  • Fannie W 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Delphi tour Delphi tour took over 3 hours one way. We were picked up at our hotel by a mini van and transferred to a bus at the main office of the tour agency. The bus had a bad smell and the seats had no leg room. The most uncomfortable bus I have ridden on. I would not go through this tour operator again. We had a bathroom break along the way. The site was a disappointment. On the way back, we stopped at the restaurant and ate lunch- for those who purchased lunch , they had a 3 course menu- Greek salad, appetizer- all fried items on a platter, and main. We ordered on our own. Then another 3 hours back. I would not do it again. I recommend Meteora tour - that was beautiful and sights were amazing. See my next review. Read more Written April 28, 2024
  • L1463ZBmichellek 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Great insights into Ancient Greek history and mythology Very interesting tour with impressive and knowledgeable commentary by Dimitris and expert driving by Tomas. Bus ride was comfortable for the 5 hour journey there and back with brief breaks along the way. The three course lunch, which was optional, was in a charming restaurant offering traditional food which was very nice. Read more Written April 28, 2024

  • Hannah S 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Beautiful area of Greece, informative and fascinating tour A great tour that's definately worth going on. The site was extremely impressive and our guide was very informative showing us pictures of what each area would have looked like. The museum was very good too, the guide showed us all of the pieces she referred to on the site tour such as the sphinx statue which was so much bigger than we expected. The lunch stop was in a lovely restaurant with lots of traditional Greek food. One of the nicest parts of this tour was a stop at a viewpoint where you could look out over the landscape and over the nearby town, very very beautiful area. Definately recommend taking this tour. • Luke_A_TO 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Meteora done right Demetrius and George were great. Wonderful, informative experience and they put in the effort to make it memorable. Remember to pack for the weather in Kalambaka as it gets quite chilly inland. Try not to sleep through the ride on the way to Kalambaka as there is no daylight on the way back for the landscape views. Read more Written April 23, 2024

Most of all thanks to the excellent guide! In the very first minute she created an incredible atmosphere (kalamari/kalimera) and conjured Delphi so much that we felt like we were part of ancient times... Every time entertaining and informative, she gave us countless interesting stories not only about ancient times but also about the everyday life of modern Greeks... P.S. And we also met the president of Greece :) and passed the test ;) "Grigoris"/Igor Read more Written April 18, 2024
  • msgtp 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Great local guide The trip from Athens to Meteora is extremely uncomfortable (outside temperature of 30C but bus extremely hot as driver never engaged AC). Once you survive the trip up the local guides are wonderful, personable and knowledgeable. The monasteries are amazing! The rock formations extremely impressive. Ride back to Athens unremarkable because sleep is the order of the evening/night. Very good trip but could be great with a tweak to procedure on the ride from Athens to Meteora. • digii_ben 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Beautiful trip into the Greek country to see Ancient Ruins Amazing trip out to see the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, the Theatre of Delphi and the Delphi Museum. We loved our meal at the restaurant, great food and the hosts were lovely. It's a fair drive out as your going into the valley between the mountains, but the views are STUNNING! And our awesome tour guide Kostas made the drive go by quickly with stories of Greek Mythology, local history and made the tour through the ruins very immersive. A true credit to the tour operator! • heloisej624 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Nice Tour! Good experience!! The tour was super nice!! I wish we were able to have a bit more time on each Island though. We spent 1 hour in Hydra, 40 minutes in Poros and 2 hours in Aegina. Especially for Poros 40 minutes wasn't enough time since most of the things to do there were about a 20 minute walk away. There seemed to be a bit more to do and see in Poros than Hydra so I would've rather we had more time in Poros than Hydra. The cruise company offered optional guided tours at an additional cost in Hydra and Aegina. There was a walking tour in Hydra and two different bus tours in Aegina (one historical tour and one Panoramic tour). We didn't opt for the tour of Hydra but we did do the one in Aegina. The tour of Aegina was helpful because since we were on a bus we were able to visit historical locations we wouldn't have been able to get to otherwise. The tour company offered a discounted student rate for tickets and historical tours in both English and Japanese (I'm not sure if Japanese is standard or if this was due to the languages spoken on board). The food onboard was very good, my friend and I are vegetarian and there were a lot of options for us (pasta, chickpeas, rice, potatoes, salad!) However, the listing that we booked off of said that soft drinks were included with our ticket and they were not. There were also alcoholic drinks available on board for purchase at reasonable prices. Overall a nice experience but I wish we had more time on some of the islands! Read more Written March 25, 2024

audio tour of acropolis museum

€  11,99 per person

Enjoy at your own pace the dazzling Acropolis Museum with a self-guided audio tour on your smartphone.

Travel back in time to experience the glory of Classical Athens with a brilliantly tied narrative. As you enter the museum, you’ll admire the impressive glass floor showcasing ruins of an ancient settlement buried below. Gear yourself up for all the exciting exhibits that will follow! In the first gallery, you’ll get an insider’s view of everyday life in ancient Athens. You’ll discover bygone wedding customs and ancient surgery practices as you gradually ascend to the next floor. There, the exhibits will guide you through the riveting journey of the city’s transition to democracy. Monsters, heroes, gods and iconic representations of the human body, will guide you through the evolution of ancient art.

The highlight of your visit will be the third floor, where you’ll marvel at the sculptural decoration of the Parthenon.  Listen to the engrossing myths that you’ll see depicted on the metopes and pediments of the temple, such as the birth of goddess Athena and the battle of the Centaurs. Finally, your tour ends with the culminating age of Greek style, the classical period, and some of the most famed artworks of Ancient Athens, including the iconic Caryatids. These curvaceous maidens have witnessed the turbulent 2.500-year story of the Acropolis and are waiting to share it with you!

An ambitious project

The first architectural competition for the new Acropolis Museum was staged in 1976, but it took three more contests before the Swiss-French architect Bernard Tschumi was officially declared the winner in late 2001. He created a museum whose interior is airy and light-filled. Large glass surfaces on the facade allow natural light to enter the building and “embrace” the sculptures. Tschumi envisaged the repatriation of the Parthenon Marbles from the British Museum and created the areas where they can be displayed. His design also took into consideration the preservation of the ancient residential quarter discovered below the museum. The glass floor allows visitors to explore classical Athens beneath their feet.
