The District Imus

Discover Imus, Cavite

To be honest, even though I’d been living in the south for a year now, I’m still not familiar with Cavite. All I know is that it’s “malayo” and “mahirap ang commute”, which is something I based on the occasional times I watched local news. Recently, I joined a bloggers’ tour in Imus, Cavite, organized by COHO by Vista Land.

There are a few interesting takeaways from this tour:

  • Cavite is poised to be one of the best alternative residential locations near Manila. There is a lot of planned developments in this province, including creation of business districts and residential and commercial areas.
  • Imus offers interesting local attractions for its residents.
  • It’s best to buy a condo property during pre-selling period because it’s the time when prices are really low.

Anywhere, here are some of the interesting local attractions/places in Imus, Cavite.

Imus Church in Cavite

Imus Cathedral is an old church built in the 1850s. Inside, you can find the original Nuestra Senora del Pilar de Imus (Our Lady of the Pillar).

For residents of Imus, the Imus Cathedral is an important historical site. Currently, it’s also a popular choice for wedding events.

As we all know, several important events in our history happened in the province in Cavite.

The Battle of Alapan Marker commemorates the first time the Philippine Flag was displayed by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, after a battle between Filipino revolutionaries and Spanish marines. This event markedthe establishment of the 1st Philippine Republic.

The marker features a woman holding the flag, set on a 104-feet pole. It can be found in Alapan 1 Elementary School, which is 10-15 minutes drive from the town proper.

The District Imus

The District is one of the commercial & lifestyle centers in Imus, Cavite. It has everything you need for shopping and eating: groceries, shopping outlets, and restaurants.

It’s also accessible via commute. There’s a PUV terminal located in front of The District.

Big Ben’s Kitchen is a charming local restaurant in Imus. It is a family-owned business, offering heirloom Caviteno dishes.

When I first set foot in Big Ben’s Kitchen, I was immediately impressed. It was quaint and cozy. The menu consists of authentic local dishes, including the imus longganisa. This longganisa uses quality pork and doesn’t contain any preservatives.

Big Ben's Kitchen in Cavite

You can also buy local products such as vinegar and fruit spreads.

Try out their breakfast meals for P199 including drinks. I also recommend their salted-egg chicken meal. For drinks, they offer glasses/pitcher of refreshing cucumber-calamansi with honey.

12. Paniman Beach

Paniman Beach in Cavite

If you are looking for serene and less-crowded beaches near Manila , Paniman Beach is the place to be! This palm-fringed and powdery gray-sand beach is within the vicinity of Puerto Azul Golf Resort in Ternate, Cavite. It is one of the secluded spots in the province that features a quieter ambiance near the metro.

Paniman Beach is said to have been abandoned because the owners can no longer afford the operating costs of the entire beach resort. Nonetheless, it is still open for beach lovers who want to have a quick escape. It is a perfect tropical destination just 2 to 3 hours away from Manila. You can sunbathe, lounge on the gray sand, or plunge into the clean waters.

There is no reservation required, but you will need to pay the entrance fee. Feel free to occupy the shaded tables, cottages, and huts surrounding the resort.

11. Patungan Beach Cove

Another secluded and must-see beach spot in the province lies in Maragondon, Cavite. Situated at the southern side of Mt. Palay Palay or Pico de Loro, Patungan Beach Cove rivals those famous beaches in Batangas and Zambales. It boasts light brown sand, impressive rock formations, and breathtaking views of nearby islands.

To get there, you have to traverse the Nasugbu-Ternate Highway. You will drive across the 300-meter Kaybiang Tunnel, the longest road tunnel in the Philippines. Patungan Beach Cove is located at the farther end of the tunnel. Apart from its scenic beach, you can find a fishing village, which serves as the main livelihood of the locals.

There is no entrance fee here. However, cottages have a rental fee. You can bask in the sun, indulge in fresh seafood dishes, and even go island-hopping to the nearby pristine waters of Mugiw Island, Carabao Island, and Crocodile Island.

Balite Falls in Cavite

For those seeking a refreshing spot to unwind, visit Balite Falls in Amadeo, Cavite. Its enchanting waterfalls are among the several emerging attractions in Cavite. Enclosed inside a 4-hectare property, the Balite Falls has refreshing cold water gushing down a natural swimming pool.

It comprises two waterfalls. The bigger one naturally flows to the next one. It then cascades through various pipes and bamboo tubes. The running water fills the pool-sized watersheds— the deeper part is for adults, while kids can plunge into the shallow part. You can also jump off the edge of the falls and dive as deep as 18 feet below.

Upon entering the falls, you will need to pay an entrance fee. There are also surrounding cottages available for rent. If you come in a much bigger group, you can occupy a huge room that can accommodate up to 60 persons.

