The Baby Jogger City Tour is part of the Strollers test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, Traditional and other strollers models like the City Tour are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Ease of use: Ease of use is based primarily on ease of using and adjusting the safety harness, folding and unfolding, adjusting the backrest, lifting and carrying, engaging wheel brakes and car seat removal and installation (only for compatible strollers).

Suitable for 6 mos. and under

Suitability for babies 6 months and younger means the stroller's seat reclines to nearly flat. It may include a safety flap or enclosure at the child's feet so, if not harnessed, he can't slip or wiggle out of the seat. Even with this added feature, the harness should always be used. Strollers with the note "with accessory" require a separately purchased accessory to accommodate a 0-6 months baby safely, per the manufacturer.

Car-seat compatible as sold

Car-seat compatibility is useful when moving a sleeping infant from a car to the stroller; there's no need to wake your baby from that much-needed nap. In our Ratings, strollers designated as "Car-seat compatible as sold" include any and all accessories needed to install at least one model of infant car seat. Some strollers allow a car seat to snap right in, while others may need a bracket or other adapter.

Suitable for running or jogging

According to the manufacturer, this stroller can be used for running or jogging. Remember to check with your pediatrician before taking your little passenger along for a run; CR's medical experts advise that a child should be one year old before riding with a running parent. A younger baby may not have sufficient head and neck control to tolerate the bumps and jounces he might experience on your run. Be sure to read the appropriate section of your stroller's instruction manual carefully before taking your child out for a run with you.

Best for easy folding.

An easy fold cannot be underestimated when you're in the market for a lightweight buggy , so much so it earns its own Mumsnet prize. The Baby Jogger City Tour could not be bested when it came to folding prowess

If you're a fan of the Baby Jogger City Mini, the Tour will be right up your street. The City Tour's quick fold was our favourite in the category. It collapses at the push of a button and is by far the easiest to do with one hand. Not only that; this buggy is lightweight, has ample storage space and can be easily steered with one hand for that extra bit of convenience.

How does the Baby Jogger City Tour handle?

The City Tour is a slick mover. During the testing period we pushed this buggy across grass, hills and rough pavements, we also used it on public transport. Lifting the buggy up bumpy kerbs and onto buses was very easy and even with a weighty toddler on board, we were impressed by how easy it was to handle. It's one of the lighter strollers at 7.6kg, making it easy to lift and to steer with one hand (so you can hold a coffee in the other – bonus!).

How comfortable is the City Tour?

Unlike the Silver Cross Reflex and the Joie Nitro who have all wheel suspension, the City Tour only has suspension on the front wheels, nevertheless, we felt it still offered a comfortable ride for our mini tester.

Like most newer buggies , the City Tour seat has a five point harness and a reclining seat which can be adjusted using a strap at the back of the chair. Unfortunately, it doesn't recline to completely flat, but as this is a stroller for children aged 6 months and up, small children should still find it comfortable enough for an afternoon snooze.

How easy is the Baby Jogger City fold?

The fold on the Baby Jogger City is one of its main selling points and it doesn't disappoint. Replicating previous Baby Jogger models, you simply push a red button, lift the handle in the middle of the seat and the Baby Jogger folds. It is the easiest of all of the folds we tested. A lot of brands claim to offer a one hand fold, but this is one of the few that truly delivers.

Reopening the buggy can also be done with one hand by releasing a side clasp and shaking it out. We found this invaluable when using public transport alone, with a baby on one arm; it saves faffing and allows you to use the steps in stations and in buildings.

Despite its quick fold, it's not the most compact buggy on the market. Although Baby Jogger claims it can fit into an overhead locker, when folded the City Tour is a little bit taller than the ever so compact Babyzen YOYO+ .

How easy is it to carry when folded.

