How to Throw a Bon Voyage Party

We’ve had some incredible interns pass through the doors of team Camille Styles through the years, and saying goodbye at the end of their school year is always bittersweet. Although we’re sad to see them go, it’s exciting to think about the bright future that lies ahead of these talented ladies. In that spirit, we threw a goodbye and good luck party for our current rockstar intern Suruchi, who heads to Minneapolis next month for an amazing career opportunity. She’s been my righthand woman in the kitchen and on the blog these last few months, and I’ll miss her dearly, though thankfully she’s promised to continue contributing to the blog from afar. For her Bon Voyage-themed fête, we teamed up with Target to design an easy breezy appetizer buffet with a nautical vibe. It’s the perfect look for any springtime get-together, and we’re sharing tons of tips in the following slides for keeping things super easy on the host so you can have fun right alongside your guests. As they say, parting is such sweet sorrow…

Do you have a friend or family member who is leaving on an adventure? If so, you can throw together a Bon Voyage/ Globe themed party in 20 minutes!

Yes, that's right! Besides the food preparation, you can create a fun set up in under a half hour.  There may be a time when you want to create a really elaborate party, but sometimes less is more.

A few festive touches can make a normal dinner extraordinary.

Whether you’re hosting a farewell party for yourself or throwing one for a friend, family member, or coworker, here are some farewell party ideas at different price ranges to help you get started. For many, food is one of the main factors that defines a place and characterizes home. As one last hurrah, invite close friends and family on a food tour through the city that takes the group to some of the best diners, restaurants, and eateries. 

• Stop by the favorites of the person going away, but sprinkle in some new, “always wanted to try it” spots.
• Plan the tour around different courses—start with a spot that has good appetizers or small plates before moving to a restaurant with delicious main courses. 
• Work in some breaks between restaurants to see some sights, take in the architecture, and otherwise enjoy the city while digesting.
