Tamara helped us plan a great cruise! I have always trusted Classic Travel with my hockey travel, so when I needed help planning a lifetime trip, I knew who to call. Tamara helped us build a great package within our budget and helped me get organized. The cruise was just what we wanted. Plus, I was ready for the cruise process/experience. :)

We were making a sorta-last-minute vacation overseas, and I tried booking all the flights by myself through various websites (expedia and similar, plus the airline websites themselves) and it was exhausting trying to get together the right combination of flights. And, since it was just a few months away, prices were climbing (literally) by the hour. We had never used a travel agent before, but had heard good things from friends, so we decided to hand it off to Classic Travel. Our agent was Mendee; I told her what we needed and she made it happen that same day (it might have been while I was on the phone with her, but that was months ago now and I forget. I just remember it was fast!) It was so simple. Not only did we get a great price on the flights, but it included car rental! (Which we thought we'd have to do separately.) I can't say enough good things about our experience with Mendee and Classic Travel. I wouldn't book another vacation without going through them.

Colleen Romanauski

Colleen joined the HD Travel team in 2016 and has been instrumental in the growth and development of Next Travel. As the Vice President of Operations she oversees a wide range of critical functions essential to the agency's success. She is responsible for implementing new business acquisitions, streamline operations, and maximizing efficiency. She plays a key role in managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery to all clientele.

Kendal Sommers

Kendal Sommers joined Menno Travel in 1994 as a corporate travel advisor. As Chief Information Officer, Kendal is responsible for all technology in our office including the airline reservation system, QC software, and corporate reporting. In addition, he manages staff training relating to all automation systems. Kendal’s travels have taken him to England, Hawaii, Canada, Costa Rica, Guadeloupe, Dominican Republic and India.

Nathan Troyer

Nate became a valued member of Conlin Travel in 2016 serving as the VP of Finance and seamlessly transitioned to Next Travel upon their acquisition of Conlin Travel Leisure in 2022. Holding a CPA designation, Nate now serves as our Chief Financial Officer, bringing expertise and strategic financial guidance to our team.

Michelle Finch

Michelle joined the travel industry in 1999, creating bespoke itineraries spanning the globe. Beyond crafting unforgettable experiences for her clientele, she actively fosters her love for the travel industry by sharing her knowledge and expertise with others. Michelle spearheads comprehensive training programs for new hires and continuing education initiatives for our sales team, ensuring they remain at the forefront of excellence in customer service and travel expertise.

The History of Next Travel

Next Travel now has four office locations in Michigan, one in Indiana, and over 40 employees, and is quickly growing to be one of the largest travel agencies in the Midwest.

Establishment of

Next travel.

Chris Conlin and Charlie O’Neill brought their leisure travel companies together to form one entity. They began to grow their group and leisure business, striving to be the largest leisure travel agency in Michigan.

Acquisition of

Suburban travel.

In January 2021, Next Travel acquired Suburban Travel of Rochester Hills, MI and Classic Travel of Okemos, MI. With these acquisitions, Next Travel gained a second brick and mortar location in Okemos, MI and seven additional travel advisors.

Menno Travel

In March 2022, Next Travel acquired Menno Travel, located in Goshen, IN. With this acquisition, Next Travel expanded its reach into Indiana, adding a third location in Goshen, and also added corporate travel into its business mix.

Majority Owner

In April 2022, Charlie O’Neill purchased Chris Conlin’s interest in Next Travel to become the majority stakeholder in the company.

Minority Owner

In January 2023, Charlie brought Colleen Romanauski in as a minority owner. Together, they have continued to grow the business acquiring several more travel companies.

There is no great place to start…Classic Travel is amazing. Joy and her team assisted in planning the perfect destination proposal, at a group event none the less, followed by an amazing destination wedding and the honeymoon of our dreams. There was not a detail left to our concern, every transfer, hotel and other details were completed without us having to worry. When we arrived at our honeymoon destination we were in awe of the beautiful places that were suggested and ultimately chosen. There is no way we could have done this on our own, or been happier with how it was planned. On top of all this, after we left the wedding location my father fell and broke his hip. Joy and her team jumped to the forefront and got everything taken care of for my parents. This included multiple inter island transfers, airline changes, hotel and rental car issues. Not only was this a heroic effort, it was also over the New Years holiday when most would not have been working. We are forever indebted to Classic Travel for their service above and beyond what could ever be expected. There is no place else I would ever think of using for travel services!

Tom, Joy and their crew did a fantastic job assisting us with planning our wedding and honeymoon. We live in Michigan and were married in Kona, Hawaii. We had family and friends travel long distance for this perfect event. The travel was flawless. Unfortunately, we had a medical emergency with someone in our party after we had left for our honeymoon. Joy was instrumental in making sure everything was taken care of. She assisted from everything to taking care of air changes and the logistics of moving other family members around so they could attend to our injured. They purchased travel insurance and Joy is working with them on getting everything taken care of. Our honeymoon at the St. Regis, Bora Bora was more than wonderful. Classic Travel had all the transfers down to a science. All we had to do was show up and we were all set. Thanks to Classic Travel, we had a wonderful and unforgettable time. Booking through the internet would not have provided us with as many options or the personal service in times of need. They are amazing!!!

I highly recommend Tamara at Classic Travel. She has helped me plan trips for decades and has always done a wonderful job. Now that my partner is disabled, I was very reluctant to travel, but her knowledge and attention to detail made the trip very smooth and hassle free. Traveling is such an incredible way to enrich your life, and my husband and I are extremely lucky to have Joy and Tom Thrun of Classic Travel – along with their excellent staffers -- to help us make the most of our trips. Like many people, I mistakenly thought that using a travel agency would increase the cost of vacations. Little did I know that you don’t pay any fees – and you can even save a ton of money, since travel agents have a line in on outstanding packages that can significantly decrease your plane fare and hotel rates. What’s so lovely about owners Joy and Tom is that they care about you as an individual. Their own passion for traveling shines through in their commitment to helping you get the trip you’ve always wanted. Classic Travel’s staff work hard to find out exactly what it is you prioritize in life, and, using their extensive experience in the travel industry, they go out of their way to tailor a trip to make it special for you. Joy and Tom helped my husband and I plan our honeymoon to Maui and I can tell you this: Thanks to their guidance, we had an absolutely perfect honeymoon. From the resort they booked for us to the restaurants we enjoyed, from the off-the-beaten-path activities to the must-see spots, we didn’t have a single misstep in Maui – and we credit the fact that Joy and Tom, who love to travel themselves, took the time to get to know our likes and dislikes and to help set everything up for us. One other example I want to give is that last year, Classic Travel got us a trip to Florence, Italy, for literally half the price that we would have gotten with an Orbitz package. I’m not exaggerating – we would have either been able to spend half the time we spent there, or we would have had to pay twice as much for the same trip, had we booked it ourselves. In short, I can’t say enough about Classic Travel’s services! As someone who loves to travel but needs to do so on a budget, I am so very grateful to have been referred to Classic Travel.