The City Tour stroller is easy to carry when folded; it has a handy shoulder strap and even fits into a lightweight, backpack-style carry bag, which is the right size for hand luggage when travelling. While you wouldn't use the travel bag on a day to day basis, we thought it could be useful on holiday, or even to keep it neatly stacked in the car boot.

How much storage does the City Tour have?

Although this pushchair boasts a tiny fold and lightweight chassis there is a sizable shopping basket that holds up to 7kg. For comparison, the Baby Zen YOYO+ only offers a 5kg capacity shopping basket. In addition to this, there is a separate zipped pocket that can hold an extra 1kg, handy for valuables (or snacks).

Despite its lightweight frame, the stroller is definitely sturdy enough to hold a shopping bag or two on the handle with a buggy clip. All this is perfect if you have more than one child’s worth of things, or if you're going on a grocery run!

Is the BabyJogger City Tour compatible with baby car seats ?

If a travel system is a must, you'll have to look elsewhere; the City Tour can't be used with a baby car seat , and the buggy's seat unit can only be used from 6 months. However, for a slightly older baby, we were impressed by what we got at a very reasonable price.

Are there any extras?

The City Tour comes with a bag for transporting the buggy and a SPF 50+ sun canopy, but a rain cover isn't included. The Baby Jogger rain cover costs £19.99, alternatively you can buy an unbranded universal rain cover for £5-£15.

Meet the Baby Jogger City Tour Lux

The Baby Jogger City Tour Lux was released in 2018 as a higher-end version of the original Baby Jogger City Tour stroller. It features a full-suspension chassis for a smoother ride; its smaller wheels make it more maneuverable in tight spaces. We put the Baby Jogger City Tour Lux through its paces to see how it stacks up against the competition.

The City Tour and City Tour Lux are similar stroller models from the same manufacturer. Both strollers have many features in common, including a reversible seat that allows the child to face forward or backward. There are also some key differences between the two models. The City Tour is designed for use on smooth surfaces such as sidewalks and pavement, while the City Tour Lux is built for rougher terrain such as dirt roads and grass.

The City Tour is lighter and more compact, making it easier to maneuver in tight spaces. The City Tour Lux, on the other hand, is tougher and more durable, able to withstand more wear and tear.

What’s to Be Desired with the City Tour Lux?

How’s the seat.

The City Tour Lux has a plush cushioned seat and a multi-position recline that can be nearly flat. It is absolutely to be desired that parents can easily lower or raise the seat by pulling a lever with one hand.

This stroller’s seat can hold little passengers from 3 months up to 45 lbs.

The seat may be adjusted so that the child can face either their parents or the outside world. A 5-point restraint with cushioning is also present.

Is it compact and easy to store?

This stroller is very small and doesn’t take a lot of space in any vehicle trunk, a feature which many parents must consider before buying a stroller. When folded, this stroller is very small and doesn’t take up much room. The Baby Jogger City Tour Lux’s folded measurements are 24” x 21” x 11”.

The Not-So-Favorite Features

With a flip-out sun visor, this stroller boasts a fantastic, enormous 3-panel canopy. The canopy provides excellent sun protection in addition to being large, providing the baby plenty of area to grow. It offers wind and UV protection for the infant. Compared to the original City Tour stroller’s canopy, it is larger. Unfortunately, many parents are not a fan of it; they have reported some issues like it is difficult to fold or it doesn’t stay in place while using the stroller.

Parent Tip!        

The canopy’s lack of stability has been a source of complaints from several consumers. To lock it in place, you must pull the cover downward until you hear a click. It might need to be pulled a little firmly.

The folding mechanism

Folding the Tour Lux only requires one hand and just takes a few seconds. It employs one of the simplest stroller folds – it’s all because of the innovative folding mechanism. On the other hand, many parents still complain about the way it folds and unfolds; it requires time and practice.

The handbrake

The City Tour Lux’s handbrake is situated on the right side of the handlebar, an uncommon position for stroller handbrakes.

