3 Days in Chengdu, China – The Perfect Itinerary

Picture of Alesha and Jarryd

  • Last Updated: February 5, 2024

All of the best things to do if you only have 3 days in Chengdu, China in our perfect itinerary.

Table of Contents

Day 1 – Research Base Of Giant Panda Breeding

Day 2 – walk around chengdu city, day 3 – leshan and the grand buddha, save this pin for later.

Ah Chengdu – now this was a place that really surprised us. After our incredible overland journey from Shangri La through the Tibetan Kham province , we really weren’t looking forward to getting to a big city.

We had visions of crazy traffic, heavy pollution and relentless crowds. Instead we found Chengdu to be a relaxed destination with a hip and fun vibe. It was quite clean (by Chinese standards) and not too bad to get around.

READ MORE: Here’s everything you need to know about  travelling in China .

3 Days in Chengdu – The Perfect Itinerary

We spent three days in Chengdu and honestly, we would have happily spent an extra few days hanging out. But if like us you are on a tight schedule when you are in the city, here are some of the best things to do with only three days in Chengdu!

It would almost be criminal to come all the way to Chengdu and not see those black and white bundles of cuteness. Indeed, the panda bears usually are the main reason people visit this modern city in Central China.

Even if you aren’t the type of person to buckle at the knees at adorable, cuddly creatures, you still need to go visit the pandas. Even if you hate zoos, you still need to go. No arguing.

We suggest waking up early and aiming to be at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding for when it opens at 8am. Not only will you beat the majority of the crowds, but also this is when they feed the pandas.

During the day they tend to sit around and scratch themselves, those damn cute bastards, but when it is feeding time they are full of energy. We arrived just as the gates open and sprinted to the enclosures like crazed Justin Bieber fans (don’t laugh, you will too).

Our timing was perfect, as the pandas spent the next hour munching on bamboo, wrestling with each other and climbing trees (then falling off of them).

We had managed to visit a good part of the centre before the stampede of camera happy domestic tourists showed up, so it almost felt like we had the pandas all to ourselves.

We stayed at the centre until about 2pm, watching the bears drift off to sleep and then checking out some of the documentary movies and the museum that is also included in your entry price. After that we (reluctantly) jumped on a bus and headed back into Chengdu for some spicy Sichuan food and cold beer. A nice solid day out.

Panda Breeding Research Centre Best Things To Do With Three Days In Chengdu

For a city of 14 million people, Chengdu is surprisingly civilised, organised and clean. Normally we shy away from cities, but walking around Chengdu turned out to be a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

From wherever you are staying, make your way to visit Chairman Mao’s Statue as he keeps watch over the adjoined square. Take the obligatory selfies with Uncle Mao, and then move onto the massive People’s Park.

You can easily spend a couple of hours wandering around the People’s Park, watching the locals practice Tai Chi and harmoniously serenade each other with ear-splitting renditions of top 40 Chinese love songs.

Don’t worry – If you think you hear a pack of spider monkeys being slaughtered with circular saws, it is just Chinese karaoke. There are plenty of tea houses scattered throughout the park as well, so pull up a chair, order a pot of your favourite jasmine-scented hibiscus tea and do as the locals do – talk very loudly.

When you have finished with the People’s Park, there are quite a few temples to enjoy. The Qingyang Temple is next to a lovely Park and is worth a portion of your time. Actually, the park itself also deserves at least a wander through, so do that as well while you are in the neighbourhood.

The Wenshu Temple was one of the top Chengdu attractions and we spent quite a while savouring the quiet corners of the grounds. The cost is supposedly 5RMB, but no one ever stopped us to pay.

Chengdu is also known for its cuisine, so don’t forget to taste some of the local delicacies .

Wenshu Temple Best Things To Do With Three Days In Chengdu

On day 3 head to the Xinnanmen bus station and on to Leshan, home to the world’s largest stone Buddha. It will take about 2 hours to get to Leshan, depending on traffic, so leave early.

Once you get there jump on bus number 13 and take it right to the gate of the Grand Buddha (this will take 30 minutes at least).

The grounds for the Grand Buddha are massive and quite beautiful to walk around, even with the thousands of flag-following tourists stumbling in front of all of your photos.

What you are definitely going to want to do is walk down the steps to the Grand Buddha’s feet so you can stare up at the 71 metre tall peaceful sculpture.