Among the many famous beaches in the south, Boracay de Cavite is one of the go-to weekend destinations and sought-after holiday spots. This famous Cavite beach features powdery fine gray sand and clean waters overlooking the Corregidor Island and Mount Mariveles in Bataan .

Also known as Katungkulan Beach Resort, Boracay de Cavite is just around 3 KM away from the Camp General Gregorio Lim Marine Base in Ternate, Cavite. The gray-sand beach is within the training grounds of the marines, so don’t be surprised if you see them roaming around the area. You can even find their firing range and barracks nearby.

To get there, you will need to secure an appointment before arrival to avoid coinciding with the military exercises. Adult visitors have to present a valid I.D. There is an entrance fee and cottages are available for rent.

You can also make use of the resort’s basic amenities: grilling station, toilet, shower area, volleyball court, and parking area. There is also a nearby store where you can buy snacks, drinks, toiletries, and even some souvenirs to bring back home.

Museo De La Salle in Cavite

The province of Cavite is also home to various cultural and historical attractions. One of which is Museo De La Salle, the official museum of the De La Salle University System in Dasmariñas, Cavite. It aims to showcase the extravagant lifestyle of Ilustrados during the Spanish colonial period.

The museum’s architecture is reminiscent of the traditional Bahay-na-Bato. Featuring Mexican, Spanish, and Oriental architecture, Museo De La Salle houses antique wooden furniture, life-size religious statues, crystal chandeliers, and rare ceramics. Some of the collections and art pieces came from donations.

You will get a glimpse of the Spanish era when you browse through the museum’s vast collection of heirlooms and artifacts. The two-story building has a grand staircase, Azotea, and a Baroque altar at the center. To get inside the museum, you have to present a valid ID and pay an entrance fee.

San Roque Parish Church in Cavite

The Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Solitude of Porta Vaga, also known as San Roque Parish Church, serves as a pilgrimage center in Cavite City. It is one of the most-visited churches in Cavite, especially during the Holy Week season. Catholics usually visit San Roque Parish Church as common practice for Visita Iglesia.

In 1700, the image of San Roque was aboard a badly damaged ship. Later on, the captain decided to place the image temporarily at the chapel. When it’s time to bring it back, the crewmen surprisingly cannot move the image. This mysterious experience made the people decide to venerate San Roque as the patron of the place.

Aside from its historic and picturesque structure, San Roque Parish Church also shelters Our Lady of Solitude of Porta Vaga, one of the National Cultural Treasures of the Philippines. During the Spanish era, the locals also used the icon of the Virgin Mary to bless the trade galleons heading to Acapulco, Mexico.

Crops at Gourmet Farms in Cavite

Cavite is also famous for its thriving agri-tourism scene and farm tours . The province is home to coffee bean plantations, organic farms, lush greeneries, and beautifully manicured landscapes.

One of the must-visit Cavite farms is Gourmet Farms, which claims to be the first-ever farm to introduce the Philippines’ finest coffee beans to the world. This first-ever commercial roasting facility and coffee bean plantation is an ideal spot for coffee lovers.

The owners of Gourmet Farms started as coffee traders in 1978. Since then, they have been producing single-origin arabicas, customized blends, and Philippine specialty coffee.

The founder and president, Ernest de Leon Escaler also decided to put up Gourmet’s Café, a roadside nipa hut restaurant alongside the 2-hectare organic farm in Silang, Cavite.

People from all over the country, including Manila’s Elite 400, have queued for hours to taste the restaurant’s heavenly Filipino-Italian meals served with gourmet coffee blends and teas from indigenous Philippine herbs.

Gourmet Farms is open daily from 7 AM to 9 PM. You can also drop by its store to buy local delicacies, organic food, and souvenir items.

5. Mt. Pico de Loro

Mt. Pico De Loro in Cavite

Also known as Mt. Palay Palay, Mt. Pico de Loro stands majestically between Maragondon, Cavite, and Nasugbu, Batangas. It is a dormant volcano that rises over 664m above sea level. It is one of the top hiking destinations in the Philippines .

The name “Pico de Loro” means parrot’s beak, which forms a resemblance to the mountain’s summit. Its breathtaking summit offers an unobstructed view of the nearby provinces of Laguna and Batangas. You can also witness the nearby scenic islands of Limbones, Corregidor, and Carabao.

Before going on a hiking adventure, you should first consider varying levels of difficulty. Relatively, Mt. Pico de Loro has a beginner-friendly trail with a difficulty level of 3/9.

It has a minor climb classification; therefore, it only takes up to 5 hours to reach the summit. Its trail class is between 1-3, which means that the terrain has rugged paths and moderately steep slopes. You will have to rappel through a 50ft-high monolith to the top.