Some parents find it difficult to use, especially when it gets stuck. It needs to be pushed in before raising the lever to stop the stroller from moving.

Accessorize Your Baby Jogger City Tour Lux

There aren’t many accessories available for Baby Jogger’s new City Tour Lux. The carry bag is the only accessory that comes with this stroller. Some items like the carrycot, cup holder, bumper bar set, and glider board are available on Amazon. Third-party parent consoles and other attachments can also be bought from online marketplaces.

Is the City Tour Lux Highly Recommended?

Though it says on Baby Jogger website that this particular model is discontinued by the company, you can still get this stroller from Amazon and other online stores.

There are five different seating positions on this stroller, so it may serve as your sole stroller from infancy through toddlerhood (with additional attachments). There is also a decent storage basket. The City Tour Lux is very light and portable for such a small, convertible, and multi-purpose stroller.

For parents with small homes or vehicles, this stroller can be folded up quite small. However, folding and unfolding the City Tour Lux is quite challenging, as many parents have mentioned in our survey.

Prices for the City Tour Lux start at $149.00 on Amazon. If you are on a tight budget, you may consider buying this stroller because of its overall functionality and expandability (e.g. by adding a glider board). However, if you are looking for something that is durable and more user-friendly, this might not be the stroller for you as many parents in our survey are not so happy with the way it performed in these aspects.

City Tour vs. City Tour Lux

If you have heard of the baby jogger brand, then you probably about the city select and city select lux strollers. but, did you know that they make smaller strollers that are much more travel friendly well...they do, and they are amazing.

Both the City Tour and the City Tour Lux are designed to be the ultimate travel stroller, while still having features and maneuverability that keep your adventuring smooth sailing. The Tour Lux is not on the market yet, but will be in the Spring of 2018. So, if you will be in the market for a travel-friendly stroller within this next year, you have both options! Let's do a bit of a comparison, shall we?

Type, Weight, and Size

The City Tour is a fixed seat stroller, and the Tour Lux is a modular stroller. Modular means that the seat can be removed and turned forwards, or backwards. Now about weight; Tour Lux weighs in at 19 lbs while the Tour only weighs 14.2 lbs. 

In addition to weighing less, the Tour is overall a more compact stroller when folded and unfolded. Are you looking for the lightest and most compact, or a little bigger with a few more features? Think about it as we go on!

Age and Weight Limits

You can start using City Tour at 6 months, up to 45 lbs. The Tour Lux is suitable for 3 months up to 45 lbs, and is also compatible with car seat adapters. That means you can use your car seat in your frame for children younger than 3 months old. For some, the simplicity of the stroller is ruined by adapters and seat changes, and for others those things are more appealing. What would you prefer?

Comfort Features

The Tour Lux has all of the features that the classic Tour has, as well as a few upgrades that make the ride even sweeter. What are the differences? With the Tour Lux you get a larger canopy, adjustable foot rest, larger seat, and more padding in the seat.

Both seats have a full recline, but getting the seats reclined is different on both strollers. To recline the seat on the Tour you simply pinch together a clasp and pull the seat down to recline. Reclining the Tour Lux is done by pushing in a button. So, this might not be considered a comfort feature for the baby, but a good storage basket is definitely a comfort feature for mom and dad!

Both of these strollers have a functional storage basket underneath the seat. The Tour Lux basket is slightly larger, but both are a good enough size to put items in that you don't want falling out of, or off, the stroller as you are on the go. Anything to help you feel less like a pack mule, right?!

Safety and Accessories

Of course every stroller needs to have a brake, especially when you are traveling. You don't want to ruin a vacation with a getaway stroller! You will find a standard foot brake on the Tour and a hand brake on the Tour Lux.  Both strollers come standard with a backpack-style travel bag.

The fact that the strollers fit into a backpack, and you can use your arms for something else, is amazing! It took me one airport visit to realize the beauty of a stroller that can easily disappear and not be just another thing your hands need to keep track of.

