties to get into (almost everyday of the week).  

 Travel to  Abu Dhabi, passing the largest manmade seaport in the world. Stop for photos at the former residence of previous UAE president Sheikh Zayed, and admire the third biggest mosque in the world – Sheikh Zayed Mosque. The tour continues to the Al Bateen area, home to the palaces of the Royal Family. Have a shopping break in the world-famous Marina Mall before arriving at your hotel in Abu Dhabi. 

 Take your time to enjoy this full day at leisure at the beach, embark on an optional visit to Ferrari World,  Yas Marina Circuit to take a few laps around the F1 formula track, or Yas Waterworld.  

Travel back to Dubai for a chance to embark on an optional tour, explore Dubai at your own pace, or experience the Global Village (included). Global village is a one stop shop for dining and entertainment bringing over 80 different cultures across over 25 pavilions. From artisans to entertainers you can discover wonders from all four corners of the world at Global Village.

IT’S not often that I will turn to rom-coms for travel advice.

Yet as I drive through Abu Dhabi ’s Saadiyat Island, where 15 years ago desert and shrubs stood, and now shining soon-to-be skyscrapers, I find myself agreeing with Sex And The City’ s Samantha: Abu Dhabi is the new Middle East.

The pace of change here means you can expect something new each year — super-luxe hotels and restaurants and high-tech entertainment attractions that make those in Europe look old hat.

Abu Dhabi — Dubai’ s rich big sis — is the capital of the UAE and no amount of money has been spared on making sure we all know it.

Yet a holiday here isn’t just for the wealthy. Far from it.

Now that British Airways has relaunched direct flights from Heathrow after a four-year hiatus, bringing some well-priced competition to a market dominated by UAE airline Etihad , holidaymakers have greater choice when it comes to both cost and flight times.

In fact, holiday packages start from around £500pp in June with BA Holidays — and even at this price you will be treated like a king , with high-end service.

A camel ride topped my bucket list thanks to the exploits of my Abu Dhabi guru Samantha — played by Kim Cattrall — in Sex And The City 2. (Disclaimer: Most of the film was shot in Morocco).

Before reaching the camels, though, my Desert Rose group- safari tour began with a much less traditional sport — dune-bashing.

More thrilling than most roller coasters I have been on, the tyres of our 4X4 were deflated a little to give it more bounce as we thundered over mighty sand dunes with almighty force.

Speeding over their soft peaks, we crashed down the other side at such a steep angle that the roof and windows became submerged in sand and our group gripped on to headrests, handles and just about anything stable.

It was nail-biting stuff and, truth be told, I was rather grateful for the more mellow pace of our Bedouin camp when we reached it 20 or so minutes later.

At the foot of another huge dune, the desert refuge was a sight to behold — glowing in the amber light of a slowly sinking sun.

Here you can sample many age-old desert traditions, ranging from camel rides and henna painting to sand surfing and shisha smoking.

All of this is included in the price of a tour package — another great way to keep costs down.

You must scramble to the top of the dune before you surf it.

But I didn’t mind this so much when the reward was one of the most impressive sunsets I have ever seen, turning the epic sandscape red before it gradually became engulfed in darkness.

At the centre of our camp was a stage bordered by traditional rugs and low tables with cushions for seats.

Dinner was included too — a buffet of traditional, spice-laden curry dishes, creamy hummus and crispy falafels alongside some Western dishes such as tomato pasta, chips and green salads to keep younger tummies happy.

It seems the concept of dinner and a show is fully embraced in Abu Dhabi — and although the belly dancer and fire-eater who wiggled across the stage were not traditional to this part of the world, they are still entertaining.

But do bring a jacket, as the desert can get chilly once the sun sets, even in balmier seasons. I was grateful for the respite, though, after spending most of the day in 35C spring heat.

And I certainly welcomed the powerful air-conditioning that hit me as I strolled into the entrance of Warner Bros World on Yas Island the next day.

This was possibly the most pleasant theme park I have ever visited — and not just because the full- blown rollercoasters and thrill rides are crammed into one super air-con palace.

We queued no longer than five minutes for each ride and workers assured us that even at weekends it remains relatively quiet here.

Where should you head first?

Batman: Knight Flight was a big hit, propelling me into the city of Gotham in an alternate reality — as I was tasked with defeating The Joker, while TV screens with animated videos juddered in time with my seat.

After chowing down on burgers with Bugs Bunny, I got my culture fix on Saadiyat Island — home to the Louvre gallery, which has an agreement to share the name of the museum in Paris and borrow many of its artworks.

It is a real gem, allowing you to admire the works of masters such as Renoir, Picasso and Monet without lengthy queues.

This is also the place to head for five-star seafront luxury where restaurants offering any cuisine you can imagine spill out on to sun-drenched beaches, and luxury hotels abound.

On the mainland, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the prettiest place of worship I have ever seen, while the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental hotel is a landmark in its own right.

The resort is so vast that you will need a golf buggy to make your way around the immaculately kept gardens and golden fountains.

The sheer opulence, impeccable hotel service and not-too-shabby price tag made me question why I had never looked to Abu Dhabi as a holiday destination before.

All this plus the fact that the three-hour time difference for visitors from the UK means there is no jet lag.

Perhaps it had always been overshadowed by the glitz and glam of Dubai or maybe it was the lack of culture — I now know that is not true, after my visit to Saadiyat which in 2025 will also be home to a Natural History Museum and the Zayed National Museum.