Unless you are like us and timed your trip on a Sunday and there is a 3 hour wait to get to the bottom. In that case, you might decide standing in line for three hours sounds horrible and you will skip it. Shame.

You can easily spend at least half a day wandering around to the little pagodas. Don’t miss the temple over the bridge, with its hundreds of slightly spooky looking statues.

You can take a boat trip along the river to get a great view of the Buddha from the water, but we skipped this. Another thing we have heard is you can take a bus and walk to the shores across from the Giant Buddha and enjoy the view for free. Worth doing if you have the time.

Once you’ve ticked off this Chengdu must see attraction in Leshan, time to head back to Chengdu for some more spicy food and cold beer! The last bus leaves about 8.30pm, but this could change. Check when you get off the bus to avoid being stranded.

Note – We actually really liked the look and feel of Leshan, and if we our visas weren’t about to expire, we would have happily stayed in Leshan for a night or two. Perhaps consider this when making your plans for Chengdu and the surrounding areas. Add in a climb of Mount Emei, which is also meant to be awesome.

The Giant Buddha on the river side of Leshan is indeed impressive.

But you didn’t try the hot pot in Chengdu? That’s something you shouldn’t miss, and won’t forget if you did try. Also I would suggest to order a Chengdu-snacks package (in Long Chao Shou Restaurant on Chun-Xi Road).

A great many to see and to do in the city and in the nearby area…

I’m going back to Chengdu for a 2nd time in October.. I did visit Leshan and the Panda Center when I went, but missed people’s park so I’ll have to hit it up this time. I, like you, am not generally a fan of cities, but I did enjoy Chengdu quite a bit. And funnily ( yes, that’s a word! just because) enough, I stayed at Lazybones hostel which is a trio with Mix hostel and Flip Flop, lol. Absolutely loved it and I think it really made my time in chengdu as awesome as it was. I might try Flip flop or Mix this time around though. 🙂

You’re right- Leshan is an awesome small city that deserves an extra day. The street food in the park near the university is killer! I ate far too much there…Great post on Chengdu!

The pandas were the highlight of China for us. They’re just the most amazing thing on Earth.

For people heading to Mount Emei – which we didn’t end up hiking because of the thick cold mist – they should stay at Baoguo Temple. You sleep among the monks, get to be inside the temple when the mist settles in after dark, eat the simple vegan meal with the temple’s inhabitants, and be woken up early by chanting.

They also have WiFi :).

Thanks for the awesome tips about Mount Emei, Jane! I wish we had more time for Leshan now to stay up at that temple.

I also visited the Breeding Centre a number of years ago and every now and then I watch the Panda Live Cam, there is a couple links you can get. Nothing more relaxing than sitting down in the evening and watching the Panda’s

Live cam to the pandas? I wish you hadn’t told us that Louise, haha! I can imagine Lesh spending hours watching them eat bamboo and falling out of trees.

You forgot all about the Chnegdu tea houses 🙂 They were so chilled out, we stayed for hours people watching the locals playing checkers, hanging out, and getting their socializing on! Chengdu was one of our favorites in China 🙂

Of course! Thanks for reminding us about the tea houses, Jenia 🙂

How to Spend 3 Days in Chengdu: the Perfect Itinerary

How many days makes for a great Chengdu itinerary? How many full days until you understand its people, culture, and fun places? Well, anything from 3days will be a good starting point.

For the purposes of this itinerary, we will assume that you arrived in Chengduon the previous day and that your first day will start right from the moment you wake up.

Now let's discover the experiences you can enjoy when you spend 3 days in Chengdu.

Day 1: City Highlights

Start your day with a visit to see the adorable giant pandas at Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding or Chengdu Panda Base for short.

We'd recommend going early in the day to beat the crowds. Otherwise, you have to squeeze through the crowds in order to get a glimpse of the pandas.

Our guides are experienced in finding ways to avoid the busy crowds and match the pandas' active period as much as possible for you. They know when the pandas will be eating and playing.

Take our private tour and have a morning date with active pandas .

Recommended tours :

  • 1-Day Dujiangyan Panda Keeper Program Tour
  • 1-Day Chengdu Panda and Sichuan Cuisine Tour
  • 4-Day Wolong In-Depth Panda Tour

Take a city highlights tour to experience the locals'lifestyle in People's Park and have a leisurely walk along Jinli Ancient Street where you can try various local snacks.