The Tour Lux has additional compatible accessories as well; a cup holder for mom and dad, belly bar, detachable bassinet, and car seat adapters as I mentioned earlier. Compatible car seats for this stroller are Baby Jogger, Britax, Cybex, Graco, and Maxi-Cosi.

If you are going to be traveling by air with an infant, and are planning on purchasing a ticket to secure their car seat into on the plane, this is a game changer. Baby can travel with much less disturbance, and hopefully just sleep whenever they need to!

A quick fold might just be the deal-sealing feature for me. Both Tour models fold quickly and easily! Two easy steps for the Tour and three easy steps for the Tour Lux. The Tour Lux will stand when folded and has a shoulder strap, but remember that both of them pop perfectly into their travel backpacks too!

Are you convinced yet?! Let me tell you that my first thought about travel strollers was "unnecessary" especially if you have a nice stroller that accommodates all your needs. Then, I took my stroller through the airport. HOLY TOLEDO. I wanted to pull my hair out so many times because you are expected to just whip that thing open and shut and have it plane ready in the blink of any eye multiple times in your journey. No, thank you!!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend the City Tour by Baby Jogger to fellow mums if they are travelling abroad as it is very light and compact. The hood has an SPF factor of 50, which is great for hot weather. That said, it would also be a good pushchair for families living in London and using the tube, as it is very easy to collapse and put into the rucksack carrier. I really liked how easy it was to collapse the City Tour – I could get it down and into my boot in 30 seconds!

How has this product made your life easier?

The City Tour by Baby Jogger makes my life easier as a mum as it is a very compact stroller. It was great to take on a train journey as it folds small enough to put in the overhead storage compartment. Also, the carry bag would make it easy to taking the pushchair on holiday as hand luggage. It is extremely lightweight whilst still being fairly sturdy.

Would you choose this product to win?

I wouldn't choose the City Tour by Baby Jogger over the other products in this category because there are a few key things I would want in a pram that the City Tour does not have, such as, the size of the basket underneath the seat is only able to hold the rain cover and not much more. Also, the wheels do not feel very sturdy. I think the Baby Jogger City Tour is perfect as a holiday pram, or a pushchair that is left at Grandparents, but I would not want to use it every day.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would change the size of the basket underneath the main seat of the stroller, as it does not hold much more than the rain cover which is not ideal if you are shopping. The general feel of the City Tour is very lightweight and flimsy, and sadly, it doesn't feel like it would cope with everyday use with a baby or toddler.

The City Tour makes my life so much easier as I'm disabled, so the lightweight, easy push and fold made my life pain and hassle free. Whilst testing the pushchair, I no longer struggled to lift the pram up curbs, or lift it into my car. Yes, I would – it’s an extremely lightweight buggy, perfect for days out. It's fantastic on public transport as you can store it under your seat. It has a mesh pocket behind the seat and a handy zip pocket on the basket under the seat which is great, although the basket is very small. That said, the handle bar isn't adjustable, so I wouldn't recommend the City Tour to tall parents and I feel the seat is very low down.

When I first saw the City Tour folded up in the bag I thought 'wow! There's no way a buggy can fit inside that rucksack' (which is an excellent idea for the airport). It's super light for a buggy and folds very easily, making it so much quicker to get in and out of your car and with no effort at all. Being compact it doesn't take up much room in the boot of your car, so you have loads of extra room for shopping – I no longer need to empty my car before going to the supermarket!

Over all, this is a fantastic buggy – it’s the lightest pushchair I've seen on the market and as your child gets heavier and spends more time climbing in and out of it, this is perfect. You don't want to be carrying a heavy toddler and buggy around with you, so this helps ease the everyday stress on your back! It is pricey for a buggy, but it still gets my vote!

To help improve this product, I'd like to see the seat moved a little higher up, giving more space for child growth. In addition, I think the handle bar would benefit from being a little higher too.