The jump-off point is at the DENR station in Ternate. For your safety, there are Eco guides who will accompany you throughout the hike. Currently, Mt. Pico de Loro is indefinitely closed.

Imus Cathedral in Cavite at night

Another solemn and impressive church in Cavite is the Imus Cathedral, also known as The Diocesan Shrine and Parish of the Our Lady of the Pillar. It serves as a significant part of the history and culture of Caviteños, which dates back to the 1820s.

The Cathedral started as a small chapel in Kawit. However, the Augustinian recollects petitioned the Spanish government to convert Imus into an independent municipality. In November 2006, the National Historical Institute declared Imus Cathedral as a structure of historical significance.

The Hispanic architecture of the church has been beautifully preserved until now. Apart from the bricks and stones on its walls, you can also find Latin inscriptions on its arches. The pattern of the facades somewhat resembles the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros.

Imus Cathedral is a notable landmark for pilgrims not just from Cavite, but also from different provinces. Those who plan to have their Visita Iglesia and heritage tour in Cavite might want to include this historic church on your list.

Malibiclibic Falls in Cavite

One of the hidden gems in Cavite is nestled between General Emilio Aguinaldo (formerly Bailen), Maragondon, and Magallanes towns. Malibiclibic Falls is a result of three rivers merging from a 100-meter cliff below a grassland. The cascading water also pours to a wide catch basin perfect for a refreshing dip.

Described as the Amazon of Cavite, the surrounding greenery of Malibiclibic Falls is somewhat comparable to the lush landscapes of the famous rainforest. At first glance, the enchanting waterfalls seem to emerge from an enormous crack between two large and towering boulders.

To get there, you have to go through a 30-minute hike. The downhill trail is easy to navigate; however, it gets challenging when you pass through huge rocks and moss-covered boulders.

There is no entrance fee, but you need to pay an environmental fee. Travelers who have been to Malibiclibic Falls describe their trip as a spiritual and worthwhile experience.

2. Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine and Museum

Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine in Cavite

One of the top historical tourist spots in Cavite is Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine and Museum, the site of the first unfurling of the Philippine flag. Former president Emilio Aguinaldo officially proclaimed the Philippine Independence from Spanish colonization on June 12, 1898, on the balcony of his home in Kawit, Cavite.

During the historical event, the Banda Malabon played the Philippine national anthem composed by Julian Felipe. On June 18, 1964, the late president Diosdado Macapagal declared the Aguinaldo Mansion as a National Shrine.

The Aguinaldo Museum, also known as the House of History, features secret passages and compartments for documents and weapons. There is even a bomb shelter that leads to the nearby church.

Like the traditional Bahay-na-Bato, the mansion displays antique furniture, mesa altar, and other art deco-inspired elements. The ground floor serves as a museum, while the tomb of Aguinaldo lies in the garden behind the house.

The design of the mansion also reflects Aguinaldo’s ardent patriotism. There are evident symbols that adorn the ceiling, including an eight-rayed sun that represents the revolt of eight provinces as seen in the Philippine flag.

Broken Theater on Corregidor Island in Cavite

The island fortress of Corregidor is strategically located at the entrance of Manila Bay, south of Bataan, but it’s under the territorial jurisdiction of Cavite. It's one of the best day tour destinations near Manila .

Corregidor Island (Fort Mills) is one of the harbor defenses and vital combat zones between the Japanese Imperial Army and allied forces during World War II.

During Corregidor tours, you can try various fun activities. Revisit Corregidor’s glorious past while riding a tram, an ancient railway system in the early 1900s. The tranvia passes through the Malinta Tunnel, a bombproof shelter that served as McArthur’s headquarters and a hospital for wounded soldiers. You will also marvel at the ruins of Middleside Barracks, former home to more than 2,500 Filipino and American soldiers.

If you want to explore other stunning spots on the island, you can also go biking across the Mile-Long Barracks and South Beach. The island is also teeming with diverse flora and fauna. Other must-visit Corregidor attractions include the Japanese Memorial Garden and Pacific War Memorial Museum.

Imus is a city in Cavite , and the de jure capital of the province. The city is the site of Battle of Alapan, a major encounter during the Philippine Revolution on 1898. Though now part of the immense sprawl of northern Cavite from the 1980s, it still contain some sights of historic importance.

Understand [ edit ]

imus cavite tourist spots

Imus is the de jure capital of Cavite, but government offices remain at the de facto capital in Trece Martires . It is also the religious center of the province, serving as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Imus.

