Awful claim experience

Getting a policy = easy (hence the thousands of good positive reviews). Try making a claim = terrible. Declined claim after 12 months of lost documents, 2 complaints, lack of response. Terrible - avoid.

Good cover for the price...

Good level of cover for the price but of course the real test of any insurance is when you make a claim, and I hope we don't have to do that!

I have used puffin insurance a few times I think it’s reasonable and easy to get through the questions. Last year my husband took a massive heart attack at Dublin airport and puffin insurance got everything. Sorted for me within a week.

Totally incompetent, don't listen, don't apologise!

Changed our two dogs, previously insured separately with Puffpet, to a joint insurance with Puffpet. Due to their incompetence they forgot to cancel the single policies and took the direct debits for the single and the joint policy. It took two emails, three rather heated telephone calls to get them to admit their mistake and say they would refund the amounts wrongly taken. No apology though!

Exceptional customer service

There were problems with the dates because we were unable to fly when we'd expected, but Puffin were remarkably efficient in helping to change the policy with exceptional customer service well beyond anything I'd expected. If I could give them more stars, I would love to do so. Can't recommend highly enough. I don't anticipate needing to make any claims but on the basis of my dealings with the company so far, I imagine their service in that context would be just as great. A huge thanks to Sue in Customer Services--you're a star.

Easy to purchase.

Easy to purchase. Hopefully I will never have to make a claim, so will never know if they are true to word. Fingers crossed. Would never travel without insurance and for what cover I wanted, they were a fair price.

Another excellent policy

Ease of completing the online form and being able to use Puffin again particularly with my medical statement. A pleasure to use Puffin.

Renewing my travel insurance.

I had let my annual travel insurance lapse; after a few months I needed travel insurance again. I went back to Puffin, and found that the premium had risen by about 50%; however, this is in common with many insurances, including car insurance. The process of re-starting my insurance was problem-free, and Puffin are still the best value travel insurance that I have found.

customer support very helpful

customer support very helpful. i had made an error regarding my travel dates. unfortunately they couldn't be corrected to a later date because i was too far in advance of my travel dates and their pre quote limitations. therefore i had to cancel the policy and take a refund in full of my payment. however as they were so helpful i will reapply for cover in a month or so when i dont exceed their pre quote limitations.

Holiday insurance

We saw Puffin on a comparison site. Then went to the Puffin site directly. In spite of pre-existing health problems we found an insurance policy for our holiday which gave us excellent cover for a reasonable price.

I used Puffin insurance last time I visited Bulgaria in 2023. The experience then was easy and the experience now was very straight forward. I have upgraded from single trip to annual insurance. As my needs have changed. I plan on taking multiple trips this year. What optional extras can I add to my Puffin travel insurance policy?

Puffin Insurance offers a variety of “bolt-on” benefits so that you can tailor your travel insurance policy to suit your individual needs.

Winter sports cover

If you’re heading off on a ski or snowboarding holiday, you’ll want this extra level of protection. This additional level of cover provides you with protection for activities that involve snow or ice, including owned or rented equipment cover, ski equipment hire if your luggage is delayed and avalanche and piste closure. You will benefit from:

• Up to £500 to repair or replace equipment that has been damaged, stolen or lost
• Up to £250 to hire replacement equipment in the event that yours is delayed (max £25 per 24 hours)

Gadget cover

This optional extra covers the cost of repairing or replacing your gadgets such as your mobile phone, tablet or laptop if they are accidentally lost, stolen or damaged during your trip. Gadget cover is included as standard on all Platinum level policies up to £500 and is available as an optional extra on all policies up to £1000, increasing to £1500 for Platinum policies.