I would definitely recommend the Baby Jogger City Tour to other parents – if you’re looking for something compact and lightweight, this is the pushchair for you! It is absolutely ideal for public transport and travelling. The Baby Jogger City Tour is lightweight and easy to manoeuvre whilst still being sturdy, and the basket underneath is a good feature as it has meshed compartments suitable for storing drinks.

The Baby Jogger City Tour is really quick and easy to put up and down, and this can be done with one hand in seconds. It is lightweight so makes transporting it easy and being in a bag when folded down ensures it fits easily into the smallest of car boots. My little girl is nearly two and often gets tired walking to the local park, so this pushchair is great to take along as it is easy to manoeuvre one handed. I liked the recline on the chair as it could be altered to wherever you required it and wasn't on a fixed axis of three or four positions like a lot of other pushchairs.

We often go away in our caravan at weekends and the Baby Jogger City Tour is ideal for taking with us, as it easily fits in an already cramped car and takes up much less room than any other pushchair I've seen. It is lightweight and easy to push, but also feels sturdy and for a small pushchair it has a basket underneath with meshed compartments big enough to carry drinks and a small changing bag.

I didn't get to try the City Tour in bad weather, so I am unable to reliably test the rain cover but I felt that the cover that attached to the rear of the chair could flap around if it was particularly windy. Also, at 5 ft 8, I found the handle was quite low, so if it had an option to extend this it would definitely make it more comfortable to push for taller parents.

The Baby Jogger City Tour was really handy for being out and about. The stroller is very lightweight and is extremely compact when folded, making it very easy to transport. It was very easy to fold and put up and I had no issues getting it on and off the train whilst on my own with a toddler. It was small enough to keep by my feet which made it very easy to travel with. The stroller looks stylish and is very easy to manoeuvre – my little girl is a pretty average weight 22-month-old and on the tall side for her age, but seemed happy and comfortable in it the whole time, however it did seem like she might outgrow it before too long and I did struggle to fit the rain cover over her feet.

If you travel around a lot and need a pushchair that is easy to transport, the Baby Jogger City Tour is a very good choice. As well as being very compact and easy to fold, it seems extremely sturdy considering how lightweight it is. It also has a very decent size hood with SPF 50+ material and a window to see through to the child, meaning it is suitable for being out and about in different weather conditions. I found this very pleasing, as the hoods are often disappointing on strollers.

The stand out feature of the Baby Jogger City Tour is definitely how compact it is when folded and I loved how easy it is to transport around. It will easily fit in the boot of any car and has a bag that makes it possible to carry the pushchair on your back. That said, it does come with quite a hefty price tag, which is more than I would personally spend on a stroller, especially as it is not suitable from birth meaning it would be a second pushchair. I wouldn’t buy it purely for this reason, but I would definitely recommend it to anyone willing to pay the price.

I would have found it useful if the shopping basket was slightly bigger on this pushchair as I struggled to fit much in it. I know this is often the case with compact strollers, but this being slightly bigger would have made things much easier, as toddlers often come with lots of necessary baggage!

I'd recommend this pushchair as it was so lightweight and easy to push. It was very easy to get in and out of the car and up and down kerbs. It feels well-made and it folds down so small that you could take it anywhere, even on holiday.

I found this product incredibly easy to push and steer in all the different places I tried it. I could push it using one hand and it made shopping much easier, as I could push my baby and hold a basket at the same time. It's a very versatile pushchair and was a very smooth ride for my little one – she felt more comfortable in it, which meant she was more patient and less fidgety, which meant I could get more done.

I would definitely choose this pushchair over others I have tried in the past – the fold is smaller, it's lighter and it's not too low to the ground. I also thought it seemed sturdier than other lightweight pushchairs I've tried and I love the fact it's so transportable. I think this product should win a Mother & Baby award as it has more features than most lightweight pushchairs and it is more versatile.