The city's history traces back to the Spanish era, but the origin of the name "Imus" remains obscure, and shrouded by numerous theories and urban legends. Imus is the site of the Battle of Alapan, a major encounter during the Philippine Revolution, and a giant flagpole is erected in the historical battlefield site.

The area was once dominated by rice paddies, but uncontrolled suburbanization from the 1980s converted them into the notoriously crowded sprawl it is today. Agriculture now plays a marginal role in the local economy. Newer developments, like real estate giant Ayala's Vermosa and local developer Pro-Friends' Lancaster New City further adds to the sprawl, though the former tries to incorporate new and sustainable urban design elements into their development.

The city is divided into 97 barangays, many that can be lumped into one district.

Get in [ edit ]

The heavily trafficked Aguinaldo Highways cuts through the city. You can take either a bus or jeepney, or drive your car to Imus.

By bus [ edit ]

Imus is served by city bus route 28 between Parañaque and Dasmariñas via the Aguinaldo Highway (Rte 419).

By car [ edit ]

Imus is 25 km (16 mi) south of Manila, and reachable by a 45-minute drive from Manila. The city is not yet served by expressways, but there are two nearby exits providing indirect access to the city:

  • From Manila–Cavite Expressway (CAVITEx) - Exit Bacoor Exit, which connects Aguinaldo Highway in Bacoor. Best route if coming from Manila city proper or Ninoy Aquino International Airport .
  • From South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) - Take the Muntinlupa–Cavite Expressway (MCX) from Susana Heights/MCX Exit in Muntinlupa , and follow Daang Hari through southeastern Bacoor . Toll fees and travel times are twice compared to just taking CAVITEX, and prepare for traffic jams at Molino junction.

Imus lies on the route of the Cavite–Laguna Expressway (CALAx), and will be served by an exit connecting with Open Canal Road, but as of 2022, a section of it near the Alapan Monument is still being built.

Imus Tourist Spots: Exploring Imus Cathedral – A Journey Through Time

imus cavite tourist spots

Imagine yourself stepping into the historical Imus Cathedral in Cavite, Philippines, a site resonating with centuries of faith and community. This Roman Catholic cathedral, officially known as the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of the Pillar, stands proudly as the heart of the Diocese of Imus. It’s not just a church; it’s a testament to the enduring spirit of the Filipino people.

Your journey through Imus Cathedral begins in 1616 with the arrival of the Augustinian Recollects, who first planted the seeds of faith in the region. Initially, the parish of Imus started modestly as a chapel-of-ease in Brgy. Toclong, under the care of these Recollects. Fast forward to 1823, under the guidance of Fr. Nicolas Becerra, the construction of the present church began at its current location in Brgy. Balangon. Inspired by the fifth incarnation of the Manila Cathedral, the church’s facade was crafted from stone and bricks using forced labor, a harsh yet common practice of the era.

Socio-Political Aspect of the Cathedral

But the story of Imus Cathedral isn’t just about architecture and religion. It’s intertwined with the socio-political fabric of the Philippines. The Hacienda de Imus, linked to the church, recreated a pivotal part of the nation’s history. In 1894, a Madrid-based corporation purchased the hacienda, which the U.S. government later acquired. This marked a transition towards secularization in 1897.

Today, as you wander through the cathedral’s halls, you’re not just walking through a building but traversing the corridors of history. Each stone and carving tells a story of faith, struggle, and resilience. The cathedral, with the miraculous image of Our Lady of the Pillar, continues to be a beacon of hope and a symbol of the enduring faith of the Caviteños.

In Imus Cathedral, you’re not just an observer but part of its ongoing story. It is a story of faith, hope, and the enduring spirit of a community that has weathered the tests of time.

Tourist Spots in Imus: Discover the Charm of Puente de Isabel II – A Bridge Steeped in History and Beauty

imus cavite tourist spots

Imagine yourself strolling across Puente de Isabel II in Imus, Cavite. This isn’t just any bridge; it’s a historical marvel, completed in 1857, that has seen centuries of change. The first permanent bridge over the Imus River connected Imus to Manila, marking a pivotal point in infrastructure development.

But Puente de Isabel II is more than a pathway; it’s a silent witness to history. The Battle of Imus in 1896 unfolded here, where Filipino revolutionaries outsmarted Spanish soldiers, leading to a significant victory.

This two-lane stone marvel isn’t just about its sturdy build. It’s a tapestry of stories, from the sitting areas adorned with historical markers to the memorial of local leader Jose Tagle. Each stone and curve echoes tales of the past.

Renovated under Mayor Ayong Maliksi, the bridge today is a tribute to its rich history, with colors of the Philippine flag adorning its rails, reminding us of Imus’ role in the nation’s journey.