The park isn't just a park when you travel with a local guide . Your experience will be enriched as you sip a cup of tea in a 100-year-old teahouse and explore " Matchmaking Corner ".

Take our tour " Chengdu Beyond the Pandas " and travel like a Chengdunese.

Day 2: the Leshan Giant Buddha

Head out of Chengdu on a day trip to see the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Leshan Giant Buddha .

It can be reached by traveling on a train and then a bus. A private tour with a private car and driver would make your journey smoother and more efficient.

Most tours give you a chance to climb up the steps next to the Buddha and then walk down the narrow plank to the Buddha's feet.

Our tours also include a boat ride on the river beside the Buddha, which allows you to enjoy a different panoramic view and have a relaxing time.

Don't you think it is a shame to only see the Leshan Giant Buddha during this day trip?

Unlike other travel agencies, we will also take you to visit a laid-back old town , located about 40 minutes away from the Buddha. You will visit traditional workshops and chat with local people.

Our 3-day private tour leads you to decode the lost legends of the largest sitting buddha.

  • 3-Day Giant Panda, Giant Buddha, and Ancient Town Tour
  • 5-Day Chengdu, Leshan and Mount. Emei Tour

Contact us for a private tour of Leshan and Mount Emei.

Day 3: Departure or Enjoy a Food Tour

The above two days have covered the must-see attractions in Chengdu. You can have a good rest or do some shopping before your departure flight.

If you have more time, you can spend some time enjoying a leisurely food tour .

Take a guided tour to Sichuan Cuisine Museum where you will taste various Sichuan snacks, learn about Sichuan cuisine's history, and learn to cook some typical Sichuan dishes.

If you fancy a more authentic experience, our local guide can lead you to discover the city's last farmers' market and then you will visit a local chef's home where you will cook real Sichuan dishes with the chef.

Discover Chengdu with a Local Expert

The above itinerary is just right for first-time visitors. Here is our sample itinerary of 3-Day Chengdu tour: 3-Day Giant Panda and Giant Buddha Tour .

It Just Got Easier for Americans to Visit China—Here's What to Know

By Matt Ortile

Image may contain Architecture Building Housing and House

I was recently applying for a new passport, dreaming of all the new stamps and visas I’d collect, when I wondered: “Can Americans travel to China?” As it turns out, some recent policy changes out of Beijing have made it easier than ever to marvel at the Great Wall of China , take in the cosmopolitan bustle of Shanghai , and devour spicy Sichuan -style dishes at the source.

As of January 1, 2024, US travelers applying for tourist visas to China are no longer required to present proof of roundtrip tickets for travel, hotel reservations, or specific itineraries. The development came after a declaration in December by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United States that states both countries mutually agreed to simplify the visa process in an effort to “facilitate people-to-people exchanges between China and the United States.”

To learn more about how US passport holders can travel to China, I reached out to travel specialists with deep expertise in tourism in China and Asia more broadly: Mei Zhang, the founder of WildChina and a member of Condé Nast Traveler ’s Global Advisory Board ; and Catherine Heald, co-founder and CEO of Remote Lands , a luxury travel advisor specializing in destinations throughout Asia.

Here’s what you need to know about traveling to China with a US passport in 2024.

Can Americans travel to China?

Yes, Americans can travel to China for tourism purposes. The country previously upheld travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, from early 2020 to March 2023. At the time, a quarantine period was required of anyone who entered the country; additionally, Zhang of WildChina explains, flights between the United States and China were extremely limited, and so tickets were prohibitively expensive .

Interest in travel to China has increased in recent months, says Heald of Remote Lands, thanks to the new visa application rules that have come into effect in 2024: “Even when the country opened, obtaining a visa was somewhat difficult, so it did not really see an influx of travelers from the US until this year.”

What kind of visa do I need to visit China?

US passport holders need a visa to visit China, obtained in advance of travel, i.e. there is no “visa on arrival” option. Tourist visas valid for ten years and good for multi-entry use must be acquired though a Chinese embassy or consulate, or a visa service. Currently, for US citizens, the cost for a tourist visa for travel to China is $140, whether for single-use or multi-entry use. This is a reduced fee, in effect until December 31, 2024 .

