Live Review: Avenged Sevenfold + Alexisonfire + Kim Dracula @ Rogers Arena, Vancouver – August 7th 2023
Under the electric glow of Vancouver’s Rogers Arena, a night of musical intensity and exhilarating performances unfolded on August 8th, 2023. This evening was a testament to the enduring power of rock and metal, as fans from all corners of the city converged to witness a concert that would leave an indelible mark on their memories. The main act of the night was none other than Avenged Sevenfold, supported by the dynamic opening acts Kim Dracula and Alexisonfire.
Kicking off the night was the enigmatic Kim Dracula, whose lead singer defied all expectations by bringing a chainsaw on stage during one of their songs. As if that wasn’t enough, the band had set up a chess board on stage, and for a fleeting moment, a chess game unfolded amidst the music’s chaos. The lead singer’s powerful scream vocal ability was a force to be reckoned with, and the rest of the band donned metal demon masks, adding an air of mystique to their performance. Their rowdy energy immediately engaged the crowd, setting the perfect tone for the night ahead.
The second opening act, Alexisonfire, stormed onto the stage with an energy that could power a small city. A mainstay in the Canadian music scene, they lived up to their reputation with an instrumentally tight and musically captivating performance. Their camaraderie and shared love for music was palpable, as they effortlessly connected with the audience. As the first notes hit, it became evident why many in the audience were there solely for Alexisonfire. A massive mosh pit erupted in the general admission crowd area, underscoring the band’s undeniable magnetism.
And then, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived—the curtain call for Avenged Sevenfold. The main artist took the stage with an intensity that electrified the entire arena. Their setlist was a rollercoaster of emotions, weaving through fan favorites and newer hits. The performance was complemented by dark visuals on the video screen backdrops, including eerie horror themes and a haunted house with balloons that floated in eerie beauty.
Fronted by a mesmerizing lead singer, Avenged Sevenfold commanded attention like no other. His presence held the audience captive, and his vocal prowess soared through the arena. The band’s guitarists showcased an impressive depth of skill, their fingers dancing across the strings with both precision and emotion. The drummer’s relentless energy was unleashed, serving as the rhythmic heartbeat of the performance.
The audience reciprocated the band’s energy in kind, responding to every chord and lyric with head-banging enthusiasm and spirited screams. It was a sight to behold, as fans became part of the performance, caught in a wave of shared passion and unity. The concert reached its pinnacle with an encore that left everyone yearning for more, bringing the night to a crescendo of sound and emotion.
As the final notes faded into the night, there was a collective sense of awe in the air. Avenged Sevenfold had delivered a performance that transcended the boundaries of music, forging a connection between the band and the audience that would be etched into memory. From the fervor of the opening acts to the intensity of the headliner’s set, this was a night that exemplified the power of live music to uplift, inspire, and unite.
In a world where experiences can sometimes feel fleeting, this concert was a poignant reminder that the magic of music has the ability to leave a lasting impact. Avenged Sevenfold, along with their remarkable supporting acts Kim Dracula and Alexisonfire, created an atmosphere of unadulterated energy and excitement that reinvigorated the spirit of everyone in attendance. This was not just a concert—it was a breathtaking journey through sound and emotion, a testament to the enduring power of rock and metal to stir the soul.

Here's what you need to know about the City and Colour concert this week in Vancouver
- Share by Email

Canada's City and Colour is returning this week for a show at Rogers Arena.
The prolific Dallas Green (also a singer and songwriter with Alexisonfire) will be playing Feb. 8 at Rogers Arena, bringing his brand of singer-songwriter, acoustic guitar-led rock to the arena. He's touring to support his seventh City and Colour album, The Love Still Held Me Near . Vancouver will be the second date on the tour; Victoria is first on Feb. 6.
Opening for City and Colour is Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats; playing traditional American rhythm and blues style, Rateliff and his band had a monster hit in 2015 with S.O.B.
Before either take the stage, the Juno-nominated Ruby Waters will take the stage. Fans of City and Colour may have seen her open for Green a few years ago when she played on an American tour with him.
Doors open at 7 p.m.
Tickets are still available for the show, at a range of prices in a few different areas. While there are a couple resale tickets in the sub-$60 range, there are a lot more going for $66.65 (plus a processing fee) in the upper bowl of the arena.
On the other end of the spectrum, there are still spots in the standing-room-only pit directly in front of the stage, going for $214. If you still want to be close to the stage, but rather sit, floor seats will run you somewhere between $115 and $140.
Transportation
TransLink doesn't have any major transit service alerts for SkyTrain or SeaBus routes on Thursday night at time of publishing. Hullo hasn't lined up an extra sailing for Vancouver Island fans.
Restrictions
A few things aren't allowed in Rogers Arena for the show. Notably, some bags won't be permitted; all bags need to be under 35.5 cm by 35.5 cm by 15.2 cm. For reference, 35.5 cm is just a bit over 13 inches.
Rogers Arena is also a smoke-free zone, as far as cigarettes and cannabis are concerned. The band may have smoke machines.
Other common sense items , like skateboards, selfie sticks and outside food and drinks, should be left at home.
Cashless venue
Rogers Arena has gone cashless.
"Concession, retail stands, and hospitality will exclusively accept contactless forms of payment," states the venue's website.
Fan service
Rogers Arena has a fan service number to text if there are any issues during the show: 604-765-3267.
Concert-goers can text their issue and their location (seat number and row along with the section) and get help.