So, next time you cross Puente de Isabel II, remember that you’re walking through pages of history where every step tells a story of resilience, revolution, and the relentless march of time.

Stand Tall at Alapan: A Glimpse into a Historic Victory

imus cavite tourist spots

Let’s time travel to Imus and Cavite and stand in awe at the Battle of Alapan Marker. Picture this: May 28, 1898, a pivotal moment for the Philippines. Under the blazing sun, General Emilio Aguinaldo, freshly back from exile, steered the Filipino Revolutionary Army to an unforgettable victory. This wasn’t just any skirmish; it marked the first significant win against Spanish forces, setting the stage for Philippine Independence.

Now, imagine you’re at the Imus Heritage Park. You’re not just at a park; you’re at a national treasure, a memorial for this historic battle. The centerpiece? A magnificent 90-foot-tall flagpole with “Inang Bayan,” a statue personifying the nation, raised the Philippine flag triumphantly. This isn’t just any flag; it’s the first time the national flag fluttered in victory right after Aguinaldo unfurled it at Cavite Nuevo’s Teatro Caviteño, witnessed by hundreds of revolutionaries.

So, next time you’re in Cavite, drop by Alapan. Stand where heroes stood, and let the spirit of independence fill you. After all, you’re walking in the footsteps of history.

  • Imus City, Cavite

imus city

The city of Imus was formerly part of the Cavite el Viej0 (now Kawit), and was under the parish church of the Jesuits during the administration of the Archdiocese of Manila Archbishop Miguel Garcia Serrano in 1618-1629. After that, the Augustinian Recollects established a parish church in Imus, now known as Bayang Luma. That was a great help for the people living in Imus because for century and a half, they endured the long walk of 4.5 kilometers just to attend religious services and other transactions to the nearest city proper.

Imus was also the place for the unfurling of the Philippine Flag during the Battle of Alapan on May 28, 1898 against the Spanish colonizers. That battle was a major victory for the Philippines under the command of General Emilio Aguinaldo during the Philippine Revolution which eventually lead to the declaration of Philippine Independence from Spain on June 12, 1898.

Population/ Language/ Area

The city has a total population of 301,624 as of 2010.

Imus City covers a total land area of 6,470 ha (16,000 acres) or 64.70 km 2 (24.98 sq mi), approximately 6.8% of the total land area of the province of Cavite, which is 1,427.06 square kilometers (550.99 sq mi).The almost rectangular inland city of Cavite is bounded by the municipalities of Kawit and Noveleta to the north, and General Trias to the west; by the cities of Bacoor to the east and Dasmariñas to the south.

The city is located near the Metropolitan Manila area, just 21 kilometers (13 mi) south of Manila. With the continuous expansion of Metro Manila, this local government unit is now included in the Greater Manila area, which reaches Lipa City in its southernmost part.

Products and Services

With a comfortable 18 km distance from Metro Manila, Imus serves as a favorable site for industrial establishments such as the 200-hectare (490-acre) Imus Informal Industrial Estate and Anabu Hills Industrial Estate. Corporations that are 100% Filipino-owned such as Annie’s Candy Manufacturing, Inc., CKL Industries and Liwayway Mktg. Corp. Factories of partly Filipino-owned corporations such as Champan Garment Corp., Hayag Motorworks & Machine Shop and San Miguel-Yamamura Asia Corp. and foreign-owned corporations such as EDS MFG, Inc., which produces automotive wiring harness and Frontline Garments Corp., can be found in Imus. Imus is also the home of the Anabu Handmade Paper Products, a producer of handmade paper and paper products.

Business Opportunity

Investors will find an atmosphere conducive to business and a climate of optimism and buoyancy in Imus. Eighteen major industrial establishments with a total capitalization of 1.311 billion pesos have established their base at the Imus Informal Industrial Estate providing local employment to an estimated 13,478 people as of December 1998. Located just along the stretch of the General Emilio Aguinaldo Highway, the 200-hectare informal industrial estate houses manufacturing companies owned by foreign and Filipino investors. Imus has ventured to the export of automotive wire harness and electrical components, acrylic sheets and lighting fixtures, processed foods, shellcraft, bamboo, rattan and woodcraft, furniture, garments and novelty items to other countries. The implementation of the strategic Daang Hari Road will further augment the development of Imus. Several subdivisions and mass housing projects and the establishment of factories and small-scale industries in many of its barangays haveresulted in a movement of population into the city.

15 Best CAVITE TOURIST SPOTS (Coves, Beaches & Heritage)

 alt=

The beautiful province of Cavite is located very close to Metro Manila and it would only take more than an hour to reach it by car. Actually, if you’re living in the south, Cavite is just like a neighboring city that you can easily access anytime you want! And with the constant development of our roads and highways, it might even take you less than an hour to reach Cavite. I’ve been living in Cavite for almost a decade now, and I can say that life here is much better than in megacities like Manila. In my place in Gen. Trias, I get to experience the comforts of city life but also the calmness of rural lifestyle.