According to the Chinese embassy in the United States, the tourist visa application requirements include: a passport with at least six-months’ validity and two blank pages; a photocopy of the passport’s ID page; a completed application form, filled out online and printed; proof of residence, like a driver’s license or a utility bill; and a completed “ Where You Stay Form ” that attests the applicant is currently applying for a visa from within the US.

Admittedly, the steps are a bit more involved than the path you’d walk (or fly) to countries to which US citizens easily have access, or to destinations that offer visa-on-arrival programs. “When it feels too convoluted to navigate on your own, we recommend using a visa service like CIBT to make it easier,” Zhang says.

If you’re just transiting through China (if you have a 12-hour layover in Shanghai, for example, and want to go into the city before flying to your final stop), you’re in luck: Heald says that in certain Chinese cities, foreign nationals from 54 countries, including the US, are eligible for the 24-, 72-, or 144-hour transit visa-free policies, as long as they stay within certain areas and can present proof of confirmed dates of travel to a third country.

Image may contain City Architecture Building Cityscape Urban Outdoors Nature and Water

For first-timers visiting China, experts suggest an itinerary that includes one, two, or all three of the Chinese metropolitan triumvirate: Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai.

When is the best time to visit China?

Spring and fall are the best times to travel in China, according to Zhang and Heald. “ Summer can be very hot, depending on where you are in China, and also busier than usual, since kids are on summer break and traveling with their families during this time,” Zhang says.

She also recommends to plan travel around the calendar of Chinese national holidays, since travel can be more challenging due to the heightened amount of activity. “The main holidays to avoid are Chinese New Year, the May Day holiday in the first week of May, and Golden Week, which is the first week of October).” It’s a fair point, but if those times are what work for you, don’t let the craze of the crowds stop you. I imagine it would truly be an awesome sight to see, a Chinese city or town celebrating the Lunar New Year .

I’m visiting China for the first time—what city should I visit?

Both Zhang and Heald suggest an itinerary that includes one, two, or all three of the Chinese metropolitan triumvirate: Beijing , Xi’an, and Shanghai. Go for the Forbidden City and the Great Wall in the capital, see the iconic Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an, and head to the Bund for the skyscraper-laden cosmopolitan side of China (where you can stay at the Peninsula Shanghai , an editor-favorite hotel featured on the Condé Nast Traveler Gold List for 2024 ).

If you’re keen to get a little bit of all three—including the Sichuan city of Chengdu—Heald recommends the Classic China tour offered by Remote Lands that highlights some of the country’s most significant historical and cultural sites. (Also: pandas.) Speaking of nature, don’t be afraid to venture out of the cities, if time permits. For getting off the beaten path, Zhang recommends the mountainous province of Yunnan, while Heald mentions that travelers seeking spiritual experiences are going to Tibet (which requires another entry permit).

What else should Americans know before traveling to China?

It’s important to remember that the Great Firewall of China is very real: Websites like Google (including Gmail), YouTube, Facebook, and others are blocked in the country, Heald says, “especially if they touch on sensitive subjects.” She recommends downloading a VPN (virtual private network) to all of your devices before entering China, which allows you to freely use the Internet as usual. “If you do not wish to get a VPN, then plan accordingly and notify any concerned parties that you may be out of touch for a few days,” she says.

Still, China is changing at a rapid pace, Zhang notes. “Some of our recent travelers have described it as stepping into the future .” In the main cities, taxi cars are mostly electric. Sustainability is taking a leading role in development, and high-speed trains connect the entire country, with new rail lines opening regularly. Digital payments have swept every corner of the nation—“everybody from luxury stores to street food carts has a QR code”—and almost no one carries cash or credit cards. Zhang says, “For those who have visited China before, it has changed. And for those who have not visited before, you’re in for something wholly unexpected indeed.”

"A very enjoybale day in Moscow. We had a very nice and knowledgeable guide Anastasia.(Nastia) She was very passionate about the City and we learnt so much in our brief four hours walk with her! Certainly this walking tour added a lot of value to our Moscow Holiday. A great idea to educate visitors about Russia and Moscow. The group was intimate enough to ask questions and stop for snacks etc..we thoriughly enjoyed it and would highly reccomend it.Carry on doing a great job!"