The only thing I would change about the City Tour is how it folds – it took time getting the knack without feeling like I was going to trap my fingers! I'd like it to have a more straightforward fold or unfold action. I loved everything but this!

Then it goes across the Red Square at the Lenin Mausoleum, the luxury department store GUM and with a view of the Kremlin towards the historical museum. Of course, you will also learn more about the stories that once happened behind the thick walls of the Kremlin – from the Tsars and Napoleon to Stalin. Then we continue through the idyllic Alexander Garden.

«First acquaintance with Moscow» – a 2.5-hour city tour in the center of Moscow

This Moscow city tour starts on the Theater Square, past Lubyanka Square and the KGB-building, then through Kitay Gorod district and Varvarka Street, past the world-famous St. Basil’s Cathedral. Then it goes across Zarjadje Park, over Red Square at the Lenin Mausoleum, the GUM-department store and towards the Historical Museum. We walk through the Alexander Garden.

A 3.5-hour car/bus tour of Moscow.

This is the best tour of Moscow city as all the important sights are visited. I am your Moscow city guide who will walk you through the city explaining the charming history of the city. This tour begins with picking you up from the hotel. 3 breaks are offered for photographing.

First, we will visit the most famous riverside streets and bridges in the center of the city with the most beautiful views of the Kremlin and the Moskva River (e.g. the Kremlin embankment and the Great Stone Bridge).

The first photo break is made at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. We then pass by the district with numerous museums, Prechistinka Street and the district with numerous medical areas.

We again stop at the Novodevichy Convent, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the other bank of the Moskva River to click pictures.

Then we visit “Sparrow Hills” where you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the city of Moscow from the observation deck. Then there are the skyscrapers of Moscow-City, the Kutuzov avenue, the New Arbat, Tverskaya Street, the world-famous Bolshoi Theater, the KGB building and Varvarka Street. Here there are ample spots to click pictures.

We then drive past the Kremlin again and finally reach Red Square. We take a short tour of Red Square and say goodbye in the Alexander Garden.

Metro tour – daily

Tour of Communist Moscow – every day

After the Communist October Revolution in 1918, Moscow became the capital of the Soviet Empire and was the center of socialist orbit for more than 70 years. This left its mark on Moscow, even if the USSR disintegrated more than a quarter of a century ago. The city streets are full of remnants of the communist regime and the Cold War. This is a walking tour where I will show you the most exciting places in Soviet Moscow: from the notorious KGB headquarters, also known as Lubyanka to the Karl Marx Monument to small hidden remains from the time of hammer and sickle. You will also learn about Stalin’s Great Terror political campaign and the system of the GULAG and how the USSR, the communist Russian republic, became modern Russia.

Alternative Moscow Tour – daily

With its 20 towers and high walls, the Kremlin rises imposingly over Red Square. This world-famous fortress with its area of ​​28 hectares is home to over 800 years of Russian history. Described as the eighth wonder of the world, this historic fortress complex is the principal symbol of Russia that sits on the banks of the Moscow River. Today the Kremlin still harbors numerous secrets and has palaces and cathedrals, surrounded by Kremlin Wall. The current wall was constructed between the 15 th  and 16 th  centuries, but the original wall was made of wood around the year 1147. The Kremlin Wall became an important symbol of Moscow’s importance in the Russian Empire. Taking a boat tour in Moscow on the Moskva River is a very pleasant experience. It allows you to know the city from a totally different perspective and admire the beautiful bridges. A military tour – riding on tanks in Stupino (Moscow region)

Russian Military is one of the largest military forces in the world formed in 1992. With my Military Tour experience what it likes to be in the Russian military, shooting guns, ride the Tank T-34 and various models of German tanks from the Second World War, as well as armored personnel carriers and vehicles. You will also shoot from the AK-47 and another combat weapon.