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a quick weekend getaway near Manila , then Cavite should be on top of your list! Also known as the “Land of the Brave” because of the large number of national heroes who are Caviteños, the province became widely known all over the country for its rich history and scenic tourist spots.

From breathtaking beaches, majestic mountains, and sparkling waterfalls to beautiful historical buildings, Cavite is undoubtedly full of natural and cultural wonders everyone shouldn’t miss. Moreover, navigating around Cavite wouldn’t be a problem because a huge part of it is already well-developed. This gives us a lot of ways and opportunities to freely explore the province and discover hidden gems like restaurants, cafés, museums, and more! Oh, and Tagaytay City is also a part of the province of Cavite which is the go-to place for everyone who wants to just chill, relax, and basically do everything that you want. After all, this vibrant city is known as “The City of All Occasions!”

See? There are a whole lot of things to uncover and discover in the incredible province of Cavite. So, what are you waiting for? Come and join me as we both explore the 15 Best Tourist Spots of Cavite!

1. Corregidor Island

Number one on the list and undoubtedly one of the most important historical landmarks in the country is Corregidor Island. This is a rocky island strategically located in front of Manila Bay and is famously known as the battlefield between Japanese invaders and Filipino and American soldiers during World War II. A lot of brave souls fought to their deaths on this island to protect our country’s freedom. That is why Corregidor Island became a national shrine to commemorate the heroism of Filipino and American soldiers.

Although Corregidor Island is geographically closer to Bataan, it is officially within the jurisdiction of Cavite province. You can wander and explore the island to discover several historical artifacts such as World War II artilleries, canons, and the famous Mile-Long Barracks which is the world’s longest military barracks. Aside from these interesting finds, the breathtaking scenery on Corregidor Island is also something you shouldn’t miss during your visit to Cavite. CHECK HERE THE BEST HOTELS IN CAVITE

2. Patungan Beach Cove

Now that summer season is officially upon us here in the Philippines, one of the best places to visit in Cavite is Patungan Beach Cove. This beautiful public beach is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The cream sands, the clear waters, and the fresh air are totally worth it. And you know what the best part is? It’s very affordable to spend a day here at Patungan Cove! There are cottages that you can rent where you can leave your things, eat, and also relax.

You can also try and engage in some exciting activities like kayaking, cliff diving, and island hopping as well! Grab the chance to explore the whole island and discover some hidden gems that will bring you closer and closer to nature.

3. Mt. Pico De Loro

One of the country’s top hiking and mountain climbing destinations is Mt. Pico De Loro. Standing at 688 meters above sea level, this dormant volcano is the highest peak in Cavite province. If you’re a beginner at mountain climbing, Pico De Loro is probably one of the best peaks for you to hike. The trails are challenging but definitely exciting especially if you come with several friends and colleagues.

Mt. Pico De Loro Monolith

Proud to conquer “the monolith”

But most importantly, the jaw-dropping view of the mountains of Cavite, the West Philippine Sea, and the sea of clouds is truly something you’ll never forget. Oh, and don’t forget to take some pictures of yourself while sitting at the huge rock formation on the summit known as the “Parrot’s Beak”, okay? I’m sure that will be one of the major highlights of your exciting hike!

4. Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine and Museum

Emilio Aguinaldo is one of the most famous national heroes and the first president of the Philippines. And he is a proud Caviteño, which is why it’s only fitting that the Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine and Museum is located at his ancestral mansion in Kawit, Cavite where the iconic Philippine Declaration of Independence is from Spain was announced. This museum, also known as the House of History, is also the final resting place of Emilio Aguinaldo.

You can find lots of historical artifacts and memorabilia that also perfectly depict the rich culture and history of the Philippines during his time. But probably the most interesting thing about the Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine and Museum is that it is also dubbed the House of Many Secrets where you can reportedly find hidden compartments and passageways everywhere. Well, that’s one thing you should confirm during your visit!

5. Malibiclibic Falls

Aside from pristine beaches and interesting historical places, Cavite is also full of countless natural wonders that are worth visiting. One of those hidden gems is Malibiclibic Falls. This tourist attraction in Bailen, Cavite is the perfect example of nature’s beautiful persistence. It is said that waterfalls are a result of the convergence of three (3) major rivers of Cavite namely Magallanes, Maragondon, and Aguinaldo.