"I really enjoyed the tour, it was a great experience, very informative and fun. I will definitely tell everybody about that tour, keep it it is a fantastic idea!"

"Sorry I do not remember the names :( ... They were very talkative and very into everything. I think they both really love the city, and they made me feel like this to. They knew much about History, which was very informative! Great guides!!!"

"We partook of the fantastic Petersburg Free Tour. Due to our timing during the low season (shockingly not everyone is flocking to Moscow while the average temperature is 15F), it ended up being just us and Sonia, the afore-mentioned super-guide. She quickly ascertained the limited scope of our wanderings.."

Palaces for ordinary people – that was what Stalin promised to the people when the construction of the Moscow Metro began between the World Wars. The communist dictator hadn’t promised too much. No other underground system in the world can boast such spectacular architecture – chandeliers, decorations, stucco, paintings on the walls – each station is individually designed. No wonder that Moscow residents love their metro. I will guide you through the bustle of one of the busiest subways in the world and show you the most beautiful stations Moscow city has.

Time: by arrangement, daily Duration: 2 hours Price: 21 $ Students and children: 17 $ Language: English Included in the price: Metro tickets / the guided tour

Tour of Communist Moscow – every day

After the Communist October Revolution in 1918, Moscow became the capital of the Soviet Empire and was the center of socialist orbit for more than 70 years. This left its mark on Moscow, even if the USSR disintegrated more than a quarter of a century ago. The city streets are full of remnants of the communist regime and the Cold War. This is a walking tour where I will show you the most exciting places in Soviet Moscow: from the notorious KGB headquarters, also known as Lubyanka to the Karl Marx Monument to small hidden remains from the time of hammer and sickle. You will also learn about Stalin’s Great Terror political campaign and the system of the GULAG and how the USSR, the communist Russian republic, became modern Russia.

Time: by arrangement, daily Duration: 2 hours Price: 21 $ Students and children: 17 $ Language: English Included in the price: the guided tour

Alternative Moscow Tour – daily

Explore the unseen Moscow with your Moscow private guide and discover a range of sights during this alternative walking tour.  Away from the main tourist spots (in the central district of Kitay-Gorod), just a short walk from Red Square and St. Basil’s Cathedral, you suddenly find yourself in one of the trendiest districts of Moscow. This place not only has trendy cafes and green squares, but here you can see the most beautiful spray works (according to Albrecht Dürer), hangout-places of the youth and hipsters, as well as learn what Moscow looked like in the 19th century. Here you will also learn exciting and even bloody stories about famous gangsters, eccentric business people and legends like the wandering preacher Rasputin, who is known in Russia either as the “holy devil” or the mad monk. To learn a little more about Moscow’s culture, this is the tour for you. On my alternative tour, you will get to know Moscow away from the tourist hotspots. This tour is of 2 hours duration and you will experience the following on the tour:

  • St. John’s Hill, a quiet oasis right in the center, where time has stopped as it did in pre-Communist times
  • Khokhlovka Art Center, where Russian hipsters and street artists hang out
  • Samoskvorechye District where you can see beautiful streets and hear stories from old Moscow
Time: by arrangement, daily Duration: 2 hours Price: 21 $ Students and children: 17 $ Language: English Included in the price: the guided tour / tram ticket

Kremlin tour – daily (closed on Thursday)

With its 20 towers and high walls, the Kremlin rises imposingly over Red Square. This world-famous fortress with its area of 28 hectares is home to over 800 years of Russian history. Described as the eighth wonder of the world, this historic fortress complex is the principal symbol of Russia that sits on the banks of the Moscow River. Today the Kremlin still harbors numerous secrets and has palaces and cathedrals, surrounded by Kremlin Wall. The current wall was constructed between the 15 th  and 16 th  centuries, but the original wall was made of wood around the year 1147. The Kremlin Wall became an important symbol of Moscow’s importance in the Russian Empire. This top tourist destination attracts millions of people every year and there are various sights to see. With my Kremlin tour, you will see the oldest square in the city in the heart of the Kremlin, the once largest cannon in the world and the scene of numerous dramas – from Ivan the Terrible and Napoleon to Stalin. Preservation Burlington tour visits homes on South Union, South Willard, Howard streets

chengdu free city tour

The Preservation Burlington homes tour returns in June, providing the curious a chance to get a sneak peek into sites of architectural and historic significance in the city.