I arrived back at the five-star Jumeirah on Saadiyat Island in time to catch the last hour of afternoon sun.

By this point it was streaming on to my balcony and through the glass doors so much that my bed was swimming in sunlight.

I flopped on to it, letting my head sink into a marshmallow-like stack of pillows.

Who needs the beach or pool when you can sunbathe from bed?

Etihad Airways passengers can now add a free stop in Abu Dhabi. Here's how it works.

T ravelers connecting through Abu Dhabi on Etihad Airways now have the option of extending their layover and exploring the Persian Gulf city.

Etihad is introducing a stopover program that lets passengers spend up to two free nights at a hotel in the capital of the United Arab Emirates as part of their itinerary.

“This innovative initiative provides a snapshot of the diverse experiences available here – from entertainment and culture to leisure and beyond – inspiring travelers to return and immerse themselves in the complete Abu Dhabi experience,” H.E. Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, director general for Tourism at the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, said in a statement .

Cruising Altitude: 1 trip, 2 destinations - How flight stopovers can enhance your trips

According to Etihad, the stopover promotion is only available to passengers who book directly through the airline’s website . Passengers can choose from a range of premier hotels for their complimentary stopover nights.

Etihad CEO Antonoaldo Neves previously told USA TODAY in an interview on April 18 that Abu Dhabi is investing heavily in tourism.

“This place is amazing for visitors,” he said in the interview.

What is an airline stopover?

Many airlines offer stopovers – free extensions of existing layovers on multi-leg trips. Stopover programs typically let travelers leave the airport and explore the airline’s home base.

Some of the most popular stopover programs include TAP Air Portugal’s option to extend a visit in the cities of Porto or Lisbon, and Icelandair’s offer for fliers to visit the island on their way to or from Europe.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates  – Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) have announced the launch of Abu Dhabi Stopover. The announcement was made at the Arabian Travel Market following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between DCT Abu Dhabi’s Director General for Tourism, His Excellency Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, and Etihad’s CEO Antonoaldo Neves.

The Abu Dhabi Stopover, exclusive to Etihad Airways, invites guests flying through Abu Dhabi to turn their free stopover hotel stay into the ultimate holiday. The capital of the UAE is an exciting and convenient stopover destination, thanks to its world-class hotels, stunning beaches, vibrant dining scene and full-throttle entertainment.

When booking flights with Etihad, guests now have the option to add a stopover and select a complimentary hotel as part of the online booking process. Guests can choose a free stay for one or two nights in a range of premier hotels across the city. Stopover packages are only available when booking direct on etihad.com.

Comedy, musicals, hip-hop and classical music gigs are some of the events coming our way in the UAE.

A host of big names and star attractions from around the world will be taking centre stage through the coming months from the broadway musical Chicago to the Arab pop hits of Egypt's Ahmed Saad.

Rock concerts by The Scorpions and Green Day are also on the cards in addition to bevy of comedy shows by stars such as Dave Chappelle, Andrew Schulz and Aziz Ansari. Here, The National rounds up the best live events coming up.

1. Mikki: Wednesday to Sunday at Qs Bar and Lounge and Palazzo Versace Dubai

The Dutch singer found fame at home with her star turn on the television talent quest The Voice Holland . UAE fans can now hear the artist on a regular basis with Mikki's residency at the stylish jazz venue Q's Bar and Lounge. In addition to original tracks, her set will take on the jazz standards and favourites from RnB songbook.

Supporting Miami Band is the rising young Saudi singer Ayed Yousef.

25. Green Day and The Offspring: January 27 at Expo City Dubai

The veteran American punk-rock bands will make their Middle East debut in a purpose-built open-air concert venue that will host up to 30,000 people. Expect to hear three decades worth of Green Day hits, including Holiday , Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Longview . The Offspring also have an extensive catalogue of tracks, including the 1998 hit Pretty Fly (For a White Guy), as well as early favourites Come Out and Play and Self Esteem.

UAE to offer visa support for Indians hosting Abu Dhabi destination weddings: Details

Dubai: Do you fancy a destination wedding in a royal Emirati setting? To establish Abu Dhabi as a premier wedding destination, the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau (ADCEB) has announced an initiative to extend visa support to Indian nationals hosting weddings across the Emirate. The ADCEB, which is a part of the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, is undertaking this initiative to establish the UAE capital as a premier wedding destination, a statement released here said. The recently announced new visa initiative contributes to Abu Dhabi's tourism strategy 2030, which aims to boost visitor numbers to 39.3 million by 2030. 

The destination wedding segment is among the newest verticals to join the ADCEB as part of an overarching objective to attract domestic and international visitors and increase the sector's contribution to the GDP to AED 90 billion as per the 2030 strategy, the statement said. India is recognised as one of the largest markets for destination weddings globally, making it a key target market for Abu Dhabi. By extending visa support to Indian weddings, in the form of absorbing costs, the ADCEB's destination wedding segment aims to position Abu Dhabi as a world-leading destination for weddings and celebrations of all kinds. 

It provides an avenue to amplify the Emirate's unique cultural and entertainment offerings, cultural attractions and natural landscapes for international audiences. Weddings are also a key revenue stream for the hospitality sector, driving venue and hotel room occupancy, and the service industry sectors such as wedding planning, photography, catering, personal services and more, said the statement.