The tour will begin with your private tour guide Moscow in a Soviet army van accompanied with some tasty snacks and tea for a tasty start. Upon arriving, you will have to put on the army safety clothing and climb the Russian armored vehicles. The tour will take you on the noisy, smoky tank, driving through mud roads. Day 1 Panoramic city tour

Welcome to the glorious capital of Russia, Moscow! You’ll be met by your driver at the airport and taken to your centrally located hotel.

After check-in and rest, meet your private guide at the hotel lobby for a comprehensive tour of Moscow by car. Visit the starkly contrasting Theatre Square to see the stunning Bolshoi Theatre, pass Tverskaya Street, the city’s main boulevard and home to the landmark Yeleseyevskiy Grocery Store.

You’ll enjoy a panoramic drive along the Moskva River, where a huge, controversial state of Peter the Great was erected. Pass by the legendary Gorky Park and the White House before a stop at the architecturally stunning Novodevichy Convent, and the observation platform at Sparrow Hills, for a bird’s eye view over this staggering megalopolis.

Day 2 Red Square and Kremlin

After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will take you on a walking tour of the historical city centre. Stroll through the Red Square, the hub of cultural life in Moscow, with its elaborate ‘stone flower’ fountain and fantasy-like St Basil’s Cathedral – a postcard-perfect symbol of the nation. Admire the grandiose façade of GUM, the city’s most luxurious shopping centre, and visit Alexander’s Garden, with its eternal flame and the chance to watch a changing of the guards.

Break for lunch before continuing on a tour of the Kremlin and Armoury Chamber, famous of its collection of tsarist fashion, with regalia such as jewel-encrusted crowns, orbs and sceptres as well as arms and armour, exotic gifts from the leaders of faraway lands, and an illustrious case of Imperial Faberge eggs.

Day 3 Metro and Arbat Street

Start a day with a tour of Metro, stopping on the way to marvel at some of the most elaborately decorated stations of the world-famous Moscow subway system. Take a stroll along Old Arbat street - the most famous street in Moscow. Through the centuries Arbat used to be one of the most bohemian places in Moscow. Today Arbat is a promenade full of small cozy cafes and street life.

The afternoon is free for you to either enjoy the rest of the day on your own or choose among optional excursions to explore more of Moscow. Visit the Tretyakov Gallery or Pushkin State Museum to admire Russian art. Join locals for a stroll at the Gorky or VDNH park.

Visit beautiful Kolomeskoye Estate or Izmailovo Kremlin, or spend a day exploring the beautiful city of the Golden Ring (Russian province) - Sergiev Posad. In the evening you will be transferred to the airport for your departure to your next destination.

Red square:.

Russia and Moscow are synonymous with Red Square and the Kremlin and that's hardly surprising as you'll find these places absolutely stunning!

• - Walk-through the Resurrection Gate and don’t forget to flip a coin so you’ll be sure to come back one day!
• - Visit the world's famous Kazan Cathedral .
• - See the State Department Store (GUM), once the Upper Trading Stalls, which were built over a century ago and still operating!
• - Admire the lovely St. Basil's Cathedral! The French diplomat Marquis de Custine commented that it combined "the scales of a golden fish, the enamelled skin of a serpent, the changeful hues of the lizard, the glossy rose and azure of the pigeon's neck" and wondered at "the men who go to worship God in this box of confectionery work".
• - Walk by Lobnoye Mesto (literally meaning "Execution Place", or "Place of Skulls"), once Ivan the Terrible's stage for religious ceremonies, speeches, and important events.
• - Entering the Alexander Garden , you’ll take in spectacular views of Russian architecture from ancient to Soviet times, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with an eternal flame. Watch Changing of the Guard Ceremony every hour in summer and every half an hour in winter.

Kitai-gorod:

Stroll along medieval Kitai-gorod with its strong ancient Russia feel, known for its bohemian lifestyle, markets and arts.