This incredible persistence which lasted for millions of years was eventually able to penetrate through a 100-meter-high stone cliff. Amazing, right? Now, this tourist destination attracts tons of visitors who are looking for fun outdoor activities like swimming, cliff diving, and trekking!

6. Gourmet Farms in Silang

Ah, yes! After a long and tiring day full of explorations and adventures, let us first take a break and relax at the Gourmet Farms in Silang. This 12-hectare property is known for its huge plantation of lettuce, fantastic restaurant, and amazing farm that’s open for tourists. For starters, you should try their in-house restaurant, The Dining Room and Gourmet Café, where you can enjoy eating delicious meals and coffee made from fresh ingredients! Some of their best-sellers include Pesto Speciale, Seafood Pescatore, and Gourmet Pizza.

7. Balite Falls

Another great natural wonder you shouldn’t miss in Cavite is Balite Falls. This sparkling waterfall located in Amadeo, Cavite is nestled within a peaceful and quiet resort where everyone can enjoy their own bit of relaxing meditation. The crystal clear waters cascading down the beautiful rock formations are naturally cold so I’d be ready to take a swim if I were you! There’s also a natural pool where tourists can swim and dive as much as they want.

Balite Falls Amadeo Cavite

Although the resort is relatively small, the emerald green waters of Balite Falls are truly something worth seeing especially if you’re a nature lover. Oh, and while you’re around Amadeo, you should try its famous coffee!

8. Boracay de Cavite

Probably the most famous and trending beach destination in Cavite is no other than Boracay de Cavite. This tropical paradise is located in Ternate inside the Katungkulan Marine Base. Lots of tourists claim the sands here are as white as sands in Boracay itself. Well, they’re not lying! So if you’re looking for an incredible white-sand beach with turquoise waters and majestic rock formations, this is exactly what you need. The best part? You don’t need to fly to Aklan anymore because Boracay de Cavite is only a couple of hours away from Manila!

Of course, there are countless fun and exciting activities to do here as well. And you can also experience some unforgettable nightlife activities with some bars and resorts surrounding the area. Well then, enjoy!

9. San Roque Parish Church

Cavite is also home to some of the oldest and most significant religious institutions in the Philippines because it was one of the highly influenced provinces by the Spanish colony. One great example is the San Roque Parish Church or the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Solitude of Porta Vaga. This church is considered to be one of the oldest in the country being founded in 1586 and until now, hundreds of Catholic Caviteños still attend mass at this very parish.

San Roque Parish Church

The architecture of San Roque Parish is also an attraction in itself with a Romanesque design including beautiful stained glass displays of several saints. Dropping by this church to offer some prayers is definitely a must especially if it’s your first time in Cavite.

10. Imus Cathedral

Another must-visit church in Cavite is the Imus Cathedral or Diocesan Shrine and Parish of the Our Lady of Pillar. This cathedral was founded in 1795 with Nuestra Señora Del Pilar de Imus as its main patron saint and John the Baptist as the second. It is also said that the original miraculous crowned image of the patron saint is enshrined inside the cathedral. Moreover, it is also where the Bishop of the Diocese of Imus is seated which governs the entire province of Cavite.

Imus Cathedral

And just as expected, this incredible cathedral is very huge in size and beautiful in style using Baroque architecture. Having your picture taken outside the Imus Cathedral is one of the best memorabilia of your visit to Cavite!

11. Museo De La Salle

Museo De La Salle is also a perfect cultural attraction located inside the campus of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas. The museum houses several antiques and artifacts that depict the Filipino Ilustrado culture of the 19th century. From furniture, traditional clothing, and other household items, exploring Museo De La Salle will give you a clear idea of what it was like to be an upper-class Filipino during the Spanish colonial period.

Museo De La Salle

This beautiful museum serves as an ideal destination for field trips, educational tours, and simple tourist visits. So don’t forget to take lots of pictures because the place is very Instagrammable as well!

12. Paniman Beach

Are you ready to have some more fun at the beach here in Cavite? Well, here it is! Another popular beach destination in the province is Paniman Beach where you can find light gray sands, crystalline waters, and good times. So if you’re looking for the perfect place to relax, unwind, and spend some time with nature, then this is the perfect choice for you! Paniman Beach is located inside the Puerto Azul Golf Resort so I’m sure that you’ll have an amazing private time during your visit.

Paniman Beach

You can also rent cottages and huts to leave your things or eat your lunch while enjoying the fresh sea breeze and the rustling waves. With the clean and green surroundings, beautiful rock formations, and the magnificent view of the sunset, Paniman Beach is absolutely the perfect location to pose with your beach bodies!

13. Cabag Cave

If you’re a huge fan of outdoor activities like hiking, trekking, and spelunking, then visiting Cabag Cave in Silang, Cavite should definitely be on your list! This cave is probably the most popular in the province which is widely known for its breathtaking underground river that is said to run about 50 meters inside.