This year’s properties range from a mansion on Willard Street that is now a boutique hotel to a home in the South End that once served as a market. The self-guided tour takes place June 8 and lets participants see a half-dozen homes inside and out. Community volunteers are available to help those taking the tour.

Here are some details about the sites on the homes tour, as provided by Preservation Burlington:

South Union Street, 1869 Colonial Revival-style

Built for Irish immigrant Patrick Rourke and his Irish Canadian wife, Ellen, this home survived an 1878 fire. “The Rourke House is significant for its massing, front porch with pedimented gable supported by doric columns, 6-panel front door flanked by leaded sidelights and topped with a leaded transom, 6/1 wooden sash, triple grouped windows over the main entrance, modillion block cornice with full entablature, and narrow corner pilasters,” according to Preservation Burlington. The home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the South Union Street Historic District in 1988.

South Union Street, 1898 Shingle-style

This home belonged to Frank Boynton, who ran the shoe store Fletcher and Boynton on Church Street. “This asymmetrical home features two distinctive roof types commonly used in Shingle style architecture—gambrel facing the street, and jerkin head above the north entrance,” according to Preservation Burlington. “Other significant and character-defining features are the home’s massing, distinctive wood-shingled second-story, and unusual fenestration: round-headed 9/1 gable end windows, 6/1 sash on the 2nd story, and 6/2 sash on the first story.”  The Boynton House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the South Union Street Historic District in 1988.

South Union Street, circa 1845 Greek Revival-style

This house belonged to nationally acclaimed poet, lawyer, newspaper editor, Vermont attorney general and gubernatorial candidate John Godfrey Saxe and around 1870 was altered in the Italianate style. “Its unusual massing is due to the blending of the two architectural styles - at the core is a Greek Revival-style wood-frame house with American bond brick veneer, wide cornice, and entablature,” according to Preservation Burlington. The property was heavily damaged by a 2020 fire but has been refurbished. The Saxe House was also listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the South Union Street Historic District in 1988.

South Willard Street, 1882 Colonial Revival-style

The brick home at South Willard and Spruce Streets was built by architect A.B. Fisher for former state senator and bank executive Charles W. Woodhouse. “On the west, facing the lake, is a classically detailed porch that opens onto a grand, double staircase with redstone base and marble balustrade and stair treads,” according to Preservation Burlington. In 1984 the building became a retirement home and later the Willard Street Inn. In 2022 the property became a boutique hotel called Blind Tiger Burlington . The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the South Willard Street Historic District in 1988.

Howard Street, circa 1886 Vernacular Queen Anne-style

Brick mason Albert F. Warner acquired the lot in August 1883 and built his home. “With its front gable orientation, the house is similar to many built in Burlington at that time, except for its extended and dormered right roof slope,” according to Preservation Burlington. The house has been both a rental property and a private residence over the years.

Howard Street, 1923 Colonial Revival-style

This house belonged to Hermengilde Blanchard and his wife, Eveline, who had six daughters and three sons. The family operated a neighborhood grocery store on the lower level of the house, separating it from the kitchen with a simple curtain, according to Preservation Burlington, which says the house has only had three owners in its 101 years.

Reviews about China Discovery

My Review on trip to Beijing, Chongqing, Dazu, Fuling, Chengdu, Leshan, Sichuan with China Discovery

I traveled to Beijing, Chongqing, Dazu, Fuling, Chengdu, Leshan, Sichuan with China Discovery' s private tour package in April, 2024. Below are my review and tips I want to share with China Discovery's customers. Feel free to contact China Discovery for more details.

Yun chi L

Jack Li of Chengdu Bamboo/ China Discovery Travel organized this excellent 14 days tour of Beijing, Chongqing and Chengdu for groups of 10. The itinerary was well planned to cover most of the popular sights with excellent local guides to explain the history and the significance of each destination. All the hotels he chose were in central locations so we could get to explore each city in the evening. Jack even went out of his way to book an Opera for us at the Beijing Center of Performing Arts and a few special dinners in Beijing and Chengdu. All the local guides were fluent in English and be able to provide information about the present day life of local people.

We would not hesitate to book future tours with the Chengdu Bamboo travel as well as recommend our friends to Jack Li.