Nashville predators at vancouver canucks game 2 odds, picks and predictions, share this article.
The Nashville Predators and Vancouver Canucks meet in Game 2 of a best-of-7 Western Conference 1st-round series Tuesday. Puck drop from Rogers Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Predators vs. Canucks odds , and make our expert NHL picks and predictions .
Playoff series: Canucks lead 1-0
The underdog Predators (+135) held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes, and a 2-1 lead heading into the 3rd period. Nashville held its own for most of the game, but it allowed 2 goals in a 12-second span to Pius Suter and Dakota Joshua , and once the crowd got back into it, the Predators knuckled under. Joshua added an empty-net goal to put a bow on the scoring. He also led the team with 6 hits.
It was a rare Over result for Nashville, as the Under was 4-2 in the final 6 games of the regular-season, with just 17 goals allowed in the span. However, against Vancouver, the Over has now cashed in 3 straight meetings, and 7 of the past 8 encounters in the series since Feb. 1, 2022.
The Canucks welcomed All-Star goaltender Thatcher Demko back from injury April 16 against the Calgary Flames, and he had mixed results in his final 2 regular-season starts. But he was rock-solid in Game 1, allowing just 2 goals on 22 shots in his 4th-career postseason start.
Quinn Hughes posted 2 assists, which is already his 5th-career multi-point performance in the postseason.

Predators at Canucks odds
Provided by BetMGM Sportsbook ; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:50 p.m. ET.
- Moneyline (ML) : Predators +120 (bet $100 to win $130) | Canucks -145 (bet $145 to win $100)
- Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS) : Predators +1.5 (-210) | Canucks -1.5 (+165)
- Over/Under (O/U) : 5.5 (O: -125 | U: +105)
Predators at Canucks projected goalies
Juuse Saros (35-24-5, 2.86 GAA, .906 SV%, 3 SO – regular season) vs. Thatcher Demko (35-14-2, 2.45 GAA, .918 SV%, 5 SO – regular season)
Saros made just 17 saves on 20 shots, as Vancouver doesn’t take a lot of shots per game. In fact, while the Canucks ranked 6th in goals scored (3.4) and 11th on the power play (22.7%) in the regular season, they were just 26th in shots on goal (SOG) with 28.4 per game.
Demko has a tremendous defense in front of him, and he made just 20 saves on 22 shots in Game 1. Vancouver limited Nashville to 6 SOG apiece in the first 2 periods, before a flurry of 10 shots in the 3rd period, including late with the extra attacker.

Predators at Canucks picks and predictions
Canucks 3, Predators 2
The CANUCKS (-145) are as solid play in Game 2, although expect another close game. Vancouver bettors were in trouble through 40 minutes in Game 1 before the Canucks had a flurry of 3 goals in the final period. The Predators (+120) were able to dictate their pace and style for much of the game, and it was a very defensive, physical contest which is what Nashville wants.
Back the Canucks, but expect to sweat until the very end, perhaps even into overtime.
Puck line/Against the spread
The Predators +1.5 (-210) will cost you 2 times your potential return, and that’s way too risky if you require a little bit of insurance and cannot play Nashville straight up.
UNDER 5.5 ( +105 ) is going a bit against the grain, and it would be a much more comfortable bet buying half-goal or full goal to give some more wiggly room, but that can get quite expensive.
We saw the Over cash in Game 1, barely, on the late ENG. We saw the Over cash in 2 of the 3 regular-season meetings. We saw the Over cash in 7 of the past 8 meetings in the series. You’re going against the trends with an Under play, but with Saros and Demko at opposite ends, goals are going to be at a premium.