• - Nikolskaya Street. Here you will find the Russia's first publishing house, the second oldest monastery, and Ferryn Pharmacy, known as the number one pharmacy back in Soviet times and famous for its Empire-style architecture.
• - Ilinka Street. The financial street of the Kitaigorod (China Town) district, where you’ll find the Gostiny Dvor (Merchant’s Yard), which is now a showroom for Ferraris and Maseratis. The street was designed in the 1790s by Catherine the Great.
• - Varvarka street. The oldest street in Moscow, which dates back to the 14th century, and still has remnants of early Muscovite architecture, such as the Old English Court and the Palace of the Romanov’s.
• - Kamergersky Lane. Only a small road of about 250 meters, it is home to some of the oldest artifacts of the city, as each building holds a fascinating story. Some of Russia's most famous writers, poets, and composers from as far back as the Golden Age of Russian culture, have lived or worked on this lane.

Historic City Center

Walk the historical old center of Moscow with its cool local vibe, including the main Tverskaya street , and indulge in desserts in the first grocery “Eliseev's store” , housed in an 18th century neoclassical building, famous for its baroque interior and decoration.

From our tour. Impressions of our American tourist:

At 3:30, as energy flagged, lunch was on the agenda at a Ukrainian restaurant.  Just in time!  We asked our guide to order for us.  We all had the same thing....borscht (the Ukrainian version has beans and more tomatoes than the Russian version, which has more beets and includes beef). 

The special high bread served is called galushki.  Our main course was golubtsy...a dish of minced meat rolled in braised cabbage leaves.  Both dishes called for optional sour cream as a topping....of course, yes, please....I recommend it. 

Full, satisfied, and completely refreshed, it was off to Red Square and St. Basil's and GUM department store.  Red Square is not so named because of the color of the brick walls of the Kremlin.  Rather the word for 'red' and the word for 'beautiful' are similar in pronunciation....and, there you have it. 

As we made the turn by the National Museum in front of which is the mounted sculpture of the "Marshall of Victory," Giorgy Zhukov from WWII and caught our first view of St. Basil's, my friend and I simultaneously emitted "Oooohhhhh!"  There it was....the iconic onion domes of St. Basil's!  Hooray....it was open until 7....we had about 30 minutes and were allowed in, AND we could take photos with no flash. 

Now, I can give you a taste of what we saw in the other cathedrals in Cathedral Square.  What we learned is that St. Vasily and St. Basil are one in the same....Russian/English.  He was a common man who wandered Moscow unclothed and barefoot.  But, all, even Ivan the Terrible, heeded his opinions derived from his visions.  Ivan had this cathedral built over his tomb. 

As we exited and took photos up close of the onion domes, Inna presented us with chocolate (how did she know we were ready for another energy boost, and we each got a big piece of chocolate.  The baby's name pictured on the wrapper of this famous Russian chocolate is Alyonka....the Russian Gerber baby, don't you think? 

One could wear out the credit card in GUM's (capitalized because it is actually a government abbreviation), but the 'kitty' and my credit card stayed in my pocket as we strolled through the glass-topped arcade. 

We then strolled through some of Moscow's lovely pedestrian streets; paused to listen as a wonderful quartet performed Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" in an underground passage to cross the busy street (hooray!....we DID have our 'classical concert' experience after all; a request Alina tried in vain to fill because none was scheduled those days), saw the Bolshoi, which means 'big' (my friend has yet to recover that their performance schedule did not coincide with our cruise), saw the Central Telegraph Building, dating from the 1930's, and made our way to the Ritz-Carlton to see the night view of Moscow from the rooftop bar, called O2. 

There were fleece blankets to wrap yourself in....yes, it got that cold when the sun set.  We each ordered something hot to drink...the ginger, mint, lemon tea served to me in a parfait glass (for 600 rubles...about $9....you pay for the view here!) was delightful and hit the spot perfectly.  It was time to call it a night....