So aside from beautiful rock formations and a claustrophobia-induced experience while trekking inside Cabag Cave, tourists also have the chance to enjoy a quick swim in the natural pool formed by the cave! You can also cross the iconic Lucsuhin Bridge which is a naturally-formed bridge located near Cabag Cave. All in all, I’m sure that you’ll have a fun and exciting interaction with nature when you visit this beautiful gem in Cavite.

14. Pantihan/Balayungan Falls

You thought we were already done with waterfalls? Well, Cavite still has another one that will surely make you want to swim. Pantihan Falls also known as Balayungan Falls is actually located near the Malibiclibic Falls in Maragondon. Oh, and be careful because it is said that this fall is somehow hard to find but once you reach it, it will definitely be worth it. The beautiful rock formation where the crystal clear water cascades are absolutely something you should witness with your own eyes.

Also, there are cottages and Nipa Huts set up near Pantihan Falls so you can have a place to rest and relax after swimming in the natural pool.

15. Kaynipa Cove

Ah, finally. Kaynipa Cove is a breathtaking piece of paradise nestled in the coastal areas of Ternate, Cavite. With its white sands, stunning rock formations, and turquoise waters, you can really say that Kaynipa Cove is in its beautiful pristine condition. It is a hidden natural gem because you actually have to trek down a mountain to reach Kaynipa Cove. But trust me, everything will be worth it once you reach the beach!

Photo: Kaynipa Cove Eco Resort

In the secluded environment of Kaynipa Cove, only you can hear the rustling of waves and see the majestic view of the setting sun! Of course, you can still enjoy fun and exciting activities around here such as swimming, beach bumming and camping as well.

WATCH: Miss Universe Philippines 2024 queens in their tourism videos

By Nechole Jayne Garcia Published Apr 07, 2024 4:10 pm

The showdown for the Miss Universe Philippines crown has begun!

The Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) organization released the complied tourism videos of this year’s delegates promoting the places they're representing.

On the Empire Philippines’ YouTube channel, the video invites viewers to “journey with our delegates as they unveil the diverse places they proudly call home."

The 53 candidates showcased their local landscapes, food, culture, and people in the 1 hour and almost 45-minute video. Each clip had different approaches and tactics to promote their cities and provinces.

Get to know more about the beauty queens before the final competition on May 13, 2023 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Here are the standout introductions:

Yvonne Catamco showcased what the “City of Smiles” has to offer by sharing what makes her smile: family, friends, music, dancing, and food.

"Being in the place where I grew up, I am confident that this is where I continue to grow and progress into the Super Yvonne that I wish for the Universe to see," she said.

Even those who are not the “bunso” in the family know the feeling of being asked to buy something at the market, getting distracted in the process, and later on forgetting what you went there for. That was Victoria Velasquez Vincent’s humorous video introduction whilst showing a few products that Bacoor has.

From buying tahong at the market to “aawra lang” through the streets, Victoria subtly but effectively showed the pride of her home: noble people (past and present-day heroes) and natural heritage. Even comparing the “multifaceted, vibrant, ever-evolving" Bacooreños to the famous Filipino delicacy “halo-halo.”

Bantayan Island

imus cavite tourist spots

Juvel Mangubat Ducay is the first to represent Bantayan Island in the MUPH stage – and she did not waste any second showing the universe of the hidden paradise in her home. Juvel describes her home as a place “where nature’s beauty shines from the land to the sea, with its pristine coastlines and breath-taking natural attractions”—a place where paradise, culture, heritage, and faith interconnect.

Dia Mate chose to highlight Cavite’s role in the history of the Philippine Revolution and the birth of our nation. While showcasing its historical attributes and tourist attractions, Dia's main message was to give thanks to Cavite for its contributions: historical figures like Emilio Aguinaldo, the first president of the Philippines, and Julian Felipe, the composer of Lupang Hinirang; the Philippine flag was first unfurled at Imus, Cavite; and the Magdalo Band which is the oldest band in Cavite and claimed the first to perform the National Anthem.

Starting with the known story of “Maria Makiling,” Alexandra Rosales showed how the legend has impacted the belief and attitude of the Lagunenses in protecting and preserving their natural landscapes and resources – showing the majestic views and trails Laguna has to offer.

Quezon Province

A compilation of pictures and video clips was all that Ma. Ahtisa Manalo used to showcase the beauty and energy of Quezon Province. Ahtisa's video was uniquely the only one without some kind of narration from the candidate herself. Despite not having a voice-over, the video successfully showed the culture, people, heritage, landmarks, food, and beauty of Quezon Province.
